Found this place accidentally, as we arrived in JB too early. Was walking around to look for a place to eat and rest, and a nice security guard guided us to the food court through their service lift. And had a good rest here and when mall was open, found the place to be nice and spacious.

This place has lots of choices to shop and eat. There are many popular brands visible here such as Starbucks, CoffeeBean, Pizza Hut, 4 Fingers, Thai express and many other good food restaurants at this place. There is one shop selling dates and Middle East products too. Spotted some nails salon and massage too. Holiday inn is just connected to this mall and have their lobby at 8th floor which is very convenient to stay if you are planning to explore city area around in JOHOR Bahru.

I used to spend my early teenage years in the 80s. However, the mall was refurbished 100% and all my nostalgic memories are gone forever! No more Rockstation, Gold Disc record store, B Sound Studio, Snooker Centre, and Emporium/Parkson.... Those are my memories....sigh.... The newly refurbished mall looks awesome and premium though ...

A quiet mall at JB, less shops and not many choice. Simple and nice decoration for CNY. This mall is connected with JB Sentral and City Square next door.

What a change from the old KOMTAR complex with the Parkson Ria store, 15-20 years ago... The refreshed version with the “JBCC” at its name is now a classy, upmarket mall with tenants of KL and SG standard... Big retail names like Marks & Spencer (first one in JB), Bath & Body Works, Sephora, Tumi, Victoria’s Secret, Royal Selangor, Skechers, Daiso, and FOS will definitely draw the well-heeled shopper here, while foodies can check out the myriad of tasty outlets from Tony Roma’s, KFC, CBTL, O’Brien’s Sandwiches, Haagen Dazs, and Famous Amos. Let’s not forget the Activity Park centered on the insanely popular Angry Birds mobile game, for the kids to play while the adults go for shopping therapy! And best of all is the location of JBCC - it’s smack in the center of JB Downtown and easily accessible not just from the CIQ Complex and JB Sentral but even the many hotels surrounding the place (including where I stayed during this trip, which is the excellent Suasana Suites)!

Better mall than city square. Not too crowded. Many food options including a food court on level 6 serving a variety of food which are also very reasonable priced. Mark and Spencer also has a shop in the mall.

On the heart of the city, so strategically located. As everyone can expect, it has some good stores with some restaurants. The mall is pretty new and we'll maintained so far. Higher level, you can find grocery store. There is also a theme park here, the famous Angry Bird Park, which is good playground for children and even adult, entrance fee is required of course.

This is actually cleaner and better than city square. Quite new and still not many shops available yet their parking lots are amazing and systematic. Have grocery store at the top floor, affordable and near to foodcourt. The foodcourt serve variety of foods mainly malaysian foods like mamak, nasi goreng, and steamboat. Have another kfc branch inside, coffee bean downfloor and so much more. Have guard circling around the entrance. The bridge behind connected to city square and jb sentral

When visited on 14 September 2023, shopping mall was quiet with not much footfall, even though the mall was located next to JB Sentral and immigration and customs complex. A lot of the shops were vacant, and those that were occupied and open had no/few customers. For the food court at level 4, it was well patronised but there were still vacant stalls. As such, an individual might better spend his/her time at JB City Square just next door.

City square is better. Half the shops are closed at komtar and the supermarket on 3rd floor was closing down. Mr DIY also closed. Bonus points for having a pond downstairs.

22/9/18 Presumed unannounced fire drill? Because we were being forced to queue without being informed of situation and instructions. Our car chauffeur was being charged for waiting fee as we were stuck and not allowed to go off. Please take to consideration, please atleast put up signs of situation. Situation was handled poorly, staff were shouting at passer-by’s

It's still nice and spacious, but the lack of footfall over the 2 pandemic-stricken years and slow traffic here now have pretty much decimated a good portion of shops here except for the most popular and/or large (anchor) tenants such as Padini, Starbucks, Bath and Bodyworks etc... 😣 The Padini store is still large and wonderful to shop through though!

I will never say a bad thing about this mall as I was a part of the team that built it. It was a great mall before the unfortunate Covid 19 pandemic, now it has a very good management team that constantly tries to make it better. I am confident this Mall will return to its glory days...

Small shopping mall in JB city center. Plenty of shops inside the mall but not much restaurants (only 3 restaurants according to the information lady). However, they have a rather huge food court inside. Most shops are closed early (maybe due to less customers), before 8pm. Overall the mall is clean and relaxing but looks like a deserted mall.

  • 3/5 Mike S. 1 year ago on Google
Good shopping mall, however it is sad to see that the mall is quite empty. I hope with the opening of the borders, the retail markets will get back to what it was before. The mall is having all the facilities and amenities to revert to what it was before the pandemic.

I went to the pharmacy to get some medication. Arrive there around 7 pm. After scanning using my Sejahtera and took my temperature the security guard kindly reminded me that only left a hour to shop due to SOP during these CMCO . KOMTAR is a nice place to shop and if you are hungry there are a number of good eateries eg. Japanese, American and there is a food court serving local delicacies Coming back to shopping the shops products ranges from affordable, mid and high end . A great place for the whole family . It spacious and even if is packed with shoppers you won't feel the squeeze. Cleanliness is tip top in all areas. There are facilities for the disable even the toilets. Security is good. A⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating. Almost forgot, there's beauty and hair salons. A supermarket is located near the food court.

This shopping mall next to the City Square is still quiter as before. If you do not mind cheap and good jeans and T-shirts, you can drop by the Brands outlet on the 1st floor next to Padini. It is also much easier to book grab service at the main entrance as most customers book the service at Levi outlet entrance in City Square.

The KOMTAR building in Johor Bahru is a prominent landmark that offers a mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. With its distinctive architecture, it stands out in the cityscape. Visitors often appreciate the variety of stores and restaurants available, providing a diverse range of experiences. However, some might find that the building's layout can be a bit confusing to navigate. Overall, KOMTAR is a bustling hub that caters to different interests and is worth a visit if you're in the area.

After 3 years, finally we visit this mall again. Overall nothing change much here, some shop at the G level already close. The interesting part of this mall is its connected to JB City Square. So you can mingle around within this 2 mall without need to go out. The parking rate is RM2 per hour and RM2 for subsequent hour.

Relatively new mall, and a lot quieter than the JBCC. Unfortunately you will easily find many floor were patched and broken. Be careful of your steps, especially if you bring toddler around. Hope they will fix that soon. The one of main highlight there was the Angry Bird arena, suitable for children and toddler. They also provide several food chains, and grocery store. Suitable for you who stay in Hotel or AirBNB apartment around as they were really easy to reach. Just small walk (less than 5 minute) from famous Amari hotel and Suasana Apartment. I also saw Singaporeans doing grocer there before going back to Singapore, probably because of slightly lower price.

This used to be a very run down mall. The building was around since the 80s when I visited. Since the renovation it’s so much nicer and a pleasure to shop. In fact the decor is more up market than City Sq Mall and somewhat less crowded. The shops staff are also generally friendly and easy to engage. The Starbucks there is much nicer to sit and chill compared to the one near the check point. This mall also have factory outlets which is good to branded clothes at bargain prices. The Timberland store also has good deals periodically.

Also you can play the VR Games; roller coaster game & skiing game. Then you can went to the observation deck for another picture taking spots. Around 2 hours allotted for each person for the session.

I came here for angry bird play ground. My kids love it. The mall is smaller than city square, but its tenants seem better in quality, in other word, higher class shopping mall. The mall also have a souk or market shopping theme to accommodate middle east tenants. The crowds is less than city square.
