Today is the first time ever i am writing a review for a restaurant. The food served was so good it felt wrong not to do so. Today i went down around 7pm, was walking down race course road from farrer park mrt and saw a new place and decided to give it a try. Best decision i made. The ambiance in the restaurant was amazing, it was cosy and not overly decorated. The staff were welcoming and immediately got us seated and passed us the menus. Looking through the menu, there were many options available including local fares like hokkien mee but we chose to go for indian food. We ordered Chicken methi and Palak Paneer. My dad felt like having something sour and spicy, so we asked the manager for his recommendation and he recommended the Mango Fish Curry, so we got that too. And we also ordered Plain Naan, Cheese Naan, Plain Rice and the Biryani Rice. The first thing that arrived after we ordered was the appetizer, pappadom. It kept us occupied as we waited for our food to arrive. The food did not take long to arrive. We had barely gotten halfway through talking about our days that the items slowly arrived. The Chicken Methi was extremely satisfying. It was the perfect level of creamy, the Methi was not overpowering and the spice level was just nice. The Palak Paneer was so good that it actually reminded me of my mums cooking. The palak tasted fresh and the paneer was soft and nice. The recommended dish hit all the right spots for my dad. In his words it could not have been more right. The dish had fresh green mangoes, that were sour but not too sour and the spice level was good enough to get a kick but not too high to make you sweat. The mock fish was extremely good, it broke apart extremely well and was not too tough. It also soaked up all the flavor from the masala that was extremely flavorful. All the dishes went extremely well with the Naans. They were soft, easy to tear apart and they picked up the gravies easily. The plain rice was cooked nicely and absorbed the flavours of the dishes very well. The biryani rice was fragrant and there was a generous amount of cashews. Overall, it was an amazing experience. After paying i thought it couldnt get better but they actually had 3 different types of mouth fresheners available. Perfect way to end a meal. I will definitely be back again.

We booked the place using eatigo app. N guess what we got 40% off. Good app. You may additionally get $10 if u use my referral code(ravi2a19d). Nice food and worth the price. Actually we went to celebrate birthday. We were warmly greeted by staff and they even played Happy Birthday song. Overall nice experience!

I have been here a couple of times it might look quiet from outside but the food is top quality. I met the chef a very friendly guy and he said that he has alot of good experiences and thus he is able to cook differently and different variety. If you are a spice lover request for spicy. He also said his cooking is all freshly made thus it takes time. Is a must to try.

Food is great. But the staff are clearly inexperienced and unmotivated. The first time I dined at this restaurant, our reservation was forgotten. Our food, 50% of which was clearly pre-made, took over an hour to arrive. 2 of us were waiting for over an hour only to find out that our order had been forgotten. Many items on the menu were not available. The second time I dined at Basil's, the staff came to us after 45min and told us that some dishes we ordered were not available. It is standard practise for the servers to know what is or isn't available on the menu. Wrong orders were given. When we ordered chicken soup, vegetable soup was given. When pointed out, they just threw in a few pieces of chicken into the soup and returned it. Our appetisers were forgotten again. Food was of good quality. A suggestion would be to hire more professional and experienced staff.

Absolutely delicious Indian vegetarian fare. We ordered the Gobi Manchurian, Tahu Sambal, Mutton Varuval and Dhal Tadeka and all the dishes were very flavourful. The owner's enthusiasm and friendly service was the icing on the cake.

A disappointing experience. I decided to try this resturant due to good reviews I had seen. Before ordering anything, I specifically asked if vegan dishes were served. The manager did not seem to fully comprehend and he merely went off "milk not to be included". I mentioned dairy products just to make it clear that milk was not the only item which would make a food non-vegan. Knowledge about different cuisine should be expected of an FnB chain. The popadam appetizer was crunchy and tasty and filled in the gap between ordering and having the food served. It did take quite a long time to arrive so the manager tried to make small talk by explaining how the gravies took time to cook as no onion or garlic were used. I am unsure about this as the gravy was strong and flavourful. Basil's Andra Bangala Thumba Veppudu was slightly sweet. It was not too filling but did become hard to chew as it cooled down. Perhaps the starch could have been removed. The pulka was soft. Basil's Karaikudi Mutton Curry was pleasant to look at and provided a burst of flavour. This is suited for people who like an oomph in their dishes. However, I packed some for home and refrigerated it. Upon taking it out, I noticed a thick, solid layer had formed at the top. This could only be due to some form of animal fat that was used. This was very upsetting as the vegan specifics were not taken seriously. He merely assumed it was a dietary preference but veganism stands for much more than that. We even went through the menu card for items which could not be veganized yet this blunder was made. Dairy is a known allergen. If someone had pointed this out yet they were served with a dairy-containing dish, it would have seriously endangered their health. Either way, this was a serious breach of ethics. Throughout my meal, the manager kept approaching my table and trying to make conversation. It is understandable if this was done once or twice but it felt like an interrogation. I could not concentrate much on my food. Basil's Special Chicken Biryani was not impressive as far as biryanis go. The mock chicken, which was supposed to be the star of the dish, was undercooked. This was after I reheated it after being kept at room temperature. This dish came with a gravy which also contained animal fat (e.g. curd). I rate this experience a 1.5 stars but am unable to highlight half a star. The positive points are the ambience and aromas that waft through the atmosphere when the food arrives. Apart from that, the food clearly had issues and the place could be tidier (packs of water bottles were kept in sight of the customers and boxes were piled on top of a shelf which was not very pleasing. They had opened in June and it is expected of them to get things in order atleast a month into operations). I will not visit again.

Food was absolutely excellent both taste and quality wise! The only thing that beats that is the attitude and service of the staff! Left something unimportant behind and the waiter ran at least about 100m to find me and return it back. 10/10 would recommend.

Had a splendid meal at basils masala. The food was amazing and customer service was very accomadating. I would definately rate the food 5/5 and i strongly recommend the Mugalai briyani and mango lassi. The front line staff looks like mummy returns (botak fellow). I would strongly recommend Basil Masala to all.

A small and quaint eatery located a short walk away from Farrer Park station. Also able to prepare allium-free variants upon request. Although the menu isn't as comprehensive, I felt the quality is on par, if not better than Gokul at Upper Dickson.
