Great food & atmosphere. Funny chefs and staffs that interacting well with patrons. Can see the passions in their eyes. Not an ordinary dining experience. It’s a restaurant with heart and soul. I’m love this place and definitely will visit again… 17 June 2022: Revisit today to try the new menu with friends. 8 months apart, the quality is still there or maybe better. Kudos to team Ibid.💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽 Don’t get fooled by the look of the dishes. The simplest and most innocent looking one might give you the most surprises. Note: do try their cocktails. If you are unsure what to drink, let the chef design one for you… 😉

The experience is nothing short of spectacular coupled with comforting services with such attention to details that makes you feel at home. From baguettes baked to perfection to order to beautifully rich and spicy lobster laksa, Wai Leong's cuisine showcases the best of Contemporary European techniques and bold Asian flavors with perfect harmonical balance. It is deliciously comforting and culinarily innovative at once. A truly breathtaking culinary experience. Will recommend and will return.

Just an awesome place for a beautiful fusion meal. Plus, the kitchen was happy to change up the menu to suit a couple of pescatarians. Firstly, the starters are all amazing. Favourites were the sour dough bread with butter and sesame oil and the tofu skin with sardine. Secondly the mains were excellent, particularly the turbot, which was meaty and flavoursome. The desserts were all the real winners of the night, particularly the oolong tea baba, which was particularly spectacular. The wine matching was also great, especially the two Australian wines in the mix (a pinot noir and botrytis viognier). Finally the staff are awesome and make the mighty a winning experience.

Celebrated my wife’s birthday over dinner. Everything from the food, staff & ambience were great. Everyone from Chef Woo to the waitresses & assistants were hospitable & friendly. Throughout the meal, they took time to make conversation & introduced the dishes concisely. We could feel the passion & dedication behind the staff. Food was well executed & showed great thought, effort & concept. Especially liked their mapo tofu rendition, stuffed amela tomato & chestnut creme. Glad we caught the long-standing mapo tofu before it was phased out. Looking forward to the next menu! Ambience was intimate & unpretentious. Thanks for the great experience & Kudos once again to Chef Woo & his team!

I have been wanting to try this place for a long time and I'm glad I did. The service was amazing and they take time to make small talk. I liked the counter seats because you get to see all the action. Their dinnerware was also really pretty. Food-wise, I liked how it was innovative but delicious and the portions were just right. There was no course I disliked, but the pics were the four that I particularly enjoyed, especially the pineapple tart. :D

The food here is mind blowing. From the start to the end, it just keeps getting better. Two of the highlights of the night would certainly be the lamb wrapped with beancurd skin(?) and the risotto with prawns. Beyond the taste of the food, Chef Woo is such a fantastic storyteller it was a pleasure to hear the introduction of each dishes. I’d recommend to pair your food with a bottle of wine too. Will definitely revisit!

My boyfriend and I celebrated his birthday at Restaurant Ibid and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From start to finish, the staff were warm and friendly, making us feel right at home. We were impressed with the attention to detail that went into every dish, as Chef Woo himself took the time to explain the menu to us and answer any questions we had. It was clear that each dish was carefully crafted with a deep understanding of ingredients and flavor combinations. Overall, I highly recommend Restaurant Ibid to anyone looking for a truly memorable dining experience in Singapore. The level of care and attention put into every aspect of the meal, from the food to the service, is truly exceptional. We left feeling satisfied and impressed, and can't wait to come back for another visit.

A total of 12 courses included dessert. Only one impressed me, but 4 for my friend. But we both agreed the beef cheek is last, and the Murray cod Rillette is the best.

Service was warm and friendly, Chef Woo and team took great care of us throughout the night. Love the cocktails specially made by Chef. Food was spectacular especially the Salmon Mi-Cuit and the black rice mochi. The sourdough bread and pineapple tart was amazing too!! We will definitely be back again!

Had the wine paring tasting set. Really interesting culinary experience. Impressed by the attention to details and passion that goes into the preparation and presentation. As this genre involved freestyle creation with minimum scaffold from tradition and beloved recipies, there will be some hit and miss. It’s mostly hits here, the Hungarian pork, sourdough with Korean sesame oil tops it while the A5 Waghu misses slightly as the peppercorn stock drowns out the beef’s flavour though it’s still a tasty dish. Highly recommended!

A delightful dining experience. Chef Woo and team did a great job. The tasting menu is amazing. Personally I am not a big fan of fusion cuisine but Restaurant Ibid has changed my mind. Despite the number of ingredients used in the food, you can taste each ingredient distinctively yet all in harmony together. What made this place a winner is the attention to detail - and i mean every detail. One of the dishes contain minced pork and Chef immediately replaced it with one with lamb even after I said it is okay. And my friend, whose birthday is in a week’s time, was surprised with a dessert topped with a candle!!!! What is interesting is that birthday was briefly mentioned in a conversation with the lovely hostess and the Chef overheard it. Mind you that it was near full house. I have been to many fine dining restaurants locally and overseas but Restaurant Ibid is the the first who has left a deep positive impact and to me, should be made an example of what fine dining is all about. Not just food, but the whole package (ambience and service). And the the best of all is that no dress code is imposed (which is darn brilliant) - which means that if you are driving around in shorts and polo tee and nowhere you eat, you can just dine at Ibid!! I will definitely go back and cant wait for them to launch their bakery!!!

[Late review] Visited in June 2023 Ibid had been on my list for a long time and what a great experience it was. Not many restaurants can command a 4.9/5 rating on Google after 700+ reviews and one can see why. The menu is well thought out and the dish preparations are absolutely perfect. The Wagyu, Cod and Risotto dishes were brilliant and the desserts were great too. Service is really good. Chef Leong was also kind to have a long conversation on the fine dining scene in SG and provided some great insights on certain places to visit outside of SG. A definite recommendation for all residents of SG. This restaurant must be on your places to try.

4.5 stars! Been a minute since I last dined at Restaurant Ibid and it’s apparent how much Chef Wai Leong and his team have evolved. Every dish was thoughtful, complex in flavours (that worked) and creative. Whilst the bread garnered a lot of “ooohs” and refill requests, the few highlights for me were: - Kushikatsu which was inspired by McD’s chicken nugget & curry sauce - Local Squid where it looked innocent but had a strong yet subtle sambal kick - Mapo tofu foie gras but really that crossiant *ooohh* - Ibid roast duck in spite of the fact I’m not a fan of “dang gui” - both desserts which were awesome The hospitality was great and we had a heck of a great time!

Service was very good even better than some 5 stars hotels. We enjoyed our 8 course meal- and every dish was very unique. Out of all the dishes, I didn't like maybe 2 out of 8 but it's still overall great meal. Their coissant bread is one of the best, will try their bakery items once they are opened.

Would give 10* if i could! Best experience ever. Went here to celebrate bf birthday. Had to book over 1 month in advance. Had huge expectations after reading all great reviews and recommendations from my friends. But reality? It was unimaginably incredible, exceeded all my expectations! Get the 8-course tasting menu and wine pairings so you don’t miss anything. Price wise, reasonable with all the food we got. Cheaper but much better than Burnt ends. I almost don’t want to write this review so i can keep this place under the radar... go and eat here before they get michelin star! Thank you to all staff and chef for amazing experience. We will be back very soon :)

I had a great experience at this restaurant! The staff was very friendly and spent time explaining every dish in detail. The food was delicious. I was impressed by the flavours, the presentation and the attention to detail that went into every dish. The wine was of high quality and I received an extra glass on the house which I really appreciated! The chef was also super friendly and gave me a list of recommendations on things to do in Singapore. I will be definitely coming back when I visit Singapore again!

The hospitality and food at Ibid will make you want to return again and again. Chef Wai Leong and his team are always so welcoming and generous with their guests, we had many good laughs over the course of dinner. Food is amazing and very satisfying portion-wise. Their take on local/familiar flavours like Mapo tofu are very well done and enjoyable, even for someone like me who can’t take too much heat in their dishes. Baguette and brioche toasts are impeccable. They always have me at their desserts — this time their chestnut crème with baba au rhum, coffee and sake lees. Textures and flavours are so well balanced, just incredible. I definitely look forward to returning again when the menu changes!

My very close friend recommend Restaurant Ibid as a must try restaurant in Singapore. I am so glad that I listened to her advice and booked a reservation a month in advance before flying from the UK. In all honesty, the best meal I had in 2021. The experience was unparalleled it brings together innovative and fine dining paired with hospitality like you were chilling at your best friend's home. It cannot get any better! The restaurant is small and intimate, with seats overlooking the chefs making their magic. I felt so at home and Wai Leong is the best host. There were laughs alongside great food. I hope my photos give justice to the amazing meal that I had. Must try and make sure you put it on your list when you visit Singapore!

Take my money lah, takeeeee. That's how good the food is. Could probably end the review here cos it really sums up how I feel the two times I've been to Ibid but maybe I'll just add a bit more to convince those who have not tried it yet (why not?!). I really appreciate the entire experience at Ibid; the good service, the friendliness of the staff, the good wine recommendations and of course the fooooood. The they way they do fusion here? I'm left wondering how do they come up with this? & then more please? (Okay maybe not more cos by the end of the night, the struggle to get up and move is real.) The highlight for me last night would be the Mapo Tofu paired with the cubed croissant - you think you know Mapo Tofu and then you try theirs and yuppp, leaves you spoiled and don't even get me started on the croissant. I could continue waxing lyrical about the food here but I think it's best if you give them a try yourself!

Came here for Valentines Day, tried their Valentines Day Menu, and loved it. It’s a smaller restaurant (only about 7 seatings, 14 people total) which made the food and place feel much more intimate. Chef Wai Leong was extremely friendly and we had a great time conversing with him whilst enjoying the dishes he had prepared for the day. Serving was done at 7:25 pm for all the tables and the meal ended around 10:15 pm. The food was amazing and was Asian inspired, definitely will be coming back when I get the chance! P.S: they have a great wine menu, I’d recommend the Spanish wine we had: Matarromera Crianza 2017

Undisputed and undefeated. My No. 1 restaurant and dining experience in Singapore. Every dish was so intelligent and refined as part of the whole menu that there is nothing to critique. Sounds hyperbolic, until you eat there and you realise perfection does exist.

Greeted with great enthusiasm at the reception and lovely food throughout. Was a little taken back with the chef's bombastic character as he threw a fork on the floor scolding his staff in front of all the customers sitting at the bar. Nonetheless, a great place for date night and its nice to know that they change up their menu ever so often.

We chose to try Restaurant Ibid for our birthday celebration this year. They blew my mind with the creativity of their food and their courage to venture into the unknown. Go big or go home they say. And Ibid certainly didn’t hold back on their desire to be bold and try what others have not. There are many good fine dining restaurants but the key is how you create the wow factor and create even the slightest temptation to revisit soon. The last two restaurants that gave me this feeling was Andre and then Mosu. Mark my words, this place can become very big. It was hard to decide which dish was the best for the night. But if I can to choose, it would have been the Mangalica Pork. It looks just like steak, and tastes incredulously divine. The pair with a glass elio perrone mongovone hit the right notes. This dish can’t get any better than this. Big shout out to Chef Woo and his team, particular Anita who has been wonderful through the evening. We will see you soon.

Exceptional experience from start to finish. A warm and inviting ambiance from the crew set the stage right, followed by a brief introduction on every dish served and occasional interactions with Chef Woo. Each dish was a symphony of flavors with a meticulous blend of creativity and expertise - a delightful balance between classic and innovative creations. Loved it.

We had a wonderful Anniversary celebration at Ibid! Chef Leong was very friendly and we had the best seats in the house (at the bar) so we could watch all the food prep. The food was excellent along with the service! The other chefs and waiters were extremely friendly and polite. I love how the food managed to fuse different cultures into one - for example one dish was Boston lobster with Melaka laksa. Definitely will return!

Chef Woo WL does it again. He never fails to recreate the best of dishes. We are long time customers since he started Restaurant ibid. In the early days a full duck was offered on top of the usual menu. We had to go in a bigger group (at least 4 persons). Now a teaser slice of succulent goodness with signature 5-spice sauce just leaves u begging for more!! Yum 🤤 Fantastic service and conversations too at the chef table. We also noticed each staff is trained to check in with each and every table and try their best to ensure every diner is having a great time. See latest menu on their website to correlate the photos posted pls.

Just wow! The food was incredible and the staff were fantastic. We really enjoyed being able to watch the food being prepared in front of us, it made us appreciate it even more! The kindness shown to us by Woo Wai and the team was great, they provided us with a list of other food places to try out across Singapore. Our only complaint is that they are too far away for us to come more often! Looking forward to the opening of the London restaurant! 😉

Congratulations to all the Ibid team. We had a great time last night - amazing menu with wine paring. Totally worth the experience. Throughout the dinner (don’t miss out a sit at the counter) we had the chance to talk and observe the chef Woo. That made this experience even better. Totally different from all other fine dining I have been. We could appreciate all the small details and techniques.

Best restaurant I've been to in Singapore! Firstly, the food quality is excellent. Starting from the home-made sourdough bread that's freshly baked everyday to the French butter, to the curry cod, sakura pork, seaweed risotto, to the mouthwatering desserts 😍 The white wine we had was great as well. Secondly, the dining experience is mind-blowing. The variety of ingredients, textures, flavors and the unique and thoughtful ways they were prepared, plated and presented gave me surprise after surprise. Thirdly, Chef Woo and the other chefs / assistants really left an indelible impression. They were incredibly friendly, explaining each dish and sometimes the story behind it well without using superfluous words, or cheem foreign words. Chef Woo also makes it a point to help us take insta-worthy shots and make conversation with all the diners! 😊 Lastly, we received a bonus Bingsu on the house for our anniversary celebration, which is such a sweet touch. Needless to say, we'll be coming back again and I'll be recommending everyone I know about this restaurant!!

My first time I chanced upon Restaurant Ibid's Google listing, I thought to myself, "No way, 5-stars on 600+ reviews?" First visit to Restaurant Ibid was in 2022 for Valentine's Day dinner, and it certainly did not disappoint! Fast forward to 2023, my partner and I are back again to Restaurant Ibid for Valentine's dinner. Yet again, Chef Wai Leong never disappoints with his constant innovation of the menu and his creations. From bringing familiar Asian flavours out from high-grade ingredients to making full use of ingredients (to ensure no wastage), Chef Wai Leong has got all bases covered. Please do yourself a favour and get a counter seat! That way, you can be at the front row seat for Chef's preparation and plating show. What are you waiting for? Click that booking link now to get a seat at Singapore's best restaurant! (in my humble opinion)

First time at Ibid last night. Brought my mother and we thoroughly enjoyed dinner. Flavours were on point. Although I'm not a fan of Chinese/ Asian cuisine, Waileong's take on all the dishes was so smart and easy on the palate. The squid dish was a pleasant surprise as I usually stay away from such dishes due to its chewy texture but Waileong's team delivered this perfectly and I cleared the plate! Waileong and team make great hosts who knew when to chime in to conversations and when to give guests their private time. Will definitely be back.

Definitely a 5 stars! The dinner tasting menu was hearty and super memorable. There was nothing on the menu that we didn't like. Our favourite dishes were mapo tofu with a square croissant and the crunchy prawn toast starter. The square croissant was simply amazing and lifted up the whole eating experience. The restaurant was very cozy and I love the idea of the open kitchen concept. Chef Woo was also super nice and friendly. Service was brilliant. For sure we will come back for a new menu!

From interacting with the staff for a booking, to finishing the last sip of a custom made cocktail... Restaurant Ibid is everything you want it to be, and then some. Where to start!? We sat at the bar which we loved because we got to see all the intricate food prep first hand. Everyone that works at this restaurant cares about people and gets food. The whole night was one delight after the other. It truly is the perfect mix of fine dining and relaxed atmosphere. Between the two of us, we shared a 5 course and a 8 course meal and although this was perfect portion wise, I regret not having 8 courses each just so we could have the cod and pineapple tart each. Everything was amazing but those two dishes plus the insanely life changing mapo tofu made our night!! In the end, I also got a custom cocktail made for me and it was delicious! Highly recommend!!!

What a special meal, probably the first fine dining experience where I can hand on heart say is from a uniquely Singaporean point of view. Excellent sauces, you can talk to the staff about the ingredients and they know what they're talking about. 8 courses will leave you fuller than full, warm, attentive service and seats by the counter means you get to watch the action unfold. Great camaraderie from the team shows their positive working environment, and it shows. Thanks for a great evening!

Every time I visit Ibid, I know to expect 3 things: a new-old menu full of familiar tastes applied in unfamiliar combinations; wait staff who are delightful, knowledgeable, and personable with their service; and to end the night so full I require aid rolling out the door. The wagyu was a familiar favourite, as were the Chinese pear and pineapple tart desserts. The tuna appetiser was a light, textural start to the meal, the squid course bore new flavours of ma la and garlic aioli, and the individually robust flavours of the cod course tempered each other when eaten together. But the highlight of the night had to be the mapo tofu with foie gras and Chef Woo's highly anticipated (to me, at least) croissant cubes. If I had gone home eaten nothing but that course I would have gone home happy.

Therefore, it may be highly evaluated because it feels like a good deal, but it is expensive if you think of it as Chinese food. The service is excellent. (Original) 中華をフレンチ or おまかせ風にサーブするコンセプト。そのためお得感を感じて評価が高いのであろうが、中華と考えれば割高。サービスは素晴らしい。

A memorable and particularly enjoyable dinner where everything has been perfect from start to finish. To be fair, we were certainly lucky not to have a full house room, which gave us a quasi private kitchen experience with the chefs. Great ideas in the menu, both for western or Asian palates, and some dishes have pricey ingredients (Maine lobster, foie gras, wagyu) which were a very pleasant surprise. My favorite restaurant in Singapore so far!

Celebrated wife's birthday at resturant ibid. Chef Woo certainly did not disappoint with his creative take on chinese cuisines, making it an memorable experience for my wife and I. Would definitely visit again!

We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday a couple of weeks ago and were not disappointed. Creative and well thought out menu, the standouts were the mapo tofu, the rice, and omg both desserts were divine. The herbal mochi was so unique and paired so well with the mint ice cream and goji berries, i would have asked for a second helping if at all possible, and if we hadn't been so stuffed by then. The warm pineapple cake with the milk tea ice-cream was equally divine and so memorable. We liked all the dishes, but thought the tuna and the beef paled slightly in comparison with the rest of the dishes. We loved the casual and unpretentious ambience, and special shoutout to Tim and Chef Wai Leong for the exceptional service, but all staff were excellent. Overall, we loved the personalised touch to the dining experience, and we felt we were REALLY well taken care of, and the staff really cared about what they do (something sorely lacking in even some fine dining spots in SG). i loved that i am not obligated to dress to the nines to dine well, even if i may dress up a little out of respect to the other diners and the restaurant staff. We cannot wait to go back, even if it means we have to brace ourselves for another episode of food coma.

We had an enjoyable experience . The dish that made a lasting impression (in our humble opinion) was the mapo tofu foie gras with croissant cube . Every detail of the dish was nicely presented. Cozy atmosphere , friendly staff awesome and humble Exec chef

2nd time at Restaurant Ibid and it remains one of my all-time favourite restaurants to dine at. The passion in the staff are evident in both the service and food - notable dishes included the Ibid duck and their take on mapo tofu. Highly recommended!

The starter of Sour Plum Tripe is interesting. I don't fancy offal but I find myself accepting this. The addition of mala to the Mapo Tofu is good but I find this dish, with Foie Gras and Croissant, over-rated. I had higher expectations of this dish after reading the rave reviews. I like the icy bits of Verjus Granita in the cured Swordfish with Herb Salad dish. It is a really refreshing addition to the dish. The Iberico Katsu with Spiced Banana Ketchup and Oba leaf is nice but unfortunately having to chew on some tough silverskin that's not removed reduced my enjoyment of the dish. I didn't enjoy the Xinjiang Lamb Rack as the cut of the meat is too fatty for my liking. The fats has too much of a gamey taste although I normally like lambs with strong taste. My favourite main is the Grilled Lobster which was cooked just right with superb grilled flavour. I like the dessert Orange Sherbet with Osmanthus Vinegar and Pomelo. The bitterness, sourness and tinge of sweetness is well balanced. To me, the highlight of the entire dinner is the Baba au Baijiu with Fermented Rice. The waiter who served us, Abhishek (I am sorry if I spelt your name wrongly) told us that this is his favourite dish. After tasting it, I totally agreed with him. The warm cake soaked in fermented rice (think its jiu niang, similar to the Japanese Amazake) is so moist, with the fermented liquid oozing out with every bite. - I would like to thank Abhishek (again please pardon me for the spelling) for making us feel welcomed throughout our dinner.

We visited in April and had a wonderful time dining at Restaurant Ibid. The menu was well thought out and the dishes absolutely delicious. We really enjoyed interacting with the staff and Chef. Chef even took the time to made a list of restaurants we should check out in Singapore. Everyone there is really passionate about food. This is definitely a place for a food nerd. And as gen z would say, the food is bussin’.
