👍 Very good zhi char, generous portion at very reasonable price. Highly recommend their HKM, stir fry French bean , marmite pork ribs and Ngoh Hiang. We had 6 dishes and drinks and it costs $112. People often mention good, fried, rice, dishes, delicious, lunch, Hokkien, taste, char, pork,

I recently dined at this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the strip fried items they served. The dishes had a slight "Wok Hey" flavor, indicating that they were skillfully prepared in a hot wok. This added a delightful smoky taste to the dishes and made them quite enjoyable. With their affordable prices, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit for a satisfying and flavorful meal.

I dont know if it's dishonesty or they didnt update their menu. But i ordered #22 which says it comes w/rice, but the cashier charge me 50 cents more for rice. It's not about the money, it's the principle

Pleasantly surprised by the sheer deliciousness of the HKM - dry style, a bit starchy though. Prawn paste chicken mid joint, fried crispy yet not overly oily, shiok! Oyster omelette was another highlight, fluffy egg! Stir fried Bitter gourd fish head not bad. Ordered a serving of wat tan hor fun… but was mediocre at best. Thus the minus 1 star. Overall a lovely little eatery down town for an above average zichar fare meal. No air conditioned.

San Lou hor fun uses ultra broad hor fun. It did not had the sear of the wok thus tasted plain. Mild for my liking. Fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. Salted egg chicken with rice was excellent! The nuggets were well deep fried and retained its crustiness. Salted egg sauce was unctuous and superbly flavored which went well with rice. Very moreish Their yam cake is outstanding. Chokeful of yam and mushroom. Only available via advance order for Saturday's pick up. Highly recommended.

An awesome zichar dinner place with a great variety of affordable dishes for family gatherings. We loved the moonlight hor fun, the signature ngoh hiang, as well as the delicious pork ribs and salted egg chicken. Value for money and worth a visit!!

go-to lunch place in the cbd even though it takes 10mins to walk from my office. love the variety and their special fried chicken. great value for the savoury food. you have to make sure to be early as they don’t restock on sold out food items. highly recommended!

Really good delicious Hokkien Mee. Hor fun was decent too. Hope they keep it up with the taste of the food. It’s a causal place, try to overlook it with a bit of self service like getting your own cutlery, scoop your own ice for your drinks etc.

Good food, stir fry available after 11am a must try. Delicious and reasonably priced. Please also try their toasted bread (roti bakar) my favourite. Friendly husband wife team. Great quiet and comfortable ambiance. Basically it's a awesome venue for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thumbs-up for me 👍🏻

Have my happy hour at Rainbow Rice House, met up with Louis Tay, offered to fried his specialty, Hokkien Mee for me, indeed, was a flavorful ‘wok hei’ plate of the HKM, no doubt, I was impressed by the way he cooked, (miss out to video the wok fire, ) good to try..👍😋, the sambal belachan was so good to blend with the noodle

Very chill vibes, good go-to a quick lunch with your office buddies. The food served (there's caifan and zichar available to order from) is superb and affordable!

Tried the most popular item on the menu, Fried Hokkien PRAWN Mee, which was delicious but contained only ONE PRAWN. 😅 The chilli was superb. Ordered salted egg pork rib rice but was given pork rib king rice instead, which was all good as it tasted great and staff was apologetic. Overall service was friendly. Eatery was spacious and comfortable but its cleanliness was suspicious if you have visited the toilet.

First time at Rainbow Rice House, I ordered Hokkien Mee, I think the Hokkien Mee was fried very well and aesthetically there is no complain. Just find that the mee was fried a bit bland to my taste but if you mixed with the chilli, it quite tasty, not overly salty as well. Overall I would recommend you to try out. Just that when ordering, it may be a bit of chaotic since that it just a small walkway to the counter to order. There is also mixed rice here but haven't tried it. Also those ordering the tze char will get beeper and collect when it ready so you don't have to stand there and wait. There are ample tables if you come early. Tables seems to be quite full at 12.30pm serving the afternoon crowd.

Know this place for a year and was a regular customer here . After a long gap I came here again to buy horfan but being treated rudely by the aunty . I also realised that she treated other customers at the back rudely too . I can understand that this is a busy restaurant especially during lunch time but atleast they should’ve communicate with customers in a good way. I’ll never come here again .

Decently priced Zi Char dishes at premium area. Came during weekday dinner and the cai fan dishes are finished. Had the Hokkien Mee which tasted pretty good but can be more generous with the prawn. The uncle is very friendly for delivering the food to me instead of me picking it up!

Have known this place for years and I finally found it again after it moved! Had the Kampung fried rice (家乡炒饭) and Dry Hor Fun (干炒河粉) and they were absolutely delicious. The wokhei fragrance is strong and the taste is just right, not too salty. It isn’t too oily as well. The food is reasonably priced too for such a very VERY generous serving of tze char food in the CBD. The fried rice is $5.50 including the egg and the dry hor fun is $5. Their chilli sauce is tasty too, quite spicy and tangy, goes well with both the fried rice and dry hor fun. The colour looks different from most chilli sauce but doesn’t matter, because it is good. This place is a little bit hidden from usual lunch/dinner locations but it really is worth making a special trip down just to have it. I will definitely be back for more!

I love this family restaurant. The auntie is very friendly & we tried what’s recommended. Hokkien Mee is their hot favourite 5/5 Brinjal pork floss 4.5/5 (alittle salty), ngoh hiong 5/5,French bean 4/5, oyster egg 5/5, lala soup 3.5/5. Was waiting to try the beef rendang but it took so long to be ready so quite disappointed as it wasn’t ready by the time we finished. From ordering of food to being served we waited 20mins & by the time we cleared finish 5dishes 25mins later still wasn’t ready. The other lady didn’t want to cancel the order for the rendeng but we all finished and was ready to go. Thankfully the Male staff agreed once he heard. otherwise it’s worth to try the dishes, it’s good Zhi char

Tried their curry fish head! Its unlike the normal claypot or soupy kind. A good experience to try. The taukee will still be crispy and not mushy soon after! Just that the the scales are not properly taken care off. All else is good!

I usually order the hometown fried rice which used to taste really delicious, but the standard has dropped a fair bit over the years. Even the freshly prepared sunny-side up fried egg is now replaced by a pre-cooked overdone fried egg.

The stall used to be located in the Hock Hai Building. Good food, especially their sambal seafood fried rice, which I always craved when my office was there in 2018. The attitude of the female boss was still bad when I visited them last week, 14 November 2022. As a matter of fact, I have also witnessed her bad attitude towards other customers. I will never patronize them again.

Best fish head curry. Well balance of flavours; not too spicy or creamy. This tasty dish goes well with plain white rice. Overall...5 stars.

Seriously good zi char at seriously good prices. Their dry-fried noodle dishes are very very food. Previously over by Hong Lim, but recently moved into this brand new, clean and comfortable space. Gets busy during lunch hours. They are open for dinner but not too late. Highly recommended.

Affordable and delicious food in town! One of the best cai pngs I had in the vicinity. $7.90 for a plate of 1egg, 1veg, 2 meat caifan and a cup of chilled barley. Very affordable and reasonable price for this area. They also sell tzechar which I will definitely return to try!
