Average chicken rice with not so average price. Despite the queue being long, it was a short wait only. Don't be discouraged by the long queue. Taste wise really feels like average neighborhood chicken rice. Definitely not as good as boon tong kee. Service was good. But they only accept cash. Which is a big downside. Atmosphere wise, Maxwell being Maxwell is damn hot in the afternoon

Located within Maxwell foot center in Chinatown, this stall is a very well-known for their hainanese chicken rice. However, after trying it, we were really disappointed. Nothing special about the dish. I have eaten much better chicken rice elsewhere. Staffs can be more friendly and welcoming. Not really worth to try in my opinion.

Hyped place with a long line. Prices are not the cheapest but not crazy high. Had the big plate for 7.80 which had a separate plate with only meat. Have to say that the meat was very nice. The rice is good but lacks a bit of the fragrance in my opinion. The uncle is not friendly but at the time they had a high workload so it's more understandable. The vegetables were very good actually. I just don't know why they only serve the red chili sauce and not the ginger/scallion sauce. Either way I would say it's worth trying if you come to Maxwell Hawker Centre

    - Located in Maxwell Food Center. - During my visit here at the weekend, the queue was quite long, but the service was quicker than what I expected, which makes me only have to wait around 10-15 minutes. - I ordered the medium-sized chicken rice (which is the most popular dish). After finishing it, I could say that the chicken was quite tender, juicy and plenty. But not tasty enough that I would give 5 star - They only accept cash too.

Super tasty chicken rice by far. It’s tender, juicy. The rice itself has big portion, and super well seasoned, can taste the ginger and garlic too. Which i like. Nice stir vegetable. The dipping chilli sauce is really compliment and perfect for overall chicken rice. We come twice in a row during our visit in singapore. Be prepared for super long queues, but the line goes fast tho.

If you never try Hainanese Chicken Rice before in Singapore, or a traveler first visit Singapore. I surely recommend this unique and popular food stall. They are probably the most popular most famous food stall in this market. You can tell from their super long queue and the foods on the table, almost 30% of the table has a plate of their chicken rice. Looking at the chicken, it was soft and tender, they are using meat cagt chicken, very meaty but texture is much softer than free-range feed Kampong chicken, which is firmer, tender and sweet. So, definitely Tian Tian chicken was a tasty one, but they must adding their unique sauce so to have overall good taste, without the sauce, taste was plain, but still very meaty. Eating the chicken with their down made fresh chilli. It was definitely a pleasure eating experience. As for their rice, it was very tasty and delicious, full of chicken soup fragrance and sweetness. Rice texture was fluffy and moist. Eating the rice by itself was already a satisfying experience. Overall, pricing at $6 per plate, I find it was slightly over priced, due to this hawker centre has lots of international travelers around the world visiting especially during lunch time. $6 for a medium size I what I order was probably over-price, $5.5 or $5 will be fair. Anyway, this is best food for travelers to try but not local like us. B'cos we know many good chicken rice in town with lesser queue and much affordable, so save your time for other foods, not recommended. 💥 Welcome to my food sharing Instagram: jkgourmets. 欢迎游览我的美食IG: jkgourmets

Famous place for Hainanese chicken rice in Singapore. The chicken is really good, well-cooked. But the rice is more amazing, very tasty rice. Better come here before rush hour, the queues is quite long and the seat is limited. Price is really reasonable, worth the quality.

Ordered Large portions. Since the apple advertisement and Malay Chicken Ban. Coming weekdays before 10 AM Services was great and quick Price on the high side at the moment Rice and Chicken taste great moist and spot on , chili also nice . Not so much oil like other competitors. Its Tourist spot. So downside is very easy to get queue during lunch time.

Sure you have to queue because it is a bit touristy. And sure there may be other “better” ones out there. But it is still a really good plate of hainanese chicken rice. Succulent meat, tasty rice and the chili has a nice kick.

Gone are long queues when the tourists who came due to write ups. Overrated for very average chicken rice or standard has dropped badly. Rice was not fragrant and chicken was quite bland. Chilli is saving grace. Was shocked at $5 standard pack ( not even drumstick) for take away. Definitely going to Ah Tai next time at this hawker center.

Ordered the famous chicken rice (SGD 6 for medium size) and it was tasty. I especially liked the chicken meat and skin. Highly recommend eating the dish with some chili 🌶 Expect to line up in this stall but don't worry since the queue is fast-moving.

One of the best chicken rice in Singapore. Favorite is the white boiled chicken which is moist and tender accompanied by fragrant rice which tasty enough to eat on its own. The chili sauce is spicy and potent, goes very well with the chicken. Price is reasonable. Note that queue can be long during lunch time but it usually moves fast so that the wait is rarely more than 20 minutes.

There is a super long queue and don’t be afraid, it moves really fast. Only takes about 20min to get the food. Ordered a medium size chicken rice set at $6. No soup, no vegetables. Only rice and chicken with chili sauce. Honestly speaking, I am disappointed about the chicken rice. Since I have had a delicious chicken rice somewhere else at a lower price. The rice feels oily and salty, and not very fragrant. Also a strong flavor of the spiciness of ginger. The chicken is very moist and mushy. I will not recommend this place. It is overrated.

Back to Singapore after a few years and decide to try this place again. It is still good and worth paying a visit when in the area. I ordered one Tian Tian Chicken Rice (M) and one Oyster Sauce Vegetables (S), $10 in total. The chicken is soft and juicy, the chilli sauce is pretty good and well-paired with the chicken and the rice (cooked with chicken broth). The vegetables are cooked nicely, really crunchy. The long is quite long so get prepared. However, it clears pretty quick as they are quite efficient. The Maxwell Food Centre is a bit hot in the afternoon though.

One of the most famous of them all Chicken rice stall in Singapore 🇸🇬 The late Anthony Bourdain says the rice is so good and it is true!! You can taste the yumminess of each grain of rice 🍚 The line lining up for it is testament to how popular this is to the locals. I knocked back a star as the chicken was not as wow as their rice. Plus there is no soup to go with their chicken rice as is the usual case.

I heard this restaurant is famous in Singapore so, I went to try on both the steamed chicken rice and roasted chicken rice, I wouldn’t regret it. I prefer roasted chicken rice because it’s strong taste and more delicious! The taste of chicken are soft and sweet from the fresh chicken, I don’t how to cook like this taste. It’s different from the chicken rice that I have ever eaten, I think here is the best for me, it’s not expensive when compared with the living cost in Singapore. If you don’t mind the time, let try on it once! Because I waited to order around 20 minutes due to a lot of people in the line of queue.

Chicken looks nicer than it tastes. The glossy look of the chicken was inviting, but the taste was average at best. Chicken was smooth, tender and thickly cut, but the brown gravy was underwhelming and tasted one dimensional. Rice was average, nothing special and not fragrant. The lady cashier was impatient and grouchy. They were also stingy with the dipping sauces. Ordered half chicken but was given one tiny saucer of chilli sauce. Had to request for one more. Also, had to ask for black sauce. Needless to say, they do not provide ginger. Anyway, I gave up asking since they looked as if the customers owed them a million dollars. Only the cuttlefish bean sprouts was quite crunchy and tasty. Will not return in the near future.

Fantastic Hainanese chicken rice in Singapore! The queue was pretty long, like 15 to 20mins of waiting, but the wait was totally worth it. The chicken was tender and the rice absorb the sauce of the chicken was full of flavor which was awesome. If you’re able to try the spicy sauce, you definitely have to take it! Would definitely come again for this amazing chicken rice!

Maybe the best chicken rice i have eaten. A taxi driver recommended this place and said we would know it by the long lineup. He said the food was delicious and cheap. He was right on all accounts. Lineup extended outside the food centre but moved quickly. Chicken was juicy and succulent, rice a treat on its own and the hot sauce had heat AND flavour. Yum!!

Very good Hainanese chicken and rice. Perfectly poached chicken 5$ for a medium serve. I could easily eat another plate. The shop was only open 10 minutes and there was a line. There is a stall opposite selling large bottles of beer for $7…. Perfect combination.

Seeing all the rave reviews, this has been on my to-visit list for a while - and I finally did. I did not come with very high expectation, as chicken rice is such a staple here in Singapore and you can find one in almost all food centres. I ordered both the roast and steamed chicken. Between the two, I was pleasantly surprised how juicy, tender and chewy the steamed chicken is. No wonder it is a favourite for tourists and local alike.

Haven’t had it for a few years, oh yes! It’s still probably the best chicken rice! Looks plain but every part is just so good- fragrant rice, perfectly judged sauce, softest chicken, chilli sauce that’s not over powering.

This shop is often recommended as one of the best chicken rice in Singapore. Several years ago I visited here, and when I visited again, I still preferred chicken rice at other places. When I visited, the queue wasn't too long, maybe because it was still early. Service is quite fast. Prices seem a bit overpriced

One of the must-try chicken rice stall in Spore. The chicken meat is fresh and succulent. In fact, the fragrant rice is nice enough to eat alone with their special homemade sauce. I always pick roasted and white chicken drumsticks as my favourite choice. Oh yes…the house made chilli sauce is beautifully spicy 🤣

Every blogger raves about Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice. Tourists and Singaporeans queue up for it, so I thought I should go try it. Holding a Michelin Bib Gourmand award; and celebrity chefs such as Gordon Ramsey & Anthony Bourdain have dined there, so must be good? Unfortunately i think they are just comparable to other chicken rice in Singapore and they don’t even offer ginger and dark soya sauce, so will mark it 3 1/2 stars only.

Tian Tian chicken rice still get their long queue these days, perhaps a little shorter during these Covid-19 heightened alert times. Their boiled chicken (white chicken - an all time fav) still done to perfection - tender with smooth silky skin texture. Roasted chicken was good too but a tate too salty for me. Inards were well done and good. Rice was fragrant. Their chicken rice chilli and grounded ginger still goes well with the food. Pouring some chilli sauce and dark sauce to mix and eat with the chicken rice was still wonderful. For chicken rice, their taste was good though price a,little more on the price side.

Went in around 2.15 pm and there was no Queue..friendly uncle took the order, paid and instructed me to take a pair of fork and knife..Ordered the Roasted Chicken Rice and Veggies in Oyster Sauce..total was S$9 and food arrived quickly.. I was a bit apprehensive as once a joint gets popular it’s quality gets unpopular but this seems to have still got it..fluffy rice, and soft chicken..did not feel oily and greasy at all.. Vegetables were crunchy and the sauce not overpowering..Will be back again.. Located inside Maxwell Food Centre

Because I had already eaten chicken rice at another hawker, upon seeing the line at tian tians I told my partner it’s okay, it’s not worth it. My partner asked me am I sure, and refused to take yes as an answer so we decided to wait and the line actually moved relatively quick. Long story short it was the best chicken rice I’ve had, order the bean sprouts too, just wait 👍✨

Chicken rice (m): Oo this was goood. The rice is fragrant with a slight coconut flavor. The chicken is so juicy and flavorful. The sauce on top adds to the chicken flavor. The orange sauce was coconutty and refreshing but also spicy. One issue was mine had a lot of bones though. 4.5/5

For SGD6.50, got a taste of one of Singapore's sought after Hainanese Chicken Rice at Tian Tian in Maxwell Hawker Center. The buzz is well-deserved after it got a lot of press thanks to Chefs Gordon Ramsay who challenged for a cook-off (Chicken Rice) and lost and +Tony Bourdain+ who claimed that the rice "was so fragrant and delicious, it could be eaten on its own." We arrived at half past six in the evening and only a few servings were left. Ordered 6 and got a free platter of Chinese Bok choy. What a treat! It is also listed in the Michelin Guide as one of Singapore's Cheap Eats that's worth a visit. The chicken was tender and the rice was really flavorful. I could just imagine the number of hours chicken bones and other seasonings are brought to a boil to come up with the chicken broth that soaks the rice. They only gave a chili sauce and not the usual triumvirate of dark, sweet soy, chili and ginger. They must be confident that their Chicken Rice delivers without the need of additional flavor layers.

The best chicken rice that we had so far. We arrived around 6 pm on Friday. I guessed there's more than 30 people already queue up. But for our surprise, the waiting period was not that long. The service was efficient. We managed to order steam chicken only since they out of roasted chicken. The chicken was so tender and juicy. And we absolutely fall in love with it. The rice was really good.

Lives up to its Michelin Gourmand reputation. Succulent chicken, fragrant and fluffy rice. Chilli sauce acidity and spiciness compliments both the rice and chicken perfectly. The line length can be a little confronting but service is surprisingly fast and efficient.

The best chicken rice in Singapore hands down. There’s usually a small line if you go during peak hours, but it’s worth it. The chicken is perfectly steamed and moist. The rice is flavoured with garlic and sesame, add the chili sauce for extra spice. We’ll go to Tian Tian twice in one day, it’s that good. Highly recommend!

  • 4/5 Daphne S. 4 months ago on Google
Chicken is fleshy and tender. Does live up to it's reputation. Sauce given is salty enough. Chilli is spicy enough no dark soy sauce nor garlic. Rice is fluffy. Quite generous a portion, though for $6, it is expected. No soup provided. We tried the beansprouts with cuttlefish for $4. It was OK. Nothing to shout about. The queue was manageable and efficient.

Before my trip to Singapore, I had never experienced the allure of Hainanese chicken rice. I couldn’t understand why people raved about this seemingly flavorless dish. However, my visit to Singapore and a few culinary adventures later, I found myself at Maxwell Hawker, eagerly digging into a plate of Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice. My first bite was a revelation! The tender, succulent chicken, cooked to perfection, melted in my mouth. The rice, subtly fragrant and cooked with chicken broth, added a delightful depth of flavor. But the real magic lay in the condiments – the piquant chili sauce and the aromatic ginger paste, which transformed the dish into a symphony of flavors. The contrast between the silky chicken and the crispy skin, coupled with the explosive flavors of the condiments, left me craving for more. I finally understood why Hainanese chicken rice is a national treasure in Singapore. Tian Tian at Maxwell Hawker exceeded all my expectations. The chicken was incredibly juicy, the rice was a fragrant delight, and the friendly atmosphere of the hawker center added to the experience. If you’re in Chinatown, Singapore, don’t miss the opportunity to savor this mouthwatering dish. It’s a culinary journey that will change your perception of “flavorless” food forever.

This places was phenomenal. One of the best Hainanese Chicken Rice places I have tried. Classic cooking style, braised chicken, chicken rice, cucumbers and sauce, with chilli on the side. Just so tender chicken and the rice so flavourful. A must try on visiting Singapore. And all for less than $8.

I went to maxwell on Sunday at 5 pm and still had some queue. I ordered the chicken rice with M size. Tasty, smells good and delicious. We also ordered their oyster sauce vegetables. The chicken is really soft, tender, juicy and all of that you named it. We also get some sambal to make it more spicy (which I like it). The place is quite nice, I recommend you go there in evening around 5-6 pm to enjoy the weather more. Will definitely coming back.

The best Hainanese chicken rice i've ever had. The rice is really what makes the dish stand out. I always make sure to go here whenever I'm in Singapore. Just a tip, go here before 11am so that you won't have to line up too long. We were here around 10:30am and only had to queue for 5 min.

I love eating Hainan chicken and this is one of the best!!! Queued up for 15 minutes, worth it. We went there twice in our 5-days trip in Singapore LOL We both ordered Chicken Rice Medium for the first time as it stated ‘Most popular choice’ on the menu. Full but we find that not enough with the chicken. And therefore, we went the second time and we ordered Half Chicken and plain chicken rice. We went there in Feb, 2023. Still miss it after 3 months home. Recommend and will re-visit again if coming to Singapore again.

Visited this stall at 8th August. Although there is always long queue, but they serve the food very quick, so you won't wait too long to get your food. The chicken meat is very tender and the rice is very tasty, while its price is affordable. It is a good food at an affordable price

Overall enjoyed the dish. Though not the best I have ever had. Chicken was tender but if you know how to cook the texture is very easily achievable at home. Rice was average. I arrived in the morning and the rice had the texture of overnight rice. The wait time was only about 10 minutes. Staff was friendly.

The famous chicken rice in the town! The taste is good, maybe not one of the best but still very acceptable. The chicken is very tender and the seasoning is well done. Better coming early in the morning, because of the queue. Better u bring the cash and for the drink you can buy in front of this chicken stall. To get this area you can took the bus or mrt.

Super hyped to come here for holiday and the first time we came, the shopping centre was doing whole day clean up and we had to come back again. And finally had a try of this place. Very good rice and flavourful, just like Anthony Bourdain said and you can just eat it. Chicken also good and tender. However I can't really give 5 stars because I missed the soup which for some reason they don't have it, and it does ruin a bit of the experience.

Best ever chicken rice in Singapore. Generally, I avoid carbs and especially chicken rice. Tian Tian chicken is definitely sacrificing my diet. Chanced upon it at 5pm today and there is no queue. How not to resist? The rice is aromatically infused and the chicken is a sliver of gelatin in-between the skin and flesh, as I remembered it. Pair it with their awesome chilli and black cause.....you'd be in Chicken Rice Heaven. I will weigh at least 1 kg heavier tomorrow.....but it's not often I come by to Maxwell. Thank goodness.

Finally we made it to Tian Tian. I have always wanted to try it without having to wait in a long line. Covid deterred a lot of tourists to Singapore and made the wait shorter. About 3-5 mins on Tuesday lunch time. Food: The chicken was tender and succulent. I can understand why some comments said it is plain, but for me that is what brings out the real taste of fresh chicken and the texture really is one of the best in town. The sources are good and brings out the flavor or the chicken. If you like the chili sauces, def get an extra portion. The rice itself is average level, I had better ones. The portion of veggies is good too. If you like chicken rice def try it before it is crowded by tourists again.

Not much queue and people in food center, finally got chance to eat. Requested for thigh meat, $5 at time of visit. Soft skin, tender juicy meat, smooth to bite. Fragrant rice with slight salty chili sauce provided, no soup. Good overall meal, portion suitable for average eater. Felt thirsty after meal, drink more water.

Standard issue chicken rice, the rice is fragrant and chicken is nice, but it's really meeting the average standard of chicken rice. there were no "wow" reasons for me to tout it as the best chicken rice in Singapore, and I could easily name 3 other places which rival the store's chicken rice. It is a good plate of chicken rice, nonetheless! hence 4 stars. :)

Wanted to buy Maxwell road famous chicken rice. Was a little disappointed with the boss lady. Can't buy 6 packets of rice for half a chicken. Must buy whole chicken then can order more chicken rice. Only allow to buy 5 packet of rice. The rice MUST BE AROMATIC AND DELICIOUS, OTHERWISE, I MAY DROP TO 1 STAR ONLY.

Love tian tian chicken rice! The chicken is succulent and juicy. Chicken is well marinated , the rice complement the chicken well too. Very fragrant and the rice is not too wet. Love the chili sauce too you can request for the dark sauce if they did not serve it to you. 10/10 will recommend 😁😍

Been a Singaporean all my life and wondered what the big deal was with this stall that celebrities and tourists rave about. Gordon and Anthony also gave their thumbs up. So out of curiosity, tried it. The queue was longgggg, so many patrons from all over the world at this humble food centre. The heat, the crowd, the humidity all couldn’t deter the crowd hungry for chicken rice. Got our family the tender steamed chicken breast with rice. Verdict? Bang for your dollar! It was excellent and deserving of it’s crazy popularity.

Comfort food, i must say. The chicken was soft, melt, and fragrant (ginger), add a little chilli and it was bomb ! The rice and braised egg was nice as well I had the rice chicken in medium size, and the portion fit me. Ordered their bean sprout and cuttlefish, but yeah they were okay The line was really long, but it took only 10-15 minutes because they served really fast !

Pretty good chicken rice when there is no queue, but would not eat here if there was the usual long queue. $5 portion gave several large slices of tender chicken; not much skin given, though what was given was good. Rice is flavourful but less oily than I prefer; could be good for more health conscious diners.

I hardly visit this shop unless requested by friends from other countries. Definitely a must-try Singapore food and this stall is a must-go destination if you are not residing in Singapore. The chicken is tender (and tasty) and the rice is fragrant enough to justify its nomination in the Michelin Bib Gourmand list. There will be a queue of at least 15 minutes, depending on the occasion. Price is also reasonable, but only for occasional consumption.

  • 5/5 Musik S. 8 months ago on Google
The juiciness and soft of the chicken is very good. The sauce is super tasty it goes along with the chicken well. Definitely worth for the queue in my opinion. Just make sure to go before lunch cause it gets quite crowded and the queue is quite long.

We wanted to try this place as it was always crowded. I arrived at 1:30pm and there was a line up to the back of the food court. The line moved quick and I waited in line for about 10 mins. Steamed chicken rice (Large): the chicken was tender and the flavor was ok. The soy sauce was a delicious compliment to the chicken. The rice was my favorite part: succulent, flavorful and cooked perfectly. The sambal was delicious too. I wish that I could try the roasted version one as it was sold out. It was 3.5 stars for my liking.

Rice was super flavourful and the chicken was perfectly cooked and extremely juicy and tender. And the prices were so reasonable! Waiting in the long queue here is totally worth it!

06 Jul 2023: Tian Tian is a Michelin rated chicken rice stall and we get to enjoy it at hawker prices! The rice is tasty and fragrant; chicken is soft, juicy and tender...truly awesome. The queue can be crazy but they are pretty fast and don’t be surprise to see customers queuing with their luggage.

$6 for Medium size Hainanese Steamed Chicken Rice. The taste was overall decent. Nothing to shout about. The line wasn’t too long during lunch hour on a Wednesday. Portion was a good size for a petite lady. Wished it was more saucy. Their chili sauce here is on the spicier side. For me it’s hype and a one & done.

Don't be scared off by the long line, it moves pretty quickly because they have a lot of staff. This is by far the best hainanese chicken stall in this hawker center. The lunch set only gives white meat so if you want dark meat and I highly recommend that you get it, get half a chicken or order the drumsticks.

They have good Customer service, just that food needs improvement! They do serve us bread with butter (complimentary). We ordered quite a bit of th...
