Mama's Kent Penang Delight

Restaurant

👍👍 It is located in the building of National University of Singapore, 1st floor. In the same food court area of Eureka taste, but it does not have a big sign or logo. The food was great and tasty! It can get very full during lunch time, so better go a bit earlier. I recommend the braised pork rice. People often mention laksa, Penang, rice,

Kent serves authentic Penang food that fits the Singaporean and Malaysian palate. A Malaysian himself, he prides in serving food close to his roots in Malaysia. My fav is the mama chilli prawn. Shiok ! Chilli is flavourful and in various level of spiciness, flavour and other spices. Good balance. Penang laska is another thats worthy of mention. The delicate balance of an acidic, sweetness, rich bodied soup and fresh ingredients makes my mouth salivate. It’s a pity he is considering a different option for his business at NUH. Do go and support him ASAP before he goes ! I will miss him definitely.

A popular stall in Eureka Taste. I read the reviews , many people praised the asssam laksa . Today finally I got the chance to taste it, I will give 3 out of 5 , not the authentic penang laksa , just sour but plenty of sardine fish given. So far #1 asssam laksa in singapore is the stall at Simpang Bedok FC, #2 is 家乡home cooking

Kent has moved from Shenton to the canteen at Yong loo lin school of medicine. Same excellent standards. Added more dishes. Special items to call and order in advance eg home made kimchi.

Hard to find initially as I thought they are a eatery by itself but is in fact a stall inside a small foodcourt by the name Eureka Taste. Totally enjoyed the Signature Braised Pork Rice, ingredients was generous and well executed, the add-on sunny side up complimented the dish so well, egg yoke was just nice at 50% done and not overly runny which often ended up all flowing down to the rice that would have been wasted in this fully drenched braised sauce rice.

First time here - I had the chilli prawns with rice (added an extra egg) while my friend had the vinegar pig trotter with rice. The dishes were presented nicely and in rather generous portions. My chilli prawns tasted great - nicely prepared and plenty of flavours along with a slightly spicy, tangy sauce (appetising!). And the pricing was alright too - under 10 for mine. Definitely coming back for the other items on the menu.

Delicious Penang assam laksa. Broth's flavour is to the point. Good balance of sweet and sour with a tad of spiciness. Tried their stew pork rice too. Meat is rich with flavor and very fragrant. Highly recommended.

Been in NUS for more than 5 years and this is honestly one of the best food on campus. I love how passionate Chef Kent is about cooking GOOD food. It is just well-made and delicious. It is such a delight to eat his dishes every time.

Kent's Penang assam laksa is almost like being back in Penang. The gravy was so rich and flavourful and he is generous with the Sardine! The Thai steam fish is very fresh and appetising too.

This is really deserved to be called a hidden gem! Not too much choice on the menu, I really attract by their fish so I tried this first. It’s a Thai style steamed fish 🐟, big portion, sour and spicy 🌶️, it’s really tasty! 😋 Which amazing 🤩 me is the vegetable 🥗, 1 dollar added can get this, it’s fresh, flavorful. The rices🍚 is also good! The rice is incredibly fragrant and has a delightful texture! I will definitely come back to try everything on their menu!

$7.50, small portion (and it is indeed small). I feel its not worth for money. only a few scope of noodles..

The chilli prawn was super appetizing and went well with the house sambal. I'm glad I got to try it because the assam laksa sold out that day.

They’re located at the back of building MD6 in a small food court called Eureka Taste. You can access it by walking around the outside of the building. Outstanding Penang food, very authentic. When they were in Tanjong Pagar I ate there once or twice a week. The food is that good. Try the laksa if you’re not sure what to order.

If you like to eat vinegar pig trotter 猪脚醋, you must try this store, so far the best for me. Their Penang Asam laksa also very authentic.

As a Malaysian, I think this is the best Penang asam laksa you can get in Singapore. Also it a lot better than most Penang laksa in Malaysia. Must try really must try.
