Overall I will still recommend this place even though the food wasn’t quite up to my standard for such a great establishment. The signature dish pork knuckle was not as expected, the skin although crispy was kind of hard and quite chewy. The meat was not tough but neither was it tender. So after eating a small plate I found I am tired from it from my chewing and also from the cutting😰 For the pretzel, maybe I had high expectations, it was not as shinny and malty taste as I wished. To be honest I guess I was just harbouring on the best memories on the one I had from a roadside stall in Germany. I was thinking even a chain store of a street standard is so nice, here at the restaurant specialising in German cuisine it must be better right. So I wasn’t fair perhaps! For most people it should be already good. Anyhow the service was excellent and attentive. What I like most is definitely the quietness and space if provided. The atmosphere and deco I love and won’t mind compromising the food quality just to chill and have a great meal with a friend.

Went for a weekday dinner with a friend, nice food & excellent beer 🍺 👌.Lots of dishes especially for those who loved cheese. The baked camembert cheese was very yummy. I loved the salad too!! Overall, food is sumptuous, lots of options for beer too!! we loved soaking ourselves in the cool environment. A really nice place to chill and catch up with your friends after a long day at work. Staffs are friendly & helpful.

Frieda positions itself as a fine dining restaurant specialising in German cuisine. They are situated on the street level of Capitol, which boasts a beautiful street dining concept. In regards to the meal, while some of the dishes were great like the soup and mashed potatoes, I felt that the pretzel dumplings were terrible due to its excessive saltiness. Overall, I would still recommend Frieda for it’s charming environment. Additional notes: I personally thought that the song choices (Hip hop and pop) were not consistent with the brand positioning. Perhaps jazz standards would be a better option?

This spacious restaurant is a great place to chill. Food tasted homely and beers were cheap during Happy Hours (4-8pm). Staff were friendly too.

We are having our dinner and were served by Mr. Ruben & Mr. Sam. We are so impressed with the service giving us. Both are so attentive and patient and explain the food & difference of the beer. They were so interactive, professional and made us feel so important at all times. I am personally impressed that Frieda has hired such excellent service staff who have service at their heart. They are a value to the organization. We will definitely come to visit again!

A nice place to chill out with friends. Been here a few times. Ordered the signature Frieda beer to go along with the food. The mixed bread set was good. Soft and warm. If you like sweet cheese spread, Obadzda cheese spread will be good for you. The German Weisswurst was nice but not the Signature Pork knuckle. The taste was very different from the taste I tried 2 years ago. The skin was very hard and the meat very chewy. Hope the management able to bring back the old German flavour for the Pork knuckle .

Got the Christmas festive dinner 3 course meal. My partner and I ordered both the pan seared sea bass and the venison with noodles, really tasty! Not a huge fan of sauerkraut but the meal was filling nonetheless. Service was really warm and friendly! CK the waiter is nice to check in on everything to ensure a pleasant meal. Kudos to the rest of the staff working on Christmas too. Will come back for the main menu in the future. Ps, the location is really unique, located just at the capitol theatre.

One of the best pork knuckles I've tasted. Thumbs up for the lovely service crew who's really attentive to details. Couldn't take the pics fast enough - kids polished off sausages, rosti, sauerkraut and pretzels before I could snap some decent pics of the food. Will definitely be back!

Not a big meat eater but my family loves this spot for the sausages and pork knuckle! I really like the brezen and potato and leek soup 🍲 hehe. We come here quite often but sadly it's so empty! Please give this place a chance, it has lovely atmosphere and delicious German food 😋

Attracted by the good reviews on the pork knuckle, so went ahead to try it but it was too much for 2 persons. Will be better to share the knuckle among 3-4 people. It was very crunchy but part of the meat can be a bit tough. Did not wait for 30minutes as there were few customers only. Also ordered cod fish in their main course which was good too!

I ordered the famous German pork knuckle, it is very delicious, skin is crispy, and the meat is tender. Besides food, the rest is not up to standard. Service is bad, u will sit there for long time and no one besides u , the only 2 waitresses around is busy in the kitchen across the restaurant, so this is more like management issues rather than the attitude of the staff. They are totally not trained, 2 of us order 1 dish of pork knuckle, they should approach you and give you the side plate automatically. Or at least ask u any others thing you like to order ? If you need a quiet place for you to talk, this should be the best place as no one will disturb you.

Named after the daughter of Kempinski founder, Berthold, this beer garden serves international beers 🍺 from $13.00++ per pint. Located at Capitol Arcade taking over from what used to be TAP, it has a nice environment within the Capitol Arcade. Recommended 👍🏼

Very quiet on a weekday late afternoon, making it a great place for one to catch up w friends. Very good service as well, and the tables and chairs are very comfortable. Ordered a Camembert cheese spread w pretzel. Absolutely love the pretzel but the cheese spread was weird, hence the 4 star. Pork knuckle was huge! Skin was crispy but jelak easily. Meat is primarily tender but must be eaten with sauce for taste. Lava cake is nice though. Not the best German around for sure.

If you prefer something different I would suggest Frieda. Lager is good, veal is fine and the staff is friendly. Inside a mall but not so much crowded. Since it is Chinese New Year time, celebrations are held. Happy hour discounts on some drinks.

Secluded at the corner of The Capitol, atmosphere is calm and cozy. We had schnitzel and salad. The veal was tender and cranberry sauce surprisingly went along well. Staffs were friendly and patient. Price is a little at the high side, but it still offers a great value and ambience for a cozy and romantic occasion.

Absolutely delicious pork knuckle and veal escalope! The knuckle skin is crispy and meat juicy! Meal made sweeter by the friendly service!

We visited because of the good reviews, but was left disappointed. The food tasted just alright, nothing special and serving size was on the smaller side. For one dish we had 4 fish fingers served to us - and that was a main. Place was also quite empty when we were there

Indoor garden German Restaurant. We went there for their daily set lunch, 3 course menu for $35++. The food was ok.i like the indoor side walk or garden ambience, no matter rain or shine, you will stay cool.

Nice German restaurant hidden in the Capitol. The food was decent, and the waiter was very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, the Veal Escalope (Schnitzel) was not available, but the Cheese Spätzle were a good substitute. Nice and quiet atmosphere which made for a relaxing lunch.

Wanted to have beer in the morning and this is an AMAZING place to chill, you can enjoy the air-con and day light at the same time . The food is really good, salad was normal, all the food are nicely presented and very Instagram worthy and enjoyable.

Had 2 in-house beer, Sausage Platter for two, sauerkraut(sides), baked camenbert(starter), enjoyed food, reasonably priced. Like the texture of the bread too😋

Nice food, amazing desserts, but more importantly, an extension of Kempinski hotel dining concepts. Mr. Sam, our mitre D' was outstanding. You know you have service when the staff serve the brand with pride.

Been here several times, small and larger group, the food is good, a lot of German specialities, their homemade draft beer very good too. And all at the very reasonable price ($25 pork knuckle, $10 pint of beer during their happy hour until 8pm!). Friendly staff and nicely decorated environment (inside the capitol actually)

Frieda at Capitol faces stiff competition from a similar German restaurant across the road. The one thing that probably sets it apart is the location - you get a quiet and peaceful meal away from the crowds. I like the pretzel bread as it’s chewy and soft. As for the pork knuckle, it was well executed, tender and not hard or dry with a crispy skin. The salmon cheese (can’t find it on the menu now) was like eating mac & cheese. All in all lovely dishes in a pleasant setting.

Historic, romantic, and a little hectic, situated at the Arcade@Capitol, Frieda is an authentic German restaurant. The Friday evening dinner rush was crowded with fashionably dressed patrons. Get a reservation. We had Burpple’s beer and sausage set which came with 4 sausages, loin, pretzel dumplings, mashed potato, fried sauerkraut, two slices of rye bread and two half pints of great beer at $64.

Came for lunch set since I was staying at kempsinki for a night. Loved their cutlery and interior. The soup was super good!! The mains were alright, good but nothing to shout about. Service was attentive.

I’m usually a bit fussy about service and value but I must highly recommend this restaurant. The staff was unusually friendly and helpful. Very patient and amazingly kind with us. This is a rarity in Singapore. I would call it a gem based on my experience. In addition to the great service, the food was really fantastic. I will be coming here again for sure!

Casual dining located at Capitol Singapore, offering German dishes & beers. It's Pork Knuckle is crackling delicious and it's desserts are pretty & not too sweet.

Atmosphere was absolutely stunning. Food was slightly above average? It didn’t stand out as much to me. Service however was good and staff were attentive and able to make compromises to orders. Personally felt that the portion could have been more.

Lovely place, fantastic service, absolutely delicious food. Tried their November Wurstfest platter and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were lovely and attentive. Pork knuckle is the crispiest and most fragrant pork knuckle I've ever eaten, rounded off with a perfectly finished dessert. Excellent!

Lovely atmosphere and great service. Standout dish: the honey roasted pork belly salad - The pork was crispy and perfectly seasoned. Overall really refreshing and I loved how they sliced the pork in bacon-like strips instead of the usual ‘cubes’. The sausage was nice, but nothing too special taste wise (esp since we were considering sth else and this was recommended by the guy instead). The buttery smooth mashed potatoes on the side def stole some of the show though. It was delicious! Also was expecting the spätzle to come with some kind of sauce but that’s probably on me lol. Minus one star because I wasn’t too impressed with the taste of the beers - both the Marzen beer and the Dunkel. Maybe I’ll try the cocktails next time they do look interesting.

We were in a hurry to catch a show and wanted a quick meal and even though they were super busy, the service staff were pleasant, polite and fast. Didn’t order any significant mains this time. Just the sausage and salad which were already pretty nice. Will be back to try the pork knuckle. Nice place.

First time here for German food and celebrated anni with my other half. Food is great and esp their beef soup and pork knuckles. Located in the arcade of Capitol. Be prepared for fork out over $100-200 for four pax meal.

We had a good time at Frieda. Its cozy ambiance, high ceiling and cooling temperature which reminded us of Europe's spring time. Service staff was attentive and provided good service despite them being busy serving and taking orders. We enjoyed the mixed breadbasket, cold cut with cheese, fried chicken wing, grilled wagyu beef, and seasonal sausages. The restaurant caters to patrons' different needs by offering bar snacks, meals to share, main courses, selections of homemade breads and a wide range of drinks -gin, beer, wine, whisky, rum and cocktail. A recommended place to have a drink and dine with family and friends 🥂 🍻

At the end of the arcade area of Capitol Kempinski hotel, the German restaurant is split into two areas across each other. At one end, the dining area with warm vintage European vibes with homely atmosphere. The other, Daybar and Freida Garden, slightly underwhelming beer garden that is air-conditioned. Started with the rye bread and butter, which unlike most fine-dining places that serve white bread. These can be quite filling but is good with the saliter meats/sauce later. We had the sausage platter and oven roasted pork knuckle to share across the table. The sausage platter was average at best. Pork knuckle on the other hand, stole the show easily. Good crisp on the skin, with tender meat that is not too greasy. The pretzel dumplings that came together with both dishes were also worth the mention. Expected a little more with the beer flight if I was honest. Service can definitely be improved, perhaps we caught them on an understaffed day.

Good food and ambience even on a busy Friday night. Decent beers that are wallet friendly. Almost wanted to order 1 metre sausage board for Nov special (saw other tables ordering). But we just went with ala carte items - they were yummy especially the pretzels! Definitely going to be back for other yummy options.

Lovely Mother’s Day Dinner @Frieda 💖!!! Excellent food - Pork knuckle, Sausage and Meat Loaf platter, Baked Camembert, Spätzle, Potato & Leek Soup, Sourdough bread, Apple Fritters and Frieda Lager!! Delectable and mouth watering German food 😋. Generous portions, nice ambience, great service 👍🏻!

Nice place to have a good dinner, great atmosphere with live band playing outside. Mustard and sausage were a bit too salty. Spatzle had some wok hei taste which I don't think is the correct texture/taste. I might come back again but I won't get the sausages.

If you are looking for a place to wine, dine and chill, then this is it. It is a restaurant within the Capitol Kempinski Hotel specialising in German dishes with Austrian influences. There is a “alfresco” dining area which is my favourite as it feels like sitting in a garden, except that it is fully air-conditioned. The pork knuckle is a favourite, as well as many of the dishes. It is a place to indulge for good food, good wine, and good company.

Got the potato leek soup and Platter Of Grilled Sausages For Two, Served With Sauerkraut, Mashed Potato, Prerzel Dumplings And Dijon Mustard to share. Delicious draft beer and gin and tonic. Service was a little slow but we weren’t in a rush and it was a lovely venue to spend a lazy weekend lunch.

2nd time here but the experience was not as good as the first, the knuckle is crispy on the outside but the inside is a tad dry and not as flavorful compared to the one I had the first time. Service wise, the server placed the sausage platter at the edge of the table instead of helping us to clear the clutter and place in the middle of the table for sharing, nearing the end of dinner, servers seems to rush us to finish our drinks so they can close by 10pm. Hopefully they improve the standards for future visit.

Oktoberfest menu, $55++ with a Pint of beer. More than one person can finish. All foods were well cooked and tasty. Camembert with cranberry is classic. Pork knuckle skin is so crispy.nurnberg sausage very fragrant, flavourful. Vanilla ice cream was creamy and fragrant, authentic vanilla flavour
