Overall not recommendable if you’re expectation is high. Food wise is normal, air-con too cold and strong causes the food easily turn cold. Not worth the price paying. Not attractive to go back for a 2nd time. Service wise also soso only, not attentive to customer unless is big group. Manager and crew only interested in big group of people. Couple best not to dine in.

My partner and I had been wanting to visit this place for some time after visiting Fat Cow so we can make a comparison. If you’re a Wagyu lover, be sure to try the premium Wagyu menu at $228 (see our photos and menu photo to see what’s in the set). Overall, the dishes were perfectly done and the quality of the beef was excellent. We had a really great time and experience at the gyu bar. Definitely worth a try if u like Japanese wagyu. Corkage charge for bringing your own sake there is $50 FYI

Had the $138++ omakase menu here for lunch. Generally speaking, we didn't feel it was worth the cost at all. The starters were lacklustre and there was nothing special about the yakiniku. The chawanmushi was good though. Would not recommend getting this.

A good Japanese beef restaurant. Yakiniku Don was good. Beef slices were well-cooked, tebder, flavourful, and not oily. Onsen egg was executed perfectly. Yukke could have less seasoning to allow the taste of raw beef to shine. Beef soup was tasty, and a nice addition to a good meal on a cold rainy day.

Had my birthday dinner here. 10/10 experience. Food was excellent and service was superb. Assistant manager Andrew was very knowledgeable about the courses served and made us feel very welcome. The ingredients are often used creatively here to great effect. Loved the variety of cuts of beef, all were delicious. Would definitely come again.

price is reasonable for the food we’re getting. however, it doesn’t have the “wow” factor that i was expecting. there are many other better options for omakase out there; with top quality ingredients.

Visited the restaurant on a Friday evening at their first seating which was at 6pm. I made a reservation for this place as my partner saw the video Ghib Ojisan had posted and we decided to dine here for our anniversary. The restaurant was a tad smaller than what I expected but the decor was classy and modern. We had the Matsu Omakase ($138). I requested for counter seats as with my previous experience with omakase, the chef would be the one serving the food. However it was not the case here, it seemed like the chef would prepare it and the manager or server would bring it out. Though they did explain the course to us, I would have preferred a more interactive experience between the diners and the chef for the omakase set. That is not to say the staff were not professional and unaware of what they were serving. Service was prompt, and friendly. The wagyu tartare was delicious, the beef was well seasoned and the uni was not fishy at all. Buttery and soft texture really melded the flavors together. The salad was tangy and whet our appetite for what was to follow. The cold appetizer consisted of lobster salad and a cold salad that I can't seem to recall was in it. The chawamushi stole my heart, the fragrance of the truffle and the softness of the egg custard was a perfect combination. The beef yakiniku wheezed by as we each ate 5 slices of beef cooked to our preferred doneness. Alongside it came salt, scallion/leek oil, soy sauce, wasabi and garlic chips. Each cut was recommended to go with each of the condiments provided. The perfectly marbled meat was so tender that it took no effort to chew. We saw the video from Ghib Ojisan and quoted them to get the free premium wagyu sushi. The next bowl served to us came with a raw yolk and shaved truffles. The silky yolk coated the beef slices and the smell of the truffles proved to be a star combo. Last course before dessert was their signature udon. Their udon had a great chewy texture, the soup was light and refreshing. To end of the meal, we were served vanilla ice cream and mochi. As they noted our anniversary, we received complimentary green tea ice cream. Nothing to shout about, other than the cute mochi that they made into a small orange. Perhaps I am a bigger eater, I felt like I was still a bit hungry at the end of the meal. A family of 3 who sat near us also came to realized they were hungry at the end of their omakase and ordered more. For the price point, the meal and service was great. A couple next to us has the yakiniku, might come back for that instead.

Visited this place on a weekday for wagyu omakase during lunch time. The ingredients they used for snow crab salad, lobster salad and giant mentaiko prawn could have been fresher. Honestly for the giant prawn all I could taste was the saltiness of mentaiko haha. Fortunately the wagyu was good. Service was not bad as the whole house only had 3 groups of guests. Interactive session with the chef during the Omakase. I’ve had wagyu omakase at another great Japanese restaurant before (price was pretty similar) and if I compare apple to apple, Gyu Bar has lots of room for improvement. It could be the gov’s dine in restrictions that was hindering them from getting the freshest ingredients as it also means low shelf life. Maybe I’ll come back for their wagyu yakiniku instead of omakase.

Tried the restaurant week dinner menu, and topped up $38 for the premium beef, but nothing in this menu impressed us, and we regret topping up, the beef was so oily not the juicy melt in your mouth type, we didn’t even want another mouth of it! Service wasn’t good, did not even refill water when is empty, which is basic service for this price range. We prefer Sen of Japan A5 Wagyu Don and Sushi Sei A4 Mizayaki steak, we are beef lovers, but this place is not for us.

My second visit here. The choices of cut of beef never disappoint and they are cooked to perfection in the kitchen before they are served to you. Price is very reasonable for the quality. Pork and prawn are equally awesome.

They serve exquisite dishes made from top quality ingredients. Famous Matsusaka Wagyu, Giant Red Prawn from Spain and top quality Matsutake mushroom, to name a few. Very attentive staff and nice cosy layout.

We tried their Restaurant Week’s menu which is $68++ per pax (quite worth it!). Fresh and quality ingredients. my absolute favourite is the Beef Sukiyaki!! and the uni beef cone. Nice ambience, hidden spot from the main bustling orchard road area.

We had a course menu during Singapore restaurant weeks. The grilled & sukiyaki beef were outstanding and tender, while other types of dishes like raw roasted beef, curry rice and desserts were okay. You can also opt for onsen egg if you don’t eat fully raw egg dip as well.

Have been to many places serving good beef, Gyu Bar ‘s beef certainly up till standard, the price is on the super high side, not really worth the value. Their service is not too bad, ambience is acceptable.

Very good quality Japanese wagyu, at prices that are very affordable given its quality. This restaurant is by the same owners of Sushi Kimura, which is also well known for their insistence on top quality ingredients and preparation. I've already been back many times.

Good quality of beef served. The wagyu platter gives a good variety of beef cuts for tasting. You can request the chef to grill the meat if you do not want to bbq it youself. Pleasantly surprised that the beef in the Wagyu Uni don is pretty good too. Price is on the higher side. There are limited seating here. Tables are spread quite apart. Do make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

A platter of high quality beef, well-priced with an off-town, serene ambience. The chef focuses on presentation very much, spending a good amount of time to showcase their pride of beef. However, the food quality keeps up to standard as form and factor is top-notched. Look to spend about $150-200 each without pairing alcohol.

Had the Resturant week $58 lunch. Food was good but it wasn’t filling so we added a small add on order of grill beef. The taste of the cone in the uni beef tartare cone dish covered some of the taste of the fresh ingredients. Might be better to serve it on a spoon and remove the cone. My favourite was the truffle chawanmushi.

Did our wedding anniversary Omakase dinner here. Service was great and chef was friendly. Food was fresh with some fusion. the meat cut is definitely worth its value! Not an everyday dining place for sure but for special occasion, worth a try.

I had the Ume omakase for dinner here and I was not disappointed. It was a refreshing omakase with majority beef dishes done in various ways, all delicious in their own ways. Feel full towards dessert, but still craving more of their exotic wagyu beefs. Definitely recommended.

Fantastic experience trying the Restaurant Week menu here! Went in for 1 portion of the upgrade for their premium beef and there were no regrets - we contemplated going for a second portion but we were full by then! A special add-on came towards the end when the chef offered to fry up the mini crabs from the crab tank we have been observing from our counter seats all night. Shout-out to the warm and hospitable service by the crew at the restaurant and special mention to Ah Hao and Alvin for being extremely engaging and ever ready to share whenever we had any food-related queries!

I love everything they served in the Restaurant Week dinner menu! Must add on the Premium meat set at $38. Ohhh that Hida sirloin, so tender it’s like I’m sinking my teeth into butter. It’s such a wonderful experience! I will be back!

Fantastic place for wagyu bbq. Highly recommended!! Will come back. Must try truffle chawanmushi, truffle are served whole pieces and chawanmushi is silky smooth. Gyu meats are satisfying with good quality. Garlic fried rice very fragrant. Only compliments on everything we ordered. Thanks very much for free birthday cake!! 🙏🏻👍🏻🥳

Best yakiniku omakase I’ve had so far in my life! Was out on a date night and thought this place was just another yakiniku place. BUT WOW, everything was beyond my expectation and then some. Would definitely go back again.

Came to gyu bar for restaurant week and it is by far the best restaurant week experience I have had in years. The service from the bar is exceptional. Food is extremely delicious too! We just had to order 2 sets of premium wagyu beef. Thank you to chef ah hao and service crew :)

Had a splendid dinner at the place. Waiter and chef are polite and diligent with explanations despite there being quite a number of other customers. Highly recommend the bar seats for nicer interaction. Loved the beef and beer, would surely be looking forward to the next time we go there!

Got the premium wagyu omakase course for my partner's birthday and the premium wagyu sushi bento to try in Sept 2022. Tbh the omakase was subpar - was expecting so much more because of the good reviews and the recommendation from Ghib Ojisan. The wagyu sushi bento was also soso - the wagyu was too chewy and tough on rice for a supposedly premium beef - couldn't finish it. Would say that only the shabu, curry and chateaubriand were the better ones in the 9 or 10-course premium omakase. The atmosphere was also soso, not as fine dining-esque as you would expect considering the pricing of the omakase course. Think you can find better premium wagyu omakase elsewhere for the price, if that's what you are considering.

Food is good, and 'Restaurant Week' portions were just right. Meat dishes were good too, and meat was fresh. Other appetiser items were also interesting, and very palatable. Will likely return to try other items.

1st time there. Went there with an old time friend aka ex-colleague. We had 1 normal and 1 Premium Omakase. Thank you, Michael, for your hospitality. Pardon me....for not able to remember the name of each dish 😬 Will return for the Shabu Shabu, which must be pre-ordered.

I was rather disappointed in the food, after reading so many decent reviews of the place. We opted for ala carte, and also opted for the chefs to grill our meats for us (why do it myself when there are trained professionals who can do it better). Unfortunately, all our dishes were served to us cold-warm. It wasn't even luke warm. I didn't think it was worth the price tag. I'm much happy at AO Chan for the price and quality.

Japanese wagyu is the best! And omakase is a good choice that you can taste a bit of everything. Good price for premium quality and excellent customer service. Chef grilled the doneness to perfection. We ordered a $138 and a $228.

Incorporates flavours well-loved by Singaporeans, The Gyu Bar, celebrates the nation’s birthday with a limited-edition Spicy Tomato Sukiyaki (from $208++), available for both dine-in and takeaway for a limited time from 8 to 31 August 2022. Perfect for two persons, you may choose from a selection of: ▪️250g Hida Wagyu Sirloin ($308++ for dine-in; $238+ for takeaway) ▪️250g Miyazaki Wagyu Sirloin ($268++ for dine-in; $198+ for takeaway) ▪️250g Olive Wagyu Sirloin ($368++ for dine-in; $298+ for takeaway) ▪️250g Assorted Platter of Hida, Miyazaki, and Olive Wagyu Sirloin ($328++ for dine- in; $268+ for takeaway) ▪️300g Hokkaido Pork ($208++ for dine-in; $138+ for takeaway) For those who enjoy a variety of quality wagyu, highly recommended to go for the Assorted Platter of Hida, Miyazaki, and Olive Wagyu Sirloin. Melt-in-your-mouth texture, these wagyu beef is very juicy with rich and umami flavour. My personal favourite is the Olive Wagyu which I read that it is one of the rarest steaks in the world. Wow! Every sukiyaki set is accompanied by assorted vegetables and tofu, konnyaku noodles, two bowls of Hokkaido rice, and raw Okinawa egg as a dip. A platter of seasonal starters including the crowd’s favourite uni yukke cone, will be presented for dine-in guest. The Gyu Bar’s house-made warishita is imbued with fresh tanginess and natural sweetness from peeled tomatoes. For those who enjoy spicy soups like me, tantalise the taste buds with optional add-ons of chilli padi and deep-fried garlic chips that are served on the side. Location: The Gyu Bar, 30 Stevens Road, #01-08, Singapore 257840 (near the entrance of Mercure Hotel)
