The food was not bad but the service was subpar. My friend made a reservation through Google and received an email confirmation of the reservation. Arrived to find that no reservation was placed. The lady manager commented that “see this is what happens when you book through Google.” Turns out my friend’s reservation was dated 26 March on the restaurant system but the email confirmation stated 19 March. The manager then told my friend that my friend had made the wrong reservation despite the fact that it was clearly a technical error. I hope the restaurant sees that their online reservation system is sorted out, for the lady manager made no effort to tell us that this matter will be addressed. She later sat us outside and immediately attended to the table of regulars beside us leaving us with no water, the menu, or even switching the fan on despite the heat. She also did not ask anybody to attend to us. We had to go back in to request for these things from the other staff. After we placed an order, the manager came back 2 minutes later only to ask if we needed a menu. She then proceeded to attend to the new table of regulars. It was clear her attention was not on us at all. Needless to say, we spent the initial part of dinner being very dissatisfied with how the manager had treated us. That being said, the part timer, a young girl, who served us was polite and helpful throughout so we were really grateful for her. We had the burrata bread, which was good. The uni pasta was also very tasty. The gnocchi, on the other hand, had a soft texture and was not very chewy. Overall, I’d rate the food 4/5 but service 2/5, especially for the price we paid. I would have rated the service 1/5 but I give credit to the other staff for their kind assistance. Unfortunately the manager’s attitude really affected our mood and our meal.

Place was super crowded and super noisy for lunch. Food is superb. Ordered the SGD 38 set lunch but after adding the extras, bill came up to SGD 180 for 2 for lunch. For this price, I would prefer somewhere quieter and with better attention from service staff.

Was here for a birthday celebration. Very attentive and helpful service with a dose of humour. Truffle burrata on focaccia was perfectly executed. Other highlights including lemon butter pasta. Pasta was al-Dante and freshly made.

Thank you Solo Ristorante for turning a disastrous start to the evening into an unexpectedly pleasant night out! Backstory - We had booked another restaurant for our wedding anniversary dinner. They were mysteriously shut when we showed up. As we were scrambling around in the rain to find an alternative option, we walked into Solo Ristorante and managed to get seats. The food was great and service was even better - they gave us pistachio gelato on the house when they heard about what happened. Thank you for helping us celebrate our wedding anniversary!

Stress free dining environment with attentive staffs constantly at your service. Favourite of the day definitely the buratta focaccia with truffle and Parma ham. Parma ham was so good we gotten extra servings.

Came here with friends on a Saturday night for dinner because this restaurant was one of Kris+ partners, and it was one of the rare places that still had reservations a night before AND on a weekend night. Reservation via Google was super quick and efficient. The place is relatively easy to find, located along Amoy Street together with other restaurants. The staff was super attentive and gracious in attending to our every needs. I was the first to arrive in my friend group and they led me to my table, provided water and asked for my drink/starter preferences while waiting. Although it was a bit stressful because the staff was TOO nice and communicative, I appreciated this trait because it showed their professionalism, so this is not something to complain about. When the others arrived, they also provided free Italian bread (which you must absolutely dip into olive oil). We then ordered 3 mains (different pasta types) and they also recommended a starter (zucchinis) and all were absolutely delicious. It was a bit disappointing that they did not offer an upsized option (to add more pasta) because from my experience, mains at posh places like these were not that big of a portion. Other than this small point, the service and food was really nice. Apparently, each table was celebrating their own specific event (did we miss the memo or something??), and one of them was for a birthday celebration, so the staff brought out a dessert and encouraged everyone around to join in the singing and celebration which was nice and homely! All in all, the place wasn't too crowded on a weekend night which was honestly surprising, but the best way is to still make reservations first. I would recommend dropping by if you are willing to pay a bit more for nice pasta (but not a big portion) and wine/alcohol.

Great Italian food with attentive service! :) Mr Pedro service is superb! He recommended us great starters and mains to have but also give us space to choose what we wanted. He also recommended us wine based on the food courses we had to pair with it. I will definitely come again!

We chose this restaurant to celebrate my two friends' birthdays. I had previously visited and loved the experience. However, this time was different. I called weeks in advance to ask if the chef still offered any vegan options. The receptionist was kind and said they could prepare vegan dishes, so I made a reservation. The front desk staff greeted us warmly, and the older male waiter seated us. I informed him that we would be having vegan food, and he responded with a strange attitude, asking what he could do for us. I explained our vegan preference, but he questioned the term and suggested we were lacto-ovo vegetarians. Despite clarifying our 100% plant-based diet, he continued with inaccurate statements. It was clear he lacked knowledge and his attitude negatively impacted our experience. Fortunately, the younger male waiter took over, providing kind and knowledgeable service. The older waiter's attitude and condescending remarks were unwelcome and marred our celebration. Staff should be properly educated on dietary preferences to avoid such unpleasant encounters. The food we received the previous time was superb—creative and tasty. However, the dishes we got this time were good, but the mains were underwhelming. Starters and dessert were great, though.

The service can be improved. Seems to be short on staff as it takes quite a while to get their attention. Bread is served to the table without olive oil and balsamic vinegar until requested. Some dishes are presented to the table with an explanation, some without. The staff also forgot one of our order until we reminded him which could be easily avoided if he took time to write down the orders. Food is delicious but some food lacked seasoning which in my opinion is not too big of a deal because everyone's tolerance of salt is slightly different.

Attended farewell dinner for boss. Super good services specially for waiter named Joe. Attentive and helpful. Food is awesome as well. Pillow was placed at my back seat and food was well explained with ingredients and served separately for fully cook meat especially when I’m very cautious during pregnancy. Appreciate that. Definitely worth 5 star service.

Sometimes in life you need a restaurant that does what it does reliably well. Solo is the place for that for Italian cuisine - it’s interesting enough without being pretentious and tasty across the board. Service is intentional and friendly, and I can definitely see myself coming back! Restaurant week menu is a good hack too.

Second time back here after quite some time and it’s still just as good. The uni pasta (tagliolini), polpo (octopus) and desserts especially the cioccolato & pepe were the highlights. Update on 12 Apr 2023 Third time here and tried some different items. Polpo is a must order and still just as tender and flavourful. Antipasto All’ Italiana had really nice ham (personally preferred the unwaxed ham) and the mushrooms has a really nice crunchiness to them. Spaghetti Alla Chitarra was alright. Would have liked more sweetness to it. Definitely would go for the uni pasta next time. Wagyu (sanchoku wagyu) which is an Australian Japanese cattle (I think) was one of the best beef we’ve had. The perfect marbling gave a very nice melt-in-mouthfeel with each chew without being too oily or rich. The accompanying sauce was great too.

Our family was at Solo yesterday night to celebrate our daughter's birthday. This restaurant has been recommended several times by friends and acquaintances as being one that serves excellent food at decent prices. When we were there, these seats were completely filled, we were glad we had made reservations. Freddy the manager was attentive and friendly. Chef also came out several times to check on us and get feedback on food. Some of us opted for the set menu whilst the rest took the omakase. I must say that we were all very satisfied with the amazing quality of the food served (winter truffles, uni, hamachi, slow-cooked kurobuta tomahawk, and the top-notch service provided. The birthday girl got a tray of sweet desserts. Will definitely be finding reasons to come back again!

Got bar seats, which was fantastic if you like to watch the kitchen action. Both the tortelli and guitar pasta were phenomenal. Portion sizes were small, but it's expected at places like this. We also tried a buffalo mozzarella toast, which was decent but not worth $10 for a single piece. Highly recommend the restaurant though! Can't wait to go back

Fantastic experience at Solo last night. Huge thumbs up to Chef Simone for a great job that he's doing! Go for the Omakase set! Just about every dish is super delicious! Best Italian cuisine that I've so far tasted. Our friendly waiter did a great job too as none of his recommendations went wrong and he's totally knowledgeable to tell us what's in the dishes. Thank you, Solo team, for making the dinner experience for me and my friend so memorable. Keep up the good job!

The service is superb . I always find it hard to eat at any Italian restaurant because I can’t handle the taste of any dairy products. In here , I absolutely LOVE my dishes, they were very flexible and made me a dairy free dish. the clams, calamari and beef are soooo tender and delicious !

Every visit back here has always been sensational! Chef Simone’s creations always surpass my expectations again and again whenever I’m back! 🌟🌟🌟 Alla parmigiana, Grilled octopus, Oven baked calamari, Focaccia w Burrata & Parma ham... gosh they were mind blowing! Today we added one of their “specials” for the week onto our list, Carabineros Prawn Tagliatelle. Oh… that was truly heavenly 🌟🌟🌟 and I’m so glad we got to try these famous “Crown Jewels” of the shrimp world… we each had an entire prawn to ourselves 🍤🥰 (Truly the best prawn I’ve ever had - from head to tail) And their desserts are all “rave worthy”! Thank you Chef Simone for all your amazing dishes! It’s always a great experience whenever I’m there!!!

4.8 stars!!! Imagine my surprise when I first step into Solo Ristorante to find that it is very crowded already on a Monday afternoon. And fifteen minutes later, it's full house. I know the reason why after a dining experience here, where I enjoy awesome food prepared in the open kitchen–one can see the head chef and his team hard at work here–and great service plus some Italian music. And the set lunch here is pretty kind to the wallet 😉 Gamberi E Radicchio is such a beautiful dish in both taste and looks. The succulent, plump, creamy prawns are packed with the lovely briny sweetness, accentuated by the light spiciness of the seasoning, zest of the tomatoes and hint of bitterness of the onion. This is good that I bite off the base of the prawns' heads to slurp up the super creamy and briny gland in there. This is one of tastiest parts in fresh prawns. Fluffy bread with olive oil and sweet balsamic vinegar. Will be great if served warmer. Tagliatelle with Marinara Squid, Oregano and Smoked Garlic Cream tastes so unique yet familiar at the same time, just like the restaurant's slogan. I love this paste dish so much because of the myriad of harmonised flavours, with a bit of spiciness for the kick. The squid rolls, which hold lots of sauce in their cores, is amazingly tender. And I like the flatter shape of tagliatelle to induce the feel of smoother texture when biting into it. Zuppa D'astice is Lobster Bisque with orange and star anise. Very rich in taste and full of the essence of lobster, I like it very much. Limone E Meringa has the exact right balance of sourness and sweetness. The sweetness of custard and vanilla meringue is complemented by the zest of strawberry coulis and lemon. What makes this dessert special is the consistency of the lemon curd, which is more like ice-cream than custard. I love this uniqueness, and it gives more texture to the dessert. Also juxtaposes well with the slightly stickiness of the meringue. A sweet, nice dessert to end the meal with. The interior of the restaurant is a cross between lovely, quaint, intimate dining space and chic, cool bar. At the same time, there is a certain coziness hanging in the air. Great to feel all comfortable and just enjoy the good food. Sitting at the bar counter entitles one to an unbridled view of the kitchen, where all the heat of the action is. Surprisingly, while seated here, one can feel the passion of the chefs at work and have the hot piping food served straightaway from kitchen by the chefs, but will not feel heat from the stoves, ovens and grills. So one will still look and smell all good after a meal here beside the kitchen. The service here is very friendly and responsive. A more senior Indian staff is especially thoughtful, advising me on the portions of the food since this is a huge concern for solo diners like me. I totally love the food here and look forward to come back again. Thoughts: Super Flavourful Dishes and Energetic Kitchen + Service Crew

Fantastic experience with great food. The chef and the service was amazing! I asked them to serve me and my friend a 4 course meal without anything in tomato base. Love this joint. Genuinely not pretensions with great Italian taste. It serves superb dishes using good ingredients. It does not try to dress it up as if it is some art form. But a taste of its pasta tells you the culinary skills that go into it. Cannot wait to go back to this place.

Loved the lunch we've had. The wines by the glass are really really good! The pastas were delicious, and the desserts (especially the tiramisu) is not to be missed. Only small possible improvement would be that the bread given at the start is warm. Still, Will be back.

A very unique Italian fusion restaurant, all dishes are presented impeccably. From the smell to the look and of course the taste, it was a really enjoyable meal. I also love the Open kitchen concept. I know there are so many great choices on Amoy street, but Solo is definitely one of them that needs to be high-lightened.
