Hutong (Clarke Quay)

Restaurant Chinese restaurant

😠 I came here as I saw the restaurant is high rated. I suspend some of the high rate comments are fake. The food are cold... And the meat doesn’t have enough seasoning (a bit tasteless). The food is not that bad but it just average. drinks is expensive. The service and ambience is good tho. People often mention good, skewers, meat, Singapore,

So disappointed by this place :( 1. Staff weren't friendly. There was no line and it took them a while to give us the menu 2. We asked for water and they said they don't serve it. We saw a carafe of water on the bar counter and they said it's for their staff only. How hard is it to serve a glass of water, especially since tap is fine here? 3. We ordered different skewers and all of them were dry and too salty without enough flavor. The hot and spicy sour noodles tasted like it came from an instant noodle package. Didn't have the right taste. 4. Food was so overpriced for what it was. We paid like 75$ for some skewers, a pint of beer and a small bowl of noodles. 5. Many of the 5 star reviews on google are fake (?) I noticed after while scrolling through that all the accounts that gave 5 stars had only given 1 review ever on their accounts. Those reviews were also generic and talked about foods that aren't even on their menu. 6. When paying my husband tried to let them know that I'd be nice to serve water to their customers. They were hesitant on accepting feedback. 7. They played kpop and it did not fit with the vibe at all... So disappointed that I wasted a meal in Singapore here. If they were nicer and willing to accept feedback I wouldn't be this harsh.

Decided to patronise this place on a Sunday evening after reading all the reviews and feedback on this place. Prices are reasonable for the serving - even the most expensive ie the crawfish is priced really reasonably given that a huge amount of baijiu (Moutai!!) is used as part of the dish preparation (server will pour in front of you). However I think the taste is lacking though. Perhaps I’m used to the stronger taste for such meal or I expect stronger flavour, but it ain’t enough to pull me back again. Unfortunately ...

Crawfish was tasty, especially with the flambé service. Skewers we’re good, but nothing impressed me too much. The meat skewers are definitely more value for money. We used the Amex Love Dining deal which made it slightly more worth it, but they squeeze you on drinks. Service during lunch time was prompt but basic.

Delicious BBQ skewers and 1-for-1 wine and cocktails seal the deal. The Lime Margarita and Singapore Sling are as good as they come 🍹🍸👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

May 9, 2021 sunny Mother's Day Decided to clock my 17th half marathon this year, from JLG to Boat Quay. Due to lack of mid-week jogs, stamina is not as good as expected. Through endurance and determination, both my feet managed to carry my body weight to complete the distance. The reward is a bottle of isotonic drink and scenic view along Singapore River. Handphone nowadays is good enough to capture nice pictures. Of course, you can miss the popular Hutong along the Singapore River. Cheers! 20210221 大年初十, sunny morning. Decided to conquer the 6th half marathon in 2021. After completing 5 at Tuas Lamp Post 1, this time i decided to jog to Clarke Quay. The cat sent me off. From Jurong Lake Gardens, to Boon Lay Way, Commonwealth Ave West, Alexandra Rd, then Clarke Quay. This is a safer and more comfortable route as the PCN is well connected and the path is lined with trees. Quite breezy and jog towards the morning sun. However, certain stretch is below the MRT track, be careful of the pigeons dropping. Spotted a few groups of cyclists cycling towards Tuas. I'm sure they are going to Lamp Post 1. In contrary, only a few jogging sparingly towards city. From Ng Teng Fung Hospital, Bus Academy, TradeHub, Holiday Inns, Central @Clarke Quay. Finally arrived at Hutong, a famous Northern Chinese eatery. A good place to try Beijing food without flying. Bougbt a bottle of A&W at Cheers before taking mrt back home.

Ambient and service was great! Loving the deco and vibe of the place. The bbq food is fragrantly charred. Meat was still juicy and tender. Don't be afraid to go for the innards, its well cleaned. Go for the grilled vegetables to pair with meat as its a good combination to pair both the crunchy and chewy texture. If you're new to chinese bbq, you might not be used to the heavy hand of spices and cumin, you can opt for less spicy and less cumin. But i love it! 👍

This week I am working at Singapore, most of the time I travel for leasure not for bussines, so after a long day working hard I decided to hop to the riverside from Singapore river that is really touristic and after chase for local flavor I found this place, if I am in Asia I will chase allways for street food, fancy restaurants we have too much back in occident, I didnt want to be disapointed with a bad re-interpretation of assian food in a fancy fake place, so if you are in to the real and local but comfortable ( nice place to sit down and enjoy instead of a food market ) here is the perfect midle point, service so diligent, profesional and friendly, flavors reaaaally good, style bbq, you have your own bbq to keep warm your meat. I choosed for beef and chicken, also is worth it other parts from the chicken and pork that are not only the meat I mean lever, intestine ... etc. with a tiger beer ... OMG so tasty, price of beer 500ml about 14 sgd and the meat 3 sgd average per stick with 2 or 3 pieces of meat, I went for 2 beers and 8 meat seaks.

Great skewers and very good cocktail happy hour deal! Margarita, Maritini and Mojito were nicely made. Food was good in flavour but the service was quite slow on a Sunday evening and I believe it was due to understaffing - I could only see 2 waitresses during my visit. Will visit this place again if I have craving for Chinese skewers.

Average skewers. Doesn’t feel or taste like authentic Chinese cuisine though I must recommend the bbq oysters as they were fresh and flavourful. Other than that it just feels like pub serving subpar skewers. Would’ve been better if they consulted some Chinese chefs on how to make actual 串串 though. You’re even using those NTUC kind of hotdogs for your skewered sausages 😥 Service was good though.

Great BBQ skewers on the CQ riverside. Good food quality at reasonable pricing... considering the location. Effective and quick ordering through QR code. Recommended
