We were expecting an amazing time at food were really beautiful and subtly delicious but we were disappointed with the service. I had the tea pairing but they forgot my tea pairing a few times throughout the dinner. Some halfway eating the course, the tea came, some early. It was really inconsistent. At the last part, we were supposed to have caramel white truffle ice cream, halfway thorough the meal they realized they forgotten to serve the truffle with the ice cream, so they told us to wait for quote some time and shaved the truffle on our half eaten ice cream. Professionally i think, they should gave us a new one since they make a mistake.

This is a review for eSora’s Summer Menu. The Chef and his team really puts in a lot of effort into food taste and *presentation* of its food. Presentation is 6 out of 5 stars, no joke. It was a pleasant and tasty experience. I could taste summer in most of its dishes. It is slightly on the higher price side in fine dining (Omakase) which is what this restaurant is targeting, but you get good quality food and ingredients. Tea pairing add-on is a very appealing offering for those who are not into alcoholics and sake. It’s also very endearing to see the head chef and his team scramble gracefully around for the whole food preparation up to the delivery of each dish, this was what kept me entertained for the most part of the dinner. Picture attached should do most of the illustration. The X-factor so far is seen on the food and the head chef and its food, service can be a tad warmer. Food spread is good enough to make you feel satisfied.

I was little hesitant to make a booking because all these "tea pairing" menu never paired and left me frustrated. This was the first venue I felt satisfied. Still the only place I can recommend with confidence as a tea professional. Thank you team esora for taking care of us so well last and this time. Thank you for creating a beautiful course served with tea. It was divine 🧡 Spent $1200+ for 2 people. Every dollar was worth it.

Gold star experience at this omakase style restaurant with a focus on fresh ingredients and a passion for storytelling. It’s a pricey meal but it’s a meal you’ll relish for a long time! I loved the platter with multiple seafood small dishes as well as the donabe! They even let you take back the uniquely crafted chopsticks as a keepsake. Be sure to make a visit if you can!

Beautiful aesthetics and food presentation, but the appeal ends there. Marketing game v strong but food was poor and worse service was even worse. Ordered wine pairing course and had to remind staff about missing wine pairing for dessert. No apology offered. Made a reservation for a special occasion, but ended up with a half hearted apology about not receiving it. Manager was rude and seemed extremely confused, which led to service staff being quite clueless. There were even Insects on dining table. Food was way overseasoned and quality of sashimi was lackluster, which were shocking considering per head cost of approx $500. Extremely disappointing.

Underwhelming food. Restaurant staff exude lots of attitude starting from the booking process till finish. But the attitude is unjustified judging from the average food standard. One staff in particular - chinese female manager oozed the most attitude, she didn't seem well presented or well versed, we wonder where all the attitude stems from.. Lousy sake selection, cheap produce, it's all about margins for this restaurant.

Unsure of how I feel here, giving it a solid 4. The food is all perfectly executed, some of which are incredibly complex yet balanced like their signature foie gras monaka, and the sanma karaage - what a dish. Flavor bombs included most of the autumn hassun (pictured). You can see Koizumi-san’s technical ability in full display here. My only grouse is the price paid for the ingredients eaten. I was still hungry after this which was really sad :(. Premium ingredients I saw was probably the awabi (diced as part of the hassun not whole), omi beef cubes, probably a little in that kegani chawanmushi. I expected perhaps more premium ingredients for the price paid. They showed off their mushroom donabe and the first thing that came to my mind was “where is the matsutake?!”. It’s in season by the way.

Most exquisite and innovative Japanese fine dining in town. Every dish was most well thought out, immaculately crafted to perfection. Restaurant should be more flexible on the arrival and starting time, asking customers who arrived early to wait outside till reservation time doesn’t give the best customer experience.

This is my 5th time here. Spring menu is generally amazing as with the previous seasons' menu. However, such a huge disappointment with the dessert which simply tasted weird. Both my friend and i only ate 1 spoonful of it and left the rest there, says so much when the meal costs $400 each. Gave our feedback to the restuarant and chef and hope they do take it into consideration.

My 1st 5 star review goes to Esora! Final meal before the dining in restriction and the last day of the Spring menu. I was blown away by the presentation and the quality of the dishes. Really awesome meal by Chef Koizumi and his team. His staff are all very warm, attentive and friendly. Great visuals throughout the meal and really appreciate the effort that has been put into crafting the menu. Thumbs up!

We’re terrible people, only arriving 30 min into the start of their first dinner setting. The staff welcomed and ushered us to our corner seats, gently nudging us to choose our beverages as they started serving. When our dish count matched the rest, the staff came to us to announce the good news and said that we can now enjoy at the chef’s preferred pace. She sounded, and looked, genuinely pleased. So adorable. The refreshed menu celebrated autumn’s arrival with the gathering of ingredients, flavours, colours, and platings that collectively brought fall to the table. Like the first drop of the golden maple leaf. The loss of a star was from the fact that we found ourselves finding food later that night. Maybe we’re just really greedy people 😅

Had an amazing dinner experience at Esora. The 10 course dinner was perfectly paced and the tea pairing really elevates the entire experience. Love the creative use of mushroom throughout the entire menu ! Service was also impeccable by Ally and team who took great care of our the table for the entire 90mins.

We were delighted by the autumn menu this as it served up a good selection of dishes with surprising ingredients reflecting the season. My favourites were the wagyu and stuff chicken wings… perfection. Had tea pairing too and they were on point for every dish.

Dining here felt pretty much like a perfect experience. The restaurant decor embraces a minimalist approach thus highlighting the vibrancy of the food. Meanwhile, the food is stunning. Each dish is meticulously designed and their flowery motif reminds me of ikebana (besides the shiso flowers, the rest of the micro greens and edible flowers have flavours too subtle to taste, but they are so pretty). They are mostly presented in a way where the inedible parts are just as important to the visuals of the dish as the edible parts. The flavours of the dishes are heavily Japanese influenced (one of them was straight up cold soba) but served in impactful bite sizes, like a disjointed kaiseki experience. The taste of every dish is immaculate, harmonious, and brought out the best of every ingredient. Overall, very great experience and I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Such an elegant omakase dining experience in an intimate Japanese setting! Absolutely blown away by the artistic and beautiful presentation of each dish using the freshest, seasonal ingredient air-flown directly fromJapan. Truly an unique dining experience where food meets art. Service was impeccable with a team of attentive staff who made sure all diners had a great time.

My husband brought me to Esora for dinner on my birthday. Both of us agreed this visit and experience were disappointing and it simply wasn't worth the money. The food tasted like it could do with more effort. I somehow felt like some of the dishes were repetitive; I heard the servers mention "purée" and "jelly" so. many. times. Some of the dishes were so off-putting, I didn't even want to finish it. We paid $388++ for a 10-course dinner. For this price, we'd expect so much more.

Wonderful experience, just wonderful. We had always wanted to try Esora since we lived nearby, however they were always full. So this December I tried once again to book for my wife’s birthday and was put on the wait list. Not only did they respond, but guided me all the way with request for the birthday. Managed to get a slot, and the food was wonderful and the service was great. Really delighted that we managed to try and would definitely recommend.

1-star michelin: If you’re looking for an experience that fulfils your taste bud, visuals, smell and good service, Esora is the way to go. Considering I just came back from Hokkaido, I wasn’t expecting them to beat what I had tasted in the fish markets of Hakodate or Sappora. Instead, I was brought on an adventure on how food freshness mix with creativity on cooking can bring about a totally different type of experience. The food wasn’t fully Japanese or French, it was something different yet it brought out all your sensory and make you want to keep that very moment. I still couldn’t describe the dinner experience as it’s something I thoroughly enjoyed and have never tried before. If you crave for a dinner experience that you want the surprises and unexpected twist with definite quality and good food, Esora should be your choice! ps: the dessert is out of this world and meticulously crafted too

Second time we visited Esora. The two courses kept some of their signature dishes which are really great as they are so good. There are many dishes with fish, if you love fish you can def enjoy this place. We felt the fish skin burnt is really delicious . Every dish has the stories and very nice. Dessert is great too. The very average fish is the last one- unagi rice.

Been there twice in 2 months and we were still impressed with the food. Dinner isnt too crazy expensive compared to some other restaurants in singapore. Their clay pot firefly squid rice was an amazing end to the dinner....i am expecting myself going for the 3rd time sooner rather than later. Definitely a strong contender for this year's michelin star.

Lunch at esora Japanese restaurant. Restaurant was full of guests even it takes one and a half hour to complete the course in week day lunch time! Dishes with traditional foods from Japan. Foods and taste more like familiar to me as Japanese but served in the another level of works which amazed me so much. Interior of the restaurant and service experience also supporting great experience of the dining. Can’t wait to visit again. One of my best dining experience ever.

Modern kaiseki with gorgeous interiors. Flavours were light — punchy but never overwhelming. The dashi soup starter was the highlight; flavours of other dishes could’ve been more cohesive and better-balanced at this price point.

Supreme aesthetic and gourmet impression. Personally found the tea and drinks pairing a bit about too fluffy, otherwise entirely worthwhile and satisfying dining experience.

  • 5/5 Ri C. 5 years ago on Google
A beautifully crafted menu and a wonderful dining experience. While the restaurant maintains a casual vibe and dress code, the attentiveness of the chef and team embodies the Japanese spirit of "omotenashi" perfectly. Upon entry we were ushered to our seats. We booked a table in the corner of the restaurant reserves for groups. The first thing that jumps at you is the little square card on top of the serviette that shares a childhood memory of the chef. Each card is different. The attention to detail continues through the tasting menu, where each dish is crafted to consider taste, texture, presentation and also a progressive layering of flavours. It's the first time I dined at a fine dining restaurant and walked away feeling full, the portioning Conte was excellent for every dish. The wine/sake pairings, I'd you choose to shell out the extra is definitely worth it. Well thought-out and reaching beyond Japan for inspiration, the pairings look for wines and or sakes that will not only complement the dish but also evolve the flavors of the drink with each bite you take. I could rave about the food, but that'd make this already long review even longer. The Monaka was the standout dish for me, combining crispy wafers with foie gras, strawberries and nanohana created a whole new tasting experience of a classic Japanese snack that sits at the intersection of sweet and savory. Two quick points I'd like to highlight. The first is the chefs ability to adapt to dietary requirements. We had forgotten to inform them of a shellfish allergy ahead of time, but despite this, the chef still whipped up separate dishes that were every bit as delicious as the planned menu on the fly. The second was how attentive the small team of 4 was, despite a full house our glasses were never empty, and they went the extra mile to fulfill our requests and questions, asking about the cutlery makers when enquired and offering to mail us the wine pairing list. The full experience is wrapped up with a door gift at the end so you can bring a memory of the experience home. It's not a cheap meal by any means, but Esora is really giving more than fine dining, it is a fine dining 'experience' by every sense of the word.

Lunch was a very pleasant experience. Beautiful interior with natural light passing through the air well. Utterly delighted with the 5-course lunch set - hairy crab chawanmushi, sashimi selection, wagyu, rice with fish broth and ice-cream. Service was great but prepare to set aside 2 hours to enjoy the lunch.

  • 4/5 Jia M. 5 years ago on Google
Had high expectations of this place, but it was honestly just ~alright~. Ordered the 7 course autumn menu, which came with some other small bonus dishes. Favourites were the ebi, donabe (which you can get multiple servings of) and chawanmushi. But the highlight was definitely the salted caramel ice cream. The other dishes seemed to always contain yuzu, so it was boring after awhile. Sake selection was decent. Service was very attentive, the restaurant was well-staffed. They gave us a castella cake and a rice ball (from the donabe) to take home. Overall the food could be better for its price, but it was still an enjoyable meal.

Terrible customer service!!! Doors were locked, we tried calling the restaurant a few times, but nobody answered the phone! Waited outside for over 5 minutes. Nobody stationed at the reception! I'm a fan of Esora, ever since my first visit over lunch. It instantly became my favourite restaurant of the year, and I tried to make two more bookings - another lunch and a dinner. I'm glad that my dinner at Esora is confirmed for end of the month, so I can relive all the gastronomic moments all over again. Their signature is the signature foie gras monaka, where the clean tasting foie gras was made even lighter with the perfume from ginger flowers and fig. Deservedly signature, and I'm glad this would be served (albeit in different variations) in every course menu, whether over lunch or dinner.

Service was excellent given that the staff were very attentive to our needs and the food was served at a perfect pace. Both my wife and me were utterly impressed with their grilled amberjack which was incredibly smoky, delicate and juicy. Definitely one of best fish dishes we have eaten thus far. It held its own against other course items with premium ingredients such as A5 wagyu, uni etc. We are fortunate to have our post wedding celebration here.

Had a birthday celebration dinner with ex colleagues and we chose this place because we heard so much about it. The food in general has a strong flavour, umami and leaving memorable taste in the mouth. Everyone opted for Tea pairing as it was really unusual concept but the Teas really pairs well with the dishes. Unlike most japanese Kaiseki in singapore where you have something light to heavy then finish with premium japanese fruits, this place serves flavourful and impactful dish right from start to end. The chef employs many smoke and charcoal grill components creating a unique interpretation of his style of big and powerful dish yet intricately and delicately presented on the plate. Flavours were strong yet elegant, an ironic feeling. One of the first few dish we had was a foie gras with ginger flower, the richness was covered by the aromatic herb with touch of acidity and sweetness from seasonal persimmon and citrus zest, unbelievably good, A foie gras dish can feel so light and i can probably eat more because of that. Charcoal grilled fish was to die for. perfectly grilled over charcoal with nice char skin and the texture of the flesh was bouncy (deep sea fish) like lobster tail or crayfish. One of the most amazing thing is the use of dashi in many of the dish or sauces which is in many way addictive, the eel soup was so good i wished we could have more but had to save stomach space for more dish to come. love the pigeon main i had, perfectly done just the way i love it like how Odette and Tairroir does it. Very skill execution for beautiful and juicy breast meat. coming to dessert it resembles more like a european fine dining restaurant, pre dessert as palate cleanser made with brown sugar into a pear shape with pear components, a japanese fig with umeshu ice cream finished with petit four of japanese seasonal fruits or ingredient. Unlike most japanese place where desserts seems like an afterthought, desserts here are well thought and executed. Overall i would highly recommend this place for people who enjoys fine dinning japanese experience but sick of just fresh air flown sashimi which product is everything. Over here you are experiencing the knowledge, skills and techniques of the chef which is really why it’s worth the price. Everyone can get their hand on expensive ingredients but not everyone can execute it like ESORA. Service was good with plenty of smiles and knowledgeable on what they are serving.
