Once you have been to a place like Sushi Kimura, you can never go back to mainstream sushi anymore. Every piece of sushi are just masterfully made and Kimura San would even adjust the amount of rice in each piece to suit your liking. For the ladies with a smaller appetite, you can always ask for less rice. What I'm most impressed with was the plate of sashimi with the ice plant. Everything tastes so exquisite. The slightly charred fish just greatly enhanced the tasting experience. I need more uni though!!! With all that mentioned, I didn't give it five stars simply because I wasn't blown away given the price I've paid. I expected more. I greatly appreciate the kind gesture of the chef himself presenting me with a specially packed seaweed as a birthday gift for me!

Quality sushi and food with thoughtful presentation and attentive staff. While I think deserving of its one-Michelin-star status, a bit of polish on the experience is lacking as compared to other Michelin-starred sushi restaurants. Food wise, some dishes were exceptional, while others just good. Adding my ratings by dish to the photos. Some small service details could be improved. For example, my oshibori was used and sat for 10+ minutes before I kindly mentioned that it could be cleared. Additionally I was mid bite when a staff member interrupted to place another dish in front of me. Small restaurant details: the linear diffuser directly above the katana on display is visibly warped and distracting from the otherwise serene, minimalistic aesthetic. The chopsticks were OK, but could be of much higher quality and condition. Also, the chopstick rest design clashes with the other utensils and crockery. Finally, on the other patrons, so many were focused on taking photos of every dish it was quite distracting—and detracted from my ability to enjoy the chef and his staff’s craft. At one point, a woman took a video call on speakerphone that was quite disturbing to what I suspect is the desired environment.

While the food was adequately fine, the freshness and quality of grub didn’t meet expectations of a one-Michelin star restaurant. The sashimi course, as well as the 8 sushis, tasted one dimensional. The dining process also lacked the personal touch of an Omakase experience. I can think of better alternatives for the current price point of $250++/pax for lunch.

Stunning dinner. Every element was so thoughtful and considered, and artfully arranged. Quality was excellent and service top-notch. I’m not keen on nor have tried fish liver but what I tasted here was absolutely delicious. What’s interesting is how much we loved the sushi rice which is chewier and prepared with aged vinegar. It truly elevated the seafood. Can’t wait to return!

It's a superb 1 Michelin star restaurant. Enjoyable, especially for a celebration like a birthday or an anniversary. Chef is friendly and nice, service crew is superb, the food is extremely fresh, and the sakes are uniquely curated. The story is resounding as well, with chef flying ingredients back from his own hometowns, representing them here in Singapore. That said, I'm not sure if half a grand for the experience, is something I feel easily comfortable with parting, for the price point of the ingredients (vs some other omakase spots in Singapore).

There are 3 great Japanese chef at Sushi Kimura. Friendly chef Kimura made our experience comfortable and pleasant. Chef explained the types and parts of the fish from different parts of Hokkaido. The ingredients were very fresh. The settings and introduction of every dish were matched nicely. The sushi rice spread in your mouth so wonderfully that could only be mastered by a high level sushi chef. The fragrance and tasty grilled fish felt so good for the palate. The Organic Jack bean tea from his friend's farm ended so well.

Recommended by our fav omakase chef in Thailand. Got similar vibe and taste compare to Sushi Masato (also one michelin star). Food was great but service was not on point.

This review is quite overdue but better late than never. Can easily say it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. The chef did a great job of bringing ingredients together to make some truly fantastic dishes. Hope to be back again sometime soon.

Last 2 Michelin restaurants to try. Sushi Kimura is a well balanced sushi place. We picked their $200+ Omakase lunch menu. It was good. What I like was that it wasn't the usual fish most sushi places give like seabass and horse mackerel and snapper. It has it's own twist which makes it a little different. I really like their grunt fish and jack mackerel sushi. The quality of their aburi otoro (tuna belly) was really good. Uni with tuna on rice was a good ending. Overall a good lunch.

Comfortable space. Went for lunch and was presented with familiar but high quality ingredients. The Nigiri rice here is still perhaps on of the best you will get in SG, each and every Nigiri is served with the same warm temperature of rice which shows their attention to details. Staff are attentive and the chef himself was super friendly.

Very excellent omakase. We had Rikyu with sake pairing, and every dish was amazing. Some highlights for us included the aburi bonito sashimi, grilled blackthroat sea perch, ankimo and of course the chuutoro and ootoro nigiri. The sake also pairs very well with the course. The service was excellent and chef Kimura was very friendly and easy to chat with. He loves to explain his dishes and sake in detail, and jokes around as well. Great food and sake, and wonderful atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back!

Had the Haru set. Very nice interior and zen feel. Food was what you expect, even the chutoro was almost ootoro. The ika came off a little slimy tbh, not the best for sure. Noteworthy; Chutoro was almost ootoro Murasaki uni melts in your mouth Saba, perfectly seasoned great texture Clams rare to have it in omakase but great The bowl, the donburu is awesome and the seasonal small squid in it is simply amazing and best I ever had.

Had the special $180 winter menu! Chef Tomo is the cutest and has so much passion for what he does, which certainly transcends and is communicated in the food he prepares! Impeccable ✨ Glad to have a chance to be served by the man himself and the quality of the Shari is certainly of a different level!

Awesome time dinning here. Chef Kimura is friendly and constantly engaging us throughout the whole meal. He share about the ingredients passionately and the service crew was equally up to the standards of this place. Every dish was delicious.

A sensory delight from start to end. From the amazing interior and atmosphere, to the masterful and graceful slices by the chef, to the beautiful sight and taste of the ingredients. Celebrated my anniversary with my wife here and it was absolutely pleasant. Staff were attentive, and the chef is engaging as well, explaining each course and occasionally cracking some jokes with the diners. Each course was a masterpiece of their own, and makes one anticipate the next along the culinary journey. At the end of meal, chef Kimura presented a surprise gift and a polaroid picture of my wife and I as a memory of this wonderful experience.

My wife and I had a pleasant time at Sushi Kimura, where we enjoyed a great tasting menu. Ingredients used were simple yet so so fresh that every mouthful was a colourful burst of flavour on our tongues. The elegance of the dishes shown through, and the interactions of Chef with us was amusing and added a light touch to the meal, through all the seriousness the Chef had in the preparation of the meal. We thoroughly enjoyed it!

Went to Sushi Kimura for celebrate Valentine’s Day, wonderful experience :) the food is nice and fresh, some food taste delicious even don’t know how to describe it. Giving 10 stars. Waitress Anice is very professional and patient to explain each food import from which country and the food names and parts we eat. At last we got a small gift Sake Chocolate for Valentines Day . Overall satisfying for the services and foods :)

Definitely one of the best sushi places in Singapore but you would definitely pay for that privilege. The Omakase costs $480 (after taxes) but you do get some truly exotic and generous servings of top tier fish. From the extremely rare monkfish (the fish itself rather than just the liver) to scallops plumper than your cheek, you will find yourself struggling to remember all the names of the dishes. Kimura san is also extremely friendly and chatty - making the entire experience extremely pleasant. My only gripe is that the rice and soy sauce is rather heavy and overpowers some of the white-fleshed fish from time to time

  • 3/5 권현수 4 years ago on Google
Too expensive and so-so taste. I spent SGD 500.25 for 1 person on dinner omakase. And overall experiences were a way below from my expectation. Taste of soup was not deep and a little bit salty on many menus. Staff forgot to bring a spoon for chawanmushi and one of them couldn't explain details on menu - just said sea food. I will not recommend. If you want better sushi in Singapore, please visit Sushi Ichi at Marriott.

One of the best sushi restaurant.. experiences a special kind of Omakase treatment for the chatty chef stand in front of you to prepare the best of the season.. great food, creative mix and lots to eat. Service is tip top, Chef is amiable, produce served is fresh and sake is reasonably priced. Hands down one of my favourite Japanese places for sushi in Singapore.

Very special lunch course, loved all the nigiri and uni rice bowl. Wish the uni can be eaten individually without blending them into the rice.

Food is so filling, chefs and staff are friendly and make the atmosphere comfortable It was a BIT too much towards the end of the sushi tsunami course. Personally would prefer a slightly lower cost by reducing the amount of uni 🥵 All food was top-notch!

Stepping into this restaurant feels like stepping out of the bustles of Orchard Road and into the quaint back alleys of Ginza. This is an excellent sushi-ya, but this you can already tell from their current one Michelin star rating. So here is what I can add: For our lunch we have pre-ordered the Raku omakase set (250$++) at reservation already. The four otsumami snacks were all top notch, with the Hokkaido abalone topped with sea weed being a particular highlight. During this part of the menu it's already pretty obvious that quality here is imperative, with all ingredients being flown in from Japan, including the water used for cooking the rice. Also noteworthy, that while sourcing all ingredients in Japan, they also focus on organic producers. The nigiri sequence was of course the highlight. Edomae style, quite pronounced vinegar notes in the shari (rice). Love how neatly the neta (toppings) are placed, giving a very harmonious mouth feel. After eight pieces of nigiri, the lunch was finished by a bowl of rice topped with sea urchin, ikura and negitoro, two kind of egg custard and heavenly Japanese fruits. They have a short but crisp wine list with champagne, sake and white Burgundy but as it was lunch time we stuck to complementary green tea.

Really fresh sushi served by a really friendly chef! You can really taste the difference with the tuna here, it's all wild and not farmed like most places will serve you... The texture is really unique and the flavour will blow you away. Other standouts include the cave onion soup and the chawanmushi.

This is during the COVID-19 time. Takeaway premium sushi from Kimura. It's extremely hard to keep the Sushi tasty. But Chef Kimura made it! The ingredients were fresh, the rice keep it's shape as showed in the photo, and still easily break in your mouth. Of course it's better experience and taste in the shop. But I'll say this takeaway sushi( grab delivery ) is a big thumps up. Highly recommended! ?

We had the 120 SGD 唐津 Karatsu lunch course which included some starters including a beautiful and deliciously fresh salad, chawanmushi, various sushi, an asari clam miso soup, and a dessert. I tried to note the names of all the sushi we had in the attached photos but couldn't quite get all of them haha. The meal was so lovely and pleasant. Everything including and especially the sushi was top-notch. We were mainly served by Chef Mitsuさん and Owner-Chef Tomooさん was there too. They were both so friendly and accommodating and it was an absolute pleasure interacting with them and watching both chefs masterfully at work. ごちそうさまでした!

sushi kimura has really fallen off its perch as one of the best sushi restaurants in singapore. used to always look forward to sampling how kimura would incorporate seasonal elements, but this time round, the only thing seasonal was the character summer on the table mat. also, since the female #2 has left, if you arent fortunate and not placed in the middle of the sushi counter, the sushi from the new chefs are really sub-standard - quite surprised kimura doesn't perform more diligent QC.

The omakase menu was very wonderful. Every dish was prepared with perfection. Standouts include the uni dishes, grilled fish, unagi and abalone. Certainly the best omakase I have tasted so far. The crew also gave us a birthday card with a photo and a bag of tea. This definitely added a warm personal touch. Highly recommended!

Fantastic sushi! My wife brought me here for my birthday and we had the omakaze sets. The sushi was extremely fresh, and the thing that made it special was the little touches added to the fresh seafood. The different infused salts really heightened the flavours of the delicate fish, making it taste that much fresher. We also tried lots of new fishes and vegetables that I hadn't tried before. The meal was topped off with some yummy dessert and amazing fruits (funny how a little orange and melon can refresh your senses and make them taste like the best fruits you've ever had!) Overall, it was a very unique experience and made it a very memorably birthday!

We made a lunch reservation after my son was hankering for his sushi. We couldn't fly to his favourite Japanese restaurant Kyubey in Japan just for this craving, and decided on a treat @ Sushi Kimura. Although sushi style is edomae, but the shari is very different. You cannot really compare the 2 different style. Due to aged vingear used, the flavor of the sushi here has more complexity and depth in flavor. Much like aged red wine, it reveals different layers of flavors and taste with each bite. It went really well with the chutoro. I The scallop burger was fantastic with the sweetness lingering minutes after your last bite. My son had both the uni ikura bowl as well as the uni sushi roll. Both were good but with the uni roll, the creaminess and sweetness of the uni stood out better. My son said it was better than the Kyubey. We really liked what we were eating and will come back again.

As mentioned in other reviews, the sushi rice here has more soy sauce, but it seems like the chef balanced this with less sauce brushed on the fish. First time trying some of the types of fish, and we both agreed the sushi here is on par with Shinji's. Service was very attentive, with the staff replacing our unfinished cups every so often to ensure we had hot green tea throughout the meal. For our anniversary, the chef complemented our meal with their uni ikura don. We were also gifted a packet of premium seaweed (same one used at their restaurant) and a handwritten card and photograph to congratulate us on our milestone. Thank you for making our day even more memorable!

Hard to pick a favourite but what really stands out: That the basics like rice and seaweed are given so much love and respect. <3 The glorious food plus the warm and friendly service really made this a stand-out meal. This place is an experience! First time eating sushi, any raw stuff but i was so glad I went to the right place. Been craving kimura san's sushi ever since, being a sushi newbie that's how good the food was! Loved the ambience, counter seats are the best!

  • 4/5 P. M. 4 years ago on Google
We had the Karatsu ($120) and Hagi ($180) courses during lunch. Karatsu was a bit overpriced for what you got, while Hagi was perfectly priced in my opinion. All of the seafood is of very high quality, which goes without saying. No complaints about the food quality whatsoever. Service was also very attentive and kind. The only drawback is the number of seats at the sushi counter. In my opinion there are too many seats for the tiny size of the room, which makes the experience feel less premium. In general the vibe was friendly, bustling, and open, and not as silent and ritualistic as you'd experience at other high-end sushiyas. No problem with that per se, but I did find it a bit unexpected for the price point.

Was looking forward to this omakase experience and to be wowed, only to find myself having food poisoning at 3AM. Reserved for a 7PM slot on the 30th Dec 2023 to try this highly raved omakase but left disappointed and dissatisfied. While I understand that they are nested in orchard, the price is not justifiable. It could have been $300 tops and not a hefty 450$ price tag per person for dinner. The crew is nice and attentive but the whole experience was below expectation, sushi was hit and miss. For the price I was expecting every mouthful to be a hit. Attached dinner menu alongside with other dishes and left out unwanted food poisoning mess. A trip to Japan would have make more sense for this exorbitant omakase experience.
