Ironically, this nature reserve is no walk in the parks. Climbing that steep upslope to get to the top of the hill alone is a physically demanding task in itself for the average person. The stairs and handrails help with climbing up or down certain sections due to the elevation of this hill.

I had a great hike. Thanks to the MRT, I was able to take a train to Beautyworld station, followed by a short 7mins walk to the location. The hardest part was the starting portion where the path forward was a very steep upward slope. Once you conquer that, the rest of the hike was very manageable. Pay attention to the sudden sightings of the monitor lizards and wild mushrooms!

Bukit Timah Nature Resserve is a great nature treasure well preserved for posterity. Great place to exercise amidst nature. 👍🌟. If you are lucky, you get to see exotic birds , the monitor lizards and of course chicken running around in the jungle. Before you start your hike, kindly ensure that you are well hydrated and have used the restroom if necessary. Once you are on your way up, you won't find water until you return to base station. The steep slope UP 🆙⬆️ can be a bit of a challenge if you are not fit and so are the stairs for those who are not used to rigours of a climb. What i did not like about this place was the tarred road going up/ down was and is not well maintained 👎👎. It was easy to trip / sprain your ankle unless you were careful. In addition there are dry leaves and it could potentially lead to a skidding misadventure. I really wish the tarred areas are well maintained and the dry leaves are cleared in time. Just as much as I love this wonderful Nature Reserve, I also hope that the tarred road up/ down is well maintained, in addition to clearing of the dried leaves.

A terrific place to sweat it out! The climb to the summit is only 1.2km but boy, will you sweat cos the initial climb is steep. When I reached the stairs about 2/3 way up, I had the choice of a steep 380m climb or a more gentle 560m walk. I chose the former as I will walk the latter going down. I continued to Hindhere Nature Park afterwards and the entrance is just next to the start of the Bukit Timah Summit walk. This is a pleasant 30 minute walk to and from a beautiful quarry. Along the way, there is a free (but short) zip line for youngsters to try! The entire walk took 1.5 hours and it was a good workout #zipline

Our usual weekend morning exercise place but it can be quite crowded also. Better take the trails as they are less crowded. Good to hike between Dairy Farm Nature Park and Bukit Timah Nature Park since it is more challenging. They should have some toilet up in the mountain as I never see one after the entrance.

Nice to find shady trails with some elevation. It's difference vibes compared to my other favorite trails in East Coast Park, it's much more woodsy here and climbing to the summit provides up and down trails. While I was planning to continue to Dairy Farm Nature Park after the Summit, that was not possible as the trail to the Dairy Farm is closed (both upper and lower loop trails). Within The Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, a large portion of Jungle Fall Path is also closed off for maintenance. See photos posted for closure details. I opted to detour through South View Path on the way to the Summit and was rewarded with quieter trail, albeits lots of staircase up and down. Also, took the staircase to the Summit instead of winding through the main trail. It's steep but thankfully shorter distance. Took the main trail down to the park exit - after a detour due to closure of Dairy Farm Loop and Jungle Fall Path trails. It's one of my favorite trails - shady trails and lots of birds and large trees. PS: The visitor centre is just OK but the vending machines sell a good selection of cold drinks.

Very beautiful trail, quiet, natural and very well managed. Has lot many tracks to reach on top. On the way you can spot monkeys, wild pig, squirrels and many other small creatures. A very good cardiovascular exercise place to be in.

While the main track leading from Visitor’s Centre to the 163.63m Bukit Timah Summit is very popular with the public, with both young and old burning calories to scale Singapore’s highest hill, it is often difficult for wildlife enthusiasts to spot interesting animals along this stretch due to the human traffic and noise. For me who develops a passion for photographing wildlife, I prefer the quieter ambience of outlying trails such as Catchment Path, Cave Path and Pipeline Trial. With patience, I was rewarded with sightings of the green crested lizard, branded imperial butterfly and greater racket-tailed drongo. The rich biodiversity of Singapore’s wildlife is best exemplified by the central catchment nature reserve, where animals thrive within lush forested areas.

Really enjoyed hiking here. Please note that the path to the summit is very steep and challenging for people who are not fit. There’s also stairs at some segments of the path. I went on a weekend and it was packed with people running and hiking. I suggest to bring a lot of water as it’s humid and hot and you get exhausted. Saw some turtles and squirrels along the way.

Love this place. Good to wander around but hiking a bit tough with some steps about 18 inches high. Maybe not good for kids. One fit young man put his baby on his back and he was puffing away. Lots of people out enjoying the excursion. Lots of trails to follow. Easy Medium Hard. Lots of interesting fact posters along the routes

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve was a wonderful experience for me! I enjoyed the steep climb, which was a good challenge. I also found a smart way to avoid the steps (hehehe) by taking the steep road upward instead. I loved the scenic route that I took on the way down, which had amazing views. It was like being in a beautiful forest. The trail can be tough for some people, but it is rewarding and fun. I recommend arriving early, as the car park can get full, but you can also park at a nearby mall. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is a great place to visit if you love nature and adventure!

One of Singapore’s few elevated hikes! Despite a steep get-go, it was a relatively short hike to the summit, with a round trip lasting us less than an hour on the main route! Well maintained trail, highly patronised by regular joggers, makes for a good get-away from the bustling city. The only setback was that there wasn’t too much of a view at the top, considering the dense and tall vegetation all around the summit.

Found another access overhead bridge. From Beauty World Food Centre out from escalator will saw the overhead bridge and walked straight passed by 2 shops. Down overhead bridge walked straight passed by another overhead bridge walked straight then at road junction turn left walked up passed by Le Wood. Have attached photos of where the overhead bridge located. Before started hiking went to washroom first, which located at the foot of the hill. First 1/3 is the super steep up slope. Really steep, awhile reached Kruing Hut. After that the slope is no longer that super steep. This 2/3 slope until the end is with drinage. Roughly took me 30mins to reach the Summit as I turned to another slope and turned back. Going down the hill for the 2/3 slope is not very steep. But for the 1/3 super steep slope is scary of going down. My next visit will visit Hindhere Quarry after hiking as it will reopened on 01/10/2022

The tallest hill in Singapore at 163 metres high, this is the place for fitness and nature freaks, not for the faint at heart! If you just want to relax in the canopy of trees, you can come here, but beware of the monkeys! Wildlife is great and all information about the wildlife and trees there are available at the path

A place for those who loves to have an adventure in the nature side of Singapore. You can hike, cycle through the designated trails. Bring along family ad friends for a great adventure together. I don’t know how many times I’ve been, but this place has always been the best spot to go to. There are places that are challenging which I love.

This section of the nature reserve is a challenging section with steep steps both going up and down, thus requiring a deep breath with careful steps as it's worth a hike.

Feels and look unlike any other place in Singapore. The lake in the quarry felt like I was in a different country. Such a peaceful and serene location. Can just sit there for hours looking at all the small turtles swimming merrily in the water. The reflection of the towers on the water is so cool. Must visit - can combine with a hike to Bukit Timah Hill.

I took public transport from downtown to come to this hiking trail. It was a nice trail, easy-medium level. I saw a lot of monkeys on the way back. Only few people were doing this hike on a weekday.

Bukit Timah Nature reserve is a great place for trekking! It might be tiring going on the summit but it was really an enjoyable journey! There’s a nice view on the way with variety shapes of leaves for trekkers go explore nature. There are also shelters for us to rest and a great view at the catchment. There were also many paths for us to explore. I even went around there and at the visitor center, there is a 3D view of the entire Bukit Timah nature reserve. 5 stars

Enjoyed the hike at Bukit Timah this morning. This is my second time here. The first slope is the steepest and longest. Really is quite the push to climb it. The rest of the way is more manageable. Takes less than a half hour or so depending on speed. Summit has no views from there because of the trees. There is a hut for shelter. It was raining when we got up there. On the way down, an ambulance picked someone from the top. It makes me feel safe to know that medical help is accessible on the hill!

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is a fantastic destination for nature lovers and hikers. With its diverse range of flora and fauna, including rare species, it offers a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of Singapore's tropical rainforest ecosystem. The trails are well-maintained, and the summit offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area. However, it can get crowded, especially on weekends, so it's best to visit during off-peak hours for a more peaceful experience. Overall, it's definitely worth a visit for anyone looking to escape the urban hustle and immerse themselves in nature.

Been to this reserve many times and it’s well maintained and great to visit during different times of the day as there is always the canopy of the trees providing shade. The walking routes are well kept and swept so it makes walking a lot easier. The toughest would be the initial climb which I put it as around 40 degrees upslope. Otherwise the rest of it is probably easy to walk. Forest is serene during the right time in the weekdays. There are also a couple of possible hiking routes branching from here, eg to MacRitchie, Rifle Range park and to even Mandai trail. Take care to keep noise to the minimum and avoid playing music to appreciate nature. There are macaques seen frequently and depending on where you hike to, you may see wild boars and other wild animals. Do take your own trash out and enjoy the walk

Nice trails to take a walk. Love the lake scenery although it is quite hot and sunny right by the lake due to no shade at mid day, recommended to visit early if you want to enjoy this view. Also, trails might not be suitable for elders, but great for those who loves physical challenges🏃‍♀️💪

Escape from the city life and step into the nature is something that some of us would want to do. Best place to enjoy the nature and escape from your busy life. This is also one of the many places in Singapore that one might consider to do "hiking". The terrains are not that bad, just have to be careful not to disturb the wildlife or to feed them. Many might go there in the morning to escape from the afternoon scorching sun, but the vast amount of trees will keep one cool regardless. The idea timing to go to avoid crowds would be in the afternoon during cooling weather. Evening time would be idea during hotter weather.

I'm a nature lover and I love to hike. This place has been restored to better facilitate nature lovers while hiking. There fews path you can choose from the simpler route to a more difficult route. Please take note the place can be over crowded usually over weekend especially during this pandemic of covid 19. Better time to go is very early morning or late afternoon to avoid congestion. I love the bigs steps so I will choose to walk inside the trail and take the steps. Make sure you bring rain coat especially during this unpredictable weather.

Entah siape lah yang desain slope yang mula2 start tu. Macam steep sangat. Taccod tau boleh tergolek! Termengah-mengah dibuatnye mendaki bukit. Tapi tu lah, we didn’t know that it was super accessible via Beauty World MRT, just a few minutes walk and we already at the entrance. We went there about 7.30am and the weather was really cooling. It was a Sunday and the crowd was not that many I would say. But when going back, we saw a lot more people so i would recommend going early on a weekend. For those looking for a parking space, don’t drive there. The parking was full and the queue was long, so best to just go there via public transport. There’re multiple routes you can explore, which we did. We didn’t know where we were going but it was still a fun trekking session and you wont get lost as long as you stay within the walking path.

Reaching BTNR is easy from MRT station DT5 to Hindhede entrance, or DT3 DairyFarm entrance. Once in the forest, even on sunny days, the walk through canopy covered trail is pleasantly cool. All the trails are good for rainy day treks and BTNR is dotted with rest huts, good for shelter should rain gets too heavy.

Beautiful Nature Reserve - The first part of walking was the toughest - since the slope was very steep - Highly recommend taking a water bottle, mosquito patch and some sunscreen - The entire walk is very beautiful especially listening to the sounds of the birds and insects - Watch out for Monkeys - There are different trails to walk - follow the maps which are setup through the trail - There are also benches available at different location to sit and relax - Very difficult to go if it’s raining - MRT is walkable distance - There is also a nice car park available - Just near the visitor centre there is a restroom and drinking water available

Nice little hill at just over 160m and will take 15 mins to get up via the shortest path. The bonus is the difficulty rated Dairy Farm Loop (yellow path) if you fancy a bit more challenge. Set aside one hour for that loop and there will be tons and tons of concrete wet stairs to overcome! ?

The nature reserve is home to Singapore's highest peak at roughly a hundred and sixty meters. It's a great place to walk around and explore the nature on offer. The biodiversity and animal species you can see if you choose to be vigilant are incredible. The hike is not particularly strenuous and you should watch out for monitor lizards because they are everywhere and easy to come in contact with. There's lots of parking and the nature reserve is relatively easy to get to. It can be quite busy on weekends but is it really nice way to get out and enjoy a different part of Singapore. If you take a particular route you can head down towards the Singapore quarry and Dairy Farms which give you a slightly different scenery and very often near the quarry there are lots of monkeys.

A sizeable patch of primary rainforest in the middle of one of the most densely populated cities in the World (so they say) . . . and they have monkeys there too! Gorgeous

Went in the mid afternoon and it was still relatively quite pack with people. Great place, many routes to take to summit. Ranging from easy to difficult, and the difficult routes are mainly filled with stairs. Really great. Something we must conserve at all cost since it's our last remaining piece of primary jungle in a hill setting. The educational signs are illuminating and easy to understand. The climb to the top is tough but rewarding as there's so much to see and enjoy along the way. It's great that things are left as they are eg fallen trees, leaf litter etc just as it is in the wild.

An interesting nature reserve with a highlight of the highest natural point in Singapore (163.63m). The walking path is wide and solid with concrete. Be warned that the first 700m from the visitor centre to the summit is a very steep incline path (it is not stairs and this is the steepest slope that I have seen in Singapore's nature reserves), it will be wise if you wear a proper shoes, not sandals. It will be quite crowded in the weekend.

If you are board and looking for people who love to wake early in the morning like around 5am on weekend, there is no place like this place. I mean, there are lots of mosquito, they claim to have animals, mud and the same sight, trees, everywhere you look. Overall, it is pretty average for the first time. Overtime it will be a great place to train your running as you want to get out of there fast.

Good stream of early morning hiker. Today Sunday the 3rd of Jan 2021 the weather was cool. Great hike with friends. Did almost a 12km hike. The trail was a little wet due to the relentless rain the last couple of days. Super fun! Need to do this again soon.

Excellent place for a good workout. Recommend to take it all the way through Dairy Farm Loop if you want to have the full experience. Highly recommend good walking / hiking shoes, lots of steps to climb through the Diary Farm Loop.

Calming scenic as ever, but I wish it could look less artificial and more natural in the efforts to preserve the soil erosion process. Allow more flowing streams and quarry views. Anyway excellent efforts to the nature preservation team 👍

It's really lovely😍 place. Highly recommended for running /walking at morning.. Please be careful, sometimes you may find snakes. Don't go too deep inside the hill especially when it's dark..

Great alternative place to consider hiking if you want to try something new other than just hiking in Mac Ritchie Reservoir Park. Be warned that the first few 100 metres is a steep upwards incline and it can get rather physically taxing for the uninitiated, the air is also rather humid so be sure to bring lots of water to stay hydrated. Most of the walk in the nature reserve involves ascending and descending steep stairs, so do the necessary warm-up and preparation before venturing into the nature reserve for a hike. There's also a washroom and vending machine at the entrance of the nature reserve.

A good place for families and friends to get close to nature while exercise leisurely. The roads and trails are well paved and maintained, safe and suitable for kids to explore. There are plenty of signages and maps around so navigation is easy. Overall an easy and family friendly nature reserve for most age groups so highly encourage everyone to give this place a try!

Fantastic place to explore #SG green. Winding, hilly trails that are well marked and graded for different levels. My best spot is the observation deck of the old quarry that is filled with crystal clear water that collects from all the adjoining areas. So tranquil and serene.

My favourite hiking place when combine with the Dairy Farm loop - I used it for getting ready to climb Mt Agung, Mt Rinjani and the last one Mt Gede/Pangrango just before the pandemic. It is also a good base to extend your distance with MacRitchie reservoir loop, Chestnut/Butterfly trail, Mandai T15 trail, the rail corridor to woodlands / tanjong pagar. It is for everyone, take your own pace, once you get used to it, you can run down various trails or run up the summit push.

Bukit Timah Hill is the highest point in Singapore. I love the trails here because of the up slope and down slope, which is ideal for training of our quad muscles for hiking. Train with some weights for resistance and stronger legs. Toilet facilities and water point are available in the park. Don’t forget to check out Singapore Quarry and Hindhede Quarry when you are there. Many birdie photographers mount their tripods at both the quarries waiting to capture the splendid moments of the different bird species. It is now possible to connect to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve via the Rail Corridor. Nearest MRT station is at Beauty World, and you head to Bukit Anak Road before arriving at the main entrance through Hindhede Drive.

  • 4/5 2mymisc 2 years ago on Google
The highest natural peak one can go in Singapore. Nice climb up with various route options, slope or stairs and even a track for mountain bikers. Toilet and water coolers at the foot of the hill for stock up before and replenish after. A few huts with benches also allow rest points along the way. However the peak is a little underwhelming, can consider building a viewing gallery for people to see the view from up there and also more sheds at the summit would be great as it can get crowded. Also parking space is very limited, so be prepared to wait for parking if you’re driving there. Overall, still a nice mildly challenging climb, suitable even for elderly and young children 👍💪

  • 5/5 Shihau W. 2 years ago on Google
One of the last stretches of primary rainforests left in Singapore, this is a popular destination for people to go trekking or running. Despite its tiny size, it contains quite a bit of flora and fauna but the particular concept behind this place is what sets it apart, in the sense that people can naturally be a part of nature as they go for their leisurely stroll. It’s not just a rainforest isolated and left on its own for those who would maybe explore.

  • 5/5 David T. 1 year ago on Google
Steep moderate climb to summit... Although shortcut stairs near to top are killer, avoid if possible... However well worth the journey using the road... Many Monkeys playing in the trees above at the radio tower.

  • 5/5 Eric T. 1 year ago on Google
The most exciting and challenging part of our journey today. The walk up to the summit at the beginning stage was steep with about 50 degree gradient incline. The climbing of the stairs was quite hectic due to the steep climb and uneven steps. But there is an alternatr and easier path on the main road for other users. The view of the summit include communication towers, a huge resting area and popular stone landmark indicating the height, longtitude and latitude of the summit for many to take picture with. The good thing about this place is that there are several resting along the way up so that you could take a short break before continuing.

The Best Experience of Singapore. If you want to trek so this is the best place to explore.View is really amazing . The highest natural peak one can go in Singapore. Nice climb up with various route options, slope or stairs and even a track for mountain bikers.

  • 5/5 Alona D. 1 year ago on Google
In my opinion, this nature reserve (free entrance) located in the West of Singapore has the best hiking terrain in Singapore for those who wished to train for adventure hikes. For those who want to take an easier trail, just take the road path all the way up to the summit (the steeper part is just in the beginning 200m or so). This can be done in under 30 mins for most people with moderate stamina. There are also cycling paths for those who are more adventurous.

  • 4/5 Joanna L. 1 year ago on Google
Highest hill in sg! Multiple trails. We did the steep upslope and some stairs in 1 hr and no detour. Good recovery training and didnt have time to try the newly open rifle range! Maybe next time. More monkeys during this visit not sure if its was due to less crowd
