Terrible service, Liars, Indifferent, Cheats We had booked an Opium Suite which in pictures is shown as a huge place. On check-in we were given a room which they tried to pass off as Opium Suite. That clearly was not the case as the Opium Suite has 2 TVs while the room which they tried to give us had 1 TV. Very irritated with the situation, we booked another room of higher category on the Marriott Bon Voy App - Duxton Duplex Suite. GUESS WHAT??? THE GUY AT THE RECEPTION SAYS THEY OVERBOOKED AND CANT GVE US THE DUPLEX SUITE. Mind you, the Duplex Suite was available at that moment but they THEY WOULD NOT GIVE THAT ROOM TO US SAYING IT WAS RESERVED FOR SOMEONE ELSE. I INSISTED ON BEING TAKEN TO THE EMPTY DUPLEX SUITE. SO THEY TOOK ME THERE AND I GOT TO SEE THAT THE ROOM WAS NOT OCCUPIED. I TOOK PICTURES OF MYSELF IN THAT EMPTY ROOM. BUT THEY WOULD NOT GIVE THE ROOM TO US. WE CAME BACK TO THE RECEPTION AND AFTER MUCH MUCH MUCH FIGHTING THEY AGREED TO GIVE US A SUITE HIGHER THAN DUPLEX SUITE. TERRIBLY STUPID HOTEL POLICIES. AVOID AT ALL COST

Lacking experience and low standard of maintenance. The only thing standing out is the heritage building and eclectic design. The rest is mediocre and disappointing. Used suite night award to upgrade to an Opium suite. Very visible mould on the ceiling. Room is generally dusty. Broken bedside controls and USB ports. Extremely low headroom and tight walkway contributes to claustrophobic feeling. Lack of personalisation or any experience in general. A far cry from the Six Senses days.

The most atmospheric hotel in town. Well conserved heritage structure complete with its original grandfather lift, it is one of the most iconic building in the area. Great location of night life, speciality restaurants and thematic cafes, it is well worth the staycay even with its crazy room prices. The room is however falling short of the high expectations the name brings. The greatest feature is the spiral staircase but it's overall design lacks careful consideration for safety and character. The stairs is a safety hazard, so be careful your head when you need to make coffee at the bar. There are way too many standing lights but not a single painting on the wall to soften the room. The TV is a modest flatscreen that is carelessly chuck underneath a hanging bright light. The service is nonetheless top notch as I would have expected from a world class Marriott chain. Overall great experience but could have been perfect with some improvements.

My stay here was equal parts exceptional and comical. Firstly the service - it’s amazing. What a great team. Friendly, attentive, remember your name Food and beverage is great. They make a really delicious espresso martini Location is super cool. A lot to see, do and eat around the neighbourhood. The aesthetic is on point and as you’d expect from the pictures. However, it’s a heritage building which has been renovated, so expect a few things to be a bit rough around the edges. For example - when I unplugged my device from the wall socket, the whole covering came with it. Some of the soft furniture was warped in the bathroom. All up - 5/5 stay despite the little aesthetic things.

Booked a suite to celebrate my hubby’s birthday. Was impressed with the layout and aesthetics of the hotel. There were some stains on the sofa though I managed to clean them up using wet wipes. Room service was very responsive to our needs though and delivered the extra items we asked for very promptly unlike some hotels who take forever. The food served was exceptional. Breakfast was delicious and very filling. The suite allows access to the executive lounge at the nearby Maxwell reserve hotel and we had afternoon nibbles and evening cocktails there which had great ambience and served excellent food. Would like to specially give a thumbs up to Leigh, the restaurant manager at yellow pot, who was attentive to our needs and always so friendly. She remembered my hubby ordered flat white coffee the previous day and automatically gave him a cup even though we did not order it the next day. One of the best boutique hotel experiences we had. We left with many great memories. Thank you!

What an amazing experience staying at the beautiful Duxton Reserve after many visits to Singapore. No bellman standing outside in the hot humidity but it wasn't an issue because a few steps I entered pure luxury. The front office and management staff rushed to help me with our bags. The friendly attentive service made us feel special and appreciated. The food and beverage serivice was exceptional because of the attentive service for all staff members. The fun atmosphere and excellent service from all staff members is the main reason I'll be back again! Thanks to ALL the staff that made our stay very special and fun!!! 🙏

I cannot say enough about this hotel. First off, the staff are wonderful, from the front desk team to the bartenders. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and an easy walk from many different train lines to connect you anywhere in the city. I wish I remember everyone’s name that helped us during our stay but I remember Nadia for her kindness throughout! Thank you all for providing top level service.

Looking at the exterior of the building design I am already impressed...the guest room design was neat and contemporary and I love it...although I would wish the windows can be larger and the wall power outlet would have been more accessible (the room that I was in had the power outlets blocked by bed frame...had to moved the heavy bed myself)...but I was very satisfied with the hotel staff upon checking in and wait staff at breakfast... everyone was super friendly and chatty...made me feel at home...I have to say their service was top notch...location was also very convenient with shops and restaurants all around...would certainly be back...Highly Recommended.

Most people giving top ratings are not staying in the hotel just the instagrammable lobby I suppose. I just checked in, the room has barely any lights (well there are many but it is so deemed), it’s not a even that clean (stains on the pouch, dusty carpet). Avoid especially if you are planning to work for a few days. Friendly staff.

The rooms are very small and very poorly soundproofed. Incessant music, all night long, from neighboring rooms or from the street ruined the whole stay. And not to mention the breakfast that you can't take because it's served too late. Very disappointed

I have had the worst first experience at your hotel. Ashleigh was the rudest customer personnel I have ever experienced. She hung up on me after not trying to resolve my issue. She would be the downfall of your hotel. Completely unacceptable and ridiculous. I would like the gm manager who manages the hotel to contact me please.

My wife and I decided on a Saturday night whim to book two nights at this property. Not cheap, we booked the Pearl Suite at $900 per night. Checked in Saturday evening. On Sunday morning less then 12 hours after check in we were advised our daughter was ill and we needed to return home immediately. We went down to reception and explained our plight. Front of house reception insisted they could not refund our second night stay because we hadn’t cancelled within 48 hours. This despite the fact we had only checked in 12 hours prior which means their terms for cancellation simply were not valid. Nonetheless I asked for a point of escalation and was told front of house was the most senior person on staff so there was no one we could talk to. We accepted the offer of an e-mail address for whom we could escalate our issue. The escalating manager refused our circumstances and insisted there would be no refund. What did we get then for $1,800 - one nights sleep and breakfast the next morning. This is disgraceful, and totally forgives the fact we are loyal members of the Marriott Bonvoy program. As an aside to this the sofa in our room, room 12, had stains in three different locations and the breakfast was of poor quality and expensive compared to most locations in Singapore. Our recommendation is don’t stay here. They are disingenuous in applying the terms of your stay and the quality of the hotel does not permit them to charge the premium rates they do. We’d recommend; Marina Bay Sands, Fullerton Group, Capella and many other hotels at this price point over this poor attempt at a boutique hotel. The management team who will no doubt attempt a poor defense of this should be ashamed of themselves - you have zero respect for our family values and that is about the worst thing I could say to you. Clean your hotel and clean up your act!

The Duxton is absolutely gorgeous!! One of our favorite hotels on our 5 month adventure through Southeast Asia. The style, decor, everything is stunning and very unique. We were fortunate to get upgraded since my husband is a Marriott Ambassador and Wow! The room was beautiful. I could live in it! The location is great & right in the heart of a ton of great restaurants & award winning cocktail bars. Two staff members stood out to us- Shri & Leigh. Leigh took excellent care of us in the lobby bar, as well as, in Yellow Pot. Shri took great care of us in the lobby bar & my husband loved his espresso martinis! We spent one evening enjoying the quiet atmosphere of the lobby bar while playing cards. Also, the food options (small bites) they offer there were delicious! My only negative I had for the whole hotel was the hair dryer is one of those that you have to hold the button in the whole time to keep it running. The hair dryer was at least an upgraded style but it’s not easy to hold that button on the whole time. Regardless, anyone would be lucky to stay here. -Traci & Jeff

We at First Rate have always preferred the Duxton Reserve Singapore, Autograph Collection. The staff is very cordial- addressed all our requirements of rooms, date flexibility. We also hosted an informal networking session at the Bar where we received impeccable service, food and drinks. It's the perfect Business Hotel, and we'll always come back!

Duxton is a very old house that has been renovated. It’s a very charming place in middle of Chinatown with an access to the MRT It’s perfect if you are alone and redeem a Marriott voucher for a night of transit. Standard rooms are VERY small. I was upgraded as Ambassador in a “suite” (a little bigger) but nothing crazy We are far from American standards Service is perfect and very VIP everywhere I didn’t like that they lied at booking about the lounge : there is NO lounge and you have to go to their sister hotel two streets away The hotel is pretty noisy for sleeping as walls are in paper and bathrooms are still pretty old. The street is noisy with bars and your window is in front at level 1 or 2 Breakfast is a la carte and mostly Asian (dim sum or eggs) : average and they serve Tropicana instead of “fresh squeeze juice” (an other lie 😒) Would I return : maybe but only alone and to redeem a 50k miles night

Yes 2 stars, and I was consciously aware that this is counter to the same 4.5 star rating that brought me here. 1) they hired a fabulous photographer. In fact, this photographer probably works for those IG and Hollywood types - makes everything look better than it is. 2) referencing #1, the rooms are compact. Good for a solo but two,? unless you’re prepared to do hand to hand combat for those minor essentials like closet space and bathroom privacy. 3) Customer service : well, as long as you don’t mind that they’re not attending calls or the WhatsApp number they provided , it’s all good. Actual shout out to Nelson in the restaurant. 4) but should you actually mind and want to speak to management, forget it. They are unresponsive as in - nowhere to be found, and i waited, and waited, and called, and waited. 5) please bring timers. You’ll need to time your showers as the hot water begins to run out after approximately 5-6 mins. Found out midway through a shower myself. 6) it’s not for business travelers. As in DO NOT BOTHER TO GO. 7) while there’s not a gym on site, you’ll still get a quick workout from the extra stairwells to get to some of your rooms. You’ll see, so I won’t spoil the fun. It’s cute. In summary, it is most definitely a beautifully adorned and well situated hotel. However, it most definitely requires a more on hands management team to oversee the well-meaning staff.

This is a great place to stay! Beautiful rooms with so much history! The customer service was the best we’ve had in a long time. The food and drinks are excellent. We loved our stay at the Duxton Reserve! We will definitely go back!

Almost everything about this hotel is exceptional. The location is choice, putting you right in the middle of dozens of restaurants and walking distance to the Marina Bay. The service was great and very attentive. What really differentiates this hotel is their fruit juice, made on site. We tried almost all of them and were very refreshing after a hot day exploring the city. The only thing I was not a fan of were the bathrooms, specifically the shower. The water intentionally floods half the bathroom floor and is not enclosed. Yes, this is trendy, but frankly it is more annoying than anything. Overall, a great experience.

Check-in - no assistance from any concierge, and when you have stairs to navigate with your bags, the humidity, makes check-in not the best experience. Room Sizes - way too small for 2 people travelling internationally, and I have cupboards bigger than these rooms. Why you would put a pillar post bed in such a small room, just made the room feel smaller, plus why you would put railings around a bed, meaning you can only get out at the foot of the bed, is beyond a design fault for a designer, especially if you have mobility issues. Bed - why you have a plastic filled mattress topper that makes so much noise when you get in and out of bed, only to wake your partner up every time, is beyond confusing and annoying. Club Lounge access - not really a club, when its in the main foyer area, and then to be told we only have 5 drinks per person. Coffee - I can't believe you don't have a coffee machine in your foyer, but i get told to go across the road to 711 to get a coffee. Drinks and food - all of this was lovely and the service was great. Check Out - again no concierge to assist put luggage into vehicle, and when are an international traveller, we had a lots of bags. Overall a very disappointing stay at this property, and we have stayed at plenty of hotels in Singapore that were a lot cheaper, and gave us bigger rooms, more facilities, and better offerings. You are over priced, and you under deliver!

It looks so CHIC!!. Very tasteful design from outside to every corner of the hotel. Beautiful furniture and wallpaper. I love the dark chinese design. Such beauty. The rooms r a little smaller, thats because they r in a historical building. This hotel should be what a poster child of designer hotel. Completely blown away. Thank you Adrienne for your customer service and welcome.

One of the only true 5 stars experience out there. The staff is what makes this place one of the best Hotel I've had the chance to stay. The location couldn't be better, and will provide everything at a walking distance. Drinks, food, and the rooms are just perfect in every way possible. It just feels like home.

Fantastic 1 night stay (wish i had longer]. The staff here are truly amazing, would have to be the best hotel staff experience I have encountered in Singapore. Big shout out to Leigh (probably spelt wrong) working the restaurant / bar, she did a great job very attentive and I was always addressed by my name. Food and drinks here were great and the executive rooms have a great concept of drinks and snacks at the bar. Quality was very high. Nice location too.

I had a fantastic experience at the cafe and restaurant inside Duxton Reserve Singapore, Autograph Collection. The soft music created a perfect atmosphere for work, and the friendly waiters made me feel right at home. The decor's contemporary Chinese cultural inspiration was elegant and meticulously detailed. The subdued lighting set the tone for relaxation or productive laptop time. This place exceeded all my expectations for a cozy and stylish environment.

Top notch luxury hotel in stylish and vintage location consisting of traditional buildings filled with restaurants, cafe, and bars. Make the area quite photogenic. Very convenient and close to MRT. The hotel is very elegant and polished from lobby to corridor to the room. It's also has heritage history for Marriott property. Most important of all, excellent services and seamless check in and out process.

Unique. Whether you sit in the outdoor area, the lobby or the bar, you will be transported to a relaxed and yet vibrant state of mind. Jazmine at the front desk was very helpful. Opium Rooms are small and suitable for solo travellers or couples but have a beautiful design. Location is simply perfect. Surrounded by some of the finest bars and restaurants. Easy to get to any part of the city and the airport. Beautifully maintained by most efficient management. Their other properties are special too - The Vagabond Club & Maxwell Reserve.

The location and hotel are beautiful but they have a serious mold problem. I had some of the worst asthma attacks I’ve ever had. They tried to move my room and the mold seemed to be worse each time. They said they have to clean it a lot. I had to checkout because I just couldn’t breathe and I was unable to get a refund even as a Titanium member of Marriott

Thank you Duxton Reserve team for an incredible weekend getaway. The property works in tandem with its sister property Maxwell reserve to accommodate for all needs possible. It’s one of those rare gems in singapore which has a ‘can-do’ attitude. Vegetarian twist to the yellow-pots menu is a great plus. Stunning interiors and wonderful care is shown in looking after a heritage property. Few team members who stand out and need a mention: Amelia (the genie running the show) Aladdin (warm welcome from the start) and Keshav with lovely service.

US$500/ night on Opium Room 2 Designed by world renowned designer Anouska Hempel. Beautifully decorated hotel lobby and Bar/restaurant area. Opium Room 2 has in room bar set up for self prepared cocktails! Some observations- Unstable in room wi-fi connection. Shower drain was plugged upon arrival, repaired while we were told to be in our room. Time wasted while on holidays. Security safe inoperable upon arrival. Replaced while bathroom drain being repaired, again, time wasted while on holidays. Loose light bulbs in room resulted in flickering lighting. Only one pillow choices - feather filled, not enough support Insufficient storage chest and cloth hanging capacity for a 1 week stay. 2nd note, November 10th, after checked out Service- Hotel manager/concierge Hugo is an absolute delight to work with! Always there, always attentive with a smile! Would I stay here again? Probably not. I missed the big hotel amenities & better storage in room. For the same price, I could have gone to Ritz Carlton Millennium or Marina Bay Sands. Would I recommend this hotel to my friends? Definitely Yes! For a different experience in the non-hotel district. Especially for a shorter trip.

First Off - Our Duplex Suite smelled suspiciously as it had been affected by mold. Room dusty, housekeeping not up to standard. Not sure how long this hotel is operating, but could do with a bit of a refurb, carpets stained, all furniture and floors are scratched, water heater running out of hot water.... Staff try to be helpful but seem to a) lack knowledge and b) be hampered by rules the have to enforce onto the customer.

The hotel is Wonderful as a boutique hotel! As expected it's very Very clean and the location is great depending what are you going to do in Singapore. The staff is really nice and helpful as expected from a Autograph Marriott chain. Füzyon street makes you feel like you are in "old Singapore" A good luxurious hotel , with wired room structure

  • 4/5 Jean-Claude E. 1 year ago on Google
This hotel is not for everyone. Located in the Chinatown, the Duxton Reserve definitely has the feel of a 4* boutique hotel, with tons of cachet, both inside and outside. If this place is a former opium den and brothel, it definitely has a special atmosphere. My upgraded "Opium" room was "facing" back, which means quiet and no street noise. It is however minuscule to an almost problematic point, and the bath room is even tinier. Some people could feel claustrophic in this place. Quality bedding and amenities were up to the Marriott standard. Breakfast good, though a bit rigid. You get a choice of what's on offer on the menu, everything else extra. Location is convenient for those looking to discover Chinatown, although the Marina Bay is a solid walk away. Parking situation is problematic if you drive a car, street side parking and the adjacent small municipal parking get full fast due to the concentration of restaurants. I found an affordable solution in the Fraser tower a short 10 minute walk away, 4$ per entry per 24 hour. Duxton Reserve is a welcome and charming change from the cookie-cutter feel of Westins and Marriotts, but some may find it too quirky.

One of the rare hotels that deserves a 5 stars for a perfect experience. The interior design is cosy, relaxing and every angle is a photo. The service is amazing from the staff, where there's an effort to remember guest names.

Great surprise after staying 5 nights at the Pickering, I thought nothing would amaze me more but I was wrong. This hotel is charming, beautiful, great room and the best thing was the service! Both main desk and concierge were above and beyond accommodating our asks and helping us with things that usually we do see! Well done!
