Recently visited Zion Riverside Food Centre for lunch and tried dishes from a number of highly raved stalls over the social media. Here are my thoughts 1. No. 18 Zion Road Fried Kway Teow A queue that doesnt seems to move. It does not have the taste of “wok hey” and tasted average. Not worth the long queue. - 3/10 2. Zion Road Big Prawn Noodle Soup was decent, not too sweet. The portion in the photo below cost $20. - 6/10 3. Boon Tong Kee Kway Chap Expect another long queue. The kway chap was surprisingly quite salty. Duck meat was decent but overall, felt that it could be better at the price point. Portion for 2, $17.80/- - 5/10 4. Ah Wang La Mian Xiao Long Bao If you have tried Alexandra Village steamed dumplings with chilli oil, you will be disappointed with this. - 4/10 Will i make a special trip just to try the foods at Zion Riverside Food Centre? Probably no.

Having my lunch @ Zion Riverside Food Centre. Having “white style” fried white carrot cake (Choy Tau Kou or Lor Pak Kou in Cantonese). Unfortunately, in Singapore this means a crispy styled preparation. If I want the texture akin to that we find in KL, I need to go with the “black style”. For me, I dislike it as the “black” comes from the use of “kicap manis” (sweet thick soy sauce) and I prefer my food savoury rather than sweet. So no win situation when having this dish in Singapore. I only order this food item at this one stall in Zion Road called “Lou Goh”. The proprietor is hard of hearing and usually reads lips to understand the order. In these Covid times, with masks on, he needs another helper to take the orders for him. Kudos to him for persevering and conquering the challenges placed before him. It’s a decent if not exactly very tasty plate but I feel his efforts are worth supporting and the food good enough to have a simple meal. Support our local hawkers!!! @whiskydev

Finally visited this hidden gem tucked beside Great World, by the river. Was researching what to eat here and was recommended to mainly the Char kway tiao, duck rice, prawn noodles and carrot cake. I have reviewed them separately in their own listing, adding a brief summary here for ease of reference: Char Kway Tiao - 5 ⭐️- One of the cleanest ones I have ever eaten, not oily at all and still taste/smell as great Duck rice - 4 ⭐️- Superbly fragrant rice, the remaining of which was good and not outstanding

Busy food centre next to Singapore River and Zion Road. There is a good variety of food options such as fried kway teow, prawn noodles, duck rice, fishball noodles, Malay and Indian food stalls, local drinks and desserts; sufficient to provide a good representation of popular Singapore dishes.

After searching for a good place to have prawn noodles, I zeroed in on Zion food center. However, when I reached there, the first stall I spotted was the fishball noodles. I switched to that. It was okay but nothing memorable. The desert was similar. Colorful but not flavourful.

The food center is very clean. Some of the food stand accept we chat pay and other electronic payment. However, others accept cash only. The food there are very yummy with reasonable price! Rush Hour will be 12:00-13:30 due to the nearby office lunch break. You need more time to find a seat and queue longer times to order food. I highly recommend the fried kaw teow! You must try ! If you like spicy food 🥰 For the drinks, I recommend the sugar can juice with lemon! You can take MRT get off at the Grand world station! Very convenient! 乾淨整潔舒適的用餐區域! 想用平價的米其林美食!

one of our ultimate favourite hawker centres, as it is spacious, well-ventilated, and has a large variety of food! some of our favourite stalls are the house of soya bean (for cooling and refreshing drinks and desserts), fried rice, chicken rice and the fried bee hoon! the uncles and aunties are always very friendly and quick with our orders. we definitely recommend eating here if you’re in the area for a taste of singapore!

Some stalls still not opened for business when we walked in at 10am for breakfast. Although not busy, but stand queueing up at the stall to order ,pay and wait to collect your food is tiring. Could be better if all the stalls have the system of taking orders, collect payment, give a number buzzer ,allow customers to take their seat, then buzz when food is ready since its self service. Some might still wish to order other food/drinks from another stall. Prefer the kueh chap sauce not starchy !! Caution : Expect to pay a Fine if you do not clear your own table before you leave!!!!

This is definitely one the best less known to tourist hawkers in Singapore. Despite it being a Saturday, it was surprisingly quite empty. Weather was extremely hot but the hawker was well ventilated with many fans. There are many popular and award winning stalls here. Do note that quite a few stalls may be closed for lunch (I assume some are early morning stalls) but thankfully the ones I wanted to try were available. The options we went for 2 pax - char kway teow, duck rice and prawn noodles. All were very good. For someone who doesn’t quite eat char kway teow, this was extremely addictive. There was a nice char and the each mouthful has a generous amount of egg in it which made it very satisfying. Overall very pleased with the visit. Obviously there’s a lot of carbs in this meal so definitely not something I would have daily but an enjoyable occasional cheat meal.

One of the best food centres. Spacious, airy and well ventilated. Many popular stalls. A lot of delicious food, and good mix of food varieties. Nice ambience by the riverside. Now easily accessible by Thomson-East Coast line.

Quite a clean and well maintained food court, except for the automated kitchenware collection system which continuously makes loud noise when the plates and cutlery drop. Tasted the famous big prawn noodles, the broth is great, definitely worth a try, I hope I could have more soup! However, you need to expect a 30-45 mins queue during dinner hours, unless you reach after 8pm. Ordered the mix fried carrot cake (white and black). Expect to wait for 20 mins too. Personally I feel it's average, not a woah for me.

Zion Riverside Food Center is a great spot for inexpensive eats. The food is clean and delicious, offering a variety of options to choose from. However, it's worth noting that there's no air-conditioning, so it might be best to visit during cooler times of the day. Overall, a fantastic choice for a budget-friendly meal in a casual atmosphere.

Zion Hawker Centre and had a mixed experience. No. 18 Zion Road Fried Kway Teow, while decent, didn’t quite live up to its past reputation. The BBQ chicken wings were smaller compared to the ones at Bedok 85. The satay pork and chicken were satisfactory but didn’t stand out. On a positive note, the peanut paste was enjoyable. Overall, a moderate experience with room for improvement. 3.5 ⭐️

Great authentic food options for very affordable prices. We could have eaten here every day! Just be sure to clear your table and return your tray, they're serious about that.

Bustling yet maintained well, floor and tables were clean. I used to try the fried kuaytiao but it’s not really up to my liking. My husband who grew up in the neighborhood also said the dish is losing the taste, not as good as how it used to be. So i went there myself and tried the duck rice, and that IS good! Tried the yam rice, oh my oh my it deserves the crowd

One of the popular food hawkers in Singapore to find good local cheap hawker food. Very famous Zion Road Fried Kway Teow is here, where you'll pretty much have to queue for a while to get your food. We passed by at 5.30 pm and there was already a queue. When we came back at 7.30 the queue was still just as long. We joined the queue and waited for about 40 minutes before we got our food, and throughout the entire time the queue never went down. The fried kway teow is great. Definitely worth the wait, and portion size is actually big for the price.

Great hawker Center beside the river. Surprised that there were seats during lunch hours, which is a good sign. Tried the food king good carrot cake and wonton Mee. Both are better than average. Was mind-blown by the carrot cake taste at first, but thought it was jelat as we continued eating. Queue was quite long for carrot cake, expect 15 mins. Wanton Mee not bad, have a variation of fried and dry wanton. Soup was good. If you are wondering why their drink stalls are long queue, not because it’s good or special, it’s because one person is mending the whole stall. Queued for sugar cane longer than for wanton Mee. Ps. A lot of OLs and OMs come here. Avoid if you don’t want to meet your colleagues or your ex classmates who are working around the area.

We came here on for dinner on a Saturday and many stalls were closed. We bought fried Hokkien prawn noodles and oyster omelette from this stall. The noodles have very good "wok hey" and the omelette has plenty of oysters. Very happy with our meal!

Visited the Xiao long bao stall. The chilli wantons were amazing and Xiao long bao was decent. Very fresh, saw the team making them in front of my eyes. The sweet and sour noodles were a miss for me.

Went down quite early, around 10.30 and it wasn’t crowded but there were tourists and the elderly. Overall, it was quite a chill place but not many stores were open since it was still early. Will consider going down again to try out other food, maybe the bkt. Kway Chap - price point is higher than other places but tastes pretty good XLB - juicy and soup, might be better than some hawkers

Great place! Just walk the booths, pick your meal, wait a few minutes, pick it up and enjoy. Prices mainly range 4-10 S$ and I got never disappointed. Be careful: The soy sauce with the chili bits offered at various booths is a killer! :-)

You must visit here, there are so many choice food stall with affordable price, i love the Kwee Tiauw. Located in riverside, great view and atmosphere. Easy to reach with public transport.

The food there is very nice and you will be surprised that the portion given is reasonable and some of them the price is cheaper than your neighbourhood hawker centre. Not necessary that food in the city is expensive. Give it a try. Parking space is limited.

24Jan 2024 - The Zion Riverside Mixed Veg economical rice stall offers a selection of fresh dishes for lunch at a reasonable price, although some stalls in other areas may be slightly cheaper. Today, I opted for the fried mala pork slices and fried omelette. The portions were adequate and the flavors delightful. The total cost for both dishes with rice was $2.90.

I was hoping to find some authentic traditional hawker food here but was a disappointment. I ordered and waited for over 30 mins for white carrot cake, fried kuay teow, satay and chicken wings and no way they were even close to what I wanted with old school common hawker food. All were below average and the better one is the chicken wings but from my taste bud it's not fresh.

I had the char kway tiao which had a really long waiting time (~30 minutes) . Honestly it tasted alright (there were tons of cockles and dark soy sauce in it) but I wouldn't have it again if I had to wait for such a long time Besides the char kway tiao I also had the bbq chicken wings and satay. The satay tasted normal but the chicken wings were terrible. It was not well seasoned and overly dry.

So many delicious stalls here! Old brand, but all good taste. Wow I love the strong Wok Hei taste and the crispy pork oil in this kway teow! Very thick soy sauce taste. One of the most authentic signature Singapore fried kway teow!

Many good food choices here. 1)No. 18 Char Kway Teow, long queues during office lunch hours. Crispy lard cubes provided. 2) Fried Hokkien Mee, dry version, also lard cubes given

Took a bus to the boys bridgae stop and walked over. Seems that the mrt still got to walk quite a bit. Dinner time is good as sunset could be caught from the canal beside. Place is airy, pretty clean and many tables. There are tv too. Super long q mention Char kuay teow Prawn noodles soup Near dinner time, other stalls start to have q forming. Best eat ... satay but long long q and meat not too hot. V tasty however. Will not try again: fried Hokkien mee. With awards and tv showing the process. But ... ... no seafood taste, no wok hei, to the extend of bland.

My go-to place whenever I crave for some duck rice, wan ton noodles, nasi padang, prawn mee, char kuey teow, western food, fishball soup or economy rice. A wide range of drinks are available too from refreshing sugar canes to local oh-so-comforting coffee and beers. I like that this food court isn't too big and that it is well maintained, clean and ventilation is extremely good (thanks to the windy area!). It's nice that it is located next to the river as well..

Came here around 9pm plus, most stalls already closed for the day. Luckily this stall still open managed by an elderly couple. Fried hokkien Mee has some wok hei. Taste wise not too bad, with big prawns. Oyster omelette is just so so, at least not too starchy. Oyster are of small size.

  • 4/5 Ritchie L. 1 year ago on Google
Stalls serve good food and are generally nice and friendly. Staff in-charge of the tray return stations are generally rude, but nothing to complain about so long as they do their job.

If it is a rainy day and you are craving for something hot and steamy, do try this stall prawn soup noodles and if you are lucky you might see crab lined up on the display counter. Die die must order 1 to try, slightly pricy but top quality crab 👍 Avoid coming on a monday as it will be closed.

A gem by the river, offers a vibrant atmosphere and several delicious food stalls. Its most famous stall is probably "Uncle Lim's Fried Kway Teow," which serves famous char kway teow. However I love the ban mian stall which is both tasty and QQ, and they serve some great dumplings too
