I had a good experience today at Alexandra hospital. The move to digitalisation is real and effective. No need to queue up at physical counter to register and pay. Instead of queuing at pharmacy, should use the one Nuhs app to order medication, comes with free delivery to your door step. No need to pay at counter. Pay via app. No duplicate word on bill invoice, easy to claim from insurer. Insurer should be more flexible la. Times have changed. I mobile registered so no need to go to counter to take queue number. Self service kiosk came in handy since its one queue number across the entire hospital. Can register at any kiosk. Overall good experience in AH . Not too crowded.. Managed to get an early appointment slot as I book my appointment through the app. And helped my mother manage her appointments with the caregiver access on the onenuhs app.. Love the new app! Thanks Nuhs! Best employer for 2022

I was a patient at this hospital for several months, being amongst the few younger patients there as most are elderly. The hospital is in a fantastic location with superb transportation links and beautiful scenery. Its grounds' beauty and serene nature greatly help with rehabilitation and relaxation. Their food, however, is terrible in taste and bland out of saving costs. I've been to other public hospitals who have far better food. The doctors, therapists, and most nurses are professional and friendly. Some nurses seem inexperienced and there are quite a few of them who appear disgruntled most probably due to low pay, some even having taken out their frustration verbally on patients and their families at times. Other nurses are incredibly kind and supportive of your recovery though, going the extra mile to try and assist your recovery. Overall, I'm quite happy with this hospital but there certainly is a lot of room for improvement.

Went to emergency department during pandemic for stomach pain. Waiting time was acceptable. Doctors and nurses were professional. Stayed for a few hours for observation and was discharged with medicine. Of all the government hospitals this is probably the one with the shortest waiting time.

I was here for A&E twice before. First time was in May 2013 when I fractured and dislocated my right elbow due to a fall. The doctor on duty was able to locate my elbow to the right position while I was given general anesthesia. The whole treatment took 1 month as I had to wear a cast for 2 week, then undergo physiotherapy for my right elbow. My 2nd time here was in July 2015. I had uncontrollable vomiting at night, cannot sleep and totally no appetite. Found that I had food poisoning. Was given the drip and observed overnight at the A&E. During my period there, I found the doctor and nurses professional and caring. There were not much people when I visited, both late at night. Hence the waiting time wasn't long. Around 30-45mins. Also just to share, I was also born at this hospital.

My elderly mother was warded in ward 5 Bed 1 between 11 August and 14 August 2023. I would say the nurse were very helpful and really show care and concern to the patients. The doctors also keep us up to date on my mother conditions. This is first class treatments although my mother was warded in class C ward. To doctors and nurse in Alexandra Hospital, you are really great and many thanks to you all.

All that I can say is that I entered the hospital feeling confused about my condition and left the same way. Initially, doctor insisted to prescribe medication without checking the source of the bleeding and discharge me afterwards. As a patient, I did not feel reassured or safe to go home taking an assortment of pills that may or may not work. I asked if it was possible for the attending doctor to check the source of the bleeding to see if thereโ€™s any infection. He agreed. He also ordered an ECG and X-Ray after I voiced my concerns and I was made to wait afterwards. They also made me wait next to a patient who was tested ART positive, I was told to sit here for hours even though I tested ART negative. After a considerable amount of time spent waiting in the triage, I was then told I could leave. I did not see the doctor to discuss the results of the X-Ray and ECG results. Medications were handed and I was unsure of how to take them and what they were for. Thinking back, perhaps it would have been better to visit the GP instead?

Disappointing place. Our friend was hospitalized for a week. Several junior Drs attended her and they couldn't figure out her issues. The nurse caused her additional infection which extended the problem for weeks. They scheduled and charged for 2 min phone call about diabetes 115Sgd. A phone call! Private hospitals specialists charged less than this for in-person visits. Below average hospital. General hospital is a more professional place to go.

Surely the standard of specialists and doctors are not meeting expectation. I was passed from one doctor to another and there was no proper diagnosis after a long 6 month with Alexandra Hospital. Subsequently I visited a private practice where I was diagnosed and treated. No doubt the ambience at Alexandra Hospital is great, surrounded by greenery, serene and slow pace. But what patient need is proper diagnosis and treatment. The doctors here are young and inexperienced. ENT is the worst among all.

Waste of time and money. I've never met a doctor who "can't answer" most of the questions posed, didn't bother to probe even when he acknowledged the manifestations of the symptoms were "puzzling" and advised me to Google the diagnosis he made. The specialist didn't ask pertinent questions about what the actual symptoms were before making the diagnosis and once he decided to send me to another doctor, basically just shut down. So I had to wait 2 weeks to see someone who couldn't wait to just get me out the door. Consult was just a few minutes each time (before and after x-ray), and there was NO ONE waiting in line outside. It was longer because I asked questions myself (which went unanswered). Doctor seemed uninterested in treating patient and averse to answering questions. Couldn't, or wouldn't, give advise on what not to do to not aggravate the problem, and even suggested I do one of the things that actually causes the problem to manifest itself! If my problem doesn't fall under his discipline, the referral system could have been better. But wow, his attitude is underwhelming, discouraging and doesn't reflect well on the hospital or the public health system. And Alexandra Hospital, please fix your faulty payment kiosks. Also, I'm still waiting for a call back about a referral that was meant to be to NUH but was scheduled for AH instead. It would be nice if someone would explain why the change ASAP instead of making the queue for the appointment an even longer one because you messed up.

Stayed here for 2 nights for dengue fever. The nurses are very caring and kind. The doctors are very nice, they talked to me every day about my condition. Stayed in the isolation ward as the normal wards were full. The room is comfortable. There is a good selection of meal provided. Overall pleasant experience of staying in AH. Truly grateful for the doctors and nurses taking good care of me during my stay here.

Many young doctors from NUS being recruited to do their medical profession in the hospital. Some of them quite yaya want to show off that they think they are very smart. While I met some who are humble and patient young doctors. My 1 star review is because I encountered a very rude doctor. She is a young doctor who i believe is only in the 20s. Cannot take the pressure of working in such high demand environment, please change your profession. Being rude don't bring the image right not only for the hospital, but image of the country's medical system.

I was transferred from NUH A&E on 27 Oct 22 due to no bed available. The attending Dr promised me that the Drs at Alexander hospital are professional and will give good treatment. Trusting that Dr's statement blindly i agreed for the transferred but I only encountered bad experience with Drs. No proper treatment or investigation done. I need to repeat my medical condition to all oncoming drs. Even consultant Dr failed on update the outcome as each time i need to ask around. Only painkillers were advised by the dr to take if i got no more pain. I was just eating and sleeping. I came for treatment or for vaccination? Only for these my medisave were paid? I m still having my pain. Whom can i address this problems or give an explanation? I m feel more stressed n disappointed. I need update?

I want to thank Dr. Chin Kher Young, on duty doctors (I missed their names) and all staffs on duty in 24hours urgent care centre, who provided top notch medical treatment and services for my mum. This is the best-of-the best experience we ever had in a hospital by far. Right from registration, attention by triage nurses, observation area, doctor treatment, nurses caring, payment process until pharmacy counter, it was pleasant experience. We were touched by the sincerity, caring and family-alike treatment by all staffs who interacted with us. My mum couldn't stop to throw accolades for doctors and nurses even on her way home. Special thanks to Dr. Chin Kher Young who provided great consultancy for us patiently and professionally (I would rate him beyond 200%). THANK YOU ALEXANDRA HOSPITAL ๐Ÿ’

Wife came for an appointment and as she is a nursing mother she had to bring our baby along. The staff refused to let the baby into the hospital so I ended up carrying the baby in the waiting area squeezing with other sick patients and in the hot weather for over 2 hours. Was also told by the staff thereโ€™s no nursing room or even a diaper changing facility in the premises. Is this really a hospital? *Noted reply from AH to my comments. Please donโ€™t use DORSCON Orange as excuse; it doesnโ€™t stop you from providing basic kid-friendly facilities within your premises. AH is established before COVID after all. Even if children are not allowed in, there will be mothers whoโ€™ll need the space, to express milk for example. By the way, it was your staff who suggested for us to wait at the main lobby. It was also your staff who suggested for my wife to nurse my kid in the toilet. Would you like to have your lunch in the toilet?

My review may change if the upcoming experience is better. I feel that the doctors stationed in Clinic J are not really meeting the expectations because there isn't any proper diagnosis done. I was given medicine for my migraine which didn't help much so I stopped taking it. During the followup, I was asked if I wanted the same medicine again without any proper diagnosis. No one knows what is the root cause to my migraine. The only good thing here is the nurses working at Diagnostic Imaging dept are very nice and up to standard. MRI process was smooth. Apart from there, the doctors need to work on their skills more.

Eye clinic doctor is not friendly and shows impatience during check up. When my mum is hesitant in making certain decisions, he does not give her assurance and even warn her that she has to bear the consequences for the decision she made. Does not shows professionalism and care for elderly patients as a doctor!

Dear Sir/Madam We are not surprised that our family is not the first to give sincere compliments to Nurse Poh Hoon and staff of AH Palliative care unit. The support we received from everyone in AH palliative care unit was amazing but particular mention goes to Nurse Poh Hoon in Ward 5. We honestly donโ€™t think we would have got through without her empathy, quick action and her positive attitude towards her patient and going the extra mile to care for my motherโ€™s needs. Our 84-year-old mother, Goh Peng Huay has been suffering from advanced dementia and other medical problems and has been cared for since her first admission in January 2021 in Alexandra Hospital. During all her 12 admissions (28 Jan 2021 to 31 Jan 2023) excluding her current stay, the staff were absolutely brilliant and treated my mum with so much respect, dignity, loving care and compassion. While credit is long overdue we still cannot hold back but to mention that on 3 Feb 2023, we messaged Nurse Poh Hoon, not knowing it was her day off, telling her our mother was very weak with low oxygen level & very high pulse rate. She did not hesitate to swing into action, coordinating with the doctor & her team of palliative nurses to arrange for the ambulance to fetch our mother to AH Urgent Care Centre (UCC). She also went beyond her call of duty to personally update doctors at UCC from her home. Our family cannot thank Nurse Poh Hoon enough for the respect and dignity our mother was shown, nothing was ever too much or troublesome for her. We will never forget how kind she has been to my ailing mother and me during this difficult time. Please convey our thanks and gratitude to this exemplary nurse who deserves the highest commendation. She has made AH proud and epitomises the qualities of a guardian angel without wings!

I took my elderly mum to Alexandra Hospital urgent care this morning . Wow! Just blown away by the high level of care and concern shown to her. From all the nurses attending to the doctor on duty, they were so professional in how they examined her, assessed her condition, giving the options for treatment and reassuring her constantly. Then the pharmacy - another fantastic experience! Very professional, friendly personalised service - taking care to explain in detail, and giving advice on how to manage the condition effectively. Payment was also smooth , getting personalised help to do the payments. Awesome team at AH- thank you so much !๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

I came to fill a prescription for my fatherโ€™s medicines and was absolutely impressed with the service!!! Itโ€™s like a 5-star hotel, except it was a hospital! From the staff whom I met at the entrance who gave me directions to the pharmacy; to the registration staff at the pharmacy; to the pharmacist who gave the medicines, and who told me to go ahead & pay while she photocopied the prescription & came to the cashier to return the prescription to me; to the cashier. Everyone was helpful, courteous & patient! Hats off and a BIG thank you to everyone at Alexandra Hospital!

Nice and quiet environment with fast responding service at the A&E. Was admitted due to severe allegic reaction to commercial cleaning products and was attended to immediately for my shortness of breathe when I reached the A&E. Nurses and doctor were very patient with me as I am afraid of needles. Was hospitalised in the hospital a few years ago too for stomach flu and the care given was good. The environment feels rustic. Less crowded and less overwhelming too which would be good for recovery. Generally, I felt that the staff are managing well as compared to the other medical staff in other hospital who may come across as being burnt out...

Concierge was proactive and helpful with providing directions and information on the shuttle services. The Urgent Care and Imaging team were professional, efficient, and friendly - I echo other reviewers who commented that they really felt taken care of. While the building is old (it is historic after all! ), it didn't feel lacking in capability or care for acute/ minor medical issues. Availability of food might be a problem but there's the good old vending machine that provides a simple quick meal. There's a Cheers outlet but that closes at 8:30pm. The hospital is currently undergoing some renovations and I see a cafe in the works so that may resolve the food issue in the future.

Was there yesterday for my medical appointment. Service level of staff was good though it was uneven (depending on the dept or section?). The nurses who attended to me were attentive & caring. The counter staff needs to improve their knowledge system (fortunately, a more senior staff was able to help me to resolve the payment issue). Doctors who attended to my medical issue were professional though I could probably get my treatment faster in a private hospital - medical care is really not for the average here in SG. What I was most impressed was that AH provided the customers with umbrellas when the weather turned bad! It was pushed out by their orderly!

There is a rustic cosy ambience at the hospital. Love the lush greenery and it feels more like a resort than medical facility. It's a pity there are few people to enjoy the grounds. The canteen is tucked in a quiet corner of the hospital and the ramen stall run by a young man is worth a try. Medical personnel are mostly warm and helpful when approached.

Yesterday took my husband to this hospital he had fever, stomach pain, body pains he had fever since 3.5 days ..we went to our local GP when he had fever ,GP told if fever continues for 1 more day to visit him he would reference for blood test, since the clinic was closed we directly went to Alexandra hospital there the doctor examined him and asked all symptoms After all that we were told blood test can't be done till fever continues for 5 days and did a X-ray fr mild back pain instead...we felt so helpless going to that hospital because the doctor never helped to improve condition and asked to continue course which our local GP gave after which course is extended, but condition of my hubby is still same..very bad experience at Alexandra the purpose for which we came due to side effects of tablets is still there wil never ever come back again to Alexandra not worth money and time.

(Translated by Google) We drove to the hospital because of dengue fever. The receptionists were friendly and after a short time the doctor had already time. He made a very competent impression and asked many questions to get a complete picture. Subsequently, some tests were carried out, i.a. a blood test, of which the result was not even 60 minutes. Most recently, we made an appointment in a specialized dengue clinic and explained the further procedure exactly. (Original) Wir sind aufgrund von Dengue Fieber in das Krankenhaus gefahren. Went to the A&E for feeling breathless. Was told to take a seat and wait, a nurse or doc I'm not sure we're standing there with full ppe but did not came to me when I took a seat. (She was right in front of where I'm sitting at that moment). Waited for a good long while until a nurse came and ask why am I here. And doc even ask question like why am i feeling breathless like excuse me isn't that your job to help me figure out? If I know why am I feeling breathless why would I still be here? Seriously would give 0 star if possible. Do not go unless you are sure that you are dying. And you can be sure that you can drop dead in front of them.

First visit; referred by polyclinic for ENT treatment. Interesting location, confusing building structure. ( However, blissful ambience). Thankfully, helpful staff and courteous assistance at all times. Clear communication, precise diagnosis, safety treatment. Hassle free appointment slot and easy payment.

Fever one and half day, kept taking panadol. Reach hospital 39.6 degree, waited for 3 hours for dengue result. Confirmed. And they ask to go home and continue to take panadol!!!! Doctor never even appear, just called on mobile and say "go home". Never explain that the fever will be days. Then when insisted to be admitted, doctor refused drip and never explain why. Estimated 4-8k for 5 days. Never explain why so ex on top of class C room charges. Scary.... hospital can anyhow like this?

This is for the ENT department. We have had an overall pleasant experience will other departments in AH but ENT is really the pits. The last time we spoke with a certain Dr Mark. The moment he picked up the phone for a regular teleconsult review, he rudely asked:โ€whatโ€™s the matter?โ€ Made a mistake in my motherโ€™s prescription and we had to chase the hospital down to give us a reply. Doctor then told us prescription was correct and similar to previous prescription. We checked again and noted that the dosage was significantly lower so called hospital again. When we asked if it was a mistake (which it obviously was), doctor replied :maybe. Maybe? Every teleconsult always takes hours to reach the doctor. So we asked for a FTF consult. Dr Mark disagreed and gave us a direct line to ENT department to call in for next appointment. Today is the next appointment. Called the whole morning. Hospital said system down. Called afternoon n ENT staff said this was supposed to be a FTF appointment! What a dreadful mess. They then said doctor will contact us in 10-20 min. One hour later and after more than 20 calls, we are still not able to reach the clinic. Minus stars for this department.

Brought my grandma to UCC this evening and she was transferred to the ward within 3 hours of reaching the UCC. I'm grateful for the care rendered to her at the UCC, improving her experience amidst her discomfort. Would like to specially mention UCC Staff Nurse Zoe, UCC counter staff and AH security guards who were at the visitor registration counter for their care, even going an extra mile for my family. Great work!

I had very good experience at the hospital. The staff from security, registration, team at the Urgent Care Ward, payment counter to the pharmacy were responsive, competent, patient and caring. I was served and seen within 10 mins upon my arrival. In the ward, I witnessed the medical team taking time to explain to a patient about her condition, and to pacify another patient who has dementia. After my discharge, phone calls were made to me for my next appointment to see a specialist, and also arrangement to deliver my medication to my home were done efficiently and promptly. Kudos to the management and staff for providing great healthcare to your patients. Thank you. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™‚

My dad was warded at AH and I witnessed how the nurses at Ward 4 had gone an extra mile caring for their patients. One of the nurses who had changed her uniform; already off duty, saw an elderly patient who got up from the hospital bed and needed help she quickly run to assist him. Her colleague could have done it but she just took the quick initiative. Another touching heart was a male nurse who was so patience towards an angry elderly patient who was marching up and down the ward and corridor, and slam his drawer for not being able to clear his bowels โ€˜cleanโ€™. I thought the nurse would be very busy and down but he still put on a smiling face when I told him to transfer my dad from the geri chair to the bed. Totally stature his professionalism. Another nurse taught me how to help my dad apply the eyes drop correctly and things to note caring for my dad. I just found that the nurses at AH were very different from other hospitals. They deserved a 10/10.

Chemical got into my child's eye, we rushed to A&E, after the treatment, the eye got worse & the pain was unbearable. We kept asking them several times why is it so. All they can say was due to the irrigation. Their working attitude was bad, kept talking & joking during the treatment & and sadly say, they are local chinese (in my experience foreign nurses take their job serious & in a professional manner). Doctor is also too young & inexperiened. My child suffered for the whole night because closing or opening the eye was terribly painful. We went to the eye specialist next day & got to know the eye got further damage & skin at the cornea tore badly. There are several negative feedbacks, I wonder if the MOH will be keen to look into this.

I was treated for 9 days here in September 25-October 2023. The service was very good...everyone was friendly, the nurses were doctors and everyone was professional, even though I was just a helper and used health insurance from my employer. but they did their best, really touched, this is very inversely proportional to the service at the Indonesian hospital where I am, they will differentiate between patients who only pay with insurance. may God bless everyone. and very grateful to the parties concerned, if I was given the opportunity to contact the doctor who was treating me at that time, I would like to ask for a reference letter for me to continue working in Singapore, I need it for feedback on Mom. Thank You

My wife, Kong Ah Mooi, called the Alex hospital pharmacy and also the reception, to ask whether she can renew her medication at the Alexandra hospital pharmacy. They checked her records and answered, Yes. But when I got there, they told me the medication can only be prescribed by a doctor and they can't dispense it to me. I am very disappointed and upset with this kind of service. Esp when I walked all the way there in the hot sun. Michael Lee

Inadequate. Imbeciles with โ€œDr.โ€ title. Cardio doctor treating heads. My wife is with risks in the head and tomorrow will be fourth day without neurologist or neurosurgeon to see her. No CT scan, no MRI, just waiting there on the bed, giving her chicken and rise. Disorganization and stupidity at its best . Advice โ€” donโ€™t go there.

AH ward 20 staff nurse on duty allowed visitor to visit at 3am to 6am and the visitor was talking at high volume disturbing the patients that needed rest in order to recover. My sis was unable to sleep due to rhe noise and ask for eyes mask n ears mask. The doctor Liao kept stopping me from finding out who the night duty staff were. That is serious neglience. Eventhough the visitor is a ex gangster. AH staff nurse still have to stop him from visiting or restrict him to 10mins n ask him to lower his volume.

On 7Feb2021 at noon time, I visited my friend who was admitted to Wd 12 Bed 15, Alexandra Hospital. My friend was very weak and drowsy when Nurse Ms Tang Huei Chin was feeding him porridge. Ms Tangโ€™s caring services rendered to the patient really impressed me. Her good inter-personal skills to encourage the patient finish his meal and interact with her deserves special mention. Seeing Ms Tang served with passion and enjoyed doing her work, I can rest assured that my friend will be in the best possible care during his stay at the hospital. Thank you!, Alexandra Hospital

World class service! I have been to many hospitals in Singapore and overseas, and my visit here through their emergency department is so warm and feel like home. Their staffs, nurses and doctors have been so caring and attentive. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staffs, nurses and doctors who had attended to me. I would like to tell them I miss this place and I miss them all. Although they do not have the facilities to provide me the medical procedure that I need in this hospital. They help me arrange to be admitted to another hospital including transport, bed, registration and documentation. They ensure that the bed at another hospital is ready available before they transport me there. During this short waiting time in Alexandra hospital, I have been provided a world class service with comfort bed, attentive and caring nurses and doctors and also have a wonderful lunch provided. I really can't tell you all the good things in this Alexandra hospital in words. Only when you come here you will experience it yourself. I really hope that they can have the medical procedure provided in this Alexandra hospital so that I can come here for all my treatments.

I was admitted through A&E on 5th Sept as I was experiencing excruciating pain on my right thigh. I was in Class A ward and the staff and nurses were attentive, friendly and professional. I had my X-ray which turned out fine and was diagnosed by doctors and PT, as suffering from MSK. However, as I was not totally convinced, I requested to be reviewed by Ortho and also to get a MRI scan since I was already in the hospital. But was told I need to wait for days or weeks to secure an Ortho appointment. So I decided to get myself discharged on the 7th Sept as my pain is now more manageable. I am seeing the Ortho at NUH on the 13th Sept.

My brother in law was admitted two nights ago through the A&E as he was experiencing debilitating pain that made it hard to walk and sit up. Was a class A patient, fully conversant in English so communicating with hospital staff would not be an issue. Yet his experience at AH was one that fell short in terms of clarity and diagnosis from the medical team. No Xrays or scans were done and diagnosis of "pulled muscle" and "MSK" (disorder?) was arrived at based purely on the patient's self-report. The ward doctor decided that orthopedic examination was not necessary. The physiotherapist did not order any scans or set up PT exercise sessions. The patient was discharged with many questions unanswered.

Very friendly and helpful staff, as can be expected from a professional hospital. The staff members care deeply about the patients, asking me about my circumstances. Close to a bus stop, but the staircase entrance (from the bus stop) is a bit obscure, so watch out for that.

First time visit to AH in my 10 yrs living in Singapore. Never heard of this hospital before. One of my local friends referred me to go and see the doctor there regarding my lipoma surgery. My experience is that all the doctors and nurses that I have met are friendly and caring. Since it is public hospital, the cost of admission and consultation fees are more reasonable than those at private and you are getting the same quality of services and care in return while paying less.

I wanted to share my observations regarding the doctors from NUS who have been recruited to practice at the hospital. While I have encountered some doctors who exhibit a commendable level of humility and patience, there have been instances where others seem inclined to showcase their intelligence in a less than approachable manner. I believe that diversity in experiences and personalities among medical professionals is natural, and I appreciate the varying approaches each doctor brings to patient care. However, it would be beneficial to foster an environment where all doctors prioritize empathy and effective communication, irrespective of their background or alma mater. I share this feedback with the intention of contributing to the continuous improvement of the hospital's overall patient experience. Thank you for your attention, and I trust that steps will be taken to maintain a positive and patient-centric atmosphere within the medical team.

PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THIS HOSPITAL!!! I've been under alot of stress due to the hospitals management. Although I've repeatedly informed them my issue, no one have yet to offered to help resolve my problem and its been taking a toll on me and I'm tired of trying to get my message to them and getting zero response. I have zero support from this hospital even though my family members are/were patients under this hospital. I'm utterly dissapointed by their service.
