I never post reviews of anything but this place was so ridiculous that I just had to. I had an appointment at around 8am and ended waiting for 3 hours and longer to see the doctor. I understand if this is the case for walk in polyclinic visits but for a place with appointments set months and weeks in advance prior to the visit is appalling if anything. also somehow I suspect that half of the good reviews are fake because honestly I agree with all the other 1 star comments. Totally true and definitely deserves lower ratings. However, with that said, I genuinely think that if they made the process a bit more efficient, it would have many more happier patients and I sincerely hope that they take these reviews and do something about it. But let's be honest, in reality I don't think they care about the reviews at all

Very inefficient and bad service. Worst experience I had…. Actually I wanted to rate 0 stars…. My kid used to go for regular consultations. Have to wait for 4 hours every time even with appointment which are fixed 4 months in advance. Not many patients though… it is literately not possible to change the appointment time after booking done as the staff always tell you that all slots within the next 4 months are full… but the clinic can just message you last minute and tell you that your appointment time is changed…. Ridiculous workflow… My helper needs to get a doctor letter. She has to go down to the center in person for 3 times, and took 3 hours each time just to wait for nurses to ask some simple questions which can easily be done over a phone call…. just imagine how our public sector resources are being wasted like that…

My mum came here for a cataract day surgery and doctor was late for almost 1.5hrs The following day, we came back for a review. What shocked me was the waiting time for Pharmacy dispensary. We waited more than an hour just to collect an eye drop. This is truly world class experience given the world class Singapore that we are staying in...

As the online booking foretold, the standard eye check took a good 3 hours for me (I was late). The waiting area is comfortable and the staff was very polite and cheerful. Dr Shaun Sim, the consulting clinician was very patient, thorough and personable. But be warned: don’t drive yourself there. The congestion is bad and there is very little parking for public. Leave your car at Block 150 Silat Avenue HDB car park (open space). From there, it’s 800m to SNEC and 600m walk to Block 5 SGH. This tip will save you half an hour of frustration.

Incompetent Eye Dr LOO YUNHUA! I have been a long term patient with SNEC and I have not met any doctor as rude as her. she is unable to answer my question and shut me up. Consultation was less than 5 minutes and she told the nurse to bring me out. I will seek second opinion in NUH. Need to reconsider coming here. Drs all young and have no knowledge. Dangerous to let this dr loo to manage my eye condition. She may cause blindness instead of curing it. Tried to call to make feedback but line always engage. Please do something about this.

I had both of my cataracts done by Dr Cheong Kai Xiong. I can see very clearly now. He was professional and polite. He did not rush and answered all my questions even though he had a lot of patients outside his room waiting for him. I found the surgeries quick and painless. When I complimented him, he gave credit to the pain doctors, saying that they did a good job. He looks young but he is good and humble. After my first cataract I requested that he did my second eye and he agreed. I am thankful for the care that I have received under him at SNEC.

My wife has blurr vision n we booked a senior consultant to have an assessment. She is given an appointment thru sms. A day before actual appointment date she received another appointment date thru 2nd sms. I call but unable to access to any operator. On the appointment day we went down and was informed due to doctor no available the appointment was last min change to 2nd sms date. We are fine if doctor was unavailable but as least give us a call to tell that the appointment has change to the 2nd sms date. We need not have to travel all the way to snec. Moreover the 2nd sms did not indicate change of appointment to new date, it just states you have an appointment on the said date. I hope your centre can improve the communication part eg 2nd sms should indicate cancelled 1st appointment so that we dont have to travel down. Thank you

Be very informed before deciding to seek eye surgery at SNEC, SENG KANG HOSPITAL. The post surgery medical care and support is inefficient and equivalent to 3rd world country standards. I wenf through unnecessary pain, PANIC and anxiety, phone numbers given are not answered. Forget about Walking into their clinic without prior appointment. Even scheduled appointment can be changed without prior notice and coummication is via SMS !! I now have ZERO Expectations for SNEC..... charges are definately NOT ALIGNED to the horrors one has to go through ! Going through these reviews, i can see that tnere is a pattern.... gave feedback to Service Quality Department and NOT Holding any hopes up !

Left SNEC today feeling very confused. In March this year a senior consultant (sc) said I have cataract on my right eye that explained the poor vision. The SC then gave me a shorter 6month appointment later (which was today) with tests (op imaging etc) to be done to prepare for the cataract surgery. Today when I turned up for the appointment, did all the indicated tests, a junior doctor attended to me. A very kind and patient doctor. Nothing against her. After going through the information and analysing me she approached a senior doctor (not the same doctor which I saw in March since I am on subsidized scheme) in the same room for suggestion. Prior to approaching the senior doctor the junior doctor mentioned that the cataract is causing my degree to increase. The senior doctor decided to monitor for another 6months again 🙄 Not that I fancy a surgery but didn't the senior consultant mentioned a surgery would be arranged hence requesting for those tests today?? Then the tests are for what? Is SNEC going to reimburse me? So the next time the tests will be requested again when the next doctor determine I need to do a cataract removal surgery? The counter staff whom I double check with jolly well told me to "go private" cos I feedback that different doctors seem to give different diagnosis. Confusing! So it's as good as as telling us (subsidized patients) to take it or leave it. SNEC, seriously? MOH, something must be done leh. Disclaimer: not naming any doctor cos my intention wasn't to shame anyone but to bring out the concern.

My 88 years old father has a 9.50am appointment. We waited for more than an hour and the nurse informed that he is next after one patient. To our surprise, a young man was being called in when it is my father’s turn. It seems that he is not a subsidized patient and should have priority over a pioneer generation even though it is the old man’s turn. Our experience with SNEC is that they don’t really respect appointment slots but to allow jumping of q is really something new.

I accompanied my dad to the eye centre on a Thursday for a consultation. Appointment time was 2.30pm and we reached slightly earlier than that. The doctor took some tests which took around 10min and then told us to wait for consultation with the doctor. At 4pm we were told there were 7 more patients in front of us. And it was finally my dad’s turn only at 6.30pm. How ridiculous is this?? If the waiting time is this long for just a mere consultation then the eye centre should have told patients in advance when making the appointment. For a place that runs on an appointment basis, a 4h wait is really ridiculous. I get that we should not be entitled especially at a public medical centre, but seriously, having only one doctor on duty when there are so many patients is just poor planning on the centre’s part. If you cannot handle that many patients then you should not have opened up so many slots for appointment. Very very disappointed.

Waited for 3 months for an appointment for my severe dry eyes and the consultation lasted for only 2 minutes, next appointment was scheduled 3 months later without providing any specialised dry eye treatment. Saw an auntie politely asked the nurse for the way to her assigned room and the nurse almost didn’t seem to care and brushed her off by saying “I’m not free”. Didn’t expect the above to happen in Singapore.

Waiting time very long even you have appointment. Definitely have to improve on the waiting time. I’ve been waiting for almost 3 hours to see the doctor.

While the LASIK surgery went well, it was extremely obvious that SNEC severely lacks in patient care and professionalism. Immediately after my LASIK surgery, I was asked to take a photo with the Doctor when I couldn’t even open my eyes as they were smarting and tearing from the procedure. When asked if the photo taking is necessary, the doctor replied with a “It’s a souvenir for you and even asked me to hold up a sign that says “Yay to BETTER VISION!”” I simply cannot comprehend the severe lack of patient care and professionalism from a certified medical professional to ask a patient whom had just finished a procedure for a photoshoot. Went for my post op review the next day and was appalled by the nurses’ work ethics. They didn’t even check my patient record before starting the eye examination. The moment I sat down on the examination chair, the nurse asked if I’m short sighted and if I brought my spectacles which left me dumbfounded. The next question is even more shocking, she asked when I’m having the surgery. All these should have been clearly reflected in my patient records if only the nurses bothered to check which should be part of the standard operating procedure. The next post op review, the nurses’ work ethics continue to surprise. They asked when did I have my surgery and if it was done yesterday. Only when I asked whether they checked my patient records before calling me in for examination which she replied with no then proceed to check. SNEC needs to have a total revamp in their patient care and immediate improvement in work ethics especially when they are medical professionals. I will definitely not recommend anyone to do their LASIK here.

my advice, if you are paying as private SNEC patient: get a 2nd opinion and be very careful of the charges quoted by SNEC. I was closed to proceeding a simple surgical procedure with them. A specialist friend advised me to get a 2nd opinion which resulted in aborting the surgery procedure with SNEC. I finally went to a highly experienced doctor from Mt E and was able to achieve the same end result at 25% of the cost quoted by SNEC, and with much higher level of professionalism and service. Suffice to say, SNEC will never be my first port-of-call again.

As in case of any medical service, what you get depends on the consultant or doctor. I was fortunate to have a very professional, patient, friendly, warm and caring senior consultant during my visit. The waiting system did require a bit of patience but I came mentally prepared knowing that this is a public healthcare service provider cum teaching institution. Besides, we are talking about a Singaporean public service which, unsurprisingly given the local culture, can often be paternalistic and prescriptive in approach.

Just like the National Cancer Centre Singapore, this Singapore National Eye Centre is equally a welcoming sight for those in need. I was referred from Choa Chu Kang Polyclinic, Dr Odelia Koh who appeared proficient in what she was telling me except for the fact that she triggered the alarm in me when she stated very clearly that I needed to go the emergency hospital right away. Long story short, I ended up with Dr Teo Zhen Ling, who carried out several tests after dilating my pupils. Just like Dr Koh, she also appeared proficiently knowledgeable and handled the inspection so well I felt I can trust her. Now I will have to wait it out for 2 months for the next follow up visit.

Like to share a very bad experience few years back.My mother had teary eye problem and seek treatment there. She was injected with the medicine to numb her eye. However, the nurse started to use a medical sharp tool to poke her eye gland to check for clogging without checking whether has the numbness of her eye started to take effect . Because of the nature of my mother character, she did not complained about this matter. However after the incident, she told me she had to bear the pain throughout the procedure .

Appt time was 1.30pm, after 2 tests done and doctor consultation, it was 5.40pm. The officers who did the tests were much more pleasant than the doctor. After waited so long the female doctor at L1C62 was not even looking at the file and was not patient to talk to u. Examined me for less than 5mins and told me to come bk for further test. Will definitely not recommend to others.

My husband had a complicated retinal detachment and after 2 surgeries at a private hospital, his situation did not improve. Fortunately, we went to SNEC, and met Dr Gavin Tan. Dr Tan operated on my husband and treated him with injections. He is professional, meticulous, kind and helpful in answering our doubts and queries. My husband is now in a much better state than before. We are very grateful to Dr Tan for salvaging my husband's vision. Thank you Dr Tan!

I was seen by Dr Danny Cheung, who was very professional and helpful in advising us about the options in treating my mother's cataracts. After he patiently explained to us about the pros and cons of all the options, my mum decided to go for surgery. She now has perfect vision after surgery, without the need of using glasses. She told me it was absolutely amazing, and a truly life-changing experience. We are very grateful to have had Dr Cheung as our eye doctor.

The initial SMS sent quoted a price of $179 for consultation. On the day of consultation, the nurse+lab tech advised me that the doctor requests further tests to be done for all his patients. These all added up to $330 in the end for the first consultation. The staff will provide you with a false choice: "the doctor recommends it but it is your choice to do it". Who would say no? They would also try to show transparency after-the-fact by telling you the cost of the additional tests; the tests that were not transparently communicated in the first place. I chose SNEC because I thought that pricing would be transparent. It is rather obvious that they are banking on the fact that you would be willing to pay already since you've decided to come for a lasik consultation. Further, I have just accidentally poked my left eye while applying anti bacterial drops and I'm feeling a bit of discomfort and pressure. The clinic has advised me to come down for a look but the cost would be $130+ meds excluding GST. I think that the pricing is a huge joke and if you want more personalized care that you should not go to SNEC. I refuse to believe that a smaller private clinic doctor would charge another $130+gst just to take a quick look at my eye to confirm nothing is wrong, or at least a smaller private clinic doctor who wants to maintain patient-doctor r/s for referrals will not charge that kind of money. My LASEK procedure was only 8 days ago. As an aside, price for everything is inflated imo. Do you know the regular test where someone asks you to hold up a piece of spoon and requests that you read aloud what the board says? That costs $10 excl gst. This is an activity that requires no medical knowledge, low tech technical equipment, and mine just took 10 secs. Maybe such pricing is also reflected the same in other private clinics, so I guess my point is that medical fees in general are inflated. My main point is still that if you want more personalized care and better transparency (ironically) maybe a smaller private clinic would be better. Or an actual private hospital may be better. Don't go to SNEC. Having looked through some of the reviews here, I could agree with both the poorer ones and also with the better ones. However please know that the general standard of medical care and professionalism of the staff will be the same across all the clinics, whether at SNEC or at other private clinics, so do not choose SNEC because of these reasons The differentiators are the little things like what I've mentioned above (e.g. unpersonalised care, transparency issues). Maintaining a stream of patients to treat is more difficult for other private clinics than for SNEC therefore these clinics have to act more competitively within themselves and also between themselves and SNEC to keep their businesses going. So you will more than likely receive better personalized care in such places. Check out other clinics and talk to others who have undergone treatments in other clinics, it may br worth your while shopping around before deciding.

One of the top eye care centres, not only in this region, but world wide. This institution has got a high repute for providing the best diagnostic and therapeutic services to the eye patients. Waiting time might be long, as the cases that are being treated are quite complex one. It might take 15 to 20 minutes on average for the work up of a routine case, while some cases might take every an hour as they need further investigation and opinion from experts.

From my first visit until the post-surgery consultation, it's been a smooth and pleasant experience. A big round of applause for the doctors and staffs. They are very polite, efficient and took time to explain in details. The system is very orderly and the signage is there to direct you. You won't get lost ! Given the large number of patients, it's inevitable that you have to wait slightly longer than your appointment time. The staffs at SNEC are facing tremendous stress, work long hours and so definitely they do have their emotions. If it's bearable, let's give them some leeway instead of a bad review. I'm glad I have chosen SNEC at SGH. Thank you. 😊

I have a very pleasant visit to Clinic 3B on 8th May 8.50am appointment for my eye check up. I would like to express my appreciation to Dr Anna Tan and her 2 nurse. Unfortunately, I couldn't catch their name after the eye drop. A young Indian female nurse and a more senior Chinese female nurse. Both the nurses have been very professional and caring. Very horrible service and attitude at SNEC , long waiting time , hidden charges and bad attitude service . Request for senior doctor for consultation , consult on the prices beforehand, end up when reach there , they told me that this specific senior doctor had a additional eye test to do , that cost 80plus . Why beforehand when I chose this doctor , they didn't mention anything about it ? After which , they proceed on by giving me a junior doctor and charge me senior consultant price . Was quite upset about it and call back to check , end up they say that they are giving the junior doctors a chance to learn ?? Then if so , why charge the senior pricing ? Are your treating patient as guinea pig ? I can understand that if your want to let junior doctor have a experience in it . However, the senior doctor should be the one examine and junior doc learn by the side and not just leave the patient with the junior doc alone and let the junior doc examine. And in the first place . I requested for smile treatment , only until the second consultation then they told me I am not suitable . If I am not suitable then tell me from the start ! And I would not have return for the second consultation that cost $300plus to re consult and having to re do all the test ! They just trying to drag on your time and money for it . Dont bother coming here . Gleneagle is much more better and cheaper .

went to snec with the intention to do lasik with dr chan back in june. after doing the assessment, he mentioned that my right eye was too dry to go ahead with lasik and will need to be treated with eye lubricants and eye drops. personally don't feel that my eyes are dry but who am i to say when a doctor says so. 1 month later came back for review, mentions that my eye is still dry.. nvm. then came back 3 months later in october for the next review and now he mentions that my left eye is dry too and will need another 6 months of treatment before the next review..... at this point i was super done with this 'dry eye'. went to a private clinic to get a 2nd opinion and guess what, the 'dry eye' were only little specks of dry spots on the caudal aspect of my eye. so minute that the private doctor arranged for my lasik to be done 2 days after the assessment. wasted about $600 and 5 months on 'dry eye' diagnosis. was also very annoyed by the way dr chan spoke to me as though i don't spend $100+ just to hear him say 'your eyes still dry'. more clarity could have been given into showing me or explaining to me about my dry eye. if he had explained it better, i may have been patient enough to wait 6 months. but thankfully the bad experience finally pushed me to seek 2nd opinion...

I went to the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) for a second opinion on my eye condition on the afternoon of 19 November 2021 at one of the clinics at Level 1 of the building. The Ophthalmologist who attended to me that day was Dr. Sudarshan Seshasai. The following week (26 November), laser surgery on one eye was performed by Dr. Seshasai, who took time off from his lunch hour to do it. I am truly grateful. I am writing to say that the 2 visits to SNEC went very well. Dr. Seshasai has been very pleasant, friendly and put me at ease during the consultation. He took time to patiently explain my eye ailment and the possible side effects from the various eye medication that I have to use. Besides Dr. Seshasai, all the nurses and staff at SNEC who had attended to me were very courteous and friendly. And the SNEC building itself is welcoming, clean and spacious.

This morning 11 Apr 2023 my dad had an eye review appointment at 815am. We reached SNEC before 8am, upon reaching clinic 3C, there was no clear instructions patient can do self registration. Registered at 0805am, evaluation only done at 9am. Seen doctor at 940am. It is perfectly fine till collection of medication at the pharmacy. The pharmacist at counter 3 gave different instructions from Dr Chew for usage of the eye drop. Informed him not to confused the patient, as doctor already said the sequence does not matter as long as is 5mins apart. He start to get hostile and roll eye us. Then repeatedly said if we use this first is better. So should we trust the doctor or the pharmacist? Furthermore there are no feedback forms at all the counters. Need to request for feedback form from the information counter. The 2 star are for the ancillary staff.

This morning 5 Apr 2023 my 90 yr old mum had an eye appointment at 8.10am. We even pre-booked a cab to make sure we were on time. We reached SNEC at 7.45 am & guess what.. we left SNEC at 11 am after collection of eye lotion from pharmacy. We were guided from L1 to L3 & back to L1..testing & testing..most of the time was waiting..waiting.. The staff are caring & attentive.. but hope the system can improve to shorten the waiting time. I don't wish my mum or other elderly folks to undergo such ordeal .

Brought my aunt, 86 year old, on wheelchair, to SNEC for first appointment. Appointment time is 2.50 pm. Registered at self-service kiosk, 2.35 pm, unsuccessful, further directed to registration counter. Waited till 3 pm and noticed those who came later was called. I approached staff twice at the counter and was told our number is still in the queue. When we were eventually called, at 3.15 pm, staff questioned if we were late as our appointment time is 2.50 pm. My blood just boiled! Staff explained that it might be a system problem. Told them I will do a feedback. They said thank you. Receive the SMS to do feedback today. This standard feedback form is too lengthy that I do not have the patience to complete. I think it is faster to do it here. The saving grace of today's visit is the staff and doctor's attitude towards my aunt. They showed patience and kindness towards her and tried to accommodate to her needs as she is on wheelchair.

Consultation room 14 Not a pleasant visit with the doctor attending to me. Nurses are helpful but the doctor comment are not helpful to treat my blurry vision condition and he reckon that the causes are due to my diet & lifestyle. There was a trainee beside him at that time, hopefully she doesn't absorb the doctor behaviour. Before planning my visit to SNEC, I went to my family doctor first to get a referral letter but the consultation to walk in as a private rate is SGD 124 ++ ,eventually I went to polyclinic. The doctor job is not to judge but to help the sick, respect goes in both way!

Met with Doc for my 5yrs old daugther ...first of all they made us wait for an hour then said we need to do patch test which was suppose to last for 45mins but then they patched on the wrong eye...instead of being apologetic she supported her staff by saying now we can check both the eyes...then we had to wait for another hour or so for the patching in the other eye....then since we were a little upset about the whole situation the doc treated my daughter so bad...its really sad that a 5 yr was treated like that.....it is better doc could have said that she does not want to treat our daughter instead of this kind of treatment. she might be a specialist but our child is also special for us

Took 5 hours (11am to 4pm) to do pre-operation assessment at Clinic 2, which means it took an average of 1 hour for each station (financial counselling, blood pressure test, pre surgery counselling, eye test and ECG test) The work flow amongst the 5 stations needs to be improved and be more efficient.

My visit here was very nice, doctor was very polite and care about patients (truly a good doctor), nurses were very helpful and polite, front desk at 3B was great and friendly. Of course not all experience is good, 2 things i would like to add. 1). Front desk at 6C was bad and rude. 2). One staff at 3B-28 has manner issue (one of Indian woman), my mother has vision problem and when this staff examine my mom and she asked my mom to look at to direction that she want by knocking the direction with the part of the machine and i was so shocked, what do you think my mom is? A cow? Have some respect towards patients and to someone older than you, they didnt teach you manner at school? Overall this is a good hospital but theres gonna be a bad apple in a pile of good ones.

TLDR: waste of time and money, because they performed tests unnecessarily. Would highly recommend you to clarify purpose of visit by email (what tests they will perform and estimated cost) before the appointment. The doctor prescribed multiple tests for me that had nothing to do with why I was visiting in the first place. I ended up paying a fortune for these tests and left without the results for why I was actually there. Doctor was also very impatient. She didn't ask further questions about eye history. When I tried to bring up questions, she huffed and did a quick test and said "nothings wrong. i don't know why your previous doc said that." without further explanation about the condition.

Review : September 2022 Ophthalmic imaging is a highly specialised field of ophthalmology which helps doctors to diagnose and manage a wide variety of eye conditions. This is a rapidly developing area, with new instruments and techniques allowing us to better understand eye diseases and their treatments but the nurses at the 3B28 aren't able to explain what's this department is all about or what kind of new images required now as I've been here before and had many pictures taken in the past but she will simply not answer but request you to go back to the Doctor to enquire- why you are sent here , which is very absurd. In my case she called out her senior as a "Doctor ",to explain . He went on & not correcting his title but raising his voice . To go ask your Doctor yourself. Wonder what type of professionalism by their attitude.

27th Jan finally my appointment day at SNEC after 3 months wait. Very disappointing experience living in a first world country. Communication between SNEC and GP clinic is close to non existent, only thing that was arrange is appointment time. Earliest appointment took 3 months from date of eye irritation. Physical Referral form which may or may not have been given to me is missing. Nothing communicated between clinics only appointment date. No soft copy to fall back on even tho it’s 2022 a digital age. Now because of the physical referral form I have to postpone appointment back another 2 months. Solution given from front desk is either postpone or pay walk in price. If I wanted to pay walk in price I would have seen the doctor 3 months ago.

Very unprofessional services! My mom's xen implant surgery was cancelled after she had completed her pre-op exam because the surgery team didn't arrange for the deliver of the implant on the surgery date. My mom fasted for nothing. Furthermore, snec has a lot of nondisclosure policies. I felt like we were in a highly classified medical facility where information was not forthcoming. In the end, my mom had 2 xen implants failures and I got her to be transferred to nuh. Stay away from prof Aung tin and Dr Rahat.

Worst from the very beginning, was informed to use health buddy app (son did all the filling up) b4 going for the appt. I was late so when reached I took out my phone and ID as usual to enter the bldg. that tomboyish staff just refused to even bother to look up and pointed the QR coded and said ‘scan’ after scanning she said ‘declare’. So I thought was that health buddy app stuff but unluckily the app was gone and I didn’t know how to retrieve; I was panicked & trying very hard to get the page back, all the staff just sat or stood in that empty hall with no help, I had no choice but to go out of that bldg n waited for my son for help. This was 1st follow up to ensure I have no glaucoma; the 1st check up was to diagnose eyes’ condition was a present and warm experience. The staff wanted to do a normal check up, I told her that wasn’t the case after a few trips for clarification; she confirmed is for glaucoma check up. Communication break down? After all the procedures; Doctor told me that everything is normal, but in the end to our astonishment the nurse gave me a form as a glaucoma suspect n was told to wait for the review report via sms, son double check with the nurse n doctor as predicted they showed back face with attitude. While waiting; they kept on saying that all the doctors were too busy to review the report when we called. It took the doctors a month just to review a report ( inefficient, busy or otherwise!?) They worth no star to be honest, Owner don’t ask me for detail for y’all to follow up, u asked around n u would be able to know that incident~

I’m here comment about valet parking service. Is too bad the attitude of the staff, let the customer wait too long, most of the staff is Chinese uncle, make noise and talk louder, work like funny when serve the customer, when ask why too long to wait, they will shirk the responsibility each other . Is that the correct way to work? Pls pay attention to this problem. Thanks.

I was confronted about using a shared bicycle outside the hospital premises when 2 security guards confronted me and demanded I give them my particulars. They became aggressive and argumentative when I told them I preferred to see their manager. Took out phone to video them shouting and threatening. The 2 guards tried to snatch the camera then deliberately shoved me to the floor in the process and broke my arm and damaged my hand. Was hospitslised. Couldn't work for nearly 4 months already still in recovery. Hospital spokesperson and security company Aetos denied full responsibility. Newspapers wouldn't take up the story. MPs and ministry ignored issue. Hospital only wants to be 50% responsible for hospital bill and wants a non-disclosure agreement to be sined if any compensation is made. Police investigation still going and the hospital refused any access to footage even through legal means.

We have been coming here two times a year for treatment for many years. Waiting and treatment time will usually take three hours so please be prepared to wait. Doctors are patient and attentive. They serve Milo and biscuits to people waiting. Work flow is a bit chaotic like system instructions and actual room may not be correct. You have to check with the nurses on the next steps. Appointments have to be booked way in advance and last-minute changes will be difficult to make. It is just to be expected in a busy hospital. You just have to work with the system.

This is how I responded to the appointment email " Dear PIC, It is indeed very surprising that you took time to respond to my below request after 1 month, when it was supposed to be done with in 2 days, I practically had given up on SNEC. The so-called “Singapore Efficiency” is gone. Thanks for the below, I plan to get it done with a place which care about my health and provide prompt responses and follow-ups. The prices here are around half of private and the waiting time is surprisingly fast, around 1 hour for my visit compared to 2h for private. They also have all the same equipment as Eagle eye. Very professional, go here if you can wait for the appointment. (around 6 months)

The staff here are all very friendly and helpful, especially Ms Lim who analyze my father's eyes. She was very gentle in the eye checking and explanation and even help us to clear the corridor path for me to wheelchair my father out after the checkup. A/Prof Cheung Ning (Danny) is an excellent ophthalmologist. Pre-ops, he took the time to explain the procedure & options available. Pros and cons of each option were clearly explained. The entire process which included the Ops and follow-ups went very smoothly. Follow-up appointments at SNEC were smooth & easy. Registered online on appointment day, had the standard evaluation tests done followed by seeing A/Prof Cheung Ning (Danny). The entire process took about an hour. Waiting area is comfortable and the staff were polite and helpful.

Many years ago when I first saw lightning flashes at the corner of my eyes, I looked out of the window only to see the bright blue sky! It took me more than a year before I checked with my GP, only to be rebuked by him and was immediately referred to SNEC. My eyes were rigorously examined and put through stringent tests by Dr Ranjana and her team of highly dedicated consultants in the first 6 months. You could say that they were trying to find fault with my eyes, yes, they left no stone unturned! Understandably, I felt a little anxious and apprehensive each time before the test results. But the nurses and care givers were always there to provide the much needed support. SNEC also organised talks and seminars for the public and I was fortunate to attend one where I learned how to really look after my precious eyesight. Equally important, I got to know the correct nutritional supplement required to sustain my eye health in the long term. Besides, I can also do away with the guessing game by getting SNEC optometrist's calibrated refraction report for the optician to make my reading glass. In these days of Covid-19 global pandemic, my mind boggles as to why there are people who not only refuse to listen to their doctors but unfortunately even rebuked them! On hindsight, I now understand why my GP rebuked me because it's all about the risk of retinal detachment i.e. instant blindness. Thank you so much to all eye care professionals and care givers at SNEC for providing me with knowledge and guidance on long term sustainable eye care. I am very grateful to be able to run this marathon with SNEC as my partner! HAPPY NURSES DAY!

His assistance and friendliness has helped us felt less tense and created a pleasant experience while waiting to see the Dr. Thank you.

Long queue just to pick out a queue number. This is after a very efficient diagnostic and consultation. Several elderly patients who are waiting in line were having difficulty standing for prolonged period. I have to approach staff to get them to open up the counters instead of just having one counter to issue queue numbers.

My mum went for her eye check up on 31/8 at 9am appt after a cataract surgery and had a very bad experience with the nurse there. My mum who is 80yrs old was told to read the numbers on the board to see if she can read. My mum could not see. The nurse was so rude to my mum saying how come most patients can see but my mum can't. When my mum went to see the doctor he told her it's normal for some to take a few days to see please train your nurses to be more polite to older people. Please don't hurt them by saying the wrong things.

Overall an OK place. The ambience is nice, though the travel to SNEC from the MRT was a bit complex. Attending staff are okay, but the doctors appear stressed out, rush for time; and do not seem too keen on listening to their patients. More empathy is required, but understandably due to high clinical loads and constraints.

Overall not a very pleasant experience. Appt slot was at 2.10pm, and somehow my whole session, including seeing doctor, investigations, and seeing doctor again + waiting (obviously) was a whole 4 hours, and I left the clinic at 6pm. I understand that the clinic was very packed and the doctors were also very very busy. And since I was the last few patients remaining, felt that the staff there were trying to “clear” patients for eg, explanations about my condition, in my opinion, were done quite hurriedly without much elaboration & I don’t have the time to ask all the questions I have been wanting to ask all this while. Also, felt too much light was shone in my eye during the eye examination, as the junior doctors took over my case while waiting for the consultant to review me again. Overall, not very satisfied with the depth of diagnosis and explanation given that I had waited so long. The waiting time should definitely be improved. However, most of the staff were friendly and nice even though they were vv busy. Role of thumb: Clear your schedule on the day of your appointment because expect to wait.

At the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), Dr. Ti Seng Ei was the doctor in charge of my eye treatment. During the 3rd check-up on 13th September 2022, when I was trying to describe my situation, my pain, and my discomfort, she purposefully disregarded my feedback and thought that I was just complaining about her treatment. She was always interrupting me in the middle of my sentence to the point that I was never given any chance to complete my sentence in front of her. I remember up to 4 times that she had asked me with an annoyed attitude: “What do you mean?” when I was just trying to describe my pain. Also, she told my family members to take me to check my mental health because she insisted the reason that I closed my eyes was just my imagination and that I was mentally unstable. Furthermore, in our following check-up, she never let me raise any questions or concerns about my illness; if I ever did so, she just ignored it or explained it in an extremely reckless way. For all the time I saw her, I never had enough time and space to consider carefully about my questions and receive a thoughtful answer from her. To make matters worse, in my 5th session with her, when I raised a concern about my illness, she pointed her finger at my face and immediately told me: “SHUT UP!”. Before coming to Singapore, my family and I expected I would be able to receive outstanding healthcare quality as I am a foreign patient who fully paid for my eye treatment without insurance coverage. On the contrary, what I received from SNEC was opposite to our expectations, which made me extremely disappointed. On 30th June 2023, when I suddenly came to Singapore before the appointment with her in August, when I told her I felt pain in the lower half of the right eye, she rejected my input and said: “You always feel pain and always have questions!”. She prescribed me to check my vision and insisted that I get new glasses and everything would turn out fine. After this session with Dr. Ti, I double-checked my eye situation with a Vietnamese ophthalmologist only two weeks later and received the diagnosis of both my eyes. He urged me to return to Singapore immediately as my eye situation was so alarming to the point my symptoms at that time were the same as those of the first time I came to SNEC. These terrible consequences were the result of the long period I was not listened to by Dr. Ti during my eye treatment and ineffective treatment. On 20th July 2023, coming back to SNEC, I was sitting in a wheelchair, closing my eyes with overflowing tears and excruciating pain in both eyes. After reaching floor 6C, my parents and I asked to change the doctor in charge for legitimate reasons. To our surprise, all the staff and nurses at that time prevented us from doing so. They insisted that Dr. Ti was the best doctor for my illness. At the peak of the situation, they outrightly told me: “There were no other doctors available but Dr. Ti. If you insisted upon it, you should get back to Vietnam to see another doctor.”. In the emergency case, the fact that a nurse from a well-known hospital could say those things to a patient is absolutely immoral in every way. After enduring agonizing pain and frustratingly waiting for a considerable period, they finally let me see Assoc. Prof. Anshu. After that emergency room spectacle at SNEC, my parents and I decided to follow another doctor, Prof. Donald Tan. As expected, he found out my eyes were full of filaments, just like the first time I came to SNEC. If I have to say something about Dr. Ti, it would be: discriminatory, impolite, and immoral; and that I have wasted the entirety of my time, money, and well-being ever since Dr. Ti attended to me. Since I suffered unnecessarily, I posted this review to advise future patients against choosing Dr. Ti Seng Ei at SNEC.

Record waiting time of four hours three days ago. Patience ran out in the last hour. I presume they had many patients to see. Suggest they give a real sense of waiting duration instead of making patients wait indefinitely. I had to wait for two hours max at Khoo Teck Puat previously. This really takes the cake. Total lack of consideration for patients' time. Time is not a luxury. We have chores to do and errands to run besides waiting for two to four hours to see a doctor. I know I am not paying a premium to receive special treatment or privileges. So when nurses tried to help, I didn't want jump the queue. Enough said.

Visited SNEC on 19/4/21 afternoon. At the registration/payment counter at Level 3, when I requested for a photocopy of my Laser Request form, the receptionist said "cannot", can only copy the Day Surgery Discharge Summary form. I wonder why. The form contains my information, not someone else's , so I do not see a breach of confidentiality. I need the Laser Request form to prove that I did not request the laser for fun. The other form is useless for this purpose as it does have the relevant information. On a positive note, I would like to commend the male nurse on duty at the nurse station inside the Laser Vision Centre on Level 3 who was super friendly and helpful. And most importantly, very grateful to A/Prof Shamira Perera who explained and fixed my issue promptly.

Had to go through many tests/assessments to confirm my diagnosis but also met many professional doctors and nurses along the way. Everyone is so nice and kind. Special mention to Dr. Sunny Shen who performed my eye operation - the incision healed really well and I can't thank him enough for his patience and kindness during the whole consultation to post-op process. P.S. Saw many negative reviews on the long waiting hours but I feel that it is quite common for govt-subsidized centres. Also, patients go to SNEC with different symptoms and require different tests (complex or not) so you can't expect every consultation to be exactly X minutes even though you have an appointment (unless you want them to schedule every patient 1 hour apart and by the time you get your appointment slot is 1 year later already lah).

Called the SNEC hotline in the morning, the person told me to come for a walk in appointment from 1-3pm. Upon reaching here, the receptionist told me the staff was undergoing training and eye clinic was closed. If I want to see doctor will have to go to A&E apartment, charges from $160+ onwards. Which is a HUGE difference from the charges for a walk in appointment. Took leave from my work and travelled all the way from the west to here just to hear all this. Receptionist shared the call centre did not get the memo and information thus miscommunication happened. Seriously though. How can such a thing happened to a big eye centre like this? Please review your system and avoid such incidents again.

The waiting time is horrendous. It takes nearly 40min for registration, over 3 hours to even see the doctor. Not to mention the time taken for collection of the medication. The most ridiculous part of the whole ordeal is that I've an appointment scheduled for a stipulated timing. What is the use of fixing an appointment then?
