One of Singapore’s most tranquil parks to be in. The reservoir is vase enough so even though it may seems crowded in a given day and time like the morning weekends, it doesn’t feel crowded. The trails are well lite, and the broad walk well paved. Weekends are filled with various schools running their canoeing 🛶 CCA activities. The water colour in the reservoir has a clear turquoise green glow. It is stocked with fish and there’s a section designated for fishing 🎣. The Mushroom Cafe is a stone’s throw away from the carpark. As for the residential monkey population, if you don’t bother them, they wouldn’t bother you, just be careful if you’re holding bags of food. Enjoy!😊

We started on the trail from Rifle Range Road after walking about 3km from Rifle Range Park. The path into MacRitchie Reservoir Park from this point is rockier and not as flat as the ones at Rifle Range Park. There are several shelters along the dirt trail but there are friendlier paths in this 12 hectare park, which is built around Singapore’s oldest reservoir. We came to explore the area around Jelutong Tower and the Treetop Walk. The seven-story tower gives you an aerial view of the reservoir and the one-way Treetop Walk loops back around closer to the Rifle Range Road entrance.

The limitless beauty that macritchie offers can only be described as breathtaking, yet tranquil. Strolling into the park, one is instantly surrounded by greenery and immensed in its verdant nature. A popular activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages is hiking on the boardwalk by the river as it is a mind calming activity that truly allows one to experience the thick forest and invigorating waters of the reservoir at the same time. And, if you are lucky, you would be able to spot a stingray or even different reptiles taking a dip in the waters. Apart from hiking on the broad and well paved trails, one can also rent canoes and kayak around the reservoir. There is also a designated area for fishing and a cafe conveniently situated near the parking lot for one to grab a bite or quench their thirst. However, do be careful of monkeys and do not bother them as they may get aggressive. Overall, a visit to macritchie is indeed a 9.7/10 experience.

Do not go kids pond. They keep changing the rules to their advantage. My girl caught a approx. 2.5kg barramundi but the lady boss insisted and pressured us to release it back as she claimed that all fishes bigger than 3kg have to be release back when there were no signages with this rule nor did their counter staff inform us when we bought the tickets. They didn't even have the integrity to weigh the fish in front of us. We left angry and felt cheated.

If you love nature and want some peace and quiet away from the city, this is the perfect place. I love how it feels like you’re in the middle of the jungle sometimes. It’s a great escape and don’t be put off by the fact it’s a reservoir, it’s probably the nicest reservoir you’ll get to visit!

Scenic and beautiful place. It’s a 11 km stretch across the reservoir. You will experience board walk near the water, walking through forest up and down. Some part of the walk is by the golf course. Overall a wonderful experience. You must try once.

Would definitely recommend to go for a hike there. It's mostly flat , the paths are well kept and it's a great way to escape the big city for one day. Can get a bit crowded on the weekend, but the further you hike the more solitaire you will be.

Nice park to have a walk, quite big, can spend few hours here. A lot of monkey, needs to be aware, better don’t bring food. Really chill, forest covered well, won’t feel heat during afternoon. Overall really nice

Discover an nice hiking area easily accessible through various transportation options. The trails ensures a good water supply, allowing you to refill your bottles en route. Optimal exploration beckons early risers—embark after sunrise, evading both scorching temperatures and bustling crowds.

Great weather before the storm. Saw a few stingrays in the reservoir, a few otters feasting on a big fish and having a nap after that. A 4ft monitor lizard feasting on a piece of fish. Almost crossed path with the Blue Coral Snake. Nice place for a walk

Favorite place to hike in SG, there have the famous tree top walk which is a must-visit. All walking trail will lead you up to the tree top. I tried a few variations ones like the boardwalk which is nice but takes much longer. Recommend not to have any eye contact with the monkeys as they can get quite aggressive 🙊

MacRitchie Reservoir is a fantastic playround for nature lovers 🌿 🥰 families, sports enthusiasts, etc - there's something here for everyone ! We took a 3-hour walk/hike from the main reservoir to Winsor Nature Park. Along the way, we spotted monkeys🙈 squirrels 🐿️, monitor lizards🦎, HUGE ants🐜, birds 🦜... There were people fishing 🎣 kayaking 🚣, running 🏃, having a picnic ...and so much more. We spent the whole morning there, enjoying the beauty of the reservoir - we were lucky that it was a cool morning.🌅 We had a fantastic time bonding 😍 we didn't even realise that we had walked over 10km.🥳 Thankfully there were shelters for rest along the way. Still amazes us that this little red dot 🇸🇬 has more to offer than what we can possibly imagine 🎉 ⚠️ Stick to the main pathways, wear proper walking/hiking/running shoes. It may get muddy after a heavy downfall.

Such an awesome place to go for a walk or run or even just sit and watch the boats racing each other. Conveniently located and well connected with public transport. For people interested to explore further, one can enter through MacRitchie and exit from Bukit Timah nature reserve. Lots of beautiful places to take photos. Must visit for a fun day out.

Nature at its best with Human Intervention. The place is well maintained (hence human intervention) and one can see if full of nature. The MacRitchie Reservoir and the nearby hiking/trailing path is a bliss for adventure goers. This is your ideal spot for weekends. There are several concrete pathways that serve a good running track. The park is equipped with lush greenery, water body (obviously) and monkeys. 🙈 🙉 🙊 There are boardwalks all along the perimeter of the reservoir and through the forest for walk-amid-nature. There are few seatings in between for enjoying a moment of serendipity. The best sunset view is from the Paddle Lodge, keep your camera ready and see the Sun go down and while its doing that enjoy the beaming reflection on the stretch of water body for soothing view. The park is filled with families, group of friends, couple, individuals runners, etc so yes enjoy it in all elements. We spent few hours here, and are defined coming back to cover more of those boardwalks and see where it takes us.

This a beautiful rainforest walk. We spent 4 hours walking. There are different trails. We did all of them. There are short trails that are entirely on the boardwalk. The rest are on a cleared path. The tree top walk is amazing. You cross a suspended bridge. There are monkeys everywhere. Beware, they will grab a plastic bag if they see it. One climbed up my daughter's leg when she stopped to take a photo! . Once past the boardwalk, there are fewer monkeys to be seen. We also saw turtles, water monitors, birds, squirrels. The rainforest is a peaceful piece of paradise with beautiful birdsong. There is a Cafe at the start. You can also kayak. This is a must do if you enjoy nature walks. Make sure you have decent walking shoes. Much of the walk is in the shade. There are a couple of ranger stations on the way to refill water bottles and toilet stops. Do not carry plastic bags even in back pack. A monkey jumped on my backpack and unzipped it, taking out the contents. I tried to take the plastic from it but it bared its teeth. I picked up plastic bag remnants and juice bottles on the walk so it obviously happens often.

Labour Day walk in Mac Ritchie. Sunny weather, blue skies and beautiful clouds. There was a fallen tree along the boardwalk. Be careful. We didn't walk under the fallen tree so we u-turned back and walked to the other side.

MacRitchie is my Sat morning ritual. So here is a list for those first timers: 1) Mosquito repellent 2) Snack ( Sandwich etc..) 3) Any comfortable sport shoes 4) Light clothing (Humid at times) 5) A hat/cap (Can get hot) 6) Water!!! To hydrate 7) Phone (Incase you get lost) even after reading the map... Do: -Wear sunscreen as some areas are not shaded - Check the map and ask around to ensure you are going the correct direction. Don't: Carry red or any type of plastic! Seriously the monkeys will snatch it from you. Telling you from live experience:( Enjoy your trip and if you see a monitor lizard, be calm and step away. They are probably scared of you:)

Visited MacRitchi reservoir in 6th Sep but unfortunately our chosen day was not good as it rained soon after we started our walk in the forest. We had to stop 3-4 times during our walk because of rain but it didn’t stop so finally we had to abandon our visit and returned. However, whatever the time we spent there, was enough to make our mind to visit this once again as it is a beautiful location to hang out with family and friends. Must go well equipped with water and some snacks since it’s a huge forest and needs lot of time and energy to walk around.

Great place to exercise or hike. It is less crowded on weekdays and gets really crowded during weekends (even during the current covid pandemic). HSBC Treetop walk is a must-try, do note it is a one-way trip across the bridge and always remember NOT to feed the monkeys as they can get rather aggressive if they see people carrying food. Food in the Mushroom Cafe is rather pricey, suggest taking a road down to Bukit Timah (not too far away) for your meals.

(Translated by Google) Very suitable for hiking, with a large range and many routes. A complete circle around the lake takes about 3.5 hours and a walk of about 12km (from mrt marymount A exit ~ the main walkway to the treetop walk (often monkeys sitting on both sides of the suspension bridge) ~ landscape tower ~ golf link ~ the lakeside and finally arrive at Mushroom cafe ~Back to mrt). You can walk around the pool or walk in the forest trail. The biological state is abundant. Monkeys are often encountered on the lakeside and on the trails.

Well connected from all places within city, this place is well visited by many people regularly like me. Multiple walking trails with proper walking tracks, broadways, and some with stones and mud the natural way. If we cover the entire reservoir we end up walking 15-18 kilometers. There are multiple scenic places to capture. Treetop bridge is where everyone walks first, though it’s not very high place, but, a must visit and check. Walking trails are good for health and refreshing too.

The trail is not that difficult. It is long though. If you love to walk and explore, this place is for you. Do carry water bottle to stay hydrated and to refill at different points. Beware of the monkeys. They are cute but they might try to snatch your food if seen eating in front of them. There were a lot of joggers too.

The wildlife we saw on this walk was a real highlight of our stay in Singapore. We saw tonnes of macaques, slender squirrels, shrew-faced squirrels, turtles and colourful birds. Near the end of the walk, we heard a loud squealing noise. We looked through the leaves and a huge monitor lizard had a wild boar piglet in its jaws. The walk around the reservoir is longer than advertised - we recorded it at just over 8 miles - but we’d highly recommend it.

Usually I like to go MacRitchie for trail runs. One round is around 10km. It is quite hot and humid but shady. Bring some water and snacks as there is no restaurant or shop. Beware of monkeys and wild boar. Some have encountered snakes but I have not. Trail is quite easy for beginner run. Quite busy on weekend. Otherwise it is good place for getaway from hustling city of Singapore.

There were tons of monkey all around the area but don’t be scared of the monkey as they normally mind their own business however the place was pretty chill and surprisingly quite clean. It’s super hot do ensure that you use your sunscreen before planning to hike there. There will be someone to regulate the area at certain days to ensure hikers are safe and sound. Monkey could be really skeptical when they see food on sight. Make sure you hold on tight on ur stuff. But overall it’s a 10/10 for those who love hiking and enjoying scenery

Our second visit to this area. Walked the Lornie trail this time. Previously walked the petai trail. Well maintained nature reserve for hiking. The hiking paths through the forest areas are wide and easy. The broadwalks near the reservoir edge are narrow but properly maintained. The main toilet building have shower facilities although the water pressure is quite low at the shower head. Within walking distance from Caldecott MRT station and major bus routes along the Lornie Highway.

A place that accommodates activities for family, friends or self - walking, picnics, exercise, canoeing.. but no pets or vehicles on wheels are allowed. The forest trails & boardwalks loop around the waterbody.. so there is flexibility of a short walk to a 4.hour walk. On wetter days, we can skip the forest trails & stick to the boardwalks. Dont carry plastic bags coz they excite the wild macaques. Not a good idea to eat in the huts in forested areas. Water coolers & toilets r found midway - abt 5km fr the main entrances.

One of our oldest reservoirs in the central catchment area. The place still retains the olden days vibe. Slippery when wet!! This was taken before the rains came. Broadwalk was ok but the inner Lornie Trail was very slippery after the earlier storms. Be very careful going down hill, your normal track shoes won’t have much grip! Pleasant walk to the start of trails, runners, the lone rooster and also a lone monkey. The recent rain will do the water level good. From some pictures below you can see the water level dropping. We spotted an egret and monitor lizard, each minding their own business 😂. Watch the video to see if they interacted! Carpark is sufficient but it is getting worn out. Time for a repaint and waterproofing. The surroundings are spick and span. A good time to stop and smell the roses before the new year hectic rush dawns upon us. ✌🏻

There is no doubt about it being a great place if one loves nature. But I noticed people are avoiding the place. It’s not as crowded and popular as before. Before they built a concrete carpark and started charging for cars to enter. Sad. Carparks is big big business in SG. The authorities couldn’t resist joining in. Sad again. Once you put up barriers people will stop coming. It may look popular now and that is because people are stuck and can’t travel.

Its possible to cycle at MacRitchie, but perhaps just 30mins or so along the reservoir edge as the path narrows and can be quite muddy in other areas.... If you are lucky (or unlucky) may bump into some Monkeys !! Do not feed of course and keep a distance as they can bite !!.... Enjoy the reservoir and its beauty !!

They travel in groups and are ready to get their hands on your food if you carry them loosely. Best to not bring any. Saw a couple of young wild boars near the Venus trail. If you look around, you could see more animals in the ecosystem like monitor lizards, squirrels, snakes... I am a hijabi so not aware of issues with mosquitoes and son did not complain. Some people put on sunhats to protect them. If you don't like walking on earthen ground, you can pick boardwalks which is around the perimeters of the lake. Longest loop is about 11km without Treetop walk.

Great day hiking with friends, at one of the most standard yet fulfilling places. Macritchie has become such an iconic place for all generations, from our grandparents to our parents and finally us down to our own kids. Lots to see, lots to discover. Covered about 12 kilometres in a few hours, took it slow as we were all beginners. More places to explore, but certainly not disappointed with this trip! ^^

Beautiful place, if you look carefully especially when on Lornie trail (the boardwalk!), you can see all sorts of amazing stuff - oriental whip snake, monitor lizards (i think?), spiders, mystery insects, stingray looking things, even pitcher plants! Ps: don’t eat or drink anything apart from water when you’re there, the monkeys there can get quite aggressive if they think you have food on you.

Another favorite spot to walk & enjoy the breeze of the reservoir. Quite a vast area to cover so best to walk within one's own pace & timing 👍

MacRitchie Reservoir is a popular spot for hiking, kayaking, and birdwatching in Singapore. It is located in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, which is the largest rainforest in Singapore. The reservoir is surrounded by lush greenery and offers stunning views of the surrounding area. There are several different trails to choose from at MacRitchie Reservoir, ranging from easy to challenging. The most popular trail is the Treetop Walk, which is a suspended bridge that offers panoramic views of the forest canopy. Other popular trails include the MacRitchie Nature Trail, the Lornie Trail, and the Chemperai Trail. In addition to hiking, MacRitchie Reservoir is also a great place to go kayaking. There are several different kayaking tours available, or you can bring your own kayak and paddle around the reservoir at your own pace. Birdwatching is another popular activity at MacRitchie Reservoir. There are over 150 species of birds that have been recorded in the area, including the endangered Sunda pangolin. Either drive or cycle in and get a good workout on the slopes :) Beware of monkeys running across the road though, during my visit I witnessed one hit by a car and badly injured.
