Both gardens are closed till end of 2021. They should've put a note on Google maps too. But surrounding park is very nice.

Such a beautiful park! I went here for a run and stopped for about 30 minutes to take pictures of the beautiful flowers and scenery. The lilies were blooming in late February. This park was very calm and relaxing. On a Sunday morning at around 10 am, there were only 1-2 other people there. It would be a great place for reading, meditating, drawing etc.

The closure of this place is inevitable. With less than 15days to its closure, it is time to grab your camera to take those shots the locations u grew up with. I am very sure you may have at least grew up going here once. Japanese Garden has been living through many changes in Singapore. It moved from Queenstown to its current location beside Chinese Garden. Not only that, even the surrounding changed as well. The buses are now fitted with aircon whereas it was totally already cooling with d windows opened back then; taxis prices of $1.20 are now long gone; and many more.... But time stood still for this place and it is finally now going to go through a change.. A different pace, a different look and maybe a different vibe.. and we can just hope that you get d same feel after its revamp. The current beauty and serenity of this place is still the same as how it was back then. If you had been here before for some event or even jz for a stroll, you will see there are lots of traces of the past. I won't dwell on how this place came about or even where the development will head to, but all I would like to do, is encourage the youth to walk the path of what your parents walked on. Come down for a stroll to enjoy the greenery, the birds that fly by, the bridges and ponds throughout the whole place. What i loved most about the place is the beauty and peace i can never get anywhere in Singapore. Tranquility is something i can never get enough off even after several visits here. So my advice is, enjoy the place before it gets torn down and revamped.. we wont know what the future holds, so grab the present in image before it is lost............ Oya... it is free to enter the place, so i hope it will entice you further to go! Hehehehe, cheers! Psst... parking is not available here for now.. so just park opposite the place, at the HDB mscp and walk abit.. #famwithsten

An absolutely gorgeous place. This is connected to the Chinese garden on one side so it also feels like a single park. One end of the Japanese garden is being renovated (looks like they’re extending the area of the garden). But the place is open and it’s lovely. A perfect location to run, laze or do nothing at all.

Easy access from MRT Station. Calm scenery. Toilets are clean and well maintained. Large shelters are available. Good for macro photography and lots of large birds, for those who are into this.

The landscape are excellent. But, all the leaf of the trees are too small. We are at tropical country and it is too hot during daytime. Cannot enjoy under the hot sun. Planting trees with big leaf is to provide the shade to cover sun light. Encourage to plant fruit trees also. The fruits can donate for charity center in future and children can learn how and where the fruits from what type of trees.

Prefer The Chinese Garden than The Japanese Garden as there is not much in The Japanese Garden. Nice bridges to take your OOTD and take photos. If you are around the corner, do visit The Japanese Garden.

Great place to exercise or hike. It is less crowded on weekdays and gets really crowded during weekends (even during the current covid pandemic). HSBC Treetop walk is a must-try, do note it is a one-way trip across the bridge and always remember NOT to feed the monkeys as they can get rather aggressive if they see people carrying food. Food in the Mushroom Cafe is rather pricey, suggest taking a road down to Bukit Timah (not too far away) for your meals.

(Translated by Google) Very suitable for hiking, with a large range and many routes. A complete circle around the lake takes about 3.5 hours and a walk of about 12km (from mrt marymount A exit ~ the main walkway to the treetop walk (often monkeys sitting on both sides of the suspension bridge) ~ landscape tower ~ golf link ~ the lakeside and finally arrive at Mushroom cafe ~Back to mrt). You can walk around the pool or walk in the forest trail. The biological state is abundant. Monkeys are often encountered on the lakeside and on the trails.

Good for a walk or jog. Nice greenery and views. Can park in Kent Ridge Park Carpark A, then walk, cycle or jog to head down hill to Hort Park. Going down is very relaxing. But do reserve enough energy go back up from Hort Park! To venture further, one can walk from Hort Park to Henderson Park and then on to Mount Faber from here.

It's really a delicate place to go if you have an idle weekend. We live not so far so we just walk there. It's a bit over decorated considering how small it is. But the Japanese elements do give the whole place a hue of silence and peace. Besides, you don't have to be a pro to take nice pics there, since the setting has provided enough contrast.

  • 5/5 Abe Dolores J. 5 years ago on Google
Such a nice place. You suddenly get transported out of Sinapore, it really feels like you are in Japan as the people who have been there said. Clean place, but better go here when it is not peak hours, and avoid holidays because you can take better photos and more angles if there are less people around so you can enjoy. This is a photographer's spot for sure. Lots of interesting subjects.

Very pristine atmosphere. The garden is very well-maintained, as all gardens in Singapore are. The undulating, winding tracks make for a nice walk or a bicycle ride during the evening. There are stone lanterns everywhere beside the track, which adds to the Japanese feel of the gardens. Added feature are the multitude of bonsai trees. The adjacent Chinese gardens are also very nice.

The Japanese Garden is joined to the Chinese Garden but there is not much to see here. However the park is spacious, making it a good place to exercise. Only a small part of the garden look Japanese and the rest are just an ordinary garden.

Nice, peaceful, serene landscaped garden of Japanese influence. With wide open spaces, huge lotus pond, and quaint Japanese bridges and arches, the garden is perfect for a picnic outing or a stroll through its greeneries. Don't be surprised to bump into the family of otters who take Jurong Lake as their home.

  • 5/5 Irena W. 3 years ago on Google
A place that accommodates activities for family, friends or self - walking, picnics, exercise, canoeing.. but no pets or vehicles on wheels are allowed. The forest trails & boardwalks loop around the waterbody.. so there is flexibility of a short walk to a 4.hour walk. On wetter days, we can skip the forest trails & stick to the boardwalks. Dont carry plastic bags coz they excite the wild macaques. Not a good idea to eat in the huts in forested areas. Water coolers & toilets r found midway - abt 5km fr the main entrances.

  • 5/5 Hannah K. 3 years ago on Google
One of the best hiking trails in Singapore. Anyone who ever visits Singapore must explore this Gem. However the bridge is closed till June for renovation but its an awesome getaway from the City life and the glass buildings. The Forest is well kept and track well made..

There's different trails for you to explore. Can't remember which trail we chose, but we spent around 2hrs walking and enjoying the view, breathing in fresh air. There's also a Mr Lim Bo Seng memorial tomb located on top of a hill at Macritchie reservoir. Really fascinating to see old folks playing the er hu, practicing tai chi and young children playing, all together here at the reservoir.

One of our oldest reservoirs in the central catchment area. The place still retains the olden days vibe. Slippery when wet!! This was taken before the rains came. Broadwalk was ok but the inner Lornie Trail was very slippery after the earlier storms. Be very careful going down hill, your normal track shoes won’t have much grip! Pleasant walk to the start of trails, runners, the lone rooster and also a lone monkey. The recent rain will do the water level good. From some pictures below you can see the water level dropping. We spotted an egret and monitor lizard, each minding their own business 😂. Watch the video to see if they interacted! Carpark is sufficient but it is getting worn out. Time for a repaint and waterproofing. The surroundings are spick and span. A good time to stop and smell the roses before the new year hectic rush dawns upon us. ✌🏻

  • 2/5 Roger P. 3 years ago on Google
There is no doubt about it being a great place if one loves nature. But I noticed people are avoiding the place. It’s not as crowded and popular as before. Before they built a concrete carpark and started charging for cars to enter. Sad. Carparks is big big business in SG. The authorities couldn’t resist joining in. Sad again. Once you put up barriers people will stop coming. It may look popular now and that is because people are stuck and can’t travel.

  • 5/5 Lee T. 3 years ago on Google
Its possible to cycle at MacRitchie, but perhaps just 30mins or so along the reservoir edge as the path narrows and can be quite muddy in other areas.... If you are lucky (or unlucky) may bump into some Monkeys !! Do not feed of course and keep a distance as they can bite !!.... Enjoy the reservoir and its beauty !!

I went to Kent Ridge Park for a biking expedition with some friends down the mountain bike trail, and it was a BIG fun! Nevertheless, one can have as enjoyable time as I did hiking up and down the hill; especially on the Canopy Walk, above the trees. It is picturesque, from where I stood. But if one chooses to drive up, well...really, dude, you ought to leave that petrol guzzling thing at home.

One of the best attractions in Singapore. You can find two types of garden: Chinese and Japanese. The Chinese one is filled with so many statues coming from Chinese legends and pagodas while the Japanese garden is well-designed in Japanese style. This is a good place to relax, take a walk, or simply to go jogging.
