As random gardens / parks go in Singapore … this place is definitely worth a visit. Loads of plants that are well marked, cute little paths to meander around, interesting sculptures and pagodas to get relief from the heat. All in all a great spot!

A hidden gem amongst all the wonderful parks across Singapore! Lovingly maintained, it's filled with small trails, each highlighting various elements of biodiversity, plants etc Its not very big in size, and also had a small waterfall adjacent to the Nanyang lake. The only downside was the mosquitoes all around, which made it hard to stand still for long, but maybe it was just me.. If driving in, park your car in front of Hall of Residence 4

After a chance viewing of a youtube video from an ardent jogger recommending β€œthe most beautiful park in SG that no ones go to”, I decided to witness this hidden gem in the west of Singapore that I have not set foot before: Yunnan Garden @ NTU. On a hot and humid Sunday morning, I noticed several groups of visitors ( a significant proportion of them were foreign domestic workers enjoying a slice of tranquility on their off-day ) had already settled into their ideal resting spots under shade. They made good choices indeed, as I gradually immersed myself into the lush beauty of the garden and listened to the cascading sound of a waterfall nearby. Wildlife sighting may not be foremost in people’s minds when they come to visit, but this is my newfound interest and I was delighted to harvest some interesting shots of wildlife found within this garden.

Awesome place. I didn’t expect to see a peaceful and hidden gem nearby NTU. A must visit for aspiring photographers and culture seekers!

Awesome scenery at night. The water and the light creates great atmosphere. The two rows of the coconut trees are so straight and tall. Good to take portrait. At night could have mosquitoes though. And be careful of the path way, it’s relatively small and the side of the wall is not high build. Plus the lighting is not bright.

This garden spring quite a few good surprises for avid walkers who loves walking and admiring plants . Those staying in the west , this is a great place for photos and recharge after a hard days' work . Bring along some insects repellent , just in case .

Beautiful and quaint garden. Very well maintained. Great to enjoy a nice peaceful walk in the evening. Only downside is that there is a lot of road noise from the highway nearby. No play areas for kids.

Lovely garden. It's especially beautiful during golden hour. I enjoy sitting under the pavilions and hearing the cicadas. It's just a little unfortunate that the traffic sounds are quite loud even in the middle of the garden.

It’s a really nice garden to walk in, with many mini-trails available. It’s like a mini Botanical Gardens in my opinion! Can be quite sunny/hot in the afternoon, but plus point is that there are fewer people walking around too. The mini waterfall is the highlight in my opinion. You can view it from above, in front of it directly (on the pathway), or get closer to it by walking off-path (don’t encourage this because if many do it, the grass patches get eroded eventually; but I’ve seen others do it). The 1955 Nanyang gate at the parameter of the gardens is also a nice photo spot. If you can’t find it, just walk closer to the areas where you hear vehicular traffic noise.

This oldest university campus garden Singapore is small, compact, quiet, peaceful, beautiful and clean. This garden located in NTU campus. The footpaths and boardwalks in the garden weave through the garden, with special info kiosks, Chinese traditional designed pavilions and modern breakout decks for resting appreciating the scenery and biodiversity. Each path is a thematic, botanical learning trail, highlighting the significance of Asian plants. Can reach directly by bus no 195 from Jurong Point Interchange. Also reach by bus no 99 from Joo Koon Interchange and nearest bus stop is Xingnan primary school which is 3- 5 min walk away from the garden.

Quite a cool place to visit if you are around the area! The park and it's beautiful surroundings give you a chance to be transported back in time :) A little out of place for those who do not stay in the west but I'm sure you can Google your way here if you want to!

Good: 1. Awesome little hidden gem @ west side. 2. Photograph worthy pavilions and Nanyang arch. 3. Artificial waterfall on the way to Nanyang Lake. 4. Water fountain at one of the pavilions. 5. Right next to the bus stand. Bus #179 to Boon Lay interchange. Bad: 1. No restroom 2. Small size for any decent walk / run. 3. Walkways are pretty narrow.

  • 5/5 Munny l. 3 years ago on Google

The newly refurnished Yunnan Garden in NTU is really beautiful. The extent of Nanyang Lake has been greatly enlarged and cleaned up. Give it a few years for the trees to grow up and we will have a beautiful and shady garden precinct =) There is also a canteen next to the garden where you can enjoy a hot meal a cold drink or coffee tea =)

Small scale, quiet park with numerous greenery. Even though we visited at peak hours e.g. 6pm, the park was pretty isolated. We only strolled through the herbs trail 1 and 2 and were attacked by mosquitoes. The gardens seem to have lots of mosquitoes everywhere. We only managed to walk through about 1/3 of it (less than 20 minutes) and we couldn't take the mosquitoes anymore. It would have been great if not for the insects as it had been interesting to see the different types of herbs. There is a miniature artificial waterfall in the gardens too. Parallel parking are available along the stretch of Residence Hall 4.

Sad to see pple ignoring "no feeding" of fishes in the ponds. The park has a amazing variety of beautiful fishes, the operator must have put in a lot of effort in keeping these fishes healthy. As for those insist feeding, hope the authority can stop them. Also, SDV are much needed to ask pple to put on their masks.

If u stay in Jurong area, it's quite close to you. Getting there was quite a challenge. MRT to Boon lay, but MRT under maintenance. Shuttle bus provided. Alright at Pioneer station and bus 179. The Chinaman bus driver don't know a word of English!! Asked him Yunan and he got annoyed... he dunno how to explain. Should send him back to learn better manners before coming back here again. Otherwise, the place is ok ok only.... Not really worth the travel if you stay in the East side.

A quiet and out of way garden park inside NTU campus. There are 2 main sections. The newer section with the lake and walkway bridges and children playground is further inside. You can see The Hive, waterfall, fountains, ponds, pavilions, willows, and eight Chinese characters on the slopes and get bitten by mosquitoes. If you need a good and quiet place for relaxing walk you can go there in the evening. The park is open 24 hours but it quite dark at night due to insufficient artifical lighting.
