This park is part of the Singapore Botanical Gardens but it separated by a road. It is only several months old and not many people seem to know about it so there were no crowds which was nice. The place looks and feels new. There is an art gallery (of plants) in one of the colonial houses and an information center on Singapore's eco biodiversity with some bits of history thrown in at the other building. There is a children's playground with a short walking trail that connects everything together. Seems like a great place for families and casual walks. The landscape is slightly hilly too which makes it a good workout if that is your sort of thing.

Picnic @Gallop Extension @Botanic Gardens Today was not busy for lunch and we had an ideal weather for a picnic: not too shiny, no rain (well just some rain drops fell but stoped fast), not hot. We like to come here for a picnic and enjoy the breeze of the end of the afternoon.

Went there when they just opened. There were 2 main buildings which are quite not on the same locations, but within walking distance. So don't spend time on 1 building only. Overall a nice place for kid to spend their time and learn something about plants. Overall I would recommend to go during peak hour as you may have to queue outside before you can enter these buildings.

This is an extension behind Orchid garden of the Singapore Botanic Garden right across the street to where tour buses usually parked. There is a nice walkway winding through this part with a children playground along the way, and eventually popped out near Woolerton and eventually Farrer Road near the MRT station.

Finally opened! Nice new area with interesting plants along the sides. There's a playground, a discovery area, and a small art gallery in a colonial building too. Recommended to pay a visit when you're at botanic garden

Visited the Gallop Extension and went away impressed. It is not a very big place, the car park is relatively smaller but the colonial houses on the ground is beautiful and well restored. House 5 is now a forest discovery centre. House 7 is now a Botanical Art Gallery. These houses situated on top of a small hill afford visitors a good view of the surroundings and a perfect place for picnic.

Gorgeous landscape(great for picnics), beautiful architectural buildings (inventurret and Atbara which were the former French ambassador residence and embassy). In the buildings were well curated exhibits, relaxing veranda and interactive stations for kids. The museum exhibits are lovely and the place a good respite from the heat.

Beautiful garden with different plant species and huge trees. Lakes and water features add to the charm. We walked from MRT all the way to Orchid Garden. Well worth a visit. Beautiful orchids everywhere.

(Translated by Google) A good place for leisure This park is a newly added park. Although it is open, some of the construction is not complete. In short, it is also good for a family or a small family to come here to exercise and run. (Original) 休闲好去处 这公园是新添加的园区 虽然开放了 但一些建设还没完善 总之 一家老小或者来这边运动跑步也不错🦧

So beautiful, natural walk, birds, forest monitors etc. The forest discover Centre is worth to visit. The building and the surroundings make you feel like you are in overseas for holidays.

New extension to Singapore Botanic Garden (SBG). Small carpark available at the Gallop Extension, alternatively park across in SBG and walk 700m. Entrance to the black and white bungalow is a 10 mins walk laced with sparsely garden path. A big playground meet you at the base and a long staircase up brings you to a cafe and behind the cafe is the black and white bungalow museum. Nice place to spend 1-2hrs of your time, nothing that shout out for your return again.

Picturesque and actually not crowded on a Thursday morning, despite it being publicised recently on local media, what a winner! The cafe, Bees Knees, was the only crowded part of the extension. Seems like kids will like the playground as it has swings and long slides. For those driving, the road network around this attraction is currently barricaded so I believe you’ll have to park opposite at the main Botanic Gardens. For those coming by public transport, it’ll be good to come by bus to “After Ministry of Foreign Affairs” bus stop, cross the overhead bridge to Tyersall Ave and walk all the way until you see the sign. Be cautious!! as I nearly accidentally stepped on a snake 😂 It’s a pretty forested road. I’ve heard that people find this place difficult to find, I think it’s pretty straightforward as long as you access it by Tyersall...

A large spacious well-maintained park with a lake. Neat and clean walking and jogging track. Away from the busy city life. Pleasant ambience for evening family time. Much needed nature and calm environment.

A perfect place to get away from the busy city life in the city! Explored the Gallop Road side of the botanic garden. The ex French ambassy and the French ambassador's residence were turned into art and nature exhibition venue. It's nice to be able to walk into the mock Tudor style black & white bungalow and have a close view at the architectural. The National Orchid Garden is also one of my favourite places to visit. Just these two places took me 4 hrs. Do bring along a hat and water bottle when you visit. Weather can be hot n humid.

Gallop Extension has been a go-to location for many wedding photographers and for good reason. The unique architecture of the buildings combined with the nearby wide open spaces and lush greenery provide the perfect backdrop for any pre-wedding shoot. I find the area extremely rich in compositional potential, having a myriad of eye-catching natural elements and architectural details. Definitely keep this location in mind for your wedding shoots or any photo shoot in general.

This enchanting extension invites you to unwind amidst its natural beauty. Meander along winding pathways shaded by majestic trees, providing a cooling canopy from the tropical sun. Listen to the gentle rustling of leaves in the breeze, creating a peaceful ambiance that accompanies your every step.

Slightly different from the other areas of botanic gardens. The hilltop has lovely restored colonial houses which are ideal wedding photo locations. If you want to do a picnic overlooking the city, this is likely it.

I really recommend visiting this area of the garden. It is gorgeous. The centerpiece of this area are the two historic black and white bungalows on top of a small hill, which serve as exhibition areas for botanic artwork, architectural history and nature-related exhibits. Really well done with magnificent views of the verdant houses surrounding the gardens. It was very quiet in this section of the garden, so a very special experience. You can catch a Grab at the Gallop Extension Visitor Counter after a steamy visit. The Botanic Gardens richly deserve a couple of visits to take it all in.

The Singapore Botanic Gardens Gallop Extension is a new area of the gardens that was recently opened. The current area that is open is rather small. More areas of the Gallop Extension will only open in the year 2020. Currently, visitors are able to explore the Mingxin Foundation Ramblers' Ridge and the OCBC Arboretum. To access the Ramblers' Ridge, one would have to climb at least 20 stone steps to gain access to the top. The stone steps are on both the entrance/exit portions of the ridge, so if you climb up from one side, you have to go down the same way or from the other exit (that also has stone steps). The OCBC Arboretum is in its infancy at the moment. There are many dipterocarpus trees planted there. The trees are very young, so there isn't much shade. It's worth a visit if you are really interested in the types of dipterocarpus trees and what a man-made montane forest would look like. The whole Gallop Extension will be much for fun and exciting when the 2 black and white bungalows are open in year 2020. They contain botanical specimens and botanical illustrations from the Botanic Garden archives. Car park lots are limited in this new extension. Only 30 car park lots. I have uploaded photos of the car park area, so do check them out.

The newly opened extension of Singapore Botanic Gardens (SBG), featuring the Mingxin Foundation Rambler’s Ridge that will lead you to the highest point of SBG and OCBC Arboretum, a high tech tree research place. Located at 10 to 15 minutes walk away from the National Orchid Garden and Learning Forest. The entrance is right opposite the Tyersall Gate of SBG. More features will be opened in 2020

Beautiful new extension of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Nice hilly green area with beautiful heritage buildings. Parking space is limited, but the parking options on the other side is an extra 5 min short walk.

  • 5/5 Emilie Y. 2 years ago on Google
Quiet and less crowded Sunday walk in the park. The extension has undulating slopes and a botany centre to find respite in the heat. There’s a Bees Knees cafe that is open for takeaway for those requiring their caffeine fix! Very easy walk along the paths. 👍🏻

This is SBG’s newest extension and it is absolutely fantastic! It is a nice new area that is at the back of Gallop Rd. Parking is limited so I would suggest parking at the National Orchid Garden and walk over. There are plenty of picnic places and playgrounds for families to enjoy. I would highly recommend this area to those who have young kids!
