We’ve just arrived to Singapore and headed straightaway before the check-in to this breakfast place ♥️ Couldn’t imagine a better coffee shop serving a traditional Kaya Toast 🍞 and Singaporean Coffee ☕️ (super sweet Kopi!) The service was lovely and the place also got busy with locals around 8am which made our morning! 🥰 Definitely worth experiencing while in SG 🇸🇬🙌🏽 THANK YOU!

Hot beverages come in two sizes - a real cuppa for sure . And thin crunchy kaya toast. The soft boiled eggs are timed so accurately to a subtle creaminess with the whites opaque and orange yolks flowing through with a light touch from a teaspoon. Nothing can beat the satisfying action of tearing bits of toast to wipe the saucer clean . The last bit of egg and toast is always so delicious washed down with a slurp of coffee that I am tempted to repeat the order. Accomodating, patient and warm aunties and uncles make one feel like we are visiting a hospitable home. Truly a heritage and tradition that we must patronise and cherish

Very rude male staff. When we checked in we show the female stall our vaccinated status but the male staff was not there. When he came to the counter he demands to see our checked in. I told him that we had shown it to the Staff already When he wasn't around. He said the precisely that he was not around he need to see our checked in again despite the female staff telling him to stop it. Rightfully if I'm not wrong they should have a staff at the entrance checking vaccinated before a customer even go into the shop. By the time an infected person go into the staff the person would have infected others.

A long hair toast making aunty was very rude, I ordered a set from the cashier counter , while waiting for milk tea, cashier said my bread was ready, I went to collect realised that the bread was in the paper bag but I was dining in, when I went to tell the cashier, the toast maker said the toast in the paper bag was mine, so I thought she made a mistake that I wanted to take away ,I just collected the bread and went to my seat cos I feel its OK to eat from paper bag. Then suddenly the bread maker come to my table and ask if I am dining in ,I thought her service very good that she planned to change it into plate ,ended up she said the bread was not mine ,then she said why I took the bread in the paper bag when I was dining in , she said she asked me if I was dining In before I collected ,in actual fact she didn't asked any question and just said the bread was mine before I collected .and she didn't apologise at all and assuming was my mistake ,it really spoilt my Sunday morning

I always love it! Love kaya toast with butter so much. You can choice either set or ala carte menu. Their half boiled egg is great if you like it. They sell other drinks menu beside roast bread. Their coffee is just so so, nothing special. They have indoor and outdoor seat, outdoor seat will be less comfort for summer. self-service is apply. Will be little crowded at lunch, but you will not wait too long, they have express service. The price is quite cheap, half price cheaper than Ya Kun Kaya in my country. There are Ice cream stall next to it, sell ice cream and other snack.

Lady at the counter not friendly and impatient. Coffee didn't taste as good as years ago. Drastic changes on the quality of the coffee. Good points on the toastwich, is a sub for your usual kaya butter toast.

Personally, I enjoyed Ya Kun Kaya Toast more than Toast Box. I purchased the Kaya Toast Set A which at the time of writing this review was $6.30. It is $0.10 more than Toast Box. With the set you get to choose your choice of drink being hot/cold Tea (Teh) or Coffee (Kopi). Note that both options you can choose the plain/O/C (I advise asking which one contains milk + sugar/condensed milk). If you order iced drinks there is an additional surcharge of $1. I also suggest trying their Pandan Chiffon cake and Kaya Butter Crackers. Overall very delicious and great bang for your buck!

I had their butter sugar toast set while my friend had the Kaya toast set. He's having coffee while I change mine to Chinese tea. I love their butter sugar toast, taste great! But the Chinese tea not so much as it smells of jasmine.

Actually, this restaurant already exists in Jakarta, but it won't be complete if you don't visit the original place.

Stumbled upon this cafe while looking for breakfast near the Sultan Mosque, and it was delicious! The toast is very crunchy but very soft inside, and the butter filling melts in my mouth. The half-cooked eggs are also bouncy and very tasty. The tea is also fresh and thick, very delicious! No regrets trying Yakun Kaya Toast.

We orders toast for breakfast here. Food was amazing and quickly done for us. Since they are local their cuisine is customised to their needs. Overall the food is amazing I would say. Fairly priced which is the key.

Yakun is my go to places for kaya toast and iced coffee! First time trying at beach road branch, the taste and quality always good in my opinion.

If the gold standard for Kaya toast and eggs is Toast Box than ya kun is silver at best. Slow service when it comes to waiting for your toast and the eggs aren’t done as perfectly as toast box.

This is the only food I like in Singapore 😝 Can’t finish the Value Set Meal so I just ordered Kaya Toast a la carte + Cold Tea-C.

Amazing experience. I love experiencing a country through its food and if you do too, then you can't miss breakfast at Kaya toast. I had the standard A set which cost around 5 dollars (kaya toast, 2 eggs and coffee). My husband had the D set which was french toast with cheese which was also great. Love love love, 100 percent recommended!

It was great during my Singapore travel in 2018. I haven’t found this taste in Korea even with Kaya jam that I bought when I come back to Korea. I’ve eatten Kaya Toast in Malyasia but it wasn’t that taste. I miss this food.

A perfectly good ya Kun serving food, though the furniture was a bit dated

The toast is thin and crisp, kaya paste is not too sweet. Normally I don’t like soft boiling eggs, I am afraid of some of eggs have an unpleasant taste, maybe because it’s not fresh. But their are not.

The usual must-eat-when-you're-in-SG place. Really enjoyed my late breakfast here, great atmosphere and location.

The service here is appalling. The cashier was pushy and was overtly exasperated when we literally took 5 seconds to decide drinks. Mind you there was no one else in line. When I asked how much was the total, she just took the money out of my hands instead of replying (the cashier screen was obstructed by the credit card machine). Food was standard, no complaints but with this kind of service, really don’t care if you have the best food in Singapore would still not recommend.

The authentic taste of Singapore, i really love the Kaya Toast, half boiled egg and the beverage (tea tarik). I adore the store exterior that preserve the old building, and the taste of the food was delicious.

Local Singaporean breakfast spot. Coffee taste strong enough and the toast is crispy and crunchy 👍🏻

  • 5/5 Kathy L. 10 months ago on Google
Somehow I feel the coffee here is nicer, old school atmosphere is good as well, probably a Yakun with most tourists. Given many tourists here, I would expect the staffs here be a bit more patient to explain to tourists, eg how to order, they would need to collect their drinks first but food later etc. They are not regular customers so they will not understand the process flow. It would help to leave a good impression behind for our tourists if we are more friendly and helpful.

A very reasonably priced place to start your day with a traditional breakfast. Fast service too. I really enjoyed the tea and people in our party who like eggs said they were good.

It is just another branch of Ya Kun. You can expect same as other locations. If you are a visitor, then Ya Kun is one of local favorite kopi tiam (coffeehouse) which serves local style coffee along with half-boiled eggs and kaya (egg custard) toast. If you are in Singapore, you should try it.

It was slightly crowded when I arrived around 2pm on a Sunday. Lots of cyclists and visitors like to stop here for refreshments. Limited indoor seating but there's outdoor seating so that's good, although it can get very hot in the afternoon as the outdoor seating is next to the road. Staff were efficient and quick to serve despite the queue.

The Ice tea and kopi here are not nice. Taste like brew and left for quite a while

I ordered set A but I asked not to serve my the eggs because I didn’t feel like having it, but I was still charged with the full price of 5.6 SGD. Anyway, the toast was crispy and buttery, the iced milk tea is good.

First breakfast of our Singapore trip and nothing could top it! Kaya toast and peanut toast were crispy and ratios spot on. Soft boiled eggs delicious and kopi sweet and strong. A must try if you're visiting Singapore.
