Yesterday we took a nature walk on Kusu Island. Plenty of nature to see and no monkeys to make a nuisance of themselves... The centrepiece of the Island is the Da Bong Gong Temple. But around this from both ends of the island there is an abundance of nature. I saw a pair of Brahminy kites, several collared kingfishers from which I was able to locate one of their nests, Pacific swallows, Javan mynas, Eurasian sparrows, Oriental (or paddy field) pipits and an Oriental magpie robin. Plenty of tortoises. Interesting long legged flies - bright metallic green. The Keramat Kusu Temple is presently closed due to a landslide in January. There is a turtle monument in the centre of the island.

We simply love this beautiful island. It's our 1st time going there, book our tickets thru Klook apps & on top of that we receive $3 Gongcha vouchers,so simple & hassle free transactions. Our first ferry time slot was 0900hrs and we depart from the island around 1800hrs. (Last ferry home to mainland-Singapore).Don't be late or u going to missed the ferry.😀 And oh ya,don't forget to pack your own foods & a lot of drinks as there will be no stall or vending machine to be found there.Great for family to relax, fishing & swim by the beaches.A lot of shady shelter,so u guys don't have to worry a bit. We manage to visits the shrines as well & did a brisk walk too.Hot sunny day doesn't stop our family to swim till we turn to toast.#Sunburn😅 We will surely visit the island again soon.⛱️☺️👍 #KlookAppsExclusives11.11 #06Nov2021Sat #SingaporeIslandCruise&FerryService #Fishing #Swimming #VisitTemple&Shrines #BriskWalk #LastFerryToMainlandSingapore

Kusu Island is a very calm and nice place to have a Picknick, a few drinks, a good book while enjoying the quiteness and calmness from the city. There are two temples on it, giving the island the name: Turtle island 🐢🏝️ No shops! You have to bring everything on your own. Easy to reach via ferry (~9 SGD per roundtrip) with a stop to St John's/ Lazarus island.

Take a 15min ferry ride from Marina South Pier $20/pax to Kusu Island (Tortoise Island) during the pilgrimage period Oct and Nov. Great 1/2 picnic out for old folks, couples and family. Benches and huts line the coast. Idyllic little island with a unique Datuk Gong Karamat (Karamat = Shrine; Datuk = Uncle in Malay; Gong Grandfather in Chinese). Done up nicely ever since a fire broke out in 202, burning 70% of the century old karamat located on a 150 step hill. Find raising is still ongoing to build a roof. During this annual season, sheltered walkways, lots of event ushers to guide the crowd (8am ferry, didn’t experience any congestion or crowd). No rush. Lifeguards, friendly medics and now boasts a mini hawker centre which operates during these two months. Deemed as a shipping hazard in the past, almost made into a common burial ground for poor workers, and legend has it that those who help others around this island receives great fortune from the gods. Ask and you will receive. Remember to repay with your offering. Give a thumbs up if u found this post useful 😃

Nice place to swim. Small island. They seem to be building a food court which might make this place less peaceful.

Excellent spot for friends and family picnic. I liked Kusu more than SJI & Lazarus. I took Marina South Ferries and directly went to Kusu.

It’s about 20-30mins by ferry via marina south pier. And about 15 mins via St John island. The island is really clean and well kept. Nice spots for picnic with lotsa pavilions for shelter. Also a small beach if you like to take a dip.

Bring the mat, load up the picnic basket and head to the small but beautiful Kusu Island.  A great place for family outing……relaxing at the beach, enjoying sea breeze, catching Singapore skyline or a picnic in one of the several hut or cabanas. Toilets and outdoor shower facilities are available

Not interesting at all, disappointed. 1. All the rest areas were occupied by the same group of people 2. Just so so-views 3. All the water has dried up and can’t swim 4. Horribly impolite crew who in charge of guiding the guests, he insulted people loudly in the public because of his own mistakes, unacceptable

A beautiful and tranquil island, Kusu Island is right besides Lazarus Island. Short half an hour ferry ride either direct from Marina South Pier or St. John island. A short getaway from the hustle and bustle of city to enjoy the sea breeze and tranquility. There is a Chinese Temple besides the jetty and Malay shrines on top on of a small hill.

There are 2 temples here and both have offering stations. Each incense package is $4. Bring plenty of coins there too for the wishing well.

Quiet island with a small patch of beach, BBQ pit and some pavilions. Cleanliness can be improved as there are trashes here and there.

Enjoy the journy inside the sea. The location is awsome full of nature. The attractive part is the journy to that island.

Giant turtle sculptures, the old Chinese temple, a stroll along the beach and rocks, and meeting the "locals", i.e. huge turtle family, all being fun things to do.

Ohh the best one of the Southern Islands! Clean, fresh and empty lagoons to swim. Clean and well maintained washrooms, open showers, tap to wash sandy legs, shaded sitting areas, a cute tortoise sanctuary, a Chinese temple and oh well, a cold drinks shop inside the temple! - none of these are present on the other islands but this has it all. Must go and spend the most amount of time as compared to other ones. There are no direct ferries to this mostly so you have to reach here via St John's.

Second time here after many many years. Not much changes to the island. But there seems to be a lot of construction ongoing on the island. The datok shrine is under maintenance and people are not allowed to climb up the hills...chinese temple is still open though. The ferry system in kusu is slightly better than on St John. Not as chaotic when queuing up for your ferry ride.

Nice quiet island.. can see mainland. Very peaceful and a good place to relax. If the tourism board can develop the island tp have more activities, it will be nice. Maybe can introduce river taxi for island hopping which will make it more fun and cheaper so that it will encourage more visit to these island?

Pleasant day trip away from the skyscrapers, people and lifestyle on the Singaporean "mainland". Not the most exciting place you'll ever visit, but good for a little wander and just a short ferry ride away (take the ferry from Marina South Pier). Giant turtle sculptures, the old Chinese temple, a stroll along the beach and rocks, and meeting the "locals", i.e. huge turtle family, all being fun things to do.

Touristy island, enough to come here once haha. Theres a chinese temple here! If you wanna swim, better go to lazarus island, even though the facilities are more complete here, with proper washroom and showers. Plus drinks are sold here.

For a short weekend escape. See quite a number of people picnic there as there are few shelters available.

Another Island which you can continue ti visit after visiting St. John’s Island. This island doesn’t have much to explore. But the uniqueness is a temple and lot of turtle. Well maintained place and have the facilities of restrooms. But no options to buy food. Make sure you carry your food along when visiting these islands

My wife and friends went there to relax on a Sunday. There are two lagoons to swim in. On the island there are also two temples. One is a Chinese Temple, the other is a Malay Datok Temple. The Chinese Temple is just on the right side of the pier. The Malay Datok temple is also on the right side but it’s on the top of a small hill. You will have to climb up 159 steps of staircase to reach it. There is also a Tortoise sanctuary on the right side of the pier. Basically Picnic , swimming, relaxing, praying 🙏 and fishing 🎣. This are the main activities on the island 🏝. Kusu Island 🏝 meaning Tortoise Island. If u have not been there before. It’s actually quite nice to make a trip there with family and friends. Plenty of shelters. They have BBQ PITS too. Kindly take note. Do not swim anywhere other then within the lagoon. Sea water current flowing around the island is quite fast. Drowning possibilities are quite high. Stay safe , swim within the protection of the lagoon stone wall. Have fun 🤩 people.
