Sri
Veeramakaliamman
Temple
in
Singapore,
Little
India
area
is
one
of
the
oldest
temples
situated
along
Serangoon
Road,
Little
India.
There
are
3
main
temples
in
that
stretch
of
main
road.
The
first
is
this
temple
followed
by
Srinivasa
Perumal
Temple
next
to
Farrer
Park
MRT
Station
and
near
City
Square
mall
and
than
Sir
Vadapathira
Kaliamman
Temple.
There
is
also
a
Lakshmi
Narayana
Temple,
walking
distance
from
the
TEKKA
market/hawker
centre
behind
Buffalo
and
Race
course
roads.
Sri
Verakaliaman
Temple
is
dedicated
to
Amman
the
consort
of
Shiva.
Various
forms
of
Amman
is
seen
as
the
deity
protecting
us
from
the
evils.
Hindu
concept
is
entrached
in
the
oneness
of
the
formless
primordial
force
as
God
or
Brahman..
a
vast
unexplainable
power.
The
concept
is
explained
in
laymen
terms
as
in
Trinity
(G.O.D
=
Giver,
Observer
and
Destroyer
of
evils)
and
consorts
that
may
sometimes
be
depicted
in
fierce
worldly
forms,
like
the
Periyachi
Amman
deity
seen
in
this
Temple
for
example.
This
deity
is
especially
depicted
in
a
fierce
incarnation
to
give
strength
to
the
believers
that
while
the
deity
is
kind
and
listens
to
the
believers
it
protects
all
Righteous
people
and
especially
young
children.
That
is
why
babies
around
a
month
old
are
brought
here
to
be
blessed
by
this
deity.
Just
like
a
person
can
be
a
mother,sister,
grandmother
to
various
family
members
but
the
person
is
one
and
the
same,
God
is
given
different
names
and
personification.
For
example
fishermen
may
have
their
own
diety
as
they
go
out
to
the
deep
sea
in
their
boats...Agricultural
related
farmers
have
their
own
deity.
Families
have
their
own
deity
which
is
seen
as
a
culmination
of
God
and
their
ancestors
in
a
sublime
immortal
power
guiding
ad
protecting
them
generation
after
generation.
Sri
Veerama
Kaliamman
is
widely
followed
deity
as
a
protector
and
guide
who
is
believed
to
work
miracles
via
one's
own
subconscious
mind.
Offerings
of
fruits
and
flowers
are
presented
and
offerings
of
food,
prepared
within
the
temple,
is
distributed
to
the
congregation.
Tourists
and
visitors
are
kindy
requested
to
dress
appropriately..
i.e
with
long
pants
or
dresses.
There
are
shawls,
in
a
box
outside
the
entrance,
to
those
who
come
unprepared.
No
footwear..people
may
wear
socks
if
they
need
to.
The
floor
can
be
wet
at
some
points
due
to
water
from
washing
areas
around
the
sanctum.
It's
optional
to
receive
blessings
from
the
priest..who
may
offer
white
holy
ash,
red
turmeric
or
flowers.
Pls
do
be
mindful
of
the
pious
congregation
when
taking
photos...avoid
photos
with
flash.
Blessings
to
all.
