The coffee is great here and the environment is nice. The thing that I don't understand is why the staffs here are so rude and unfriendly?? Does the management understand that friendly service is important especially for a good nice cafe? Why the management here still hiring staffs that do not treat the customer well and serves with a smile on their face? Is the world of service, it's important to make customer feels different and welcome. When we walked into the cafe, we were happy and enjoying each other company. All the happiness immediately went away when the staff came over and served us. There was no smile or friendliness to the customer. Every question asked was replied with non-welcome tone and seriously not helpful at all. If the staffs are not happy working there, why is the management still hiring them? It was supposed to be a nice gathering with my friends from overseas but unfortunately, with such poor service from the staffs here, how can I recommend this cafe as one of the best in Singapore!! Usually, I'll leave very positive feedback in my review but for this review, I'm sad that it's only 1x star. I seriously hope to see improvement in near future.

Located at second floor of Scott’s square. The place seemed to have good potential to be a solid coffee shop, especially with the on site roaster and wine on tab lol. However unfortunately my experience was not great. I wanted a light snack to go along with my coffee. Ordered the passion fruit cruffin. It was cold and a bit stale. Then I waited for my coffee… and I waited… we asked waitress to check on our order… then I waited… my dates coffee came after twenty minutes… then I waited… then my coffee finally arrived after half hour. So… probably won’t visit again. And certainly don’t recommend.

Best coffee place ever. Never disappoints. Expect to spend around $80 for 2 I had the Cheese burger and affogato coffee. Both were excellent. Partner tried crab Chilly pasta, which was average at best. Yuzu tea was lovely. Staff and service has improved greatly. Staff has become friendlier and cheerful, which is new. Great coffee shop, definitely upclass. New Visit: April 2022 Never been disappointed with this place. The staff is friendly, food looks and feels fresh, vibe matches with the coffee culture and place is very Instagram. The prices are high because of the location in prime Scott square mall and also because of the popularity of this place. But Burpple offers 1 for 1 so makes it a good deal. Service can be a bit slow as they are always understaffed. If you can handle that, then all is good here. Expect around 80 for 2 with a drink each.

My 3rd time going to this place. Absolutely love the coffee, food and ambience. This time I was there at around 3pm on a Saturday. There isn't a crowd so it was good. Ordered my fav curly fries, an all day breakfast, churros and couple of interesting coffees. Still my fav afternoon tea place. Good place for couples or smaller groups.. even solo as well!

Food was average and definitely not worth the full price. Had the Academics Breakfast which costs $28, but the scrambled eggs were dry, the mushrooms were dry, the bacon was over cooked the the brioche toast old and dry. Baked beans out of a can. Friend had the salmon hash brown option, and the hash brown was not bad. Coffee was bad for a place that prides itself on its coffee. Ambience is nice though. Service was also appalling. We were not told of the 1.5h time limit and when the time was up, one of the waitresses rudely chased us out even though there were empty seats around and no queue. Our dishes were also served 10 minutes apart which is a bit odd for a cafe setting. Waiter cleared our food when we were still eating (fork was literally pierced into the food for the next bite..) Overall, possibly worth a try with the 1 for 1, but definitely not worth the full price.

The full breakfast was very good! Baked beans are so tasteful and yum. Service was inconsistent though, the staff with printed t-shirt who asked me how many people was kind of rude and pushy, as he was talking in an impatient tone. But another staff who served me food was very nice and was patiently introducing me to different food choices when asked. Overall food is good, service from good staff was good, probably want to make it consistent bc this can really hurt the brand.

Great meal!! Really love the smoked salmon and hash. They really nail it. However the staff should be more careful with serving the food and take care of proper hygiene. The waitress’ nails were quite long and her nail was touching the salad while she was serving the food. Also realise that her hand was at the brim while holding of the cup ( where we place our mouth area ). Don’t get me wrong! Her service is still good and she is fast. However, all in all a good experience! Just need to take note :)) will come back again !

Items ordered: Academics Breakfast ($28), and Coffee w Fresh milk on the side (~$7.50) Academics Breakfast: Eggs with truffle slices were very fragrant and fluffy I usually am not particularly fond of baked beans but Coffee Academics have stir fried the baked beans with onions and was actually pretty good. Toast was thick and fluffy, good match with the runny scrambled eggs and sausage. Sausage and Halloumi cheese were pretty mediocre on their own. The candied bacon was very sweet, but did have its own charm so I was fairly happy with it. Coffee with fresh milk: Found it cute that they served the milk in a small shot glass, I suppose I could have dumped the milk in the coffee and I drank them separately since I prefer black coffee. Their coffee was a tad bit sour in my opinion. All in all, was a great ambience and experience, but pretty overpriced.

Even though the food and coffee here were great, the customer service could be better to improve the overall dining experience. This restaurant served many special coffee definitely awesome for all coffee lovers. They have All day breakfast menu. Use the entertainer card here to get 1 for 1 deal. Restaurant is also nicely renovated and very cosy for meet ups. Food is also awesome as you can see from my pictures attached.

The breakfast plate and avacado toast were not bad, but the pizza was meh and the salmon pasta was not good. It reminded me of the microwave pastas from 7-eleven. Food was a little pricey too, so I would only recommend coming if you are able to get the 1 for 1 deals through burpple.

The cozy interior is really an awesome place to chill but what a pity that the outlet's last day is on the 31st of October. The coffee and finger food were great too!👍🏻 Thank you dear Muzz and team(Winnie, Racheal, Queenie, Felix, Lahiru, Affan) for being super attentive and making us feel so welcomed like special VIPs! 🙏👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️ Smiley faces really make our day!🙆‍♀️ Hope to see this WONDERFUL team in another outlet soon!😍

Great coffee and mediocre food. We were excited to try out this place after it being recommended to us. Things were ok but service was very much lacking. The kitchen forgot to prepare J’s linguine and when we asked for it the waitlist never came back to let us know. Eventually it turned up and was quite underwhelming. My academics breakfast was ok but they got my eggs wrong. And the scrambled eggs are doused in fake truffle oil. Coffee was brilliant though. So next time we will just come for that.

(Translated by Google) I visited the cafe because it was big and it was okay to use a computer Maybe because of the corona, the second floor was closed and only the first floor was opened. So, I visited around 3 o'clock and there was no room at the cafe Told me to wait outside There were almost no outlets in the cafe I can only use Wi-Fi for an hour per device... So I turned on the hotspot and tried to use the computer.. And one of the staff who can speak English...? I think it only works. I went to the counter to ask for something, but I couldn't answer what the staff asked and called another staff...

Had The Academics Breakfast, as pictured. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I didn't expect what was served. It wasn't bad by any means, but t wasn't $28 worth either. The Entertainer 1 for 1 offer made it more palatable. Will not return nor recommend.

Decided to try out somewhere new for breakfast with my sis as we are both huge fans of brunch and breakfast sets. Food is great, but service really needs to improve. It was so bad until the point my sister said she rather finish eating than keep getting the attention of the service crew. There were about 20+ people in the cafe on a Monday morning at 10:30am but there was only one service crew on duty - definitely understaff. Come here for the food, but don’t expect customer service.

The simpler an order, the more important for right balance and acidity. That was exactly what The Coffee Academics delivered in my long black. Have the fish tacos and linguine. Reasonably priced and delicious!!

The breakfast is nice.. its infuse with Truffle oil.. so you will taste a bit of truffle. They are quite short of staff between 9 to 10am.. so might have a short wait of 10 min though the place is not full house yet..

There’s a 2 pax set for 60++ which is a great deal (vs paying full price) - you get to choose 1 side, 2 mains (breakfast/pasta/pizza) and 2 drinks, with option to top up desserts at 50% off. We ordered the crabmeat curly fries, coffee breakfast and prawn pasta, along with chocolate brownie and churros. All the dishes and desserts were mediocre, I don’t think it’s worth the price. Only coffee and service were great. Would come back for coffee, but not food.

Great place to chill and hangout with friends. The Coffee Academics serves a wide range of coffee. So far, this is our fav TAC outlet. Most of the all day breakfast portions re considerably huge. The miso salmon pasta and umami pasta are delicious. We have the entertainer app, which offers 1 for 1 main, which makes the meal very worth it.

The egg was VERY soft boiled and not as cooked as I would have preferred my poached eggs to be, or rather as poached eggs are usually served (in my experience). The English muffin as well was very small in comparison to the salmon and egg. Lastly the hollandaise sauce I suspect was made with olive oil and was more like an aioli sauce instead (the sauce had an overwhelming taste of olive oil which I found to be really distracting). Overall a disappointment really as I've enjoyed meals here in the past.

Apart from the wait, this is a great place to chill and hangout with your friends or have an afternoon tea. The coffee quality is great, and definitely much better than Starbucks across the road. Service is also good, as the team actually made a table or standing spot available although they were fully utilized.

Expensive cafe. Ordered a Dirty and it just wasnt done right. They made it with a triple ristretto and no layers whatsoever. Maybe i'm just particular about my Dirty but if there's no layer, it's not made right. I might as well order a latte with no ice. 2nd item ordered was an affogato. Dont know why the espresso came in a cup. Clumsy people like me will def not get the whole thing in the cup of "gelato" aka vanilla ice cream. Also, to add on, the espresso has a lack of crema. Dont even wanna get started with their customer service. Took us about 5mins to get someone's attention to order meanwhile pretty couples gets it immediately.

Had lunch here on a Saturday and experience was great. Service was good, food came quick and had nice ambience. Umami pasta - like the name suggests, full of seafoody umami goodness. Would recommend if you don't mind some sodium in your system. Would be back to try more. Their desserts look good. Best if got entertainers or burpple.

I will love to bring my whole family out to the coffee academics for their coffee as no doubts that their coffee is amazing but how does the food fairs? Thanks to @entertainersg, we managed to get 1-for-1 mains and it is definitely worth the money! We ordered miso salmon pasta and the classic cheese burger. Both of us like how light the miso pasta tastes, but the salmon was slightly on the drier side, but the skin isn't crispy at all 😕 while the classic cheeseburger tasted average but not exactly value for money. With the entertainer app, definitely make this trip worth it, otherwise we won't be very disappointed with them. Satisfaction : 🤤 🤤 🤤 🤤 Price: $28++ Location : @thecoffeeacademicssg Follow IG @FoodyTiff for daily food review

REALLY DISAPPOINTED by the queue system management and the staff. I went there on Sat 06th Sept. at 1pm. (If it's the flagship outlet, i'm wondering how are the regular branches ...) I register on the waitlist announcing 45mn of waiting time by leaving my number. Around 1:40pm i come back near the outlet. I wait for around 10mn and ask the person at the entrance how long the waiting remaining before i can get a sit. Then the staff rudely replied i tried to call you 2x you never pick up so no table for you. Then i told him i didn't receive any call, and after checking with him he got confused by my writing and dialed 9 instead of 4 ... No apologies, he said he'll squeeze me in for next table. In the meantime 2 tables of 4 pax were left empty for 20mn ... same for inside ... 4 groups went over me and the staff was just trying to avoid me calling other customers to come instead ... After waiting 20mn in front of the restaurant, the staff never came to me, neither called me on my phone ... I highly suspect that the staff did it on purpose since i was waiting outside ... In the end, i went eating elsewhere, after wasting my time for 1h15mn ....

Last Monday morning had brunch at Coffee Academics Scotts Square. We were quite disappointed with the attitude of the staff who gave us a table at the foyer, near the entrance. My request for seating inside the cafe was turned down by her and because of my insistence , l managed to locate a table which two guests just moved away to another table. The staff was lacklustre in service and not friendly. Perhaps , the cafe is shorthanded or is a Monday blue, as we had problem also in getting the attention of staff for service while seated. Fortunately both our breakfast of Smoked salmon and The Academics breakfast were good. We were very pleased with the friendly service of the cashier when we settled our bill. He was the only guy who served us with a smile. Overall, the cafe has a beautiful interior and a cozy atmosphere which makes it a good place to chill , but the integral part of the cafe, ie , customer service needs to improve.

Went there intending to have quick cup of coffee, was turned away because we only needed a table for two, there were at least 4 available tables both indoors and outdoors which weren’t reserved but told us they were only for groups of 4. So they essentially turned away 2 paying customers in hopes of getting their tables filled by multiple groups of 4 when there was no one else in queue.

Got turned down as a party of 2 even with multiple(!!!) vacant tables because they were tables for 4. There was nobody in queue and they asked us to wait 20-30 minutes? How inflexible can you be that you’d rather turn down customers than give the available table

Had the rosy nose and sweet little rain. Rosy has a nice and non-sweet fragrance which tastes really smooth and complex, not the syrupy kind. Sweet little rain is just coffee but the presentation makes for a great picture. I recommend this place if you can sit for awhile and can afford it.

  • 3/5 Terence O. 2 years ago on Google
Did not get the fundamentals right. Double espresso was extremely sour and acidic, probably extracted at too low a temperature. Cappuccino had too much milk in proportion to the coffee, with a thick creamy layer of foam on top. Almost like a latte with a thick head of foam, instead of a properly proportioned cappuccino. After reading all the dazzling reviews, was extremely disappointed that the brews were more akin in quality to the mass market green brand.

A really chill place to hangout when its quieter. The menu is extensive enough to please a crowd and there are some creative coffees. The coffee portions are generous but they also cost a tad more. Small details like how the coffee cup handles well and real dessert forks are plus points. We had the Earl Grey lavender cake which was light and delicious. The coffee however, was just average.

Great coffee with a lovely ambience! I enjoyed the outdoor seats that are still nicely sheltered. Unfortunately the second floor was closed off during my visit due to safe-distancing measures; so do note the noise levels when it's crowded, especially because of the low ceiling. Nonetheless, Mellower is a must-visit! :)

Went to the one at Bugis, no seats available inside and outside, was told queue outside until they call me. One couple came just when a customer left, the girl went to chope and the guy went to order. I questioned the staff why they let them sit without queuing. They gave excuses of being busy etc. Obviously they were not screening their customers properly and was negligent in checking the queue, they were supposed to lead customers to the tables, and not let them jump queue. What's the point in making the couple give up their seats to me? It's embarrassing and unpleasant for both them and me. Obviously this seating system doesn't work and the staff ought to be more vigilant. No coffee tastes good enough to compensate for poor service and unpleasant experiences. The solution is so simple to me. Just put a notice on every table that says "Please join the queue and wait to be seated." then at the counter, staff will first ask if they were from the queue before checking for available seats, then taking the orders and leading them to their seats. There are also simple solutions for damage control which I will not mention here.

Other than doing typical coffees well, they also have good adventurous creations, like the Ondeh latte (ondeh ondeh plus espresso) and the Goth latte (bamboo plus charcoal). It’s a good place to chill and talk with friends. Bugis has many good cafés, but this one is a welcome new addition. Edit: I went back a few times. I enjoy the flat white and the cakes too. I like the coconut tart. Service is good.

The policy there is ridiculous. Wanted to take a comfortable chair, but the stuff didn't allow me without any reason. Enjoy your coffee, but not in this environment!

Such a bad experience at this cafe. Service staff came to us and said you have 10 minutes and I need this table back. I mean our cake and drink was only half through, and your staff could have properly and nicely mentioned that you need the table due to whatever reason you had, instead of rudely staring at us and warning “you have 10 minutes left???

Cool cafe just off Orchard, and as the name suggests, great signature coffees. Loved the Manuka Latte and the apple crumble. Will be back.

A little stressful with the time limit to dine. Personally feel that if the place is not at Covid-19 'full' capacity, then staff could exercise some flexibility. If not ambience and food was good.

Recommended if you have 1-for-1 on Burpple or entertainer . Otherwise, I believe there are better cafe food to enjoy Back here the second time for the Truffle Portobello Mushroom Pizza. Strong truffles and mushroom taste and crust was thin and crispy. Crispy Fish Fillet Tacos wasn’t the best I had (Lucha Loco at Tanjong Pagar is so far still the best), lack the freshness of onions so doubt I will be back here for more. And oh, please eat it while it’s hot. Otherwise the taco shell won’t be that nice Had Okinawa Coffee which tasted like chocolate milk (tasted like chocolate powder sprinkled on top of the milk foam and a very light coffee flavour - note that I’m not a coffee drinker and I alr felt that it’s a little light for me) Friend had Manuka (not in pic) and the honey flavour is pretty strong

Definitely on the pricier end for all items across their menu, but the items ordered felt worth its value. The Smoked Salmon & Hash ($24.50) had ingredients that meshed well together. The hash brown was crisp and thin enough that every bite didn’t seem a whole mouthful of starch. And it’s saltiness just enough to complement the smoky flavours of the salmon, as well as the touch of umami from the ikura and slight bitterness of the baby spinach leaves. Not to mention the lemon zest that makes the flavours of a seemingly simple dish more complex. Although, the poached egg did feel a little out of place, despite adding a gooey layer with the crispy bite. As for the Salted Caramel Apple Crumble ($19.50), the ratio of pastry to filling was perfectly balanced. Coupling caramelised apple slices with a crumbly pastry that feels as if it was just baked, not to mention the creamy notes of the vanilla gelato that gives a cooling texture to the warm dessert. The caramel sauce, however, seemed to be purposeful for those with a sweet tooth; the natural sweetness of the apples and raisins already suits the masses well enough. Last but not least, the Iced Latte ($7.00), though simple in its ingredients and name, justifies its price with the bitter notes. It doesn’t leave a bitter taste in one’s mouth for too long, and yet gives the perk one needs from a late afternoon beverage. Staff here are friendly and allow diners to sit for long hours, at least for the afternoon. Although certain spots in the inner seatings of the cafe are stuffy, but the outdoor seating within the mall is worth a try given the quiet atmosphere of Scotts Square. Given it’s the flagship branch, the design within the cafe is a feast for the eyes, not just its food.

I’ve been here a few times before but today was a bit of a shocker. As you can see from the picture of the receipt, we ordered at 11:43am on a Monday. I got my pancakes quite quickly about 15 mins later. We noticed at about 12:20 or so that my friend’s eggs royale was not served. The table behind us who came earlier had also asked for their food just about then. Soon after thankfully the eggs royale came. The waitress who delivered it put it quite a distance away from us (about 2 seats away). We were sitting on the long bench table behind the cashier. The food came as pictured. I’m not sure why one of the eggs Benedict looks broken and has already fallen off the muffin layer. But this is quite appalling. Should there be a need to change this dish due to the egg falling off then shouldn’t we be informed? I’m quite shocked that the kitchen would put smth like this out for 24.50. And the waitress would serve this when it looks like that? It’s a pity because I used to come here for brunch but today’s experience has sort of been disappointing.

The food was okay. Had the breakfast burger and smoked salmon and hash. Food was served fast, everything was okay except there were no more tater tots for the breakfast burger but was not informed until we asked when served. Nice ambiance and place to sit back and relax if there is no crowd. The price point is on the higher side without the discounts. Will come back for more.

Visited Coffee Academics at Scotts Square earlier in the week as some Lazada Flash Sale vouchers bought previously were expiring. Arriving at the café, there was a short wait before being shown a table outside as the seats inside were all taken. Ordering was by QR code on the table. After informing the staff that I was making a redemption, the staff informed me to order through the e-menu via the QR Code. After spending about 5 mins scrolling through the e-menu, the item could not be found anywhere in the menu. Signaling the staff, they agreed to take a manual order and about 5 mins later, the Yuzu Pomelo Cold Brew Tea was served. I understand that shops run promos now and then to gain publicity and brand recognition, however, such promotional products should be of the same or usual quality of the normal menu items and not a watered down version. Not sure if that was what happened here but the Yuzu Pomelo Cold Brew Tea that was served was light on flavour and was more water than flavour. Verdict: Poor quality promotional items served at a quality café hence showing that the café does not treat all customers equally, which is a pity given the good customer service by the staff Opening Hours: Daily 9am-8pm Queue Situation: Generally no queue Price: SG$8 upwards per person Payment Mode: Cash and all Major Credit Cards (Physical and Paywave) Item Ordered: 1) Item: Yuzu Pomelo Cold Brew Tea Description: Refreshing drink that tasted extremely dilluted Verdict: Fail, Don't Waste Time Price: SG$7.80++

😐 This is ecstatically the best looking amongst the PS Cafes. They have a good selection of food and beverages that some might consider pricey. But their cakes and deserts are very good. It’s a great place to chill in the afternoons and also good for sundowners after a long day. It’s always a pleas...
