I
have
stayed
at
Peninsula
Hotel
in
the
past
but
this
was
my
first
time
dining
at
the
rooftop
bar.
Upon
walking
in,
the
area
was
clean
and
modern
and
a
sign
containing
the
dress
code
contained
no
slippers.
I
was
greeted
by
a
man
who
didn’t
seem
to
understand
English.
I
asked
him
if
it
was
possible
to
have
a
table
and
to
dine
without
a
reservation
now
(which
I
didn’t
think
would
be
an
issue
as
it
was
empty).
He
didn’t
seem
to
understand....
after
a
few
minutes
of
awkwardness
I
was
able
to
select
a
table
and
headed
up
to
the
second
floor.
When
I
sat
down
at
a
table,
he
only
then
asked
if
I
wanted
a
menu....
then
disappeared
downstairs
and
a
few
minutes
later
I
was
greeted
by
a
half
enthusiastic
waitress
who
delivered
two
books
-
one
drinks
menu
and
one
food
menu.
The
price
for
food
starts
about
$19SGD
and
carries
on
upwards
to
almost
$40SGD.
The
cocktails
start
from
$15SGD
upwards
to
whole
bottles
at
a
staggering
$150SGD.
I
ordered
a
brandy
Alexander
and
Sweet
sour
pork
with
steamed
rice.
It
arrived
quickly
and
promptly
and
was
presented
very
well.
However,
the
serving
size
disappointing
with
merely
a
palm
serving
size
of
chicken
and
plenty
of
tomatoes
and
capsicum
and
lettuce
leaves,
the
best
part
was
the
plain
steamed
rice,
cooked
to
perfection.
The
sauce
and
glaze,
disappointing,
it
lacked
flavour.
I
ordered
a
pannacotta
dessert,
and
a
Jack
Daniels
and
a
cocktail
for
my
lunch
companions
who
had
just
walked
in.
Their
drinks
arrived
very
quickly,
the
dessert
took
18mins
(still
empty
restaurant).
When
it
arrived,
I
was
extremely
pleased
with
the
presentation.
Pannacotta
with
what
looked
like
Jam
on
top
and
sided
with
a
single
strawberry,
glaze,
4
blueberries
and
what
appeared
to
be
an
mini
orange
tomato.
Beautiful
presentation
5/5
and
serving
size
much
better
👌.
However
the
taste
was
comparable
to
that
of
an
old
custard.
The
blueberries
sour
(which
can’t
be
helped),
the
strawberries
nice.
But
the
winner
was
the
orange
tomato
which
surprisingly
was
very
sweet.
It
is
also
worth
noting
that
this
place
at
NIGHT
time
has
the
best
views
of
the
City
and
excellent
picture
ops.
If
I
had
to
rate
my
experience
based
solely
on
the
views
alone,
it
would
be
12/10!
Phenomenal
views.
So
you
may
wonder
why
I
have
decided
to
overall
rate
my
experience
2/5.
There
are
a
few
reasons:
Whilst
understandably
this
is
a
restaurant
with
excellent
views
of
the
city,
located
at
the
top
of
a
prestigious
4
star
hotel....
the
staff
lacks
the
enthusiasm
and
top
notch
service
to
match
it.
Everything
was
either
not
understood
or
given
with
attitude
from
the
staff.
The
main
reason
was
because
whilst
myself
and
my
colleagues
were
dining
and
attempting
to
converse
about
our
business,
one
of
the
employees
decided
to
turn
on
the
loud
vacuum
cleaner
right
next
to
us.
Not
only
could
we
not
hear
each
other
talk,
I
couldn’t
even
hear
myself
speak!
It
started
downstairs
then
continued
upstairs
for
what
felt
like
10minutes.
This
is
not
what
I
consider
fine
dining.
Not
only
could
we
not
talk
but
I
was
still
attempting
to
eat
my
food
and
keep
it
away
from
the
dust
coming
out
of
the
vacuum
cleaner
a
mere
step
and
half
away
from
me.
At
the
end
of
the
experience,
my
ears
were
ringing
and
I
was
left
with
a
poor
taste
in
my
mouth.
So
2/5
overall,
my
suggestion?
Eat
and
drink
elsewhere
and
just
come
up
for
the
view.
