I usually have low expectations of our local museums, but Johor’s Galeri Seni kinda surprised me. Honestly, it’s the people and guides that made the place lively. Suggest giving it a try as they refresh their exhibitions every 6 months and you get tips on where to eat and what to do in Johor

Galeri Seni Johor offered wide variety of art show. There's plenty of canvas painting displayed from the year 1999 up to 2022. Enterance fee is free, everyone is welcome to visit. Parking is a bit hard to find during my visitation due to some event being held on the compund.

Not so welcoming ambience (though it's open for public viewing as well), but great art display.

As at 24th June 2018, the place was deserted without any signs of refurbishment or maintaince work underway. Overgrown plants, bits and broken pieces of ceiling 'adorned' this majestic building. Such pity for what was once the official residence for the Chief Minister of Johor back in 1922, former place for Johor Education Department soon after and later officiated as the Johor Art Gallery in 1994 had now being left abandoned 😢

Underrated but a very interesting place to learn about textile - Kain Tenun Johor. Feels that it should be promoted further to the public and tourists.

The staffs were very welcoming. They showed us how to do seni corak batik by using only kitchen towel and colouring preservatives. We also strolled around the art museum, which was amazing! There is also a songket exhibition and a library full of ancient historical manuscripts and writings. It was a wonderful experience to be there.

Galeri seni display a lot of art work by local artists. However from my observation, the artwork is limited to only a few artist. Was hoping to see more collection of painting and art work. No entrance fee. Probably the galeri seni team can explore more painting from Johorean. This place need a hype as it could be one of the attraction for tourists to visit just like other states.

It's a heritage center but needs to change public mindset that's it's by invitation only. I was amazed by the beautiful arts and crafts at the center. Highly recommend this place when ever you need a tour back in time and a gleam of Johors hidden gems.

We came here in the middle of May 2017. The gallery is still under renovation. We're a bit sad though.

Got there eventually and the top floor was closed for renovation and not much on the ground floor... Ten minutes and we where out. Disappointing considering JB is so close to Singapore and they get so many tourists from there. Obviously they don't come for the Art. The nice people called us a taxi to go home but no taxi's available so we had to walk down to the highway and hail a cab there.
