First time here, we were slightly early and we are still being welcome to our table. Ambient is cool and the restaurant are filled with lemongrass essential oil. Food wise, they are not the finest but it's very good. Rendang with kreasi goes so very well with rice. Mix the kuah udang nanas and rendang and add little bit of sambal belacan = Power! KangKong is mild spicy, could have been better, lacking some punch from chilli paste. Fish maw is not bad, the meatballs seems handmade and they are soft. Keropok are the kids favorite, both of them finished it quite fast . Kong Bak pow is power, not the sweet type I expected. Pork Belly is soft and juicy, very well done. Cold Lemongrass drink is refreshing, apple juice with plum is delicious.

Lovely family run restaurant with authentic delicious Peranakan food. Paired great with in house craft beers too! The homemade chilli are worth a mention too. Will visit again!

Celebrated my Grandma’s birthday there recently. Food was great and service was fantastic, they even accommodated our special requests to decorate the place. My favourites were the Hee Peow Soup, Babi Pongteh & Ayam Buah Keluak. Will definitely be back!

Very good comfort food with a home cook taste. Give the refreshing apple plum a try, indeed very refreshing. Looking forward to trying out their other dishes

A long time friend invited us along to catch up, to his favourite, almost exclusive restaurant. He ordered the die-die must try beef rendang, I picked the chicalok omelette, sotong hitam. He recommended to start with otah and then added the fish maw soup. I was thinking that dishes should be just about right going by the usually smaller portions in Nonya outlets...I was completely floored when the portions were high! Had more rice than expected, definitely value for money and the chicalok omelette etc were heavenly. Definitely going back to try other dishes.

Nice peranakan food. We tried the following: Ayam buah keluak, beef rendang, keropok, babi ponteh, with ohnee and yam ice cream, complete with hot lemongrass and gula melaka latte for 135.5. good size for 4-6 pax. Pricewise on the high side, but the latte and ayam Buah keluak is a must try! Also, beware of its opening for and try to make reservations early to avoid disappointment.

Definitely one of the best Peranakan food in town! Dishes are sophistically cooked with refined flavours. My favourite is definitely the prawn with pineapple. Highly recommended! (The only comment would be the presentation - perhaps can consider using plates with vibrant design)

Came here because of all the good reviews but was very disappointed. It was my first time trying Nyonya food and was very excited. We ordered those signature dishes but unfortunately all of them tasted very average. The food was like home cooked style but nothing tasted really good. Service was also just alright. And It’s quite expensive considering the quality of the food.

Fantastic taste and dishes, we enjoy the food very much and also it’s atmosphere. Cosy and feels like home. The owner who runs the restaurant is polite, handsome and extremely hospitable. Will definitely return with our family and friends to try out their other dishes! Parking is also free along the parallel carpark lots.

Average to good. We tried a lot of dishes. Outstanding were: sotong hitam, udang lemak nanas, ayam buah keluak (chicken was very fresh and tender). Otah tasted very generic, like those we can buy outside frozen and diy. Chap chye was very soft but the flavour was subtle and not much oomph. Beef rendang was stringy and not very soft. Not suitable for those with dentures. Kids friendly dishes were: omelette cinchalok (a bit saltish, not very popular with kids), Babi pongteh and hei chor were well received by the kids.

Don’t be fooled by its exterior which looks like a sports bar. This bar and restaurant sells really authentic peranakan food. Every dish we ordered was very tasty and appetizing. Chicken buah keluak, chicken rendang, otak and meatball soup tasted home-cooked and yet tantalizing and absolutely flavorful. We shared 3 bowls of the blue rice because all the dishes were simply appetizing. And no, we didn’t feel thirsty which strongly suggests that there is no or very little msg in the food! Great place. Will definitely return. (In fact, I had their food at a house party before, and had returned to the restaurant for more.)

A very famous restaurant in area of eastern Singapore, the food is fabulous, just book your seat in advance as it's usually full of guests. This place is a gem! All dishes were splendid especially the curry was excellent. Spicy and flavourful enough for me. Generous portion of meat and value for money. 100% I will come back again! Already planning the 2nd trip!

We had the udang(prawns) lemak nanas, ayam keluak, chap chye and sotong n the oni. Taste was alright, the ayam was a bit of a let down though. Parking was easy at 7.30pm. Price slightly on the high side.

Catered for Easter family gathering. Well-balanced spread and generous portions enabled guests to go for second helpings- affirmation that my Peranakan family enjoyed the meal. The Udang Lemak Nanas was a crowd favourite for its unique cooking style and I personally enjoyed the Fried Mee Siam which was nicely spicy and flavourful. Really grateful to Cheney and team for accommodating our order outside opening hours. Saw some earlier reviews. My comment is that a good Peranakan meal needs to taste like it's home cooked because home is usually the only place get a good Peranakan meal.

For Mother’s Day this year, we decided to cater dinner, which was no easy task, coming from a family of foodies who compare every single dish to my mother’s wizardry in the kitchen. No catered food had passed muster before. This year was definitely different. I’d been wanting to order from Brew and Bar for quite some time, due to close friends’ recommendations and have no regrets. It was a wonderful decision ! The enquiry and subsequent ordering process was positive and seamless, thanks to Cheney. The food was delivered early, in properly sealed containers, and yes, the portions were HUGE ! We had enough food for leftovers and doggy bags for everyone. Every dish was moreish and didn’t taste pedestrian, like every catered food we’d tried before. Will definitely continue to call on Bar and Brew when we want to cater for future gatherings. Thank you for all the delicious dishes, Cheney !

Drove all the way from town to try this, lack of parking here unless you arrive before 6pm. Food is mediocre to me and seating area was very cramped. My reservation for 5pax was for 6.30pm and was given a table for 4 + 1 chair but the 4pax cannot sit facing each other as the other table was too near for chairs for both tables to be placed back to back. I rejected the sitting arrangement as it's tough to dine in such a cramped setting, so luckily I was given the other table which was reserved for 7.30pm and we left before 7.30pm. At $34 for each of us, food has no wow factor and seating was not comfortable, I will not go back.

Heartfelt appreciation to Cheney & the team for making special effort to cater our lunch buffet. Miscommunication on my side but they honoured the order for lunch n make it in time for our prayer session. 2 Thumbs up Mee siam, otak, ngoh Hiang & Ayam Kari are super yummy n are MUST order dishes. I am never a fan of Pulut Hitam but theirs is really good.. thick and not too sweet n coconut cream is v fragrant.

I've been to their shop for dinner before. I love both their food and interior decor. I also found out they offer catering services. So, I decided to order for my family's gathering. The food was delicious. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. The portion sizes were generous as well! I want to extend my gratitude to the owner for accommodating my time and request. He even personally delivered it. Thank you so much!"

We recently partnered with Brew n Bar for our event, and the experience was exceptional. They were incredibly responsive and accommodating to all our event requests. When I stepped into the restaurant, can smell fragrant cooking smell, not sure what but typical nonya food. Nice Peranakan food, I think their price is reasonable too. We ordered: - Otak ~ nothing special, like those u bought from frozen type. - Hei Zho - Nyonya Ginger Chicken - Udang Lemak Nanas ~ very lemak - Nyonya Chap Chye ~ i find the veg overly cooked, - Blue Fragrant Rice ~ color was very nice and appetizing - Orh Nee Pumpkin & Gingko - Carrot Glow - Lemongrass ×2 - Gula Melaka Latte

A cozy peranakan establishment run by husband and wife. The sweetest Mother stand in to help while the owner's wife commence her maternity leave. We ordered 4 dishes first and added the soup later to make it 5 dishes for two. We had too much but the environment was cozy and relaxing, most importantly the food was good. Highly recommend, Sotong Masak Hitam (with dask of black pepper), chap Chye, Ngor Hiong and HiePiew Soup. Not a fan if the Ayam Masak Buah Keluak as the keluak did not enhance the dish as it should.

Guys, this place is closed during this period of time. If you are considering odering on grab, please note they are not open. I placed an order yesterday for delivery today, and got my order cancelled, because they are closed. They have not been responsible enough to turn off delivery options even though they are not in operation during this time.

Attentive service by an enthusiastic and passionate chap - Gave some tailored recommendations and seemed genuinely pleased to hear that we were reccomeneded the place. The food was delicious and we had to fight the urge to over order in a second bout. The beef rendang is fragrant and super scrummy. Well it all was but that Rendang... Could eat it every day. We also had some local blonde beer from brewerks, which was decent. 5* Wednesday date night.

Chances upon this little Peranakan eatery tucked away in the side street. Ordered the set lunch for $15 each. Love the taste Chye Ikan Bakar was crispy and freshly fried. The fried chicken wings were nicely flavoured. Love the ladies fingers and the chilli was fiery but Yums. We had the yam ice cream for dessert. Not too sweet with a strong yam taste. Will go again to try the main dishes the next time!

Excellent peranakan place with great ambiance. Every dish we had was great and the host was just as helpful. Favourites were the Beef Rendang and the Curry Vegetables. Beef is soft and succulent. Well marinated and just slides right off the fork. Curry vegetables were a surprise. Vegetables were soft, well-cooked and curry was just as flavourful with that creamy coconut milk. An excellent place to wind down with comfort food.

Don’t come to this place when you see more than 2 tables filled. There was bad table management and food took 20minutes to come in a semi-filled Restaurant. Response from waiter was bad when we queried why patrons that came later than us was served first. To elaborate, I noticed the later Patrons were served two plates of rice, however I only got 1 plate despite ordering 2 and was met with an excuse from the waiter that they had run out of rice. Upon further query, the waiter threw a mini-fit and mentioned “he only had 2 hands” which is understandable if not for the small crowd in the restaurant. The food however, was good but the overall experience was tainted by the poor management and waitering at this restaurant. Note: before submitting this review, the waiter gave us 2 free desserts. To make up for this poor experience. Good observation and waitering skills which sadly, came too late.

We heard abt Brew & Bar from different ones in the East, and thought it’s about time to try out the home-cooked Peranakan food here! It was SO GOOD! There were 8 of us, so we had quite a good spread. Our absolute favourites were The HEE PEOW SOUP was delicious with generous meatballs and maw. The BEEF RENDANG was a huge hit cos the meat was so soft and very well seasoned. And the husband was pleasantly surprised with the BABI PONTENG too.. (none of that porky taste and no tough meat too!) The kids & adults also liked the CINCALOK OMELETTE which retained that unique fermented shrimp taste without being overpowering. And special mention for the very very soft melt-in-the-mouth CHAP CHYE! We also enjoyed the NGOH HIANg and FRIED CHICKEN. (that fried chicken was actually a surprise.. I don’t usually order this in a Peranakan meal.. but it turned out yummy!) The accompanying sambal as a whole was great for absolutely anything, esp the pretty blue pea rice. Dessert was yummy too! We had tasty Green Tea molten cake with Sweet Corn ice cream (so strange combi but so great tasting!) We already planned... for the next family birthday, we will be back and try the other dishes. This is a gem! A cosy hidden find with good food. And thank you for the very friendly and warm service too!

I refrained from sharing food pictures because it wouldn’t really what I show as the food is all good. From crispy prawn paste mid-joints (with beer) to as fish head, you won’t anything bad for your daily dosage of good food and drinks. The best part of this place is its hometown feel and nostalgia mood which bring backs sweet loving memories of being back in the good old days back when your first love is beside you and nothing else matters.

Delightful Peranakan food! Went on a Fri and was kinda of worried by the lack of crowd. Turned out my fears were unfounded when the dishes came. Instead, we had a good time throughout accompanied by a few other small group of diners. Good for hanging out and having light conversations. There are also a couple of outdoor seats, where a fellow diner brought his doggie along. Highly recommend the sotong in squid ink. Savoury sauce and nice texture. We also got the eggplant and sambal prawn. Differing reviews on the eggplant ranging from average to great, but still recommended.
