The Sao Lou and Hot Fun noodles are pretty good overall. But the service is a little chaos due to the crowd. Felt like we are fighting for the waiter attention all the time. Not to mention, ordered 8 dishes and came only 6. Need to brush up on the service during peak hours.

Food was very good. Packed with flavours and fresh seafood. The signature white pepper crabs is a must have. Loved the beancurd skin roll too. Spring onion ginger beef was very tender and tasty but need rice to go with it or it'll be too salty. The fried bee hoon was so so. The fish head was also very flavourful. Service was good but the place was to packed. Patrons are sitting back to back. And it's very noisy. I can hardly hear what my companions were saying although we were sitting together. Need to make a reservation unless you don't mind sending outside waiting for a table.

Food was delicious. The female crabs were fresh (2 for $60). Service was practically non-existent. Is that why they charge 3% service charge instead of the usual 10%? I think there was a service crew on the second floor but after all the tables upstairs ordered, he disappeared. We had to go downstairs to order more food twice. Added on yam paste and it never came. They forgot the order. Minus 1 star for lacklustre service.

Went for dinner on a Friday evening with group of 5. This place is popular, can be seen with lots of photos of famous people visited the joint on display. Expect paying above average price 😉. Other than the popular white pepper crab, the rest on the menu are just okay. The restaurant maybe top on other's list but not mine. Plenty other similar places are comparable.

Celebrate Father's day dinner at here for first time.. Starting with the San Lou Mee Hoon, tasted nice about a tad above average not oily and chewy. Next, the fermented fried pork belly was delicious, crispy on the skin and soft to the bite. The salted egg prawn was really yummy salted but the saltiness overwhelm the prawn taste. The tofu dish was average nothing more than that. After that came their signature white pepper crab, really fresh and nice taste except that it suits certain palates only. I also noticed ordered 2 crabs but 3 claw only, does not tally with the parts of a crab. Lastly, haven't had enough ordered a prawn paste chicken, this was the best out of all dishes, certainly recommend. Crispy and tender at its best. Overall, all the dishes were great, no wonder the crowd. Food were served reasonably fast as well. Recommended for anyone who is interested for zi char. Advisable to reserve before coming as the restaurant is always packed.

Went to this place last week for dinner. The place was really crowded but the food was delicious. We had to sit outside because there wasn’t indoor space so it was a bit hard to get the attention of a server. But I just don’t want to not give 5 starts because their service was really good and the food came in faster than we expected. We didn’t even wait for 10 mins. The look of their white pepper crabs were mouth watering and it was actually delicious. The MeeHoon was delicious and it was the best I have tried. We would definitely visit this place. Also if you go on a Friday or a weekend I would recommend you have a reservation.

I was recommended this restaurant by my friend live in Singapore. All the food so delicious in here including noodles, pork and crab. I really really love fried noodles and crab sauce, you must try when u come this restaurant. But u will take a long queue when you come late and take the number for table at weekend. This will be a local food restaurant you must try when u travel in Singapore 🇸🇬.

J.B. Ah Meng Restaurant in Singapore is an absolute gem for any food lover! From the moment you step into this restaurant, you can tell that you are in for a culinary treat. The first thing that struck me was the aroma of fresh seafood and spices that filled the air. The menu is extensive, with a wide range of options to suit all tastes. I highly recommend trying their famous Meehoon, which is simply out of this world. The noodles are cooked to perfection and paired with fresh vegetables and succulent meat, making for a truly satisfying dish. Their crab and shrimp dishes are also a must-try, with the seafood being incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. The restaurant can get pretty crowded, so I would recommend making a reservation before heading down. However, the staff is incredibly helpful and efficient, ensuring that you are seated and served promptly. Overall, J.B. Ah Meng Restaurant is a fantastic dining experience that should not be missed. The food is top-notch, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. If you're looking for a great meal in Singapore, J.B. Ah Meng Restaurant is definitely worth checking out.

Busy, very fast-paced place. Be warned it's a bit chaotic. The food used to be better that's why I'm giving this 4 stars, but it's still very good. The clams, noodles, and white pepper prawns are the speciality. The salted egg prawns were also good. Try to call to book an early time or else you'll have to wait in long queue

Must try the white pepper crab. It is so good. But that aside, after frequenting this place for quite a bit, have to recommend their Bee Hoon too. The service here is pretty efficient and helpful. Anything you request they’ll help make it possible. They would even custom make some vegetarian dish that’s not on the menu and it’ll be pretty good (done that before for my vegetarian friends who joined for dinner) Generally don’t get rice here. Just save the space for the dishes. Price wise, the crab is usually half the cost. 2 crabs cost us $120. Total bill for 5 came up to $250.

The white pepper taste was good but the crabs were not totally fresh fresh. Sufficiently fresh. The lala were mostly empty shells but the boss gave a discount on the lala when we informed him. Large lala though. Very good of him to do that. Sensitive to customer's complaints. There is no decent ambience as it was crowded and packed but service was fast and the food came very fast.

Everyone raves about this legendary spot, and it's no wonder the queues are always long. When we arrived around 8 pm, the restaurant was packed. After waiting for a few minutes, the uncle boss (whose face is plastered throughout the walls of the restaurant) informed us that they had run out of crab, it was sold out. I explained to the boss that we had specifically come for the white pepper crab. Apparently, my argument was convincing, as the uncle told us that he could arrange to buy some crabs from across the street. In the future, it's good to know that you can reserve a table and even reserve crabs in advance to avoid encountering such a situation. I'm grateful that the uncle boss was kind enough to make that effort for us, as it was a smart business decision indeed. Apart from the crab, the fried crispy bee hoon was absolutely fantastic. Never had I imagined I would find a better version. If you happen to live in the area, I highly recommend coming here and trying their white pepper crab. I must admit, I'm starting to prefer this version over chili crab, without a doubt.

This is a crowded restaurant frequented by locals. The food is excellent. I like the fried bee Hoon and the “snow or ice” vegetable (tough to get in Singapore). The clams are exquisite - the freshness of the sea combined with good control of the fire (wok he) and lightly seasoned. I was disappointed with the Nan Rou (I hope I got the name right) pork chop - over-fried, and the taste is lacking. Their signature chilli crab was above average perhaps because they were smaller than those we usually want but they are fresh. The shrimp prawn that cooked in alcohol looks appetizing but I didn't dare try.

The restaurant was small, packed and the eaters were rowdy. We can hardly hear from one another on the same table. The food was tantalizing and had quite a bit of unique dishes. Cold vegetables were one of them. Overall it was good and I will come back again.

Came here for company dinner and was amazed by the quality of the food. The San Lou Bee Hoon was my favourite and can compare with the best bee hoon in sg. No complaints at all with this restaurant other than the crowd, which is inevitable due to its popularity. Book in advanced if planning to visit.

Their signature San Lou Beehoon is truly a highlight, and I absolutely loved the recommendation from the service staff (we can't eat seafood so she recommended the long bean dish with lotus root instead) and that dish was RAD!! The lotus slices were deep fried to perfection, and the long beans are parboiled then given a quick stir in the wok with the sauces, so you can taste the freshness of the vegetables. The meal was also very affordable. I would recommend making a reservation before going down, especially on weekends. 😉

Made a reservation 2 hours prior for a Sunday evening. Ordered san lou meehoon, fried garlic la la (clams), and fermented fried pork belly. Service was good, although they forgot about our white rice and had to remind them. Wished the meehoon was more crispy/ fried more, so that there’s more of the “chaotah”-ness. Fried lala was surprisingly good, sauce was delicious, although slightly salty. Pork belly was also on the saltier side. Best dish for me was the fried clams. Clean toilets located on second floor with even more seats. Limited car spots along different streets. Would dine in again!

Had dinner here without reservations with about 10 minutes of waiting time. Enthusiastic and prompt staff. Slightly pricey. Tried the bee hoon and abalone dish. Not bad for two people. Would love to come back and try the crab and others!

This is the best place I have eaten in Singapore. The white pepper crab was brilliant. The chilli garlic clams is a dish I could eat weekly and the Auntie that runs the shop is adorable. Get in early or make a booking as it gets busy.

Excellent white pepper crabs, which was well executed - aromatic and spicy notes from the white pepper balanced with certain herbs like coriander and spring onions. Manila clams were fresh, succulent but not really tasty. Fermented pork was another highlight - well marinated using good cuts of meat. Salted egg prawns, san lou beehoon and vegetables were all good and recommended.

Came here when it opens but almost no available seats due to no reservations. Better to call to make reservations next time. Foods are good, tasty but not that impressive. Service speed is fast and the staff is polite. Food is pricey compared to normal tze char restaurant though.

A stone theow from where I was visiting. Crowded and bustling with locals and visitors hoping for a taste of greatness. It didn't disappoint. Fast service and good food at local setting. Their signatures - San lou fried bee hoon, fried garlic chili lala are must try. Fresh and flavourful!

Excellent food and redaoanble pricing too. Best to call and reserve otherwise is a long wait for available seat. Food is served very fast and staff are helpful.

Packed dinner here after my afternoon ride at ECP - tmcr. The brocollini, prawn roll were good. The deep fried bee hoon tasted good and I think eating it there would have even been better. Tried a white pepper crab too and it was good too. The place is super popular and super crowded. Fully booked and almost all the tables were occupied too at 515pm. (Opening for dinner is 5pm).

Compared to the one in malaysia, the beehoon lacked wokhei and crisp. It was very tasty, but tasted more like a wet stir fried beehoon. The fermented pork belly was highly recommended, but i felt it was really average. I really liked the salted egg prawn ball which had pieces of corn inside too. The prawn paste chicken was crispy and flavourful. The beans were also fresh, but the dried shrimp was too chunky and hard. 3 pax, ordered large beehoon and small for all the other dishes, bill came up to $110. servings were pretty generous.

Love!! Although its quite a lenghty walk from the MRT station. But very worth the walk. Ordered the fried bee hoon (always get small because its more crispy. 2 smalls instead of 1 medium - more crispy surface area lol), fried prawn paste chicken wings (can really taste the balachan, very well marinated), clams (this was ok but not out of the ordinary), and green beans (normal). Their chilli tho, so bomb! Must have especially with the beehoon. Come earlier before peak dinner time so you don’t have to wait long. Opens till quite late also. Will deff come back!

Very disappointed with my lunch today. Fish not fresh & over fried. Veg was very old & rubbery. “Cold” San low bee hoon lack wok hei & fermented pork was hard chewy & I tink is overnight leftover fried meat! The Worst part was the dishes were all served cold. I had a good dinner on my last visit so may be there’s a change of cook or they just reheat the food now. Anyway looking at the food & lunch crowd says it all. Super disappointed & will not return again.

Authentic taste! The food here was great, absolutely love the Chao Tah Beehoon which is their signature. It has the authentic "wok-hey" taste. Restaurant is usually pretty crowded and full during peak periods so do plan your time carefully. Have yet to try their signature white-pepper crab. Overall, would recommend!

Food was delicious. Must book to avoid waiting. As the toilet is on the 2nd floor, it's a little inconvenient for elderly people with weak legs. We had 2x700g white pepper crabs. They were fresh and yummy. Reasonably priced dishes plus service charges and GST. Everyone was satisfied with all the dishes.

  • 5/5 Gregory S. 3 months ago on Google New
Best of the Best. Unbelievably fast, food came out together, clean, tasty and great customer service. Forgot to take picture of their fried chicken wings and some other food, I ate it straight away. It’s that good! Worth the queue.

Restaurant located right at the corner of Lorong 30 and Geylang Rd. Definitely cannot miss it. Ordered 6 dishes to share between 4pax for Father's day dinner. San Lou Meehoon Salted Egg Prawn Balls Tofu with mushroom, pork belly and squid(三丝豆腐) Fried Pork Belly White Pepper Crab(2x 400g for $60) Prawn Paste Chicken All dishes were delicious! They are known for the san lou meehoon, white pepper crab and salted egg prawn balls. All 3 were indeed superb but prawn paste chicken stood out for me. This dish is a must order! Surely wont regret. Total damage about $150 including 2 bowls of rice and 3 cans of drink. 2 downsides to take note for this restaurant. 1. Parking is limited as you are only able to park along the road, there are not many. 2. It can get quite chaotic during dinner time. Calling for service might be difficult. Best to sit at 1st floor.

Delicious food! Perfect for my Chinese parents' taste buds. Really crowded as it was a popular place and can be quite difficult to get the waiter's attention. We called to make a reservation, else it would be a long wait.

My family of four had dinner to celebrate me & hubby’s wedding anniversary. Every dish was yummy - cooked to ideal delight. I still relish at the taste of its broccolini, unforgettable taste with its tinge of spiciness and bean paste. The spare ribs king was soft to every bite. Imagine the beehoon and crab were so welcomed by my girls who don’t usually have hearty appetite therefore, how can I not like the food. The staff were rather attentive and saw to my girls’ needs of cutleries and our takeaway item.

  • 4/5 XDD 7 months ago on Google
Always enjoy its white pepper crab and fried beehoon. Its chili crab is average and a bit sweet for me. Dishes with sauce can be quite starchy. Good to make a table reservation and tell them to reserve the number of crabs you want as this place is very popular especially at weekends.

  • 4/5 Joyce T. 9 months ago on Google
The food is definitely yummilicious. Put of the for dishes, I loved the lala most. The wait is certainly worth it. Don't expect too much service. Is like a "war zone" in there. Everyone rushing, talking. First-timers will be absolutely lost, not sure how orders could be placed. Rest assured, someone will come to you when they have time because they also want fast turnover. Reminded me having meals in HK.

Not bad, but nothing to shout about either. Their options are less compared to regular seafood shops. We ordered some "vegetarian dishes" according to the server however it contained shrimp/ikan bilis (we had a vegetarian guest from out of town) - this place is definitely NOT vegetarian friendly

  • 5/5 MC S. 11 months ago on Google
SUPER SHIOK DINNER!!! Totally worth the wait and the price. Abit chaotic indoors but just order immediately. …. 1) Superior Prawn Soup with Tanghoon, Beancurd Skin & Enoki - OMG DAMN FLAVORFUL AND GAO. Must must order confirm no regrets! Prawns were huge and fresh! 2) San Lou Bee Hoon - Must order! Looks plain but noo very shiok and well seasoned! 3) Fried Pork - One word SHIOK! Must order very addictive. The ratio of fats to meat is perfect! 4) Longbeans with Dried Shrimps - Good and yummy, the hae bee hiam very addictive to snack on. 5) Stir Fry Lala - Good dish to accompany 6) Salted Egg Prawns - Prawns are fresh but the salted egg is the grainy type not creamy version. Can try but not a must. Will revisit to eat again!

First time here. I didn't have reservations and it was a bit difficult to understand the questions the staff had, but got a queue number and didn't wait long. Food was good! We had the bee hoon, garlic broccolini, tofu and salted egg prawn ball. I especially liked the prawns! The place is super busy and the staff look exhausted but service is good.

Family dining, long queue but it's move fast. Rowdy environment and service is quick. What I liked is the beehoon, rest are quite normal. Overall strong flavors for every dish. Recommend if you have a group to share.

Went on a Tuesday at 6pm. Still have tables but suggest to call and reserve earlier. The food was nice and not too salty which is good. Can try.
