You have to bring your own prayer mat or else they don’t allow you to go in. Visitors are still not allowed to visit. You can definitely find many halal restaurants around the mosque. Can take a walk to Haji Lane also.

This is walking distance from some of the local tourist attractions. It is located in a very different part of the city where instead of seeing name brands and skyscrapers, there are traditional stores in colourful alleyways. The Mosque is a gem places in the centre of this area. Beautiful gold dome does top the look. There do offer tours at selected times for those who are not worshippers. There is a female section of the west side.

Beautiful and spacious mosque. Female praying hall at the top floor and has elevator. The ablution area to elevator had no shelter walkway.

Beautiful masterpiece of a building, great scenery, good for a long walk around. And for anyone's that's trying to go all in, exploring all nearby attraction is worth every second. Maybe after a long shopping walk at bugis mall, bugis junction etc. Just right in front of it is Bussorah street, a lot of Authentic Arabic restaurant and try to go a little early because it's always filled with people. Tried a few restaurant there, it's a little on a pricey side but still worth the taste, on average of 25$ per meals. And if you on a budget, there's a Malay Restaurant called Kampong Glam but still a decent place, and probably better than any other in Singapore. If you go to the right crossing the Arab street, you'll find Haji Lane. Well for my muslim friends, it's not really "Haji" like as it called, because it's full of bars, place for people hanging out with friends and colleagues after a long day at work. But still worth checking out, beautiful place, the surrounding filled with colourful lighting, giving it a chilly vibes. Uusually there's buskers solo singing entertaining the customers, and you'll see a few talented musician too. The North Bridge road just behind you'll find Indian muslim restaurant called Zam Zam which is quite famous in Singapore, should check it out too. Along North Bridge Road, look out on your right for Kandahar Street. Once you turn in to the street, you will find the Malay Heritage Centre on your left. For those who want to learn more about Malay's history and culture, you may want to pay a visit to the centre. P/S All photos was taken throughout 2020

We went to this place sultan park for team building, I don’t have any ideas that the oldest mosque of Singapore is there. We explored the areas around the mosque it was very beautifully created and maintained. The famous tea stall TARIK is here. The wall of the festival house is so nice. The beautiful murals are there. Some goods restaurants are there, for me Indian tourists will love these foods, smells awesome 🤩.

(Translated by Google) Wonderful mosque in beautiful surroundings. The predecessor of the current mosque was built by Sultan Hussain between 1824 and 1826 because it was the center of the Malay, Islamic community. As the importance of Islamic trade and culture gradually increased, the former mosque proved small and construction of the new mosque began in 1924, which was completed in 1932. It can accommodate about 5,000 believers at a time.

The arab street is a very beautiful street that leads to the Sultan Mosque (unfortunately closed to the public during this covid period except for the muslims of the mosque). There are many turkish restaurants and souvenir stores. One would believe oneself in Aladdin ! The tour is however relatively quickly done but it's still so beautiful that it's necessary to stop there.

I was lucky enough to be able to see it from the window as it was diagonally across from the hotel I was staying at. I don't understand the historical significance because I'm not educated, but it's absolutely beautiful. It is a symbol of the Arab quarter. The area around the mosque was lined with shops, allowing us to enjoy the Arabian exotics of this cosmopolitan country.

One of the most highly recommended tourist spots to visit in Singapore, the “Sultan Mosque” in Arab Street. There are awesome street mural paintings and vintage commercial structures around the “Mosque”. You can also find a lot of F&B establishments and even boutique hotels nearby.

Being Al Banjari myself, while knowing that the first ever mufti of Singapore was Al Banjari too, I love visiting this mosque, imagining how Allahyarham Haji Mohd Sanusi bin Haji Mahmood was doing his best for Islam in Singapore, even before this country was born. I also love the ambience of this mosque and its surroundings. Whenever I feel lonely (since I am just a foreigner and have none here), I just come by this mosque. Indeed, if you have none but God, God is more than enough.

Sultan Mosque 🕌 - Locality at Muscat Street in the middle of Kampung Gelam, the Malay Heritage District, Singapore. 🇸🇬 It's a historical and oldest mosque in Singapore, calm and serene which's still function. Also known as Masjid Sultan among local peoples, a prominent mosque in Singapore and one of the country's most impressive religious buildings. 🕌 Sultan Mosque surrounded by many eateries @ halal foods from the difference cultures and tastes. Built in 1824-1826 during the Malay Johore Sultanate's era and was named after Sultan Hussain Shah. It's gazetted as a national monument in the year 1975. 🕌 Worth seeing the typical design combines several architectural and should be preserved with its massive golden domes and huge prayer hall that can hold up to 5,000 worshippers. 🤗

The mosque was built in 1824 for Sultan Hussein Shah, the first sultan of Singapore. Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore, gave S$3,000 to the construction of a single-storey building with a double-tiered roof. Glass base While you’re there, inspect the onion-shaped domes. Each dome base is decorated with glass bottle ends, donated by lower-income Muslims during its construction so that all Muslims, not just the rich, could contribute. Gazetted as a national monument in 1975, the mosque has long been a focal point for the Muslim community.

Sultan Mosque in Singapore is a captivating masterpiece of Islamic architecture. Its stunning golden dome and intricate details make it a remarkable cultural and historical landmark. Whether you're exploring the Kampong Glam district or seeking a moment of serenity, a visit to Sultan Mosque is a must. While it's a bit smaller than some grand mosques worldwide, the sense of spirituality and cultural significance is palpable. Visitors are welcome, and the informative guided tours provide valuable insights. Visited in the month of November, it's in my best memories! What a beautiful and noble mosque! Well maintained with women's are accessible by stairs or lift, upstairs. Serene, and emanating warmth and welcome, you can sit and just enjoy the lull, meditating, praying, be grateful. (Translated by Google) This is the largest Muslim place of worship in Singapore and is an icon in itself as well as the pride of Singaporean Muslims. If you come to Singapore and don't worship or visit the Sultan Mosque, it feels incomplete and afdhal. Non-Muslim tourists can enter this mosque on the condition that they take part in the committee or takmir of the mosque. Excitingly beautiful and clean mosque with a really serene environment located in the middle of local muslim community businesses. Nicely decorated inside the praying hall with a lot of colors and surprisingly very airy with combinations of a huge ceiling fan as well as the architecture itself. Comfortable praying inside although it is quite hot outside. The mosque upkeep is very good. Keep it up. Will come here again insya-Allah.

Beautiful Masjid Sultan, prominent mosque in Singapore and one of the country's most impressive buildings. The architecture looks amazing from outside and inside. Very well organised when visiting for tours. I went for the Jummua prayer on Friday and it was very busy and gets extremely full especially if you want to go pray in the main hall, get there by 12:30. The locals are very nice people and they run the mosque really well. The Mosque was built in 1824 for the first sultan of Singapore, Sultan Hussain.

One of the most iconic landmarks in Singapore is the Sultan Mosque, located in the historic district of Kampong Glam. The mosque was built in 1824 by Sultan Hussein Shah, the first sultan of Singapore, with the help of the British East India Company. The mosque features a distinctive golden dome and a spacious prayer hall that can accommodate up to 5000 worshippers. The mosque is also a symbol of the rich cultural diversity of Kampong Glam, where Malay, Arab, Indian and Chinese communities coexist harmoniously. If you are looking for a glimpse of Singapore's heritage and architecture, Kampong Glam and Sultan Mosque are definitely worth a visit.

Performed prayer during zohor time here. The toilet is clean & dry & no bad smell, which means the mosque is well kept/maintained. Muslimah (ladies) prayer hall is at the 2nd floor. Lift is available to go the 2nd floor. No aircond inside but it cooled by the breeze coming in. Different entrance for muslimin (male) and muslimat (female).

WONDERFULL MOSQUE! once toured around this area, there are various souvenir shops with affordable prices, there are also several Middle Eastern restaurants, so when you are hungry and want to eat halal food, you will not have trouble finding halal food around here. I would love to come back here soon.

Its one of the mosques in Singapore that allows the prayer call to be broadcasted. Reason being that its a National Heritage site. Well that's good as this is the way it used to be. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, Friday prayers or normal prayers have limited capacity allowed. It stood there for more than a hundred years and hundreds more to come.

  • 5/5 Amar K. 3 years ago on Google
Masya Allah. Does anything else need to be said about this masjid which has not already been done so? To pray here is iconic, and to have the ability to perform your prayers is simply a blessing. Would recommend all Muslim brothers & sisters to at least perform solat here once in their lives.

Constructed in 1824 and renovated in 1932, Sultan Mosque was dedicated to Singapore's first sultan or king, Sultan Hussein Shah as a gift from Sir Stamford Raffles at a price of $3,000. Today, this over a century-old Kampong Glam masterpiece sits tall amongst shophouses that line North Bridge Road and Muscat Street. And it is home to the Muslim community that resides around Kampong Glam and Beach Road areas. One historical gem that sits right in the heart of Singapore's coolest neighbourhoods.

The mosque is located at Muscat Street. The parking is very limited. You have to park at the roadside. No aircond yet comfortable to perform the prayer here. No issues with the cleanliness. Well it’s Singapore!

It has great history as you see the. Lack line under the dome it’s from poor people who wanted to contribute and they made sure they got recognition as they donated everything they had. So it’s a history and lesson. The architecture near by sultan mosque is great. There are a lot of shop houses so they have shop downstairs and house upstairs which is pretty cool concept.

Stunning!! Ma Shaa Allah this is a beautiful Mosque in the heart of the Muslim Quarter. Non Muslims are allowed to enter to see the main prayer hall. Just beautiful with great facilities. They even have a screen outside which provides some basic knowledge into the peaceful religion.

Great mosque with lots of history and information regarding Islam and the beliefs / values. The staff were very friendly and answered any questions. There are skirts, dresses and coverings given at the door so you can be appropriately dressed whilst in the mosque. Overall would highly recommend if looking to further your knowledge on the Islamic culture.

    1. It's a historical place -- u can find info on Google. 2. Tourists can enter the place during the day. They provide clothes free of cost in case you are not properly attired. 3. They are good places to eat Arab food nearby though a little costly. 4. U can also find 7/11 stores.

We were not able to get inside the mosque. We were not even sure how to get in. So we decided to stay outside and just be amazed by the architecture of the mosque. It was beautiful. If you come here, check out their 2 entrance arches as well. They are equally beautiful. Each arch is adorned with floral relief ornaments around them. They are located on both ends of Muscat Street. The better angle for insta photos would probably be the arch on northeast end. If you cross the street or step back a little you can take a shot of the arch with the mosque inside of the arch. I just found it out while going around google maps. Too bad we were too lazy to reach that and of the street when we were there. Actually, It was not that far from the other end of Muscat street. I just don’t know why we got too lazy that day. It was noon time when we got there and we were dying to find a food to eat. So that was probably why were were too lazy that time. Also found in the area are souvenir shops. In front of the mosque you can find line of restaurants. If you are into architecture, this place is also worth a visit.

We just used Grab Apps for our ride there, easy to access. Very touristy, the souvenir are a bit expensive there (as expected). Prayed at the mosque, and the wash area is separated from the main building. There are a lot of shops around and the place is very instagramable.

The mosque is indeed very peaceful and beautiful. It was not too packed since we visited on Monday. The place for wudhu is very clean, the shalat shaf for women is upstairs that we reached by elevator (very convenient for elderly and people with walking difficulties). They provide mukena and sajadah, all very clean and neatly organized, but I’d still recommend anyone to bring their own. Through the window upstairs, you can see beautiful view of the street mural and skyscraper buildings. Behind the mosque there’s clean pedestrian with lots of shop outlets and restaurants, very suitable for tourists who want to visit one place with multiple choices of activity to do.

Joined in the ladies in April 2023 for a prayer session to feel the peace and serenity, then strolled down to %Cafe to have a relaxing cup of coffee. A very relaxing and enjoyable experience. If you go there with an empty stomach, you can get to enjoy fulfilling meals on exotic cuisine like humus, kebabs, etc. There is also a lovely Sarong Kebaya boutique down the street, so happy shopping ladies ❣️

Visited in the month of January, it's in my best memories!

The mosque 🕌 looks very nice. When i visited, there was a lot of crowds, and for some reason, there was a board on one of the entrances that only musalman was allowed. So, i didn't go in.
