Chinatown’s highlights are the old chinese temple, chinese shops & a hindu temple. It’s nice to walk around here to go back in time and understand how much of influence the Chinese have to Singapore. The place has a lot of visitors during peak season of tourist arrival.

Singapore's Chinatown is renowned for its well-preserved shophouses, which are traditional two- or three-story buildings characterized by narrow frontages and ornate facades reflecting Chinese, Malay, and European architectural influences. These historic structures, found along iconic streets like Pagoda Street and Smith Street, have been carefully conserved to maintain their original character, serving as a living testament to the area's rich heritage and the early immigrant communities that shaped it. Today, Chinatown's shophouses continue to house a diverse array of businesses, from traditional trades to modern shops and restaurants, drawing both locals and tourists keen to experience the area's unique cultural charm.

Nice area to explore in the center of the city. Just opposite Chinatown MRT. Plenty of things to do around here. Maxwell food center is a great start for food lovers. Highly recommend the rojak local dish. The temple is huge and nice to visit too. Chinatown street market is filled with shops and restaurants too. Good for shopping especially for Singapore souvenirs. China point and People park shopping mall nearby too.

A visit to Singapore is mere incomplete if you haven’t been to Chinatown. One of the finest and must-visit places to visit in Singapore, Chinatown was initially an area of residence for several Chinese immigrants who arrived in the British Colony in those days. Chinatown is rife with Asian and Chinese cultures, coupled with sumptuous culinary delights, art and tourist destinations. The first and foremost temple of Singapore named- Thian Hock Keng Temple is situated here, styled in a traditional southern Chinese temple. The Maxwell Road Hawker Center brims with delectable food culture. At this Singapore, tourist place grab a cost-friendly meal of laksa noodles or even kaya toast from here and this is one of the best places to go in Singapore for friends. Highlights: Chinatown is known for its restaurants, its food shops, for clothes and tchotchkes shopping, a few Buddhist temples, and being the center of the largest hawker centre where you will find temples to visit and, of course, food stalls to eat local and Chinese food. Undoubtedly, food is what most locals and tourists love when visiting Chinatown. History: Chinatown was built in 1843, and eventually, more establishments and stalls were built. As years go by, it is being developed and improved to attract more tourists local and abroad. Location: 158 Telok Ayer Street, Singapore Opening hours: In general, Chinatown’s shops, restaurants and markets tend to stay open until approximately 9.30pm, although some may close earlier or stay open later depending on the day and the specific establishment.

During the Chinese New Year, this area is decorated with lanterns, lights and figurines. The sight is colourful and brilliant. This year is the year of the dragon so the figurines are dragons.

This is the China Town in Singapore . My last visit here was 30 years ago, This place has changed a lot, many buildings now. They still keep many traditional & classical buildings . A museum of the Hawkers who started to live in this area is at the middle of the street. It's a pity that it was closed for construction during my visit . I could read some of the historical information on the street board , Now, this is a busy street with many retail shores , restaurants . You can find all kinds of Singapore souvenirs here, no need to buy at the airport . This is a must see place when you are in SG. The Indian Temple is worth to visit too.

Chinatown is one of the most vibrant and culturally rich neighborhoods in Singapore. The bustling streets are filled with a variety of shops, markets, and restaurants, making it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in experiencing the city's vibrant Chinese heritage. One of the main attractions of Chinatown is the street market, which is a maze of small alleyways lined with vendors selling everything from souvenirs and trinkets to traditional Chinese medicines and herbs. The prices here are generally reasonable, but be prepared to haggle for the best deals. Another highlight of Chinatown street is the food scene. You'll find plenty of street food vendors selling a variety of local specialties, including the famous chicken rice, bak kut teh, and chili crab. There are also plenty of restaurants serving authentic Chinese cuisine, including dim sum, hotpot, and roasted meats. One of the most impressive landmarks in Chinatown is the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, which is a stunning example of traditional Chinese architecture. The temple is home to a vast collection of Buddhist artifacts, and visitors can join in on guided tours to learn more about the history and significance of the relics. Overall, Chinatown street is a must-visit destination in Singapore, offering a rich cultural experience, delicious food, and unique shopping opportunities. Whether you're a local or a tourist, you'll find plenty to explore and discover in this vibrant neighborhood.

This is just like any other chinatown in the world. One thing that makes it different though, it is home to Kele, the most delicious pineapple tarts and pineapple balls in Singapore. Make sure you buy some to take to your home country.

To experience Singapore’s multi-ethnic culinary traditions, make Chinatown Food Street your first stop. While, Chinatown's busy streets encapsulate all the sights and sounds that visitors expect of Chinatown, with hundreds of stalls selling everything (name it, they have it). There are also variety of ‘Made in China’ goods on display and lanterns swaying in the breeze above your head.

(Translated by Google) As in all the Chinatowns of the world, but perhaps even a little more here, you are catapulted into a moment totally different from what was on the other side of the road. Although everything has a distinctly touristic vocation, the place still maintains its authenticity and I personally liked to walk among stalls, small shops and the large covered market. There are also temples and many places to eat. If you are in Singapore, a visit is worth it!

However you still can see the some crowd during weekend along main street and it is better now to capture street photos as less people gets into your way when composing for pictures. The shop house is lined with many Chinese restaurant and the choice is endless.. that your time to pick.

What a fun place to visit! Loved the shopping and the food. This is definitely a must do while visiting Singapore! Take time for a meal in the hawker center and be sure to check out all the handmade goods hidden among the tourist traps. There are some beautiful shops! The people were lovely but there was a sign warning of pick pockets, so pay attention.

It was nice to visit China Town after long time. COVID-19 indeed has been bad and lots of businesses were affected and it's very evidently visible as most of the shops there are still closed. While we can see few tourists coming over; hopefully now that Singapore has opened up the borders for tourists, hopefully we can gradually see businesses reopening and crowd getting back to pre-Covid levels. Captured a very nice Mural that I thought should post here. Do visit China Town for more of these.

Visited Chinatown at night to feel the Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere. The streets are well decorated and the decorations look great! Chinatown is packed with many nice food stalls and has many oriental products. Instead of getting products online, you can purchase many of these items at physical stores, which decreases the waiting time during shipment. The streets can get quite crowded during festive seasons but during these festivities and it can get quite exciting!

Public transport is so convenient here! They have live timings to get to where you’d want to go. We took a bus to Chinatown and it was my kids first time there. Traders were friendly and very kind to my kids. We enjoyed walking around and looking at trinkets. Didn’t manage to enter the temple this round but will definitely be back next time to explore more.

If Chinatown looks more or less like the same worldwide to you, you may find some fun searching for graffitis in this one. They are here and there hidden at different corners telling you about the ordinary lives there in the past. There is also a street with shade showing you how the shops were like.

Chinatown is a very popular market. You will find many good food items here. Food prices are a bit high because it's Singapore, but you will get a lot of good food. Even if you don't want to eat just go and walk around. You can also go and visit the Budha tooth relic temple there. Anyway, don't forget to put your sunscreen on and have a good time there.

Attractive places for foreigners to visit. Many restaurants for you to choose but expected waiting long time and costly for some famous restaurants. Many gifts shop for you to buy souvenir. Price almost the same for each shop. Quite fair cost.
