One of the MOST famous temple in Singapore...Kwan Im Thong.(观音堂) located at Waterloo Street. Next to the Kwan Im Thong is an Hindu Temple...Sri Krishna Temple. Kwan Im Thong, very famous amoung Kwan Im Liang Liang worshipper. During Kwang Im anniversaries and on the 1st and 15th day of the lunar month you could find huge crowd but for now (due to the pandermic situation) long, long queue at distancing distance queueing patiently to enter for prayer. Temple will be close on weekend and public holiday. Opening hours is Mon ~ Fri from 0700 - 1830 hours and 50 persons were allowed to enter each time. With the allocation of spaces for vendors, the area now looks organised and more spacious, leaving more space for worshipper. Besides those flower and joss stick seller, you could also find fortune teller and traditional Chinese massage and icecream seller. Oppisite the temple is the Albert Center, with market, shops and a hawker center. Nearby is the Fu Lu Shou Complex and OG Shopping Center. Right in front of Fu Lu Shou Complex is a row of stall selling sovernoir, etc...and you could finish up having food either at the hawker center or at the row of food stall opposite OG for vegetarian food.

They have good safe distancing arrangement and entry to this temple was rather smooth. A lot of old people selling praying stuff outside the temple. Good place to see and witness the live of older generation here. Chinese New Year time quite crowded though.

Serenity, clean temple, free incense and comprehensive sign board. Sculpture looks great but I'm not allowed to take photos so can't show it here. Otherwise everything is great, especially since it is a historic temple for Singaporean early settlers. Pro: Easy access Comprehensive sign board Free incense Cons: Can't think of any

One of the most famous Chinese temples in Singapore. Legends says that if you are sincere in your praying, it will be answered. However, as a devotee, I highly recommend to pray for safety, instead of praying for wealth at the respectable temple here.

If you need divine intervention, some advice from heaven, please come here. It can help you analyse your current situation very well and predict your personal future accurately. Just be sincere when you pray and do donate generously to help the poor (many of them sell tissues outside the temple. Not scam. Quite a number of them are really sick with no money).

Very Bad & horrible oganisation during the special Kwan Yin Dan today! Despite the long queue, temple ignores all the devotees standing under the hot sun, especially the old & aged, did not provide the necessary support nor precautions against cut queuing. 🙄

This place always amazed me. Always crowded, many people come here for praying, Mother Guanyin always a good place to be a place for us to pray, send gratitude or maybe have some problems and need heavenly help. Many people say in here if you pray is You Qiu Bi Ying (有求必应 If you have good wishes, they will be granted . Om Mani Padme Hum, Xie Shen En.

Often visit Kwan Im Temple for prayers through the year and already expected huge crowds and queue to form during Chinese New Year period (especially Day 1). Despite the rain and snaking long queue, it didn't dampen the mood of devotees to queue and offer their prayers. Parking can be challenging, and we parked in nearby malls and walk over

I feel peaceful when I am inside. It's a pity that it's closed now. It's a pity that due to COVID-19, there is no more stalls outside the temple. It's used to be so vibrant with an interesting mix of items on sale.

All tourists should visit Kwan Im Thong and get a fortune telling in order to complete your journey in Singapore. The accuracy of the predictions are 90% accurate. The Kwan Im or The Bodhisattva statue is one of the best in Singapore and is mesmerizing. Enjoy the carvings in the temple while getting your lucky ‘Chim’ or fortune prediction.

Pray here often and blessings from Guan Yin, make a small donation and bring some flowers each time. I usually buy flowers from an old lady’s stall just directly opposite the Guan Yin statue. Do help her out if you pass by, she is a very kind old lady trying to survive by selling flowers!

Another awesome spiritual place. So much of positive energy. Today I just stood right in front of her. My mind was absolutely blank. I could hear 100s of prayers being chanted from the devotees. It felt peaceful. I just stood there gazing at her beautiful face and not asking for anything but just seeking absolute peace of mind. I have been here many times - each time the experience gets better. I will return. Gosh - immense beauty - thank you GOD!

I will visit this Temple whenever I'm free. This is a place where Buddhists & Taoists will go to pray. During normal days, there is no queue. However, on the birthdays of 'Goddess of Mercy', the queue to enter can be more than half an hour. Free entry, no dress code, no taking of photos/videos inside.

I've heard many true stories of Buddha believers who went to pray there, and after praying, their problems were truly solved. It really helps, no matter what you pray for, except when you're greedy for money or have ill intentions. At their counter, you can also ask for a Chinese talisman for yourself to put in your wallet, or you can ask for a door Chinese talisman too.

This is one famous Chinese temple in Chinatown, Singapore. I looked up over internet to visit this temple and solely for this, I went to Chinatown. One should go inside to observe the very beautiful statues and understand the culture. Outside the temple, there was a bustling street with a variety of shops.

This temple is next to Indian temple. The co-operation between both worshipers of both fates shows the great respect the Singaporeans ( Chinese and Indians ) have for each others' fate. I have seen chinese worshipers coming over to the Indian temple to pray to Ganesh - Elephant God. Similaly, Indians worshiper also goes over to chinese temple and bow in front of the temple. Very nice and touching to see this.

Every day thousands of devotees visiting the temple to pray for blessings from Kwan Yin. Devotees believe that they will be blessed after worshiping at the temple, thus making it one of the most visited temples in Singapore. Devotees are known to visit the temple on the first or fifteenth day of Chinese New Year seeking blessings. On the eve of Chinese New Year, the temple is opened all night and the street is often packed with devotees queuing shoulder to shoulder to enter the temple hall to offer their incense to the Kwan Yin in hope for an auspicious start to the New Year.

Very busy Temple on Waterloo walking street. Many vendors out front if you will like to buy flowers or joss stick for offering. Recommend unique - and slightly dangerous experience of coming here at midnight lunar New year Eve. Be prepared to queue with a couple thousand people trying to put very large burning incense sticks into the pot early first in the new year. Smoky but is a unique event in Singapore.

Chinese temple with many locals and tourists praying for health and wealth. Some even pray for peace, pregnancy, studies and marriage etc. The building has very nice chinese culture design structure. The praying is free and you can give donations if you wish to. Weekends would be very crowded and there are many good food and shops for you to spend 2~3 hours there.

A historic temple in the Waterloo Street belt honouring Avalokiteshvara and other Buddhas/Deities. Well loved by locals and foreign visitors alike. Expect big but orderly crowds during the first and fifteenth of each lunar month, as well as traditional feast days.

  • 3/5 tan t. 3 years ago on Google
The area ourside the temple is cramped with stalls selling joss sticks and flowers. Very disorganised and crampy especially during temple festivals. They should install permanent booths for these stalls and locate them away from the temple entrance. This is to ensure safety and proper crowd control during temple festivals.

One of the busiest temple in Singapore. Lots of visitors everyday, most would just light a few joss-sticks, pray and leave in a few minutes. Lots of hawkers outside selling prayers offerings, flowers etc. A few fortune tellers as well. Nearby hawker centre and shopping centres worth a visit, especially OG Shopping Centre. Fu Lu Shou sells a variety of dried foodstuff, Chinese medicines and has a famous fengshui master.

Visited this temple for prayer and to offer my gratitude. Currently, there is crowd control and all visitors have to join the queue to enter. Can be super long queue on auspicious or specific prayer days. 3 joss sticks are provided after one entered the sheltered queue area. If you happen to purchase a pack of joss sticks, you can also consider leaving the pack on the trolley provided. Prayers inside the temple has to be done standing, no kneeling is allowed due to crowd control. If you happen to bring flowers or any other offerings to pray, there is no table or place to leave the offerings, you will need to bring along with you after the prayer or you can dispose it just before the exit. For family, love and well being, I pray.

(Translated by Google) When you are depressed and doing nothing goes well, you may feel the Buddha and Bodhisattva right by your side there. Pray for blessings, everything may allow you to have the best arrangement unexpectedly. (Original) 当你情绪低落的时候、做任何事都不顺时,那里或许可以感觉佛菩萨就在你身边。祈求加持,一切都可能让你有意想不到的最好安排。

Earliest memory here was when I visited here to pray with my grandmother. Still the same exciting, crowded and famous temple. It's well organised now with marked entry and exit for crowd control and building is well taken care.

You can come to pay respects at the temple then go to Albert Food court near to have your meals. There is plenty of food in that hawker.

Never fail to make my prayers and wishes whenever I pass by there. Very well organised and crowd control. For food lovers, plenty choices of food surrounding the area.

The queue to the temple on certain occasion can sometimes be long but it moves relatively fast, so do not be deterred by the queue. The people are all very patient and kind. Everyone is considerate. Crowd management is also okay.

Usually quite busy during holidays. Kwan Im is vegetarian so you can give fruits/flowers/incense to the temple for donations.

Went on a Sunday during Lunar calendar 15th day of the fifth month to pray for blessings. As usual it was crowded but it was organised with a queue lining up from one turn to the other and to the temple and it was smooth going. Was given blessed sweets and banana for good health and happiness.
