This is an amazing temple quietly nestled in the CBD area. The decorations in the temple are very intricate and detailed. Photography inside the prayer hall is prohibited, but you can still see the decorations outside which look like they have been delicately crafted. The temple is also well known for those seeking to look for a match in love, quite a number of devotees came here to pray in search for a match.

Poor 'Holy' giant turtle kept in tiny plastic box and security guards to stop folks taking photos. Nice temple, the the management has their priorities wrong. I would report them to animal welfare but they may harm or kill the turtle. See photo.

An old Chinese temple in the middle of the Central Business District. The contrast between the modern skyscrapers and the old temple buildings is stark. Stepping past the temple doors, I sensed the difference in the mood from the fast paced bankers walking around to the slowness within the temple. I think it’s amazing that in the rapid changes in Singapore, an old temple can still be preserved in the middle of prime business land.

Nice temple with over a hundred years of history. There are figurines depicting chinese classicals on the roof. Traditionally for sailors to give thanks to Mazu for the good voyage from China to Singapore. Now we can go there to pray for spouse too (拜月老). One of the signboard in the temple was given by one of the last emperor in China. Its an interesting place, go check it out.

The Temple of the Calm Sea. Built in 1895. National monument of Singapore. Incredible colorful bas reliefs on the front terrace and in the courtyard. The roof deserves a special mention. Highly recommend.

From Wiki: Yueh Hai Ching Temple (Traditional Chinese 粵海清廟, Simplified Chinese 粤海清庙),[1] also known as the Wak Hai Cheng Bio from its Teochew pronunciation Built in the 19th century. It is given an Award of Merit for 2014 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation Yueh Hai Ching Temple was divided into two temples, each with its own entrance. The right temple is dedicated to Xuan Tian Shang Di, otherwise known as Duo Lau Yah. The left temple is dedicated to Tian Hou Sheng Mu, otherwise known as Ma Zu. The Xuan Tian Shang Di is a god worshipped by the Taoist. It is very much respected and worshipped by the secret societies in 19th Century. Mazu is worshipped as she guides ships to safety in times of peril. The Yueh Hai Ching Temple is an expression of a Taoist temple of Chinese architecture.

This temple is one of the oldest Taoist Temples in Singapore and started life as a thatched wooden shrine on the waterfront where sailors, gave thanks for reaching Singapore safely which sailors might do on their way to the bars and other delights a few blocks up. It was an interesting temple and definitely worth a look.

Known among many as Love temple, the place is popular for singles seeking partners. Originally, the temple, whose name literally means "Temple of the Calm Sea", was the first stop for Chinese immigrants to Singapore in the early 19th century.

A very beautifully constructed temple. A perfect example of the traditional style in the southeast coast of China. The details of the relief sculpture and the paintings on the doors are simply fascinating.

The Yueh Hai Ching temple was built in the early 1820's. It is the oldest Teochew temple in Singapore. This temples was built too thank the Gods for a safe passage from China to Singapore. Over the years, the temple slowly deteriorated as a result of the weather and also ruined by termite infestation. In 2011, the temple was restored and it was completed in 2014, it has become a tourist site that should be not be missed. It has elaborated roof structures and consultants and builders were brought in to advice on the restoration of the temple Though the site is small, it is a temple not to be missed!

“Yueh Hai Ching temple - Love Temple” in Singapore, the go-to place for any love seekers eager for Yue Lao’s and Xuan Tian Shang Di (Heavenly Father) blessings.Might be an old superstition but still feels good to do on Valentine’s day😃🤣❤️. This temple is located in the CBD area and easily reachable. It is believed that if we had an heart-felt prayer to the god and the goddess of this temple they bless us with our loved life.

Old temple in the midst of the hustle and bustle, and concrete city of Singapore. Famed for the 'Yue Lao', or Moon Elder, who is in charge of matchmaking in the heavens. Approach any friendly men behind the temple tables and ask them how to pray to the Yue Lao, and they will guide you, after which you'd need to give a small red packet as a token of appreciation. Good luck!

Well maintain and got even better after Ngee Ann took over the managenent. Was a bit crowded as it was 妈祖旦 when I visited. They put up a opera staging for the celebration.

I found this temple randomly on the way to the MRT station. When I first saw it I was like :" Wow, what is this place?" , and I knew I had to go in and see everything inside. It was a small temple among high buildings. It was like the hidden gem of Singapore, suddenly show up like a big surprise to people. It was very quiet and calm inside and there were not too many people so that it felt like busy life stay outside of the door when you walked in. The temple was very gorgeous and colorful. Each color was the symbol of a good things.

A temple in the CBD, it has seen the ups and downs of Singapore’s financial district. This beautiful temple, with the towering skyscrapers in the background, offers a sharp contrast of Singapore’s past and present. On the 14th night of the Lunar New year, throngs of people will bring their offerings to the temple, seeking blessings for the year. The number have been dwindling over the years and especially after the more recent renovations.

The famous Temple of 玄天上帝 & 天后圣母. The architecture of the Temple is uniquely pure arts of chinese cultures. Enshrined in the Temple is also 月下老人, the God of Love. This Temple sees many singles coming forward for blessings to meet the love of their lives.

Peaceful Chinese temple that just randomly attracted me to suddenly google one day and went to visit ( can’t recall if before or during Covid period ). I just got a random connection to urge me to research on Ma Zu temple near raffles area, and I believed it was a fate between me and Ma Zu there or maybe even with the Yue Lao goddess. Even though I may not have prayed in the correct manner and therefore wish is yet to come true, I still feel grateful to have paid a few visits to this tranquil temple. 🍀🙏🏻

Beautiful temple in the middle of the CBD. This temple is rich in history with it being over a hundred years old. In the early days, people sailing in and out the country would come to the temple to pray or give thanks to the goddess Mazu for safe journeys (There are other dieties in the temple as well). This temple was an important place for many new arrivals to Singapore in the past. The temple features intricate wood carvings on the exterior which has been restored over the years. The carvings are beautiful. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

The historic Yueh Hai Ching temple is one of the oldest Chinese community temples in Singapore that was originally founded for migrant seafarers to give thanks and make offerings when they came ashore. Located in Raffles Place central business district and surrounded by high rise skyscrapers, it is a convenient and leisurely 5-minute walk from Raffles Place MRT station. Upon entering its main gate, one steps back in time to old Singapore. The temple complex comprises 2 separate temples with their own entrances and sanctuaries: on the left is the Tianhou Shengmu or Mazu temple [the patron deity of seafarers and migrants]; on the right is the Xuantian Shangdi temple. The temple has been restored to it's former glory. Do also admire and the ornate carvings on the roof and ceilings and walls.
