Very impressive experience and certainly a quick and easy way to learn about the unique Chinese culture here in Singapore. The content is certainly tailored closer to locals, but will certainly help foreign friends relate better. Overall, a great concept with various intriguing touch points. The advanced learners seeking deeper findings may find the exhibition here a little superficial- then again, this is for the masses. Great facility, convenient in fair weather. Family friendly with clean toilets.

Totally wowed by a first visit to this place. Singapo 人 exhibit has something for everyone and very enjoyable and interactive. Segment on food appeals to everyone. Fantastic roof top with great views of city port. Ground floor atrium exhibit of various dialect groups was informative. Overall, very well done.

I think that both foreigners and Singaporeans can learn about cultures and history that they seem to know but do not know. There's a hands-on learning facility, so it's a lot of fun! Let me visit again🥳Thank you!

"What does it mean to be a Singaporean Chinese?" Don't let the name "cultural center" fool you, this place is a magical and modern tourist destination! First of all, entry is free. Second of all, I totally recommend visiting this lovely building! If you want to learn about history and take instagrammable photos, here you can do both! They display information and their collection of items in an interactive and fun way. Adult and children can definitely enjoy this experience while learning facts and tidbits about life as a Singaporean Chinese. Open drawers of a colorful shelf, scan your bracelet tag to answer a survey, find a wall lined with bowls of local cuisine, press a button, open a door to find a secret dining room, the surprise just keeps coming! After exploring the gallery, you can visit the rooftop garden as well. I visited when they had a series of 12 Chinese zodiac decoration, which are really cute and photogenic. The pig one steals my heart but the mouse is the best one yet. The place is not crowded as well, this is a recommended place if youre looking for a fun and playful learning experience. Enjoy your trip!

Very well done exhibition. It's free entry, air conditioned on the second level, and worth the visit if you haven't been. We spent about 30-45min here. It's all very kid / family friendly. The greeters will help you through registration at the start of the show and you're left to explore the exhibit. It's very interactive, with interesting facts, games, and more. I'm visiting Singapore from Canada and had a good time learning.

It's great, i enjoy going there. Definitely you'll gonna have fun. It's an interactive museum which showcase Singapore Chinese culture in a way you can look back what was life or tradition before and other things that may or may not exist today. You can also go to the roof deck for more selfie or groupie.

Visited the SINGAPO人 exhibition during August and it’s by far one of the most engaging exhibit I’ve visited. One can expect to spend an approximate of 1 hour in it. Bonus: Do check out the rooftop after the exhibit for an awesome panoramic view!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, and I must say it was an absolutely delightful experience. This cultural gem offers a captivating journey into the heart of Chinese heritage and artistry. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a wealth of information about the rich history and traditions of the Chinese community in Singapore. The exhibitions were both educational and visually stunning. I was particularly impressed by the insightful displays that showcased the contributions of the Chinese community to Singapore's multicultural tapestry. The interactive exhibits made learning about Chinese culture engaging and enjoyable for visitors of all ages.

Nice cultural center. Top floor (highest) allows u to view the landscape of the city. Nothing much but the view is worth your 5-10mins. There are some Ang ku kueh girl exhibition at level 8 and 7 i think, but it is just some posters… nothing much. The highlight is level 2, where u register yourself and named your token (probably NFC). U use the token to answer or interacts with the exhibits inside the center. It is fun and u get a report at the end of the tour. Very nice. Highly recommended. The exhibits are off high quality. If u wanna know more about singapore, u need to come here. Read the words, watch the videos and interacts with the exhibits. U can easily spend 2-3 hrs alone at level 2. If u like to read, 3-4 hrs. Highly recommend.

I never knew of this place previously but apparently it is opened on 19 May 2017 by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. It is shocking as the place felt very new and well maintained. Free admission here! And there are free guided tours on weekends (first come first served), where you walk in and register at L2. Attended the SINGAPO人 exhibition which is pretty interactive! When you first arrive, you pick a bracelet strap that has a circular token which you will use to register. There are three colors - blue, green and orange available but they have no difference in terms of functionality. When you register, basic info like your age, ethnicity etc will be requested. There will be white machines scattered in the exhibition, where you will be tapping on the answer with the circular token. It shows you the % of people who made the same choice as you. For more details on the different zone in the exhibition, visit the following link: https://singaporen.sg/exhibition/about/

Free for entry, got temporary exhibitions on level 7 and Root top garden. Level 2 is the most fun part of the whole centre as it got an interactive bracket for checking your understanding of Chinese culture. I will say I did learn a lot of new insights from this place but I was expecting more stuff as I feel this place is huge but empty. Recommend visiting from you are interested in Singapore Chinese culture no matter which ethnic group you identify as.

Been here for the 100 years of Singapore art exhibition. Good exhibition hall with friendly staff. Do check out the permanent exhibition on local chinese culture on their second level! Also, do not miss the rooftop garden. Managed to catch the planes rehearsal for National Day parade on my visit.

What's not to like about free exhibitions! It is also educational and refreshing for Chinese and non-Chinese alike! The permanent exhibition on Chinese Singaporean culture has about 12 rooms of 15 minutes. You can spend around 2 hours slowly reading and playing with their set ups! I really like that they adapted the interactive wrist tags and buttons similar to National Gallery of Singapore. They ask you questions like if you were also caned when young, or if you prefer breadtalk or old chang kee. They also show the amount of people who also chose the same answer. At the end, you can print out your unique ticket that shows your choices :) Seems a little data collection for me but it's still fun to do! Some rooms talk about local cuisines and food, its history, and has realistic wax designs of it! They really go in depth into laksa and kaya toast, linking it to other cultures and races in Singapore to have the unique hawker center culture we have today. Other rooms talk about chinese traditions like Qin Ming, and history of Chinese immigrants moving into Singapore. Some rooms are quite nostalgic as they have childhood memoirs that you can touch and move, like casette players and chou chous! It's really informative but not too overwhelming! They also have their 100 years of Singapore Art exhibition. You can easily spend more than an hour here appreciating the ACTUALLY good art! There are beautiful oil paintings of old Clarke Quay, people, and of course the Chinese favourite of roosters and herons. The oil canvases really invoke a sense of nostalgia and wonder as you appreciate each stroke that forms up the Singapore River. Definitely come take a look! Finally, we went up to the rooftop. It is currently rabbit-themed according to the 12 zodiacs. They have a fake mahjong table, fake hotpot, some swings and pretty wall murals! Would love to see how they will switch it up for the year of the Dragon next :)

The Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre has a nice roof terrace garden which has views of the sea. The center also holds exhibitions and events from time to time such as one on the interpretation of Chinese mythology and mythical figures or a collective market at the ground floor.

The contemporary dance held at the rooftop is a great idea. Letting people move as dancers dance around the garden made the dancers and audience more connected in spirit. At times I was sitting up close where the dancers performed and you can see their expression depicting the moment. Great choreography and good weather is certainly great. Great Job and place to be.

Great way to make use of a small space to feature culture. However, I didnt see much of culture related exhibits other than the one on stone name stamps. As a cultural centre, I thought I'd see samples of artwork from generations past or photo exhibits but sadly, a few sculptures and paintings are scattered around the area. Highlights of this location are the wide open spaces, especially the roof garden. I'd be keen to carry out an event here.

More people need to experience the Singapo人 exhibition!! A fun, interactive and wholesome way to spend a rainy afternoon in Singapore. I do see it from the lens of a Chinese Singaporean who is curious about my roots though, but there's a good variety of information types to catch different fancies - even a couple of cool IG worthy spots if you're into that. There's parking in the building - but beware that it's pretty steep! Was there for about 2odd hours and was charged close to 10 dollars 😢

  • 5/5 Joyce T. 3 years ago on Google
Although it's an interactive exhibition about the SG culture, it definitely shares so much more uniqueness of SG that is relevant to everyone, not only the Chinese. Great for all ages, local and tourists. You'll need to put on gloves during this COVID-19 period before going through the exhibition.

This was my first visit to the SCCC with a friend. It was a very rewarding and pleasant experience! Level 2 Singapo人 exhibition The exhibitions were very interactive in nature and encouraged participation from the guests. The text content featured were also easy to digest even with a simple command of Chinese. Not to worry, there are also bilingual translation provided for easier reading. The staff there were very friendly and had good attitude towards the guests. The old lady staff was particularly caring in helping us setup our token in order for us to enjoy the exhibition properly. She was also very polite with her words and was also articulate in both English and Chinese. She wished for us to enjoy the exhibition as we began our journey. She was also present as we finished our tour and it was nice chatting with her as we left the place. The SCCC provides a warm and inviting environment for its guests. I will definitely recommend members of the public to visit this place and of course will bring other friends along with me the next time i visit again!

Great interactive experience at the Singapo人 exhibition on Level 2 with helpful staffs and guided tours available at selected timings. There was another free exhibition at Level 9-10 titled Afterwords, but the staffs on duty outside the auditorium at Level 9 restricted us from accessing the exhibition on Level 10, saying that Afterwords is not open to public and they are just closing one eye in letting us view part of the exhibition on Level 9. We checked with the security at Level 1 and he affirmed that Afterwords was a free exhibition opened to public as published on their poster and we shouldn't have been turned away. Apart from this unpleasant encounter with the staffs on Level 9 who spoke to us in a dismissive, condescending tone and disallowing us to view the rest of the exhibition, it was otherwise a good visit and would recommend this to friends.

Visited this place for the “兔gether” art installation and at the meantime visited the Singapo人 exhibition. The art installation is located at the roof garden and it’s better to visit in the night when it’s not so hot. You’ll be done with viewing the roof garden in less than 30 minutes. It’s not a very big place. For the Singapo人 exhibition, it’s a great place to understand the Singaporean Chinese culture and how different Chinese dialects contributed to the modern singlish and Singaporean culture. There are also guided tours available. Guides are intuitive and very detailed. Highly recommended.

First time step into this place. Very serene. There is a big tv that airs preview of shows. Definitely a good place to see concerts and plays. Love the theatre.

A bit off the beaten path, 5min walk from the nearest Tanjong Pagar MRT exit. Currently it is showing an extensive exhibition of art by Chinese artists, many renowned ones like Chen Wen Hsi & Cheong Soo Peng. There’s also the permanent Singapore Ren interactive exhibition tailored for the young and young at heart. Don’t forget to check out the picturesque roof top for quirky installations and fantastic view of the port and bay.

The place is free of charge. Got to know a lot about Singaporean Chinese culture. Very educational and interactive experience. A very good place to go with friends and family, or by oneself.

Went there for the SINGAPO人 and 兔gether exhibitions. The 兔gether exhibition theme is based on the year of the rabbit. Looks cute though the exhibition itself is quite small. Also, it was on the rooftop and it rained when we visited so it wasn't that pleasant of a visit. The SINGAPO人 exhibition theme was about the history and characteristics of the Singapore Chinese culture. There was a lot of content and it was very informative. Recommended to visit this.

Everyone who wants to know more about the evolution of Chinese people over the generations in Singapore should pay a visit. The exhibits are interactive and it caters to both English and Chinese speaking (reading) crowds. I brought my family (includes a 70+ year old and a 4 year old) and they all enjoyed the time spent here. The curation of the exhibits are great. Kudos to the SCCC team. And it’s free! Strongly recommended.

Love the super interactive experience and the insightful exhibits. The Singapore Chinese Culture Centre is definitely worth a visit. It's a culture centre not only for Chinese but for all races too.

Visited the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre before the closing time. It closes at 8pm and we reached around 7pm, the staff are really friendly and they gave a short introduction to the exhibition. At the beginning, the staff gave us RFID tags because most of the exhibits are interactive. Overall, this is a very great experience to learn about culture! Definitely worth a visit!

Enjoyed the exhibition featuring a wide range of works (traditional and modern take on caligraphy, paintings of all genre) from this society of local artists.
