I visited the Chesed-El Synagogue during the My Community Festival. It is a privilege because, if I am not wrong, it is the first time that this synagogue is opened to the public. Thank you for the hospitality. The place is really beautiful.

Gorgeous place of worship. It is clean, beautifully structured and well maintained. The acoustics are also brilliant because no microphone was needed. It is elegant, tasteful and it felt safe.

Chesed-El synagogue is a modern Orthodox Sephardic synagogue located on a hill near the Registry of Marriage. The synagogue was built at the turn of the 20th century by Sir Manesseh Meyer, who was an influential trader in the early days of Singapore, and who by some estimates was at one point one of the wealthiest men in the world. Chesed El offers public prayer services on Saturday (Shabbat) in the morning and afternoon, on Monday and Thursday mornings, and Friday evening. Prior to the pandemic, free meals were also offered after prayer services, though due to the latest restrictions some of these offerings may be partially or fully on hold. Regarding accessing Chesed El synagogue, by foot it is about a 10 minute walk from Dhoby Gaut MRT station. It is also a 10 minute walk from Somerset MRT/313 mall. If driving, there is hourly parking available across the street at The Rise at Oxley residential building.
