I would have score 1 but it is in a great location. I had room 314 as did another reviewer. It was the worst room I’ve ever stayed jn. Super small, dirty and mould in the bathroom. The bed is on the floor - which I wouldn’t car about if it was comfortable- However it was horrible and old. Springs sticking out and sunken. It is 2 single mattresses pushed together so there’s also a massive lump in the middle It is noisy. The TV did not have any channels. And the so called smart bit was not connected with to the internet. I have stayed here once before and it was ok in a different room. If you get the horrible room it is not worth the money and is more like a backpacker stay. No one seemed care about the property. Only saving grace is it’s location I will not stay again.

A horrible and terrible one night experience! NOT RECOMMEND! I was planning to stay in this hotel for 4 nights, but I only manage to stay only one night cause the hotel is so bad! The room is tiny, about 5 to 6 m2, no table, no chair. On one small cupboard for the TV. Even no bed, only a double mattress was literally put on the ground! It's also very dirty! The pillow has strong stale odor, smells rotting. Large brown color stains are literally on the inner pillow. It's super noisy as well, I had no sleep at all. The staffs are not very friendly, charged me extra 45 SD for checking out in early. It is claimed as "3 star hotel", well I don't know who authorised this "3-star" badge, maybe by itself? 千万别去,枕头是馊臭的,枕芯上一片片褐黄色污渍,房间很小,没桌子没椅子,只有一个双人床垫放在地板上。

This is one of the WORST Budget Hotels in SG in my opinion. I paid 234 SGD for 2 nights and the hotel is not worth the price. The room is super tiny, the bed foam is so old that you can feel every single spring. The walls are too thin that you can hear people walking in the hallway. We are late sleepers because we work at night so sleep in the morning is very important to us. Unfortunately, we were awaken by the housekeepers walking back and forth with a bucket clanking every time they pass by. We stayed at 314 which is beside the elevator so imagine the worst case scenario. We ended up checking out earlier than expected to transfer to another hotel so we can get a good sleep. We checked out at approximately 7pm when our check out time is supposed to be the next day. I did not bother to ask for compensation since I know they are still trying to recover from the pandemic BUT this hotel should be avoided if you have other options.

For the price I expected much better. The rooms need to be renovated for sure. The good thing: Very friendly staff A shame for the hotel itself because the staff and location are amazing.

I am not sure how places go about getting star ratings but I had such a bad experience here I left after 1 night. I was booked here for more than 10 days. We live in a world where health and hygiene are of utmost importance but here there was black mould on the bathroom ceiling and the open vent in the bathroom ceiling means I could here the man in the next room going to the bathroom. After telling the person at the front desk I handed in my room card and left

Unfortunately 1929 is not the hotel it used to be. Yes - the rooms are tiny, but they used to be chic with nice touches like a tiny mini bar and a sense of style. This has all gone now. The lobby is very messy, not the kooky inviting place it used to be. Photos are misleading. Such a shame as this used to be my favourite place to stay in Singapore.

My boat is more spacious and has better facilities than the room. Very noisy as the corridor is used for storage and you could hear the plastic bags rustling the whole morning. The toilet was running and you could hear it the whole night. After a shower/bide, the shower will keep on dripping on you, as the whole cramped bathroom is the shower/toilet. Mouldy.

The location is good cause you can go walking to the metro. The room is EXTREME Small, so you don't have any place to walk or to put your luggage. The laundry room is close to the rooms so we were in the second floor and the housekeeping worked very early in the morning, washing clothes and we hear every time the washing machine bell, that was very annoying. On the street are different bars so could be very very noisy if you want to rest. I will not really recommend this place 😔

walls are old and stained, lamp and tv doesnt work. Pictures of room are completely different than what it was in reality (as good as a scam). Completely shocked by the dismal quality of the hotel room. Booked for a staycaytion but didnt even bother to stay overnight

Just refer below to Tracey's review below, as I'm sure I stayed in the same room as her from the photo she took. Quite shocking to see stains on the walls, peeling wallpaper, a dark black (mould?) stain conveniently placed on the underside of the bed sheets, mould in the bathroom ceiling, that you can hear the person above using the bathroom in EVERY way, mould all over the windows, but at least the shower tiles looked okay, but I still used flip flops. On top of the most Singaporean welcome during check-in, (don't expect friendly service from anyone except the cleaners) I was shocked to see piles of clean, or perhaps dirty, laundry was piled in the hallways as soon as you exit the elevator. On my last day before checkout, I called the elevator down, but the guy at front desk told me something confusing about the elevator taking 10 minutes despite it arriving at the ground floor. Really not a huge deal as I'm able bodied, but could be for someone else, not that getting around Singapore in a wheelchair seems easy by any means. What bothered me was the dark staircase had even more laundry and plastic bags piled throughout, which I could have slipped on. A previous review mentioned how this place used to be much better, which I could believe, but it seems to have fallen in a state of disrepair. Also seems to not be in every room, so it could be a crapshoot whether you get a mouldy room, or a decent one. Photos posted online are clearly years old, as they were not representative of what I got. This isn't the hotel's fault, but there are a few drinking holes around, so expect taxi drivers to be driving by honking at people at 1am,completelt oblivious, or what I like to think, carrying that classic Singapore "I'm here to make money, so I don't care about how my actions affect others" mentality which is echoed by the management's lack of care in maintaining what could be a pretty cute hotel in a central area.

Waited 20 mins at the front desk before someone attended to me. They gave us a room on the second floor which was smelly and dirty and sound proofing was not good at all. Asked for a change in rooms and it was not any better. Place was so bad i didnt want to stay the night. Left the place in less than an hour. Be warned.

Good hotel to stay in if you’re prioritising location. Very central in Chinatown with plenty of nearby cafes and restaurants. Close to the MRT and multiple malls. Hotel itself in terms of quality is essentially a budget hotel. Small room and there was mould growing on the ceilings. Blanket was very small so we had to ask for another although we were only given a bedsheet. We didn’t hear any noise from our room as it faced away from the street which was good and we slept well. Overall - very good location and fine if you’re okay with budget-level facilities.

If you are looking for a large, luxurious room with turndown service and a mint on your pillow, go somewhere else. If you are looking for a clean private room with your own bathroom at a reasonable price, this might be the place for you. There is nothing fancy here, but it was definitely clean and well-maintained.

Hotel was awful. Terrible condition and dirty. Rooms were very small and i don’t think our was cleaned. There was intense smell of urine, but when i went to reception, the receptionist (Suzanne) upgraded me to a room on a different floor, and it was ok. Never gonna sleep there again, thankfully spent there only one night.

The staff especially Adeline and Susan friendly and helpful. They reached out the moment I made the reservation to help with accommodations . I was able to conveniently message them directly for reservations for their restaurant.Keep up the great work

The room we had was with mold on the walls. Very small. It's a bit pricey for rooms like this, to be honest. But the location is really good.

The room is cozy enough for an overnight stay, with some kind of elemental vintage and modern vibes combined. The front desk staff and the housekeeping attendants all portrayed very good service. The location is a plus as well.

This is a low end budget hotel. The rooms are small and cramped. Staff are helpful and friendly. Located in a place where most things are accessible.

It was very correct. Located in the China town, close to the food market. The minus was a very intense smell in the room. That’s why one star less, it was a bit disturbing

If you are looking for a cheap place to crash while in Singapore, this hotel isn't a bad choice. It is right in Chinatown, in the midst of all the bars, local temples, street market and hawker center. The room is small but not an issue if you just need a bed to sleep on. Same with the bathroom too. There is no table so you have to be creative if you need to do work or eat some takeout food. The wall is paper thin. I could hear people talking at 2am in the morning in the hallway trying to get into their room (I presume). The internet is actually pretty good, strong signal and reliable speed. Be prepared to be woken up at 7am when the nearby temples goes about doing some chanting accompanied by gongs.

Heritage building. Room is small with accent of modern and very clean. Aircon is cold includes TV, electric kettle, blow dryer. Small bathroom very clean and bright with good pressure in water. All staff including cleaner are friendly and accommodating. This room has a small balcony where I can smoke but room door has to be closed. MRT, restaurants are very close by. 2 bottle of complimentary water provided. Smart TV you can login to your own Netflix. This place deserves respect and there were no shortcomings. Stayed 5 days and will stay here again if I come back.

Upgraded my room for free and it has a huge balcony. There is food smell in the hotel rooms and corridors. Should be from restaurants below. Bed is very hard but not too bad to spend a few nights. Room is clean but shower water will run out of hot water really fast. Toilet needs some repairs but overall it was a good experience.

Fine for a few nights, but small and noisy. Our room was clean and there was enough storage space.

The staff was helpful but room was very small. Did a day stay since our flight arrived in the morning and we had some time till our next transit flight. Close walking distance to China town.
