Having just seated 30 minutes at the bar table, after waiting at a “standing table” for 30 minutes. Waiter A: Hey, we are expecting customers with bookings, can we move you outside? Me: Sure we can move. We want one more bottle of wine, and then… I spilled my drink just now. Can I get it replaced? Bartender: HEY. You spilled the drink yourself yes? Before I could answer… Bartender yelling: HEY, you spilled it yourself. I would have made it for you. But why did you lie? WHY DID YOU LIE? Can you imagine yourself being yelled at in this so called “intimate” bar? Maybe the music was a little loud… maybe the people working have had a bad day… Or maybe they don’t really like Singapore. Whatever it is, I would say - just go to another bar :)

I heard great things about this place but what a disappointment. The current decor is French discotheque so it’s a tacky silver cloth all over the ceiling. The cocktails are ok - not spectacular. So far it’s all ok. Cute vibe. Friendly service. After one drink each (there were three of us), we asked for the bill only to be told that we had booked a 2-hour slot, so that means there is a minimum order of $50 per person. I had only just arrived in Singapore and my two friends were tired, and we just had dinner before drinks so were too full to order any food or another drink. They still insisted that we order another drink each even though we were struggling to stay awake. It hadn’t even be an hour since we arrived so it wasn’t that we were occupying a table for a long time. Sadly they insisted that we order another drink so we had to do a takeaway as we were too tired to stay up. Not great service with this - surely they could understand that this was a Tuesday night so it was a slow night anyway? Surely they could see that we were so tired that one drink was all we could have? Well, now we will never go back to Junior the Pocket Bar. Such a shame. I went to Sugarhall the next day, and the drinks and service there were stellar, with no minimum charge. This minimum charge BS isn’t great for people who can’t drink much. It’s just lame.

Terrible drinks- Not much Peruvian about them. Definitely nothing like the tastes I had in Peru. And in short - poor tasting cocktails. And you charge $25++ for this??!! The vibe of the place is good, and I would have wanted this to be my last drink bar but alas, so short on the skills. Give yourself a break, go check out Tippling Club, Manhattan, Sago House etc and see what real craft cocktails are about.

Love this little hidden bar and how they constantly change up the menu to keep things interesting. Been here a few times and I've always enjoyed the drinks here. The bartenders are very laid back and have an awesome sense of humour. I don't remember having a single bad drink here. The bartenders always make sure to tell you how the drinks are when you order to make sure you would get a drink of your liking, which is something that speaks of the dedication they have to making sure guests enjoy themselves. It's not a very big place, so if you are coming in during peak hours, I would highly recommend making reservations in advance.

They rotate themes every month with different drinks to match the theme. It's a good idea but it didn't come together well. We tried the seaweed cocktail, ginger Thai highball, and another whiskey based meringe drink. I wouldn't recommend any of them, all of it fell flat. I also ordered a wine carafe and explicitly asked multiple times how much it was. The waiter understated the price and then refused to adjust the final bill, even though he admitted he said the wrong price when I ordered. Overall, didn't care for this bar. Don't understand why it's popular

A very cool cocktail bar! I really like the ambience and they told us that they change the theme, so you could come here and it'd look different with a different menu. The cocktails we had were very well made and excellent! The staff were really nice and attentive, I'd recommend this place if you are a cocktail kind of person.

It was “palace” theme when I went. I think it was more Korean, the place was a little dark, music was not good though. However, cocktails are amazing. We ordered the aloe Vera, melon and watermelon. Think the watermelon cocktail stood out. Both mixologists, Nabs and Edu were super welcoming and friendly. Cocktails were well balanced! Probably will try again when they have a new theme. Oh ya cocktails priced at $26++ per glass.

Another of my favorite bars in Singapore! They change the entire menu and decorations every few months and they keep impressing. The bartenders are absolutely amazing people! This place should be on everyone's best bars list. On top of that, they have amazing food, worthy of a very nice restaurant, surprising for a bar! But it's totally worth it to have dinner there. On Friday night they open tables on the street and serve different drinks in collaboration with partners, refreshing!

Current theme is French Discotheque (but looks more like outer space LOL). Music was a tad loud. Can be cosy or crowded depending on when you go and the number of people you go with. Drinks wise — definitely didn’t stinge on the alc. would return when the next theme is in motion just to check it out :)

Beautifully decorated bar with a seasonal cocktail menu. It was Peruvian themed when I went, and I loved the Corn Milk Punch cocktail. As the seating capacity is limited, do reserve in advance. Minimum spend per pax is $50 but easily hit as you’ll want at least 2 drinks each ($25++ per cocktail), it’s worth it!

I like this new space vs the precious one. Very cosy and nice inside. The staff were generally very friendly so good vibes! I went there when there was a guest bartender so there were only 3 drinks available on the menu. Hopefully the next time I go, there will be more options!

Fun concept and enjoyed my drinks greatly although I wished I knew what went into my drinks. Service was a little slow but I guess they were short-handed on a Friday night.

Junior the Pocket Bar, Ann Siang Hill: Walking into JPB is akin to stepping into a giant ang pow. There’s a blood-red neon lit sign at the door with that speakeasy touch or go through the blue-toned outdoor bar front. The bar is tiny but bursting with character. It’s bathed in an auspicious red and with Chinese new year this that - lion heads hanging above. Even the menu is a festive one with everything red. Cocktails are good, even though a tad overpriced. Pretty in red? You bet.

Lovely place that can be cosy/cramped depending on how you feel like for the day. Drinks are excellent and unique! food, although being bad snacks, are excellent and can be filling too! interestingly, my favorite dish is the cauliflower which actually has the seasoning of the fries. overall experience is nice in that dark room.

I love a good cup of coffee, and have tried many times to try out Maxi Coffee bar. It's either too crowded or already closed for the day. When we walked by and noted the door open at night... We had to take a look. Empty. Quiet. But from behind a back curtain, a glowing light caught our eye. Entering from the side hallway we were thrust into the pages of a brilliant larger than life comic book... Welcome to Junior the Pocket Bar. Trendy, hip, cartoon-chic with a bunch of unique cocktails it was a terrific place to start our evening. We tried a handcrafted ginger beer high ball cocktail which was zesty and fresh, topped with a lemon wedge. Seating is at tables or the bar both of which are excellent choices. Friendly handsome staff are very attentive, and make you feel welcome.

Such an awesome little bar! Although I understand they might change the theme and menu from time to time, I hope they never lose the fun, edgy vibe that they currently have! We had 4 cocktails and they were all good! Most importantly, 2 of the cocktails were classics and they nailed them spot on! Always appreciative when mixologists do that! Looking forward to going back to try their food.

Great place and super interesting cocktails. It’s peruvian themed so the drinks could be spicy if that’s what you like them. Mixed with tropical fruits, it’s always a nice vibe there. I was there for quick drink but realised there’s a minimum spend of $50 per pax before gst. I guessed we had to double down. But I just thought the waiter could have told us at the last order instead of letting us know only when presenting us the bill. So for that I’m giving 4 stars. But the drinks were great.

This is a nice place - intimate and fun, and knows what it wants to be. The service is good. The pisco flight is fun if you like that (kind of like grappa), and the other cocktails are nice too. The popcorn is good as a complement to the drinks.

Been wanting to try since May 2021 but due to the lockdowns, had to keep rescheduling. It was worth the wait, got to enjoy seasonal cocktails inspired by Peruvian alcohol and food. Cocktails are strong, cold and balanced. Best part? Your water glass won’t ever go empty. Coming back for sure!

Fun, interesting place to enjoy drinks and hangout. It’s a small space though, no waiting for early evening but may get crowded from 10 pm (e.g. thurs). Came in early and hungry so I used here as a dinner spot 😀 snacks were flavourful and had strong flavours, good to go with drinks.

  • 5/5 Jason P. 5 years ago on Google
A very nice small speakeasy bar. If you're looking for a tropical vibe like you are in Hawaii and drinking cocktails out of Tiki mugs then this is the spot. They have many unique drinks that seems to be crafted in house. The two of of us shared a Polynesian Beauty and it was very good. It was at our maximum sweetness threshold and tasted wonderful that got us buzz from only drink. The place can only fit up to 15 people and you might have to stand by the wall. The bartenders are nice and attentive. The cocktails are at the higher end here $20-30 SGD but definitely worth it. We would go back here again. Not to mention, guests here are extremely polite. If new people come in and there is no seats or place to stand, people who came before would leave so the next group can sit and enjoy the bar. Kindness makes the world a better place.

Props to the decor, ambience and staff of JPR. It’s a nice and cosy place (please do make reservations!) that is perfect for a slow evening and conversations. However, the cocktails were slightly expensive at $25 per glass. The taste was okay - rather unique but I guess I would return when the next theme is presented. Peruvian cocktails were not particularly my favourite. Heard from my friend that their Japanese-themed cocktails were brilliant. We also ordered a couple of dishes to share. The mala chicken burger was decent but didn’t really taste like Mala - it was more of a regular chilli burger. Really enjoyed the fresh pops of pomegranate in the yoghurt sauce of the sausage dish. Looking forward to return.

Very helpful and kind staff. The cocktails are very creative and fully addressed what we were seeking. Don’t underestimate the food just because it’s a bar. The apple pie was delicious. Highly recommend. Make reservations because it’s a small place.

Loved this spot before they relocated and still love it in the new location. It's bigger and has a nice vibe to it. Music is mostly hip hop, decorations were festive (new year theme), and the service was fantastic. Shout out to Joe for the food and drinks recommendations. We got the banh mi that came with a delicious French dip wow!! Would come back just for that but definitely the drinks were just as good. Check it out

This place has the most amazing vibe. It can be tricky to find since there isn't a sign out front so look out for the neon red sign. The people there were really nice and friendly and the drinks were great. Highly recommend if you're in the area looking for a more intimate place to drink and catch up.

5 well deserved stars for this buoyant place, from the (quarterly changing) deco and the drinks to the entire staff. Haven’t tried many of their cocktails but both Highballs and Negroni are ….. yes, are heartbreaking.

  • 4/5 Serena 1 year ago on Google
The cocktails were so good and the service was great. My only complaint is that the music is played through a singular speaker that does not have great sound quality so this tarnishes the ambience.

Our fav bar we checked out in Singapore. Super small hole in the wall, but apparently they update themes every few months and completely redo the decor and menu. We were there for the House of the Dancing Lion theme and the drinks were Chinese New Years focused. Our drinks were awesome - the best we had in Singapore - and the staff was great. Would definitely recommend!!

Very friendly and easy-going bartender. It is a small and cozy place located in an alley that is not very easy to find. But it is a great place for meet-up with friends. The drinks are great. They have a seasonal concept where the deco and menu will always change every 6 months. Interesting concept. We were there for the CNY special, which only lasted 1 month. Definitely would recommend

A place with interesting cocktail theme concept. They change it every 6 months, and along with it apart from the drinks... The decor, menu, well pretty much everything. You're walking into a different bar each time you visit every 6 months. Cool stuff, delicious drinks, amazing service!

I came to this bar on my birthday and was really really impressed with the ambience, service, drinks and even the food! The bar is located in a back alley and may not be so easy to find. It is a nice small speakeasy bar and the bartenders are very friendly. The concept of the bar changes every 6 months and the entire decor changes. I was really impressed with the drinks. My favourite cocktail was the Koi. I am definitely looking to be back!

A small 10 seater bar hidden in a small alley. The bartenders are really friendly and they are more than happy to share with you great recommendations around the area or other bars to check out. The drinks are really good, and it's at S$25 each. As this is a very small bar, either visit at non peak hours (i.e. 8pm on a Monday) or make a reservation.

I was very happy to know they opened a tiki concept. Sadly it's only around until July as they change concepts every 6 months. I was quite happy with their 2 previous concepts as well (New Orleans and mezcal). A small intimate space that can seat around 10 to 12 people. It's where one of my favorite bartenders, due to his being so animated, calls his home. Peter Chua is one of the liveliest, entertaining and eloquent bartenders I've encountered. Drinks? Great. Food? Great. Return? Yes

My favorite bar in Singapore at the moment. The concept changes every 8 months or so. The bar is intimate with only about 10 seats. Despite this there are usually two bartenders serving drinks. Service is friendly, and the cocktail selection is vast - especially considering the menu changing entirely about twice a year! For a place focused on drinks, the food is surprisingly good as well!

Cool bar with friendly staff. Have to say that drinks here are amazing. Highly recommend the beer cocktail, very refreshing! The drink doesn't have a name but possibilities include "Polynesian Radler" or "Lagerita". Food isn't pretty tasty too. It's a small place but they change concepts every 6 months or so, which keeps things interesting. Very small bar but you'll have a good time!

Be careful when you go in this place. There is a creazy waitress who claims to be the owner and treats you so badly (for NO reason) that you just want to run away from the place immediately. And actually that it was we did. And just to be clear we are nice people and not drunk at all. It is a pity because the rest of the staff is very nice and the bar cozy.

This little cocktail bar totally changes it's menu, look and feel, including soundtrack every few months. At the moment it's an Alpine theme and has all 4 seasons on the menu. Loved the Swiss Miss, an alcoholic hot chocolate with toasted marshmallows on top. Almost makes you feel like you are in winter, on the slopes for a few minutes, with the smells and music. Very enjoyable and a little bit different.
