This was honestly one of the most (good) ridiculous of dining experiences here in Singapore. Given their 3 Michelin star status, it's definitely a place that you'd want to visit at least once ever, to appreciate what a 3 star f&b establishment is supposed to feel like. We had pre-drinks next door at Mandala, before swinging over here for dinner. We ended up chatting with Chef up until past midnight, over free-flow waffles and drinks. There wasn't any air that came with Chef, as he broke down his daily life like he was any normal chef who needs to tally up his books and order ingredients for the next few weeks. The entire team here, has a phenomenal level of passion for the craft, and aims to delight. From the moment we set foot into the restaurant, you really feel like you've entered someone's home, moving from the living room, to the dining room, then to the lounge. Even the food served (European and Nordic flavors) were genuine. The team explains to you the ingredients from ground up, before appetizers were served. Most of the dishes were finished up in front of your eyes. It felt much more like a performance at home, just like how you'd perhaps sneak into the kitchen to watch grandma cook her best recipes. Definitely should try once minimally, ever.

With 3 stars and top 100 restaurants as trophies, Zen doesn’t need more novice reviews on google. We enjoyed a sumptuous lunch with premium ingredients, gourmet food and great services. Lunch turns out to be a good option, as we avoided dinner crowd. We like their concept of moving through 3 floors of dining. Although still confine to tables, but it doesn’t feel as claustrophobic. Their choice of pop music is different from other fine dining establishments. The atmosphere feels much livelier when I relate to familiar songs. Alcoholic pairing is rather unique. It’s not the usual dull wine pairing. Be adventurous, not all drinks may suits everyone’s taste buds. Zen takes effort to make the experience interesting. It stands out from the rest, and is a strong contender to the other 2 local Michelin 3 stars old boys. 👍

Had the lunch with 7 courses. First time experience in 3 star Michelin. Service was excellent and the people working their really know their trait. However, two of the dishes didn’t deliver. One of them was the BBQ Quail, it was not salted enough. I didn’t find the dish overall to fufill expectations. Second dish that failed to deliver was toasted buckwheat pudding, just tasted soggy in my opinion and didn’t like the pairing with grapes. The seabuckthorn sorbet was however excellent and so was the onion soup. The grijesi fish with the emulsion was OK. The staff and the concept of walking up the stairs was really nice however.

Probably the best hospitality I have received at a restaurant. Zen is deserving of all it's accolades. It was an epic journey and experience that started at 7pm and ended at 12.30am. Many hours of fun and laughter as well as amazing ingredients turned into wonderful food. Occupying an entire shop house by itself, the trip takes you through different levels of the shop house to try the different food. It really feels like visiting a friend's house more than dining out. I look forward to being able to experience this again.

I don’t know what else to say. This is the best restaurant. Food and service was impeccable. Every single item on the menu was masterfully planned, designed and executed. We had the wine pairing and the restaurant was really generous with the pouring.

An absolute worthwhile experience. Spent almost 6 hours here from lunch and left just before the dinner service started! Love the living room vibe and the moving between floors, it adds something different. The waiters all knew exactly what they were talking about. The food was often delicate, light flavours surrounded by something a little punchy. The amount of courses and small dishes really gave you your money's worth. Loved the mix between french and Nordic flavours. Favourites for me were the burnt toast with Parmesan and freshly grated truffle and the onion Almond and liquorice soup. Well worth the spend and going to, preferably in a small group to get the best experience.

Really worth the hype and the crazy price tag? Absolutely yes! This is an outstanding culinary experience not to be missed. First and foremost, the food is world class. Certainly one of the strongest 3 Michelin star menus I have had in recent times. All dishes were complex and multi-layered in their sensations, yet utterly delicious. I also really enjoyed the flow of the dinner, starting at the ground floor with some excellent choice of bubbles, first nibbles and the now iconic showcase of ingredients, before moving on to the main dining room. The wine list seemed well curated. Apart from the obvious super high end choices there was a decent range of more modest options. We had a Savagnin from Jura and a bottle of German Spätburgunder, both excellent and great value. The sommelier and the whole team were just a delight to interact with. Genuinely friendly, knowledgeable and obviously proud of what they are achieving at Zen!

Dinner menu. Held over 3 levels with each level with their own meals. Food were definitely amazing, indeed worthy of 3 Michelin Stars ⭐️. But the amazing things were their staffs. Each & everyone were all friendly, eager to interact with diners. They almost knew what you wanted for example, when we were waiting for the lift to head down to level 1 after dinner, their staff actually brought up my car key at the exact moment without me saying. Atmosphere was very casual. Not a tinge of needing to be uptight with your etiquette. The only slight downside was the volume of their music. It might hamper when you are trying to listen to their staffs explaining the food to you. Other than that, definitely worth to dine at least once in your lifetime.

Couldn’t help myself but to share some of the beautiful food art pieces. What a great place to spend the Xmas day! Can Michelin give this awesome place 4* pls?

Love the concept of the restaurant. Starters on level 1, then you climb up to level 2 for mains and end with desserts on level 3. The interior is minimal but elegant - Scandinavian simplicity I guess. The starters were all good especially the Raraka. The mains were hit and miss for me personally - the onion dish and french toast were good, rest so so. The dishes just keep coming - expected for the asking price 😂 The desserts were great especially the black garlic which had a very unique flavour. Zen probably has the best service staff. The issues I had - would be good if someone explains the entire dining process when we sit down on level 1; level is pretty dim even for lunch - only the seats near the window get enough light and rest of the tables are placed right next to the wall which feels a little claustrophobic.

Zen Restaurant in Singapore, nestled within a Michelin-starred hotel, is a culinary sanctuary where artistry meets gastronomy. The dining experience transcends mere sustenance, immersing patrons in a symphony of flavors meticulously crafted by master chefs. From the moment one enters, the ambiance is a harmonious blend of tranquility and sophistication. The minimalist decor, adorned with subtle Asian influences, sets the stage for a dining journey that transcends the ordinary. The menu is a testament to the chef's dedication to perfection. Each dish is a canvas, showcasing the finest ingredients and innovative techniques. The sushi, a delicate dance of textures and tastes, highlights the restaurant's commitment to authenticity. The sashimi, served with precision, melts in the mouth, a testament to the freshness of the seafood. The culinary artistry extends to the hot kitchen, where traditional Asian flavors are reimagined with a contemporary flair. Signature dishes, such as the miso-glazed black cod, exemplify the chef's mastery in balancing flavors, leaving a lasting impression on discerning palates. Service at Zen is an impeccable ballet, with attentive staff anticipating every need without intruding on the dining experience. The wine list is curated to complement the diverse flavors, elevating the meal to a sensory journey. In conclusion, Zen Restaurant in Singapore not only lives up to its Michelin-starred status but transcends expectations. It is a haven for connoisseurs seeking a symphony of flavors orchestrated with precision and passion, making it a jewel in the culinary crown of the Lion City.

We went to Zén for a lunch for my wife's birthday, it was our first 3* so our expectations were high. Overall feedback is great: the food quality is high class and some dishes really stand out. The service is young and somewhat casual but serious and refined at the same time. It is an experience. It comes with a hefty price of course but at this level it is the price of hard work and product excellence. The place is cosy and comfortable, definitely lovely to spend a few hours to savour the menu, and suitable for a special occasion. The choice of rock/pop music on the loud side in the dining room worked well for us but it is unusual. What we liked less was the non alcoholic pairing which was oriented towards fermented and acidic drinks (kombucha type). Lot of work goes into it I'm sure but it's an acquired taste that didn't work for us. Also there is almost no carb in the menu and the restaurant doesn't offer any bread so we felt something was missing. Overall I still give it 5* and applaud the work going into creating an experience like this. We feedbacked some of our minor disappointments to the restaurant and they responded very nicely. Detailed menu review (spoiler alert) Starter: excellent amuse-bouches, especially the choux. It is so good and so small you wish you could eat more. 10/10 Saba fish: good fresh fish dish with an interesting strawberry dressing. 7/10 Chawanmushi with caviar: excellent. Very tasty fatty pork broth, and good caviar that compliment each other well. 9/10 Lobster: perfect cooking and sauce, beautiful product and great dish 10/10 Onion soup with almond and licorice: perfect combination, exact temperature for service. Though the licorice maybe doesn't really come up enough. But possibly one of the best dishes I've ever had. 10/10 Kinki fish: crispy skin is excellent and fish cooked to perfection, generous serving of cream is a pleasure. The mussel on the side was less interesting 8/10 Quail: cooked to perfection with good foie gras though the wasabi on the foie gras was not necessary 9/10 French toast with aged beef: not our favorite dish, because of the Wasabi being too strong 6/10 Yuzu marshmallow : good pallet cleanser, very fresh, very much on the Yuzu 8/10 Chewy beet: fantastic berry ice cream, very interesting beet gummy, good and generous cream. 10/10 Japanese fruit: great and fresh, especially the persimmon 10/10 Macaron: excellent, should give more 10/10 Birthday cake: nice touch, thank you! Finally some sugar and carb after all.. very good cake. 10/10 Thank you Zén

Took me 3 months to book Zen for me and my wife. It was the most expensive meal we ever had and it was worth every dollar of it in this 3 Michelin star restaurant. We tasted food we never heard before and new combination of ingredients we never thought could possibly taste that good. It was definitely a gastronomic journey of bringing our idea of fine cuisine to a new level. The service was great from start to finish, except that they did not change my cutlery to suit my left handedness. To be fair, the service at the end of dessert mentioned he wasn’t sure if i was left handed as sometimes i used my right hand to pickup food. Well… cause left hand was holding the phone to take picture 😉. Located in where Andre Restaurant used to be, do take note there is free valet parking for restaurant guests.

Visited in Mar 2023 A fantastic dining experience with great food and exemplary service. You will be served across 3 floors/areas. In the kitchen (ground floor) you will be served a few small bites/amuse bouche, and after that you’ll be taken to the main dining floor/area (on Level 2) for the main dishes. The experience concludes on the top floor (‘living room’) with some desserts and drinks. As part of the experience, you are also taken through all the ingredients which have been used to prepare the dishes. This happens on the ground floor while you are being served with your amuse bouche dishes. Instead of going with the beverage/wine pairing (there are alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices), we decided to go with a couple of bottles of white wine and the sommelier was kind enough to suggest options based on our preferences and price range. All in all, a ‘5 star’ experience at this 3 star place 🙂 100% recommendation

2nd time eating here and glad the menu has changed to the seasonal ingredients and had a wonderful suprise in each bite. The curation of flavours in each dish and the hospitality is truly worth the accolades. I love the vibe and music! The staff and service is 100% a reason on its own to come back again.

It is a memorable experience, to go through the carefully curated dishes with wonderful ingredients from all over the world. Service was naturally great, with friendly servers who took their time to explain and make a connection. Lastly, it’s a nice touch to elevate through each of the three levels. Well deserved three stars and thank you for the memories.

This was absolutely the best dining experience in my entire life. The price might have been a bit steep, but after the 5-hour journey, I would say it is well worth it. Definitely a good place to celebrate your milestones in life. Every dish and juice pairing was excellent and the service was impeccable. I love how the staff are so friendly and detail oriented and I really saw the teamwork between the different members of the group. I am looking forward to coming back. Hopefully sooner than later. 11/10!

Awesome experience. Staff were really attentive, and super knowledgeable about their history, food and wine (and they have a long list of ingredients and wines!). Always ready with answers to our questions. The food is great - without the explanations we probably wouldn't know what we were eating! The flavours complemented each other, and though the portions looked small at first, there were so many dishes that we were really full at the end. And that was before the dessert spread came out! I had my birthday here and they even prepared a special doughnut-shaped cake for me. Our dinner ended much later than anticipated but we never felt pressured to leave, and everyone gave us a warm send-off when we leaving (we were the last to leave)...:) Recommend with all thumbs up!

Fantastic experience, of a quality similar to its predecessor, Andre. Service was very attentive, (especially Lisa, Andrew, Sean) and each dish was really very wonderful on the tastebuds. You wouldn’t come here every day of course (the price point prevents that too) but to commemorate special occasions, this truly is one of the best dining experiences in Singapore.

You will start your journey from the kitchen (1st level) where you will be presented with a caviar chutoro blini (very good), kalix lojrom (a fried potato dish done very differently, also really really good), a lobster croustade (excellent), kombu truffle (nice but not as tasty as the previous 3 bites) and finally a gunkan (a tartare with chevreuil and elderberry, interesting bite but I preferred the first 3 bites) This last treat is served to you after you are invited to the kitchen where a chef will explain the main menu showing you most of the raw ingredients involved. After this, you will be invited up to the second floor where the main dining will take place. Each dish is plated table side before service. Crudo: ikura with aged shima aji was superbly done. Couldn't taste the coffee oil but was still good nonetheless. Chawanmushi: tokubushi in a hojicha dashi with uni on top. Easily the tastiest chawanmushi I have ever had. Both rich and creamy, fantastic dish. Scallop: this dish is a star. Never thought that the fingerlime would go so well with the scallop. The pumpkin sauce was a nice addition to the dish but the scallop/lime combo was the real hero. Onion, almond and liquorice: this was presented with a foamy top with lots of flavours hidden underneath. I have never had this flavour combo before but it was mind-blowingly good. You can taste each individual profile and together they sing. Guinea fowl: another amazing dish. The bird was perfectly cooked with a sabayon that complimented it beautifully. Aged Wagyu: a very good dish (perfectly cooked) with nothing wrong but paled in comparison to all the dishes that came before it. French toast: sourdough bread with a couple of marinated meats and a sauce/spread. Very good but messy bite. Tea, milk and honey: Hokkaido milk ice cream with lavender honey, banana served with a jasmine waffle on the side. Yet another amazing dish. I'm not a dessert person but this was very good. After the main meal, you are invited up to the 3rd floor for coffee/tea and a bunch of sweet treats. You are started out with a sorbet with fruits nicely cut for easy eating. This is followed by 6 different sweet bites. It was hot and miss for me. The black garlic toffee was interesting and the toasted meringue with cheese was nice. I really didn't care for the rest. Again not their fault, I am really just not a dessert person. Amazing experience, many thanks to the team and amazing staff who made it all so memorable.

Zén brings fine dining to the next level with stellar produce taking centre stage, flanked by the warm hospitality of their knowledgeable staff and cosy space. The ambience is akin to visiting a friend's home and guests are treated to an interactive and engaging experience. DEFINITELY go for their beverage pairing (especially the non-alcoholic options) as it adds a whole new dimension and complements the meal. Great for special occasions.

We celebrated my partners birthday at Zen and the food and service was amazing. If we had to chose a top 3 savoury dishes it would have been, Mollusks, Onion Soup and Sakura Masu. The seafood in the mollusks were cooked well and the sauce that came with it was light and full of flavour. The sweet umami onion soup is paired with almond foam and liquorice with crunchy almonds hidden beneath and the Sakura Masu the skin was crispy and the flesh was just set and flaking. In saying that all the dishes that we had was done really well and cooked and seasoned to perfection, It was really difficult to fault. The surprise was an additional cake and card signed by all the staff and almost unlimited waffles . The atmosphere is different and we would start the journey at the kitchen with snacks and make our way to the main dining room , finishing off in the lounge with some waffles and fruit. The music and staff makes the whole experience less intimidating like some other formal fine dinning restaurants. Service is professional yet warm, conversation we had with our wait staffs remembered we were going to Phuket and followed up with an email wishing us an enjoyable holiday.

Great place, unique dishes, selective ingredients and interesting concept (Scandinavian + Japanese fusion). This place really offers a great dining experience. I love the warm welcoming ambience and after dinner seating area where you can sit as long as you want. Friendly and helpful staffs. The staffs literally did not say “no” to any of our requests, which was very impressive.

Going in without expectation, the experience was awesome. Designed around the townhouse it occupies, the meal begins in the sitting room, leads to the kitchen (for a walkthrough of the premiere ingredients), then upstairs to the dining room and finishes another floor up in a beautiful lounge area. Every dish satisfied and brought excitement for the next. The wine pairings were diverse and thoughtful selections. Will return.

The food is standard fine dining dishes, nothing stands out and the best I had today is dessert persimmon. And customer service needs to be improved. I felt really uncomfortable when I was talking to a waiter in English and he started saying I can’t speak Chinese to me. And after I ordered champagne he confirmed 3 times with me. This really make me feel he can’t understand me and I need a Chinese interpreter😤!!! This shouldn’t happen in a three star Michelin restaurant.

You get shabu shabu and ala carte buffet all at one place! Shabu shabu: good cuts of beef. You can choose chicken, pork and crabs as well!! And a plate of vegetables - the stock is very tasty at the end of the meal! Ala Carte Buffet: you have to try the unagi fried rice, sirloin steak!! The tofu cheesecake and coconut creme brulee are good! A good selection of dishes from yakitori to tempura and sashimi! Add $5 for free flow tea and soft drinks! Tips: for bigger groups ask for a private seating area at level 2. You will need to go up a flight of stairs though!

Can't accept one of dish from set menu is ordinary waffle. Especially when you need pay almost 1500 SGD for two people dining there.

my friends and I had dinner at this 2* Michelin (who knows may be 3* in the future) restaurant on a Saturday evening. the 4-hour experience was special as we were brought through the 3 floors of the building that the restaurant occupies - starting from canapés and an introduction to the ingredients at the first floor before proceeding to the second floor for the mains and the top floor for the desserts. food was great and my favourites were the quail and lobster. some of the plates were a fusion of Scandinavian (since the sister restaurant is in Stockholm) and Japanese ingredients with a combination of techniques and flavours. the ambiance was homely and welcoming but what I enjoyed the most was the excellent service provided by the team, namely (forgive me if misspelled) Alicia, Lisa, Sana, Dennis, Aaron and many more. we shall return one day and maybe drop by Frantzen Stockholm. thank you for a fun and delectable evening.

Zen sets the bar for dining experience in Singapore. From the time you walk through the door you feel like you are in someone's home. There is a feeling that you are a on a journey through their lives and each turn is a new and delicious set of ingredients to taste. If you are a foodie and also enjoy a restaurant that is a fun experience, you have to try this place. Yelicia is the caviar that makes the experience even more special. She was engaging, fun and made the whole night one of the best dinners we have had in Singapore. Looking forward to our next visit :)

Top notch service, nice atmosphere and amazing food and drinks. As good as it gets in Singapore. When word gets out, I think a reservation will be hard to come by.

The best meal I have had ever. A wonderful gastronomic experience spanning the 3 stories of the restaurant. Often at other fine dining and Michelin establishments, there would be hits and misses. However, I loved every single dish at this restaurant. Of course, this is up to one's personal preference, but objectively, Zen does put a lot of thought into the concept behind the entire menu. I would recommend the juice pairing; be expected to taste the most exquisite liquids in your life. I see that other reviewers baulk at the price. Yes, for $450++ just for the food it is expensive, but you are paying for an exquisite meal with lots of thought behind it. Fine dining in Singapore is not cheap, but you can easily find degustation menus at other Michelin establishments at half the price. However, I personally still prefer Zen for its well balanced dishes, non-intrusive service and their whole concept of making it a fun experience. I will definitely be back soon. I can only imagine a reservation would be even harder to get once this place is awarded Michelin stars!

Very homely atmosphere, service staff were all very well trained and extremely personable, food was amazing and the ambience was unusually fun and relaxed for a fine dining restaurant. Perfect evening and ideal location to celebrate the wife's 40th birthday!

The bigger brother Frantzén with 3 stars is my favourite restaurant since some time ago and once I learnt about Zén I was curious to find out about this place and booked the flight. Needless to say, our expectations were very high at the younger sibling. As in Stockholm, food is extremely international and no expense is spared in sourcing produce but Zén showcase even more classic luxury ingredients compared to Frantzén. It tells me something about the cultural differences between Sweden and Singapore. Not going to spoil any surprises but you start and stop the meal in Sweden. In between is a world tour of flavours and techniques which is quite unique. I tend to see it as a marriage of Japan and France which also happen to be the worlds best kitchens. As you’d expect the service is flawless but what sets it apart is how they adapt to the diner and will engage or even strike up a conversation if you want to. Having chefs and waiters talk at length with you is a new standard of great dinner experiences and a luxury most other restaurant simply cannot afford. I also appreciated the smaller things, for example how the bathroom towels are stacked in line with the wooden box, this is zen. Expensive yes,but hiring the best staff to cook and then deliver these ingredients to you actually works out to getting a lot of bang for you bucks. Go now before the Michelin stars have fallen.

Worthy successor of andre’s old space. Three stories concept of having appetisers on first floor, mains on second and desserts on third was well executed. Particularly pleased by their Instagram friendly ingredients box to start the meal. First time having a juice pairing meal and was very pleasantly surprised. Service staff was excellent, food was creative and ambience was well placed - likely front runner for three michelin stars.

Amazing experience and very friendly and welcoming staff. Needless to say the food was out of this world. We were regulars at Andre's before Zen moved in and were a little doubtful, as we were huge fans of Andres. But Zen far far exceeded out expectations and we will definitely be back! Congratulations to the team at Zen!

Amazing experience. From the start of the snacks on the ground floor, ingredient box and kitchen tour; to the second floor main dining room; to the top floor petit fours, the experience was remarkable. Lisa, Sanna, Dennis and co definitely took great care of us. They were all so knowledgeable regarding the origin of the products, to flavor profiles to pairings. The food was super tasty. Every course was executed flawlessly. Thank you team Zén for an outstanding experience.

Great place to chill as the chef and all of the team will really introduce the ingredients, bring you to their kitchen, and will have a talk to you within the dining experience in this place

An outstanding dining experience at a price. A journey, not just a meal. The hospitality is beyond home. Some items are a new dimension to your taste buds. Would love to go again when opportunity arises. Wine pairing is very generous, so make sure you can hold your alcohol or just get 1 non-alcoholic pairing and share. Only complain is I wish the pace has been slower.

The whole experience at Zén was so good! Not only was the food great, staff at this restaurant were so friendly and attentive. I liked that it was a non-stuffy environment as you get to know the team at Zén. Everything was well thought out and you pay for an extensive dining experience, eating your way from the ground floor up to the third floor. The private dining room with plants and flowers was such a lovely place to have our dinner too. Highly recommended!

The food is amazing. So is the service, performed by knowledgeable professionals. Presentation is beautiful and everyone gets to check out the kitchen. Every dish is excellent, every drink well curated. But it gets 4 stars instead of 5 because it's just so darn expensive. It was north of S$1,700 for two people with the tasting menu and wine pairing plus pre-dinner Champagne as offered. Most high-level restaurants offer a more moderately priced option (by "moderate" I mean only $400 to $600 a person with alcohol pairing). The only way to cut the cost here is to go with the alcohol-free juice-heavy pairing, or just a bottle of wine. We enjoyed the meal but are not itching to go back, when there are so many other really excellent choices that are much cheaper.
