Note:
SK
also
showcase
Star
Carat
series
of
diamonds
in
some
of
their
outlets
located
in
shopping
malls,
so
feel
free
to
contact
them
for
those
locations.
Location:
Unlike
other
mainstream
jewellery
shops
and
outlets
located
in
shopping
malls,
the
Star
Carat
Shop
showroom
was
located
right
in
Soo
Kee
HQ.
This
store
was
located
all
the
way
in
the
East,
so
it
was
considered
really
far
from
my
home
in
the
opposite
side
of
Singapore.
Fortunately,
I
was
working
nearby,
so
I
made
an
appointment
after
work,
at
6.15
pm.
In
addition,
it
was
within
walking
distance
(750
m,
10
mins)
from
Expo
MRT.
Overall,
this
showroom
is
considered
more
convenient
than
some
other
custom
jewellery
stores
/
workshops
located
in
the
industrial
areas.
Opening
Hours:
The
Star
Carat
Shop
showroom
opening
hours
is
not
as
long
as
the
jewellery
stores
in
shopping
malls
that
close
at
9
pm
to
9.30
pm.
It
closes
at
7
pm,
so
at
least
I
could
fix
an
appointment
to
head
there
after
work.
In
addition,
they
allow
the
arrangement
of
appointments
on
Sat.
Service:
My
fiancee
has
a
very
small
finger
size,
so
there
were
hardly
any
shops
with
rings
off
the
shelf
that
could
fit
her
size.
Star
Carat
Shop
showroom
was
the
only
shop
that
was
able
to
temporarily
help
her
wear
and
try
on
larger
rings
without
dropping.
There
were
no
other
customers
at
that
time,
so
all
the
staff
assisted
in
picking
and
recommending
jewellery
for
my
fiancee
and
I
to
consider,
such
as
rings,
necklaces
and
earrings.
In
particular,
they
helped
to
pick
up
different
ring
styles
with
halo
setting
and
different
styles
for
earrings
that
my
fiancee
and
I
were
looking
for.
At
the
end
of
the
appointment,
one
of
the
jewellery
/
diamond
consultants
Andrina
walked
us
out
of
the
building
and
showed
us
a
slight
short
cut
that
saved
us
a
few
minutes.
Offering:
The
Star
Carat
Shop
Showroom
has
many
big
diamond
offerings,
such
as
0.5
carat,
0.7
carat,
0.9
carat,
1.0
carat
and
beyond.
Although
the
showroom
has
many
large
diamonds,
the
overall
collection
of
jewellery
is
slightly
smaller
than
larger
jewellery
stores
in
shopping
malls.
Nonetheless,
my
fiancee
and
I
were
delighted
to
finally
find
and
try
out
rings
styles
with
halo
settings
and
diamond
carat
greater
than
0.5.
This
is
because
most
rings
are
in
the
solitaire
setting
when
the
diamond
carat
is
greater
than
0.5.
My
fiancee
was
also
able
to
try
out
halo
settings
with
different
styles
of
split
shank.
Overall,
the
largest
differentiating
factor
for
The
Star
Carat
Shop
lies
in
the
diamond
carat.
Price:
This
is
the
only
brand
I
know
that
offers
lab
grown
diamonds.
They
offer
lab
grown
diamonds
which
are
priced
at
about
50%
of
natural
diamonds.
The
overall
cost
of
the
ring,
setting
and
diamond
is
also
about
50%
of
natural
diamond
rings.
There
are
of
course
other
alternatives
to
get
cheaper
rings,
such
as
gemstone
/
diamond
simulant.
Food
for
Thought:
As
out
budget
is
limited,
my
fiancee
and
I
had
a
few
considerations
such
as
lab
grown
diamond,
gemstone
/
diamond
simulant
(moissanite,
cubic
zirconia).
These
are
alternatives
that
consumers
might
want
to
consider
in
conjunction
with
the
pros
and
cons.
Before
making
the
final
decision,
diamond
sparkle
and
cutting
is
one
aspect
that
should
be
seriously
considered
as
well.
