👍 Not sure this is authentic Vietnamese. When I came here, the place was almost full but I managed to get a seat. They didnt have bread rolls in stock so all banh mis were off the menu. Ordered the vinaigrette pork chop rice and the pork bun cha. The food was served very quickly, like in under 5mins.... People often mention Vietnamese, good, pork, spring, beef, porridge, chicken, tasty, fresh, nice,

Not sure this is authentic Vietnamese. When I came here, the place was almost full but I managed to get a seat. They didnt have bread rolls in stock so all banh mis were off the menu. Ordered the vinaigrette pork chop rice and the pork bun cha. The food was served very quickly, like in under 5mins. The pork chop rice flavours were good but pork was a bit dry. I suspect everything is largely cooked and just assembled when ordered as opposed to cook to order. The rice is also no authentic Vietnamese but to be fair, it was tasty.

Simple Vietnamese fare done right. Nothing life-changing, although it does satisfy your craving for that authentic Vietnamese taste. I think the price is reasonable. Showed the bill for the items I ordered and will let you decide if you agree with me.

Pork bun cha had good flavours and was authentic. Beef stew rice was just alright, and the fresh spring rolls were a bit too dry. Found the lemongrass chicken damn good and they were quite gigantic as well. I wld come back! Staff v friendly! Cost friendly too!

I had the beef pho set during lunch. The prawn paste chicken that came along with the set was extremely fragrant and crispy without being "jelak". The beef broth is full of flavour and the meat balls and slices were generous too. We had the lemongrass drink that complimented the set lunch very nicely. Ambient was very cozy and comfortable. Will definitely return for the lunch deals again.

Just tried their Slice Beef Pho. Very nice. Better than some popular restaurant at Vivo. Goodjob chef! Value for money. Will sure come again 😀

Great food, lovely decor. We had the freshwater eel porridge, pork bun cha, and the fried spring rolls. Porridge can feed two people and isn't something you can find at other Vietnamese restaurants. Has a lovely golden hue and is well-seasoned. Bun cha was comparable to some of the best I've had in Hanoi. Meatballs were the star. I'm so full right now. Going to retreat into my food coma.

Came here at the recommendation of a friend. We had the Bun Cha and Vietnamese pizza. Both were pretty good though the style was somewhat different from the ones we had in Hanoi (was there a month ago). The soup and meat for the bun cha is slightly sweet which makes it more flavourful when you mix it with the rice noodles and vegetables (maybe too little veg). The pizza is actually fried egg on rice paper. It’s unique and I would recommend mixing it with the hot sauce they give.

I came here after seeing the recommendations about the food. Great food!!! And fast service Cannot recommend enough of their spring rolls (both the fresh and fried ones are nice) And I love the eel porridge (and yes it’s the Chinese 黄鳝 style) Buncha is nice and they also give enough greens (which is rare in Singapore) Will come back again if we are nearby !!!!

Was looking for good food near SGH and found this place by chance. Would highly recommend to come here for a homely Vietnamese food. Below are my unbiased review: The Lemongrass chicken skewers are really tasty, juicy and tender. The portion is also big. Eel porridge is special and taste really nice and comfy especially in a rainy day. Chicken Pho has a light broth that still encompass all the flavours. So if you prefer stronger taste, you might find it bland. Fresh spring roll is fresh and good too, big in size! The sauce that comes with the spring roll is also unique and tasty. Pork Bun Cha is a flavourful fish with fresh vegetables, sauce that is light with a tinge of sour, coupled with the pork meat patty that’s well flavoured (but a little hard for my taste). The prawn crackers has light prawn taste and not oily, those who prefer lighter prawn taste will like this one. For drinks, Vietnam coffee is a little light; the lemon grass is nice but is sweeten. Service is very homely and they are Vietnamese who speaks chinese. Would be back again for sure! Thank you for the amazing food!

Small but cosy Vietnamese restaurant that offers outdoor seating along the common corridor. Generous hearty portions. My favourite is the fresh spring rolls - translucent rolls stuffed with prawns, pork, vermicelli and greens with an accompanying chilli dip. Do try the eel porridge too.

Wanted to try the eel porridge but it wasn’t available. The other items tasted OK but not so impressive to make me want to visit again. Overall, very value for money. The prices were reasonable and the portions were huge, especially so for the mixed beef pho. The fresh spring rolls contained so much vermicelli that they were more a meal than a snack. Coffee was rather weak. Staff were friendly. Ambience was so so but it was good that Vietnamese music was played in the background. There were both indoor and outdoor seatings.

Good authentic Viet restaurant. Not your typical Viet that serves spring rolls and pho. Some northern Viet dishes like cat fish and eel porridge. Small number of tables and so reservations highly recommended.

Lovely little Vietnamese restaurant, tucked away under a HDB complex. Pho broth was delicious, bun cha ingredients fresh and tasty - although I've never had the sauce served warm before. All in all, one of the better Vietnamese restaurants I've been to in Singapore. Will definitely be back to try the rest!

Love their vietnamese fermented pork chop with rice. Super flavourful and imo, the highlight of all dishes there. Tried their fried spring rolls too. Was crispy and had really good addictive flavour to it! Service was super friendly too!! Would highly recommend this place!

Ordered their lemongrass pork noodle (Bun Cha - forget the name), it tastes great! If you don’t drink too sweet, remember to ask them to lessen the amount of sweetened milk for their coffee. Great food. Will try other dishes.

Just came back from Hanoi and must say the food here hits the spot, but understandably not the price. Pho has flavorful broth. Bun cha was alright although it would've been nice with more garlic on the side. Flan wasn't available which was what I was looking forward to having. Will definitely be back to try the other menu items.

Dishes not your typical Vietnamese noodle house. Worth a try. Pork cha bun is nice. C Drip coffee is very aromatic and flavourful even without the mixing the condensed milk.

Was looking forward to great food from Last reviews but was sorely disappointed. Pho was overly salty though meat portions were great Pork chop rice 👎 meat is dry and tough Overall price is steep for overall portions.

We were early and wasn’t aware they only open at 11am. Seeing my mother was on a wheel chair, they opened and welcome us in to take a seat first while they proceed to prepare the food. That’s well heart warming for them to go above and beyond. The food is as Vietnamese as it will get. You will really feel like you are eating at Vietnam. That’s how good it is. I give special recommendation to the roast beef with rice set, very well cooked and it was juicy! Staff are friendly and attended to us with a great smile!

Came 2 times. Both experiences were great. Today we had their chicken pho and fried spring roll. It was so nice that we ordered 2nd round of spring roll. Price is reasonable too. Serving size for chicken pho is huge and very delicious. Not salty but flavourful soup base is the main attraction for the Chicken Pho. Highly recommended!

A quiet neighbourhood gem with the best Vietnamese food in Singapore I’ve ever had! Super flavourful broth and generous portions, value sets are very worth the money. Came with prawn cracker as appetiser for FREE! Comfortable environment with homey decor and very polite staff. A must try if you’re craving Vietnamese food!!

Eel porridge was a pleasant surprise. It's more like 鳝鱼 in Chinese than unagi, the portion is generous. Pho needless to say is spot on too. "Omelette" with shrimp and pork is super value for money.

The chicken pho broth boasts great flavor, but the portion of pho is smaller than the norm, and the chicken meat is slightly tougher than expected.

Had mixed beef Pho, sliced beef Pho and Beef Stew. The beef Pho soup is delicious with herbs and beef flavour that will please you. The meat is very tender. Highly recommend you try the Pho beef. However, the Beef Stew is another story. The meat is too hard and we can't finish the dish. The condiments on the table only has black sauce, red chilli sauce and soya sauce. There's no fresh chillies, chillies oil or lime which is a minus point for me. The staff is friendly and service is quite fast. You can ask them for fresh chillies. When I visited they just open for dinner time, maybe that's the reason why I need to wait for quite a while before the food was served even though we're the only table in the restaurant. There's indoor with AC and outdoor dine in. Heard they're popular for the eel porridge so maybe 1 day I'll come back and try.

Ordered the chicken pho , fresh spring roll, Vietnamese pizza, and beef pho with my friend. Chicken pho is a bit different perhaps because the chicken maybe the kampung chicken used which is very different and is quite big pieces. They are quite generous portion. Spring roll is tasty with prawn and chicken in them. Viet pizza is thin and special. Would recommend that. Could not finish Viet pizza and have to take away. Price is affordable.

Tucked in a corner of a HDB block, this gem serves authentic Vietnamese food. I love their beef pho! Affordable, tasty, and generous. As this is a very small shop, with only about 5-6 tables, do avoid peak peak hours.

Passed by this restaurant near my place a couple of times, but only got to try the food tonight. My husband and I ordered a beef Phở and Bún chả. They were really really good. Especially, the Bún chả, the spring roll was crispy. They have 2 choices, either pork and chicken. I ordered the pork one, the stir-fried sliced bacons taste awesome, tender and deeply fragrance (入味). Meat came with a sweet and sour sauce, served in a bowl, which you can either dip the noodles in or just pour it over your dish. Many places I been to serve lukewarm lemongrass drink to me, but not here. It was hot, and It makes me a very happy woman. 😊 Price wise are not the hawker centre range, it's still a restaurant despite it's HDB estate location, but I feel the food are value for money. Highly recommend this place.

Had a really satisfying dinner. Just to mention a few. I always 'afraid of' eating freshwater fish. Wow. I tasted a delicious grilled catfish at Hoang Hau. I especially like the taste & texture of the fish skin. The meat in the banh Mi was perfectly suit my palette. The slightly 'chao ta' taste was so fragrant. I asked for a less sweet lemongrass juice. That was nice. I finished the one big glass without any guilt. Nice. I would get hungry if I were to describe all the dishes I had. I will stop here. 😉

Quite a new establishment! Chill place, clean environment, good air conditioning... Above average food, enjoyed it with some drip coffee. :) Price typical of "overcharged" vietnamese food in SG. But definitely not more expensive than others. Will probably come back again to try the bahn mi because it was unfortunately sold out at lunch. :( Tried to call but no one picked up for reservation, luckily can walk in. They have an online menu which you can check out, it's abit updated compared to their restaurant menu.

Hubby and son liked the beef pho, spring roll was ok but the sauce could do with more tang. Their chicken bun Cha tasted different from others I’ve tried, the usual sauce is chilli, vinegar, lime, chopped chilli and garlic with lots of marinated vegetables as well as herbs but the version here is served with its own concoction of vegetable broth, I somehow prefer the other versions over theirs.

  • 4/5 SzeLing T. 2 years ago on Google
Ordered the lunch set and got the pork chop rice set option. Not the most authentically Vietnamese but it had a nice local twist to it with the added bak choy. The fresh spring rolls were great!

Finally visited Hoang Hau after reading about it in food blogs. The Eel Porridge Chao Luon ($18.80) is flavourful and comes with generous pieces of eel. Portion is good for sharing between 2 pax. The Pork Meatball Banh Mi ($10.80) was great too. Meat is well-marinated and juicy 👌 Will be back to try the other stuff on their menu!

friend bought 4pax dinner @ hoang hau, a restaurant he owns.. very good dishes.. the lobster bun, a newly created dish, was the bestest! live Boston lobster very fresh & nicely done, so sweet & tender..not rubbery.. the sauce quite unique, seems not the usual bun cha dip/drip sauce, nutty from brown butter & lobster tomalley..bun (beehoon) nicely infused.. banh seo seafood pancake was very good too..one of the best I had ..with belly pork & prawn & veg filling.. the Vietnamese crisp roll with pork good too the pho soup was tasty..as 2 friends commented & I concur, broth was very robust & quite a tad sweet..maybe a different preparation & nice in its own way too..but preference is a 清清lighter, natural meat sweetness broth with lots of herb

Was recommended this place for authentic Vietnamese. It’s walking distance from SGH. I ordered their value set lunch promo $12.80 for grilled pork and meatball Bun Cha set + green tea. It also came w/ a nice spring roll. Nice value! Their freshwater eel porridge $18.80++ is also popular but as it is a large portion, best shared among 2 pax.
