Was there for 2 day workshop on barbell fundamentals. I find it really good. The instructor Densun was very patient and nice . He shared a lot of information even those not regarding to barbell. I strongly encourage people who want to get their form right to visit here. They have many other lessons and classes too.

Highly recommended for anyone looking to start or progress in their strength training / powerlifting journey. I have been training with them for more than 6 months and the facilities and trainers are top notch. The community they have built is inclusive, friendly and very supportive. If you are looking for a PT, ask for Densun. He is very patient, caters the program to your goals and in doing that, always ensures your fatigue levels are in check to achieve the most progress. He is also very approachable and doesn't hesitate to impart useful tips and tricks to improve your lifts. Mini plus point is that there is good coffee nearby at King's Cart :)

Found this gem of a gym close to 2 years ago when i started taking up powerlifting and have never looked back since. Great coaches!! Friendly, no air, always encouraging and supportive, tailoring your strength training with your growth in mind for barbell strength sessions. Their physical conditioning classes were really good too with accessories workout, barbell variation exercises (currently given via zoom from home due to COVID). Awesome community of members who go to the gym as well to do their strength training! 👍

Cosy gym with excellent staff and coaches. This gym focuses on form and solid foundation instead of ego lifting. Strength classes are a good start point for anyone looking to lose weight or gain strength. Expect results only if you're willing to commit. Group classes have 6 pax max but the coach usually focuses on those who are new, while still looking out for the more experienced lifters.

Excellent, no nonsense gym. Well equipped with 4(!) power racks. No machines, just barbells and dumbbells. Friendly staff and gym users.

Working out while on the road is a priority and TSY makes it possible to maintain training. Facilities meet my needs. Staff are friendly and remember us each time we visit. Great price too.

Gym advertises casual passes on their front entrance. Took a lengthy Grab to the gym and was told that they no longer offer the pass service. Gym is private and only accessible by members. Mentioned to the worker if I could pay a hefty fee for just thirty minutes but was declined. A bit disappointed that they could not make exceptions even when the gym was completely empty. Should correct their sign moving forward.

The Strength Yard has been my 2nd home for 4 years now. It is a safe haven for lifters, regardless of experience and strength levels. It's the place to go when I want to feel strong despite feeling weak, and a safe space to be vulnerable when I need to be. There is a wide variety of dumbbells, barbells, two lifting platforms and two storeys of unadulterated weightlifting (Olympic or otherwise) joy. It matters not if you lift 2.5kg or 250kg, there will always be someone there to cheer you on. The coaches are friendly, knowledgeable and ready to guide you. You'll find more than just calibrated eleiko plates (powerlifters rejoice!) and squat racks within the confines of this charming Joo Chiat shophouse. You'll find a sense of camaraderie and a community that will support you in your journey to be the strongest/fittest version that you can be.

Been training with Jon at TSY for over a year and it’s been an excellent experience. Jon is incredibly dedicated, tailoring and adjusting my workout sessions to not only help me build strength but also to fit around my work schedule. The gym itself is cosy. I appreciate that it’s a straightforward lifting gym that is well-equipped with an ample supply of barbells and thankfully never overly crowded, which is a huge plus.

Really great gym with some fantastic personalized coaching. Joined the group strength classes expecting a coach to walk by on the work sets for each lift and give me some quick corrections. However, I got much more than that, and it felt more like a personal session with a tremendous amount of help. Coaches are really friendly and really experienced as well. In addition, there is great camaraderie at the gym amongst everyone and its a great supportive environment. Awesome experience, would definitely recommend!

Has everything you need for weightlifting, including platforms, squat stands and power racks. Finely adjustable safety bars for training without a spotter plus all the accessories (bands, deadlift jack etc etc) you could want.

Excellent customer service. Came to Singapore for holiday and was the one gym to allow Olympic lifts AND not try to overcharge me exhorbant prices. The gym is incredibly efficient for its size and has the majority of a strength and hypertrophy focused athletes needs at a very affordable price. I hope the owner and management can expand one day into a bigger venue as it is an optimal olympic lift gym with an excellent customer service that I'd love to see grow or perhaps franchise one day.

Was visiting Singapore and wanted to drop in for my SBD session. Filled out a form twice and got no response. Showed up to learn the gym is locked with a members only sign. Knocked on the door twice and no one bothered to answer. No info on the website on whether drop ins are allowed, or whatever the procedure is to come and lift. First I’ve ever encountered a powerlifting focused gym be this exclusive / difficult to navigate. If it’s a small gym and there’s some sort of vetting process / capacity constraint to manage, atleast be transparent about it.

Only reason for the three stars is that they advertise 9 lifting platforms on their website, and then when I rocked up to train as a casual, they didn’t let me use them because they were for ‘classes only’. Otherwise friendly enough, but it’s a really small gym with only 2 Oly/free barbell lifting areas that aren’t really padded properly for oly lifting. Powerlifters go for it, it’s good stuff. 4 areas for squatting in, a bench press, and a dumbbell rack. I’m being harsh, only because they do advertise 9 platforms on their website and it’s not quite accurate.

Joined the progressive strength trainingclass a year ago(2020). My goal is to learn proper technique in squat bench and deadlift, to gain strength, confidence and to improve my health. The coaches are welcoming, sociable and knowledgeable in these aspects and they are powerlifting athletes. Coach Charmaine and Ed focus alot on proper technique and form to ensure that I execute the lift safely. The gym is well equipped with expensive equipment that cannot be seen in commercial gyms. They have rogue ohio power bar, eleciko IPF competition bar and rack, eleciko calibrated plates, power racks, hex bar etc... Thoughtout the year, I enjoyed my stay here as I get to train with like minded people and made alot of friends. Will definitely recommend this place for people who have interest in strength training.

I found The Strength Yard when I embarked on my fitness journey to strengthen my joints, muscle and bone health. I was told that I needed to undergo a surgery to fix my knee pain resulting from a hole in the cartilage. The strength yard offers trainings with patient, experienced, knowledgeable and inspiring trainers, who are athletes themselves. With them, along with a positive, motivating and like-minded community, I have trained for a year now. Today, I no longer have bugging knee pains in my day-to-day activities, I can even deadlift more than my own body weight and squat close to my own body weight. I would not have imagined this was possible 3 years ago with my knee issues. Importantly, I am still improving and training safely under their supervision. Thank you, TSY!

Coaches are great and are a treasure trove of technical knowledge. I'm so glad I chose the Strength Yard for my powerlifting journey. Only wish i found them sooner. THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE.

I joined TSY a year ago for group classes and personal training, and have found it to be a comfortable and friendly environment. The coaches customize each person’s strength training plan to suit their current fitness level regardless of age and ability. They are also attentive and will adjust your training plan for the day if you are experiencing any pain or just not feeling your best. I also attended personal training to improve my strength and reduce risk of injuries from other sports. My sessions have been very effective and I find myself getting injured less frequently. My coach pays close attention to my form and technique. More importantly, he helps me set manageable goals and motivates me to attain them. I highly recommend this gym!

Jon's instructions and advice are straightforward and easy to understand, a huge benefit for someone trying to navigate the complexities of physical fitness and well-being. His strong work ethics are not just theory; they translate into actionable steps that make a lasting impact. One noteworthy aspect that sets Jon apart is his meticulous attention to safety. No matter how light the weight you're lifting, Jon always uses the locker on the barbell. This may seem like a small detail, but it showcases his unwavering commitment to client safety and ensures a worry-free workout environment.

I have been working out here now for my second month as part of the progressive strength class and I am really loving it. Great trainers, very attentive and knowledgeable. Nice and diverse people in the groups. Very good training plan stucture and concept. I came here from a very good PT gym and believe this much better value for money then expensive Pt sessions, just as effective and helps me become more independent in the long run

I recently joined The Strength Yard without any prior strength training background, and it has been an exceptional experience. The gym is well-equipped, providing ample space for workouts. The supportive and inclusive community, along with skilled trainers, make it an outstanding choice for anyone starting their strength training journey. If you're looking for a strength gym with exceptional personal training, do drop by. Their skilled trainers, personalized approach, top-notch facilities, and welcoming community make it an outstanding choice. Highly recommended!

I’m grateful for the personal training I’ve had at The Strength Yard! Ever since I’ve started PT here, my back pain has evaporated, and more importantly, I feel so much more at home in my body and what I can do. Ed is a patient and completely competent (nothing Is beyond him) trainer, but so are his team of personal trainers, who instruct their clients with love and care. The gym is in a heritage shophouse, and while somewhat rugged, still a beauty of vintage architecture.

This is a great barbell gym which is perfect for those who just want to pump iron and build up their strength. While the powerlifters and trainers may look intimidating, they are actually super friendly and very welcoming of beginners!

My journey into powerlifting has been nothing short of transformative, thanks to the exceptional personal training I received at The Strength Yard with Edmund. If you're looking to dive into the world of powerlifting, this is the place to be. The one-on-one personal training sessions with Edmund have been incredibly effective. He pays close attention to my form, technique, and goals, ensuring that every lift counts. It is clear that he has a deep passion for the sport and a genuine commitment to my success. Props to Edmund who has a unique ability ;) to push me beyond my limits while still making each session enjoyable. Thank you Strength Yard, for kickstarting my powerlifting journey and ensuring that I keep going all these years!

I trained here 3 times on my short stay in Singapore in August. It was very easy to sort out my drop in sessions. I arrived with no cash but was told I can do it through their website via PayPal which was perfect. The equipment was fine, good squat racks, decline bench, flat bench, pull up bar, free weights, deadlift platform. Everything you need for lifting heavy and having good workout.

Trainers at The Strength Yard have the capability to transform an average girl into a babe and an average joe into a dude. If you like a challenge and have a physical goal you want to achieve then give this gym a try.

The Strength Yard is a great gym if you want to make gains with the right trainers, with a good focus on posture, techniques and conditioning. I had joined TSY 2 years ago with a shoulder injury and plantar fasciitis issues. The trainers had taught how to do daily conditioning, stretching and also provided progressive strength programmes customised to each individual. They would observe for muscle imbalances and recommend accessory exercises. It’s the right place to be if you want a wholesome fitness regime. :)

Beautiful, somewhat comfy and quiet place to train at. Equipments are all powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting friendly which is a big plus bcos not many gyms allow slamming of heavy weights. The environment is amazing, good food all around waiting for you after your workout! East coast park is just around the corner too. Staffs are friendly and approachable. Other members are decent as it's my first time here so didn't really interact with anyone, hopefully no ego wars between different sport or "self-made rivalry" going on. Will definitely be back next time to train there again.

Great spot to pop in for a legit workout. Body building gym, so don’t expect any machines or anything fancy. Multiple racks, heavy dumbbells, and AC. $12 SGD for a drop-in which is awesome, as I was just here for an afternoon layover and it’s like 10 mins from the Airport.

Best DAMN gym in the east. Competition-standard rack, bars and plates; Abundance of free weights (dumbbells + bumper plates + iron plates), racks, benches, kettlebells, bands, cable machine suitable for lat/arm work, etc. Super friendly and knowledgeable owners, staff and members. Great atmosphere and sense of community. Even when it is crowded it is very enjoyable as everyone is usually sharing tips or having fun together. Currently open from 6am - 12 am daily for members, great for people busy with school/work and can only train at odd hours. Many great eating places within walking distance that open late for your post-workout fix, ranging from zichar to prata. There is also a mart nearby that sells cheap monster for your pre-workout fix. My only qualm is that they don't open 24/7, because this is like a second home to me. :-)

Starting as someone who never had the habit to hit the gym, The Strength Yard has definitely been crucial in helping me build the habit. As a beginner, I had many concerns and anxiety in gymming. The personal trainers at this gym helped me create a detailed program, targeting different body parts. They freely shared their knowledge on nutrition that helped me see significant changes and improvements in my strength as well. The most significant change i’ve seen is the mindset i have in gymming. Instead of just focusing on losing weight, it is now a significant part of my life and has become part of my lifestyle. Thank you the coaches who were friendly, approachable, helping me alleviate any stress or anxiety i might have by providing such a comfortable gym environment. It might not be the fanciest gym out there, but it is definitely one of the best in terms of providing a friendly environment and having the most dedicated coaches. Great job and keep doing what you’re doing tsy!!

I recently had a disappointing experience trying to buy an SBD belt. It's confusing to me why you offer online slots for people to try on the belt but don't provide a rack to actually test it with weights. When I visited, there was an empty rack available, and I only needed 5 minutes to compare the 10mm and 13mm belts with weights. However, your staff was very rigid and refused my request, which was frustrating. Honestly, if there's another SBD agent in Singapore, I'd prefer to go there next time. This was not the pleasant shopping experience I was expecting, especially when trying to make an informed purchase decision.
