Hallerbos is my all season favorite weekend forest bathing destination. With awesome trees, seasonal flowers like blue bells , wild white / yellow/ red flowers, it’s best to visit place in any season. Autumn colours and fall also awesome. Easy to reach by public transport and if going by car it has ample parking too . You can eat your picnic. The trails are well marked & safe for solo walks too .

It's an amazing place to visit in the springtime. I was impressed of the purple carpet of wild hyacinths. I recommend to visit the forest during the week. I was on Thuesday 19 April, and I met max 10 people. The mother nature is amazing! You have to visit this place for sure at least once in your lifetime!

Very nice forest to take a walk - even without the beautiful flowers! The park is quite big and the trails are marked very well. Can be quite cold, as the sunshine is blocked by the trees - but that can be a plus in the hot summer months. The are several parking spots, which can be seen on the map of the park in one of the attached photos.

We were very excited to visit Hallerbos as we have been hearing about this place yo be one of the fascinating forest with this unique blossom of hycanith flower only during few weeks in Apr-May. We arrived from Brussels at Halle and then biked to this place with lot of excitement, but when we entered the forest only small section actually had this blossom and that too the flowers were not bloomed very well. It was total disappointment as the pictures on the internet does not match the expectation. Totally disappointed and we came back soon from this place.

It was worth traveling all the way to Belgium just to see this—the photos were not an exaggeration! It was like something out of a fairytale, or a living Monet painting. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Beautiful! Well worth the visit. You can either walk from the train station (about 4km) or take a bus. There is also a parking lot. The pathways are very well maintained and forest is wonderful.

Beautiful huge forest which is best to visit in April, when the flowers ("bluebells") start to blossom carpeting the whole ground of the forest forming some majestic scenes!

Get prepared to walk amidst tall green trees. Walking, cycling, horse ride paths are well maintained. Kids friendly, solo, groups, family- a place for everyone to relax. Enough parking areas around the little forest. During this hyacinth festival, there are free buses running from Halle station during weekends. Tables to sit here and there. A good picnic spot, no entrance ticket. Blue bells all around is a wonderful sight to walk. Visitors leave the place as it is and pick your trash.

A huge nature park full of beautiful blue bell flowers. We hiked around the recommend trail for around 3 hours. You can easily make this a whole day trip if you want to. Nice place to visit around April during spring to see the flowers bloomed.

Beautiful. I cannot express the beauty by words. I am lucky that I went there at the peak time when forest completely turns in to blue.

Beautiful forest to see the carpet of bluebells. There is a marked purple loop trail to follow this flower. Check their website to keep track of the blooming time of diffrent other flowers as well. During peak season, on weekends, there are free shuttle bus to and from Halle station. There are some picnic area as well. Toilet was very basic and only at the start of the purple trail.

If you are in Belgium for an extended period of time, go to this park, especially during spring. The park is not crowded and it is very well kept. Go there if you can.photos do not do it justice. Also, if you love the smell of garlic, there are certain trails that have a very strong scent of wild garlic and they also grow there.

Beautiful place for a day walk. If visiting at the right time in spring, you can see thousands of blue bells in bloom. The paths are very well marked and the place is very accessible. It is also forbidden to get out of the marked paths in order to preserve the flowers.

A wonderful park, 30 minutes from Brussels. Many hiking and biking trails. Purple Zvoncic magically colours the entire forest, which is an incredible sight. This is not a phenomenon. There are forests like this all over the world, but the Belgians have protected this environment well and made it an attraction. In any case, a good walk and a wonderful view.

Blue Bell carpet... The forest floor gets covered with bluebell flowers for a few weeks until the sunlight gets blocked by the tree leaves. One can have this mesmerizing sight in the month of April. The duration of this varies year to year.

A beautiful forest, fresh air, flowering hyacinths, just perfect for a sunny weekend visit. This weekend (last weekend of April) there was a free shuttle bus from right in front of the Halle train station to the forest (called Hyacinth bus) and a very friendly person in a small stall also next to the station explaining how to get to the forest and giving a free map of trails. The shuttle takes you near the forest (takes 15 mins to get there) and then it's another 1.5km to get to the trails. The entry to the forest is free, there is also a small museum right in front of the parking where the shuttle stops (free after 2pm open till 5pm). The shuttles depart every 15 mins till 6 pm and afterwards every 30 mins, or more often if full of people. You can easily spend a few hours walking along the trails, I would say a minimum of 1h to take a good look at the flowers. There are a few picnic tables along the trails, you also have dedicated bike and pet-walking paths. Generally it is really worth visiting in the hyacinth flowering period, especially if you love nature and want to see something completely different.

Beautiful place to visit in spring. Visited on last days of April, and you could see that lot of wild hyacinths were almost done with blooming, but still really impressive to see. Also lot of other blooming plants (like wild garlic). A lot of walking paths and suggested walking routes. Very clearly organized walking paths. Also maps in several places to indicate where you are. Some chairs to sit down and rest or have a quick snack. A lot of birds singing and of course the sweet smell of hyacinths makes atmosphere even better.

The place has become too popular. There was too many people during the blossoming of the purple flowers. By the way, be aware that most modern smartphones have filters that block violet light so trying to take a picture of the impressive natural phenomenon can be a bit disappointing. Bring your good old Nikon!
