Worst experience of my life. I still cannot describe how scared I was during the night I stayed here. First of all, the walls were paper thin, and I could hear every single word from the room next door. Eventually fell sleep around 1:30am after they stopped talking, a random guy OPENED OUR DOOR at 2am. There was no chain lock or other additional locking mechanism in the room so these strangers just came into our room unannounced. My friend and I were clearly awake with eyes wide open after they opened the door, but there was no explanation and they just left. I called the front desk and they said it was a staff entering our room. Apparently he found a drunk/impaired guest lying in the stairway and brought him to our room, just because this person said he lived in our room. I had zero words.....This is absolutely ridiculous. If this guest was drunk to a point where he couldn't walk at all, how can someone just trust him when he said our room is the room he is staying in??? They could easily go back to the reception to check his ID or keycard. We barely had any sleep for the night and decided to take the earliest train to leave Brussels. The staff did apologize but still, I don't think this should happen at any hotel. I don't recommend anyone staying here, especially girls travelling solo. Choose somewhere else with a chain lock on the door. For €140 per night, they should easily afford some locks and hire someone to train their staff better. ---------------- Edit 2022-09-22: I have sent my information to the email address, and they offered a small discount for my NEXT stay, which is not going to happen.

The only reason I gave this hotel two stars is for the convenient location and the kind staff especially Eduardo. Otherwise I would have given the hotel itself 1 star. The first room I got had an old narrow unstable staircase that led to a bathroom downstairs. It looked like a dungeon and was full of mold. Even the curtains were moldy. Luckily the staff was kind enough to move me to another room without stairs. The next day, i noticed a scent of rotten eggs coming from the bathroom i notified the staff but did not change my room because i was leaving the next day and i had already changed rooms the day before. As the night went on the smell became worse and i realized it was a sewage issue. One of the staff members was kind enough to at least bring up some air freshener so i could sleep and he offered me free breakfast for the next morning. I personally think i should have been monetarily compensated but that was not offered. I think overall, this hotel is not worth the price. The lobby is beautiful so you would think the rooms were decent but it needs to be renovated and the bathrooms are in very poor condition and the towels were old and hard. The mold on the walls, moldy curtains and the smelly toilets? They can definitely do better.

We got too the hotel at 2:55pm and the check in was for 3pm they told us the room is not ready yet to come back in an hour so went out for coffee and came back and they told us the room is still not ready so we got into the room just after 5pm and the lady who was working at the front desk was extremely rude did not even ask us if we want water or coffee while we wait I asked her for compensation like a free breakfast and just she laughed in our face that was extremely rude 100% do not recommend this hotel the only good thing is the location!

Perfect location in the city center, the staff is friendly and excellent. Rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet. Good value for money. They allowed us to leave our hand baggage in the hotel the last day after checking out, and we stayed in the lobby to work before leaving.

A very nice and cozy place to stay. The hotel in located in Grand Place area and also a walking distance to Brussels Central station. All staff are very friendly. The room is quite big with standard amenity.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is great and the view was very nice. The rooms needs renovation, they feel very old, The shower had holes and melted spots. The sink had rust marks.

I had asked for an early check-in, as I attended a wedding at 13h, at 8:30 i was told that 2 rooms were currently being cleaned & to check back at 11, at noon I was then told that the rooms are still not available. As i would not return until late, i was told that they would hold a nice room for me. When i returned, I was given a room in the cellar that looked like a prison cell! However, sheets were clean, bed was comfortable, the staff was friendly & polite. But I would NEVER EVER stay here again!!!!

It seems a lot of the negative reviews are from people who were put in a room downstairs in the "basement"... That being said, I was also put down there. The room was very creepy and secluded. You must go through three doors just to get to the elevator. The room itself did not have a safe and the bathroom was very unconformable. The first night we were there, I guess we were the only guests staying in the underground area so they simply neglected to turn on the heat for that whole floor... This was in mid-Autumn so it was freaking cold!!! They also did not turn on the hot water until the second day either, so after sleeping in a freezing cold room we were then forced to take cold showers too. Both these issues were solved when more guests checked in. The front desk was not overly friendly, in fact we must've gone in and out through the lobby at least a dozen times and never got a greeting from either front desk employees. That all being said, the location is in unbeatable and the price is right. I would stay here again based solely on the location and and price point compared to all other hotels in this area. I would definitely recommend calling ahead of time go ensure you are not put in a room down in the dungeon.

My husband and I had a great experience at Hotel Alma! We were upgraded to an amazing room with the best view of Grand Place! Service was wonderful, our room was great and clean, and the location was perfect. We will for sure stay here again :)

We stayed here for one night. We read at the review that some of the reviews mentioned about the unprofessional staff, however our experience was all very nice. The room was cleaned and spacious with our 3 XL suitcases. The hotel location is perfect to stroll around and many good restaurants and cafés. If we have to visit Brussels again, we definitely will choose this hotel again

Wow what a treat. Booked a family room for 5, which turned out to be two vertical interconnecting rooms with a spiral staircase joining them. We have stayed at many places around the world, but this struck a chord! So nice to come back to. Great location, clean and comfortable with friendly staff. Ticks all the boxes. Would happily stay again.

Great location, easily walkable to lots of different tourist attractions. Me and my partner went for the Christmas markets, stayed 3 nights. Hotel is nice and staff are friendly. Breakfast included is quite good, room was also good and bed comfortable. Would recommend

Stayed for 1 week while on holiday in Brussels and Alma is a very good choice for those wishing to be in the center. All the staff were super friendly and able to assist with everything, super professional greeting us each time we entered and made us aware of an ongoing light display in the city. Gluten free bread available for breakfast However, We encountered a few issues with our room which affected my given score: The room temperature was baking hot and the aircon was pre-set to heating, the tap was not screwed in, bed & pillow uncomfortable, room not soundproof. Nevertheless our room was cleaned DEEPLY and given fresh towels both on the daily. In my advice this hotel is good for those looking for short breaks but with no bar or hotel dinner restaurant then another hotel would be needed for longer in a city like this

I loved my stay here in October. While it’s true the rooms are a bit old, dark and decor is outdated, it was very very clean and the bathroom felt newly renovated. The location is amazing, doesn’t get any better as you are walking distance to everything. But the best part of all was the staff, I spoke to around 5 staff members during my short stay and every single one of them was incredibly kind, friendly and helpful. I accidentally dropped my necklace in the sink, and they were SO helpful in retrieving it for me - I’m so grateful and appreciative of their service and kindness. They really deserve the 5 stars, thank you Hotel Alma! 😊

We stayed this place for 3 nights . Room size was ok but on the second night the room AC stopped working. We informed the receptionist that Ac is not working around 10 pm and even after trying multiple time they were not able to fix it till 11:40pm and we have to change the rooms. We were fine changing rooms but we requested that if possible we can shift the luggage tomorrow morning as we are sleepy and all the luggage were out, they told you can do that but you still need to give the key to them. We were not happy with this attitude of staff as if we will run with the room keys. So ultimately we have to shift the luggage at 11:40 pm and then we moved to another room for sleeping. Other than that we have a prepaid booking still they asked 50 euros for security which obviously they refunded while leaving the room. Location was good one main reason we selected the hotel.

My mom and I were visiting for a couple of nights, back in January and we were delighted. The location is spectacular, super central, several tourist points quite close just by walking. The hotel staff was super friendly, always looking for a way to make us feel at home. They recommended places to visit. The delicious and varied breakfast. I work remotely and I had to work a few hours... something that made me a little nervous, since I didn't know what the Internet connection was going to be like and the truth was that it exceeded my expectations. I was able to work without a problem, and the connection has been one of the most stable I've had in different hotels where I've stayed. Thanks a lot. I definitely recommend it.

An okayish hotel where you can stay a night on the budget but probably never come back. Positives: location, cosmetics (I would never expect Rituals in a hotel of this price range), big rooms, price Not-so-positives: the rooms were somewhat old and stuffy, I found a hair in the bathtub which was definitely not mine (I suspect it was the cleaning lady's, as I did not see it on arrival during typical inspection, but only on second day), confused staff, like the 'bouncer' at the breakfast place, who asked me three times if this is really my room/name (yes, I know my name, yes I'm sure that's it, let me have my breakfast!), the breakfast was mediocre even for hotel buffet standards, and issues with payments (American Express can be used to pay online, but not on-site for the tax and deposit, my Maestro could be used for the tax but not the deposit, and my Visa got rejected once too, but worked the other time - faulty terminal? luckily I had more cards with me)

I booked for 1 night, I was given a room in the basement and there was a wooden stairs inside the room to get to the bed, this wasn't mentioned in the booking details and no picture of the same was there. Heating wasn't working in the bathroom. WiFi coverage was very weak in the room, almost there was no coverage at all. Also cellular coverage was very bad in the room ( because it is in the -1 floor) I had to go upstairs every time I wanted to use the internet ! I will never book again at this hotel

Great location near the Grand Place. But the room was very hot at night. There is no individual AC, so the only option was opening a window, but it’s very loud outside due to the bars nearby.

I had a wonderful stay at the Alma. Great value and wonderful location. Big shout-out to Jay at the front desk. He was extremely helpful and friendly, making me feel very welcomed. I hope to come back one day.

It's pretty beautiful hotel, the receptionist really kind, the room also big and clean, it's located in the centre not far from the brussel central station and the royal palace but there was only one receptionist there then when I wanted to check in or check out. It took so long time with long queuing as well. It's really uncomfortable

Very convenient hotel in the centre of Brussels which enables easy access to public transport and various sightseeing spots and shops. We received fifth floor room which was nice however the walls are damaged with water marks and cracks in the very top. Also, no air condition but for our visit in September the provided fan was sufficient. Only issue I had was with the outside doors sometimes refusing to open or being slow to open and the very minimal equipment of rooms however it well suited our needs for 3 days. Reception staff was always lovely. 4/5 would recommend.

Great location and that's it. Beds and pillows are not comfortable. Air conditioner doesn't work in the room even when they give you the remote control to adjust it so if it's summertime it's gonna get really hot. Shower is also not good as the water keeps getting cold and hot during the shower. There was no hot water in the last day. Staff is nice though.

Excellent customer service from the folks at the front desk Mark and Daniel who gave restaurant recommendations, and Eva who helped me figure out and print out our Thalys train tickets. Location too was great as the hotel is so close to the train station. The buffet breakfast was really good! I would book here again.

Cute and easy hotel located on a beautiful side street surrounded by a good deal of food and close to sites like Grand Place. Very friendly staff. Rooms with high ceilings and larger bathrooms.

We stayed here for two nights and the room wasn't as good as we expected. The full floor carpet looked dirty and the paint was wearing off the bathroom door and there was cracks on the walls and roof. Shower didn't have warm water at first but you should turn on the bathroom light to get warm water. Worst thing was the smell in the room, we had to keep the window open all day and night to keep the smell away. The staff was kind and helpful and the location was perfect, I wish the room would had been also.

Breakfast is nothing special, not that bad. The managent have no felxibilty in terms of making an alteration of booking dates. which I understand it can be difficult when the booking was made with booking platforms, but i know it could have possible from the management side. Staffs are freindly, location is amazing, room was comfy. I found a small bug on the bed, thought it was a bed bug. But it turned out it was just another bug that is not harmful.

Amazing location - a few minutes walk to the Grand Place. My room was big with big bathroom. It was cleaned every day despite the message saying rooms are cleaned every second day. I didn't have the breakfast so I can't tell anything about it.

Horrible place . Felt like a prison. The room smells of smoke and lots of noises from the street . We left as soon as we checked in saw the room .

Hotel very well located with a nice room and breakfast. From top floors we can see the gran place tower. The employees were very friendly. Also the hotel offered a nice gift for my toddler. The only negative points is that they should have double windows, it can be a bit noisy outside; and it would be useful a mini bar in the room, neverthless in the reception they stored my bottle of milk in their fridge.

  • 2/5 Patricia R. 1 year ago on Google
Don’t stay here if you can avoid it. The location is good, very close to Grand Place. The reviews about the stairs are accurate—they are narrow, winding, and steep (not the most comfortable if you need to use the restroom at night, in the morning, or if you want to take your luggage upstairs). The shower was really slow draining, kind of gross to shower in. My room was never cleaned during the day even though I requested it. I left my bags in the room the morning before checking out and when I went to try to enter the room (before the official check out time), the key no longer worked. Don’t get me wrong, the staff was never rude but the hotel seems kind of run down and overpriced for what it is.

  • 2/5 Sarah K. 1 year ago on Google
The staff and reception area were nice and the location of the hotel was good, but the room we were given actually felt dangerous. There was a tall, steep, slippery and uneven wooden staircase with an inadequate railing from the tiny entranceway and bathroom area to where the bed was located. I tripped and nearly fell when going to the bathroom at night and felt scared every time I went up or down. Perhaps ask which room you are being assigned before booking at this hotel. I believe I was in room 104.

Very clean, rates are affordable and reasonable for a location that is right at the Brussels square and close to all amenities, staff are super extra accommodating, friendly, caring and makes sure your needs are well-attended, I really love ❤️ this hotel and highly recommend it! I will still stay at this hotel for my future visits again in Brussels...THANK YOU SO MUCH HOTEL ALMA!

Good hotel close to the grand-place. Because of pubs around lots of traffic on the street but OK with closed windows in the night. A bit strange architecture of tge rooms but big and tidy. Getting quick humid in the bathroom. Breakfast OK. In the end they don't refill everything by themselves. A bit sad no fancy Belgium cheese but good bread.

  • 3/5 Julia E. 1 year ago on Google
Very central, big and firm, comfy bed with nice pillows, high ceilings. Quite noisy since a bar next door plays live music until 06 AM in the weekends. But we were so tired so we had no problem falling asleep that night even though it was noisy. No early check ins unfortunately. Good brand of shampoo and soap, a bit bad that they didn't have conditioner or body lotion as many hotels in Sweden has where I'm from. I noticed a lot of hotels have shower curtains instead of shower glass walls which in my world is a bit unsanitary, this shower curtain was not very fresh. The bathroom overall was acceptable though. A bit pricy but overall a nice experience of a central hotel in Brussels. Beautiful lobby and breakfast room. Did not eat breakfast since we had to leave early so no comment on that. Close to the train station as well.
