Hotel is fine but it is not a luxury experience. It is more a time capsule where everything needs a brush up. The staff is nice but adequate. They do the minimum expected but you do not feel like they really care for you. The spa was closed and we were not told in advance. It was a shame but given our overall impression of what the hotel has to offer, I don't think we missed out on anything.

True rating is 3.5 Booked as an America Express Platinum member so my review is based on that experience. ROOM superior king. Room was spacious and clean with a small balcony that overlooked the courtyard (balcony not big enough to sit out on). BATHROOM was clean and nice, however, the HEAVY metal shower head broke off while my husband was showering. I saw this same issue in another person’s review so clearly this is an issue the hotel needs to address as this could have done some serious damage if it would have landed on his foot. We notified the hotel at checkout and before we could finish our sentence the receptionist knew exactly the issue. STAFF was friendly and we had no issues with them during our stay. BAR/RESTAURANT was nice. We did not order a full meal as it didn’t seem worth it and there are so many other places to dine around Brussels. We ordered a meat board and cheese board and it was very good. I also ordered an Old Fashioned and it was not good, I didn’t finish it. Husband ordered a Manhattan and said it was fine. BRUNCH buffet (Sunday). The breakfast/brunch was very nice and the food tasted great. Nice selection of pastries, waffles, meats/cheeses, bacon/sausage, eggs, fruits and veggies, juices/beverages. I’m not sure the price as we had breakfast included in our stay (I always recommend getting to buffets early if you’re somewhat germaphobic. Buffets have never been my favorite but getting there early makes me feel better about them). LOCATION is great. First time visitors to Brussels so I’m not sure the best place to stay but this was close to plenty of stuff, easy to walk, and near the subway. About a 25-35 min walk to Grand-Place (central). OVERALL we had a nice stay but it was too short to really take advantage of some of the other hotel amenities. Maybe I could give 4 stars but I’ll keep the 3.5 as I wasn’t overly impressed but everything was nice…except my old fashioned and the broken shower head. I’ve also worked in 5 star/luxury hotels so my opinion/experience is based on some inside knowledge and expectations.

Overall OK stay at this hotel. I booked the place via American Express FHR program. Great benefits. The room was nice but due to traffic/ambulance noise, I did not get much rest. The room was also extremely hot (sauna like) when we arrived so we had to open the window to get some air. Bathroom is nice and comfortable with both a tub and shower and heated floor, which was a nice touch. Great amenities in the room. The hotel is outside of the inner ring road of Brussels, so it’s quite a walk to the city center (take an Uber). Check in and check were easy and the breakfast buffet was top notch.

Stayed here with my partner over a long weekend. Hotel itself was pretty magnificent and very well presented, some extremely cool indoor areas (library/bars). Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Decent gym. Very well situated in the heart of Brussels, easy to get around via walking/bike/taxi etc. Staff were not great in our experience (maybe because we only spoke English?). Buffet breakfast was absolute carnage, took 15 minutes to get seated and had to fight over food and coffee - would recommend avoiding and getting your own breakfast if staying on a peak night. Overall had a very pleasant stay in Brussels. But - for the price point would expect slightly better service.

Location is great and overall it’s a nice classic hotel. But: Breakfast was disappointing: scrambled eggs made with eggs from pack (on top of that, they had a fishy taste), bacon was stacked in oven, so most strips where not crispy/not baked, sausages where dry and cold. In a hotel with that status, these things should not occur. Tip: Courtyard should be cleaned, go stand on one of the balconies and have a look directly yourself: some dead plants and dirty details…. Also: mattresses have a plastic cover: you start sweating very quickly because of that….

I have sent a request in English via email to book a room. At first I haven't received an answer and after a while two weeks, having received no answer, I sent again an email specifying all the details about our reservation request. The reservation agent Then answered me BUT IN FRENCH! WOW, you have an excellent costumer behavior, Not only neglecting and ignoring reservation requests, but also repsonding to your future costumers in another language, as if we are obliged to speak french!! I have been always wanting to staying at this hotel, now I see it lacks professionalism and time manners. Everything in a luxury hotel must be executed perfectly. But this hotel is not a luxury hotel I guess.

Terrible customer service, hotel is very outdated. They did not attempt to help accommodate our needs when our flight was cancelled. This hotel may have been nice at one point in time but they do not offer even close to 5 star service. Response: They did not inform me before my stay that I would be loosing my first nights stay, I was put under the assumption that I would be receiving my compensation for the first nights stay that I missed due to flight delays. They have been very unresponsive through email as well. I would stay at one of Brussels many other fine hotels, if a hotel is known mostly for the number of famous people who have stayed here (10+ years ago), they do not go too far to insure you have a good stay.

I reserved this hotel through Amex concierge, the hotel is nice and well located. Service was good also. The only problem that I have been having is with the billing… I received a voucher for €85 that were not applied to the bill, I contacted the hotel and they apologized and told me they will refund the voucher to the bill. I check my account and i have another charge for the double amount that was owe! So 2 charges one correct the other one for no reason and still no refund. I hope they can assist with this situation ASAP! Cause I’m on vacation and I don’t want to continue taking care of this… still not follow up from the hotel.

The hotel was clean. The location was perfect. The room size was very good, but I had a very bad experience at that hotel with one of the staff who supposed to be the security of the hotel He was very rude with me. I contacted the manager of the hotel, but she didn’t do anything.

This is the worst hotel in the world. It is definitely not the hotel you want to stay at in Brussels. Their service is terrible. Their staff does not care about the guest and the management does not seem to care about any complaints. Since the day of the check in I faced many issues, the ignorance from the staff for once. I stayed for 4 days and they were the worst 4 days I have ever spent at a hotel. I complained for 4 days that they do not pick up my phones and my room phone almost never works and just rings. And the air conditioning doesn’t work. We ended up having our windows open throughout our stay to keep the room temperature low. I had ordered some food and I was not aware the hotel policy does not deliver food but I am used to a 5 star hotel bringing my food up so I called and the lady was rude and said no twice and then I said I will pay for it and the colleague turned up for a tip in less than 2 minutes. It’s a hotel that unless you pay extra all normal services are not free. They do not update the minibar and after my first night they never gave any more water in my room. And me and my partner were sick on the last night and requested some water and it took them one hour at 5am in the morning to tell me they require cash because they cannot seem to locate a €500.00 deposit I had paid at check in. The hotel colleagues did not seem to care about that and did not provide water so I went to reception to be walked around the hotel to a closed restaurant and to be told that there is no water and I will have to wait for it to be brought to my room. The hotel staff are careless and lazy and seem to giggle at customers a lot. On my third night I went down and complained to the manager and assistant manager that my phone and AC do not work and my food is not being delivered up and that’s when I was informed of the policy of food being delivered and was given a promise for a technician to visit and check out the AC and phone and none of those promises were conducted and for the hassle I faced there were no consideration or compensations given. The hotel staff chased me for hours when their payment was due on my fourth night as I had paid for three at check in but apart from money this hotel does not care about anything. There is no exchange of service for the money and I wasn’t even given the courtesy of the same rate I was promised to extend instead I was given a much higher rate. This hotel is not worth staying or giving any business to. The staff seem to not understand English at all and do not want to help. AVOID THIS HOTEL!

The hotel hallway leading to our junior suit was run down and dirty , with damaged carpeting and torn wall paper . The Room we had shared 2 walls with the house keeping storage room and was very noisy , the room next door also had 2 walls shred with our room . I wonder if this was originally designed as a hotel or office building ! The room was dirty when we checked in and dusty . The furniture is dark and out dated and in need of updating as was the bleak carpet . one of the towels had a hole in it and the rest were old and need replacing. The phone next to the bed was malfunctioning and reception was very difficult to reach when we needed something. The breakfast was decent but the staff were not trained to look at the clients and ask if they needed anything but they were attentive once you got there attention. The staff in general were friendly and efficient . Room service was actually good and quick . This hotel urgently needs refurbishing.

For a luxury hotel, the service leaves a lot to be desired. After a 7-day stay with my family, I was subjected to discrimination upon utilizing the hotel library. After spending thousands in room rates and hundreds in the bar on food, drink and snacks… this treatment is appalling. I was confronted by a security guard who proceeded to grill me with questions as to who I was staying with and if I was a guest or not. Disgusting service for the price spent.

Good morning, I speak to you from Spain and I would be interested to know what company the amenities are that you have in your hotel. We recently had a visit from a client who stayed at his hotel and he really liked a type of perfume they had (it seems to be from Diptyque). Could you confirm it for me please? All the best Montse

The shower head literally fell off and I narrowly missed a big injury. I have expressed my dissatisfaction and requested the night be complementary as also the heat never worked, hence being brought a space heater at midnight, and there were stains on the floor. Please see pictures. I am traveling to support a worthy cause and have requested not to be charged. I do not wish to have an upgrade as they offered. I would prefer the foundation I'm assisting not be charged for the stay as it was not acceptable

The restaurant had high expectations since this is a very beautiful five star hotel unfortunately the outcome of the menu wasn't that high at all For example the grilled salmon was to dry and partly burned on the outside They also didn't pay great attention by slicing the meat as there were some fatty part's inside unfortunately I was very disappointed 😞☹️

Update: Convenient location at Place Stéphanie, though rooms facing the courtyard are very quiet. Some reviews say that the premises are old and in need of renovation (few scratches and chips here and there), perhaps there is a point but it the rooms are very clean. Bed linen are spotless and mattresses are comfortable. Most importantly bathroom facilities (sink, shower, bathtub) are crispy clean and look new. Also warm tile floors in a bathroom is a great feature! We stayed here twice now (rooms 508 and 605) and upon our second visit we got a welcome back postcard and 🍫 which was a nice touch. Room service: Food is well cooked and nicely presented, but still would give it 4 out 5, there is room for improvement of gratin 😉 Our favourite starter though is black truffle fries! Website: One frustrating tech aspect is that their online booking feature on both the hotel and H Rewards websites still don’t work, but the solution is to make a booking through their H Rewards app. Of course the most important driving force behind any hotel is its team, all staff we had a pleasure to meet were very welcoming and accommodating, so very special thanks to the team for all the help! 🙏🏼

While I typically opt for modern hotels, I chose this one due to its excellent location. However, I must admit that this old-school establishment doesn't quite suit my taste. The room lacked modern facilities, with no WiFi cable jack, and managing the lights required turning each one on individually—a unique experience. Unfortunately, my stay was further disturbed by a noisy party downstairs, and despite calling the reception multiple times, it took four attempts before someone answered. This level of service was unexpected for a "5-star" hotel. I requested a reduction in the music volume, but it didn’t happen, my Saturday evening was completely disrupted by hideous party music. Therefore, if you're a modern traveler seeking a modern facilities and quiet evening, I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Beautiful Hotel! Excellent facilities and even better service! Very personalized and attentive arrival. Rooms were clean with all of what you would need and more. Location also good and central (shopping area). I highly recommend the place and would be pleased to come back

Bad smell in corridor, light goes through the door, room poorly isolated (very noisy, can hear all noise in the street), terrible room service when asked to fix the room (various omissions), omission when giving invoices, have to pay 30€ to get spa access. Rooms feel old in style. Arrived at 9.30 pm and waiter refuses to take food order because there are too many customers and cuisine is overwhelmed! Where is the 5-star service that should go with a 5-star pricing? Overall over-priced for what you get.

Beautiful building in the centre of Brussels. The good: location, spacious room, professional staff. The bad: breakfast was below average, reasonable choices, but the quality was not what I expected for 5 star hotel. Also if one comes 30 min before closing, not much to choose from, as breakfast items are not replenished. The ugly: no wifi in my room, and no hot water. Cleaning not consistent either, with trash not being picked up and water bottles not provided. Too many negatives during the stay, therefore I don’t recommend.

Fantastic hotel, great location and the staff really knew what they were doing with a smile the whole time... Room was very large with a huge comfortable bed. But... While our evening was lovely, the next morning felt a little as if we were staying at an airport hotel - there was a large conference being hosted and the majority of the attendees apparently were at breakfast at the same time as us. They had cleared out large sections of the buffet which were very slowly being restocked. There was a lot of networking and pre-sales going on making things noisy and rather corporate. The two large hot drinks machines had failed that morning and the industrial size spare they had wheeled in was also struggling which had the staff in a bit of a flap although they remained polite. I appreciate that it is not practical to have two breakfast areas but as a tourist in an upmarket hotel I want to relax and enjoy a slow breakfast. With all of the activity in the room, if I hadn't already paid for breakfast I would have gone elsewhere, even having paid i'm not sure I would have gone back on a second day but we left so not an issue. A good hotel, probably a great hotel at the weekends!

When we got there, they put as in the wrong rooms even since we called earlier to confirm we get a suite with two adjoining rooms. Bellboy doesn't work after 11pm. So we had to get all the luggage in at midnight. Mattresses are water-bed quality, it will drive you crazy. Absolutely horrible. Water stain patches all over the hallways. Rooms are really spacious. Valet tends to he 20 min wait, bellboy was 40 min wait and our Michelin star restaurant reservations where a disaster. We basically kissed the door twice, it was a fiasco. If you are with kids they can NOT use the pool. You have to be over 18 yr old. Overall not worth the money at all.

I loved the room. The bed was great , excellent quality mattress and sheets. The bathtub was big and it was quiet. The decor of the hotel is outdated and yet the rooms make up for it! The spa is basic, nothing special and the massage wasn’t top class but friendly.

A classic hotel at a great location.. staff is quite helpful.. the inside facing rooms at the first floor have a great terrace area, which is a gem of a feature.. hotel has spa and a swimming pool, but requires additional payment of €35 per person per day.. has a decent breakfast menu.

Beautiful hotel, but also excellent service. It's in the details like a pillow menu, amenities, two times turn down service and really caring if everything is in order. Also a very good breakfast with much to choose from and relaxes atmosphere. We booked through American Express Fine hotels and resorts and we received all benefits without having to ask, including room upgrade. Will definitly visit again!

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the impeccable experience I had at your distinguished establishment. It's not every day that one encounters a hotel that seamlessly combines luxury, comfort, and a commitment to safety protocols. The accommodations were nothing short of splendid. The room's elegance and attention to detail made for a truly luxurious stay. The added measures in place for a safe and comfortable visit were reassuring. Thank you for providing a memorable experience that not only met but exceeded all expectations. Your commitment to excellence, even during challenging times, is truly commendable. I look forward to returning to your five-star oasis in the future. Keep up the fantastic work!

This is the nicest hotel in which I've ever stayed. The bathroom has lots of marble and the bathroom floor is heated. The bed is comfortable. Several airlines use this hotel for crew layovers. Try the breakfast buffet... especially if you're a crew member... half-price!

Stayed here for a night. Aside from breakfast buffet, they also gave us a €85 meal ticket which we could use in their lunch/dinner restaurant. Service was great as well.

We booked with Amex and was upgraded to a deluxe double room for free, and the hotel also gave us free breakfast and an €85 voucher to spend on lunch/dinner/drinks (which was plenty). The service was courteous everywhere we went. The deluxe room was great with a very well equipped bathroom and Expresso machine. There was also a terrace but it was wet due to the rain. The breakfast had a lot of options, and the dinner also featured a live performance as well

We went to a ball, so I cannot say anything about the bedrooms. The location is very good and central, the ballroom very elegant. The service was only soso. Our full glasses were removed while we were dancing to oblige us to pay for more drinks at the bar. Sad.

Nice classic hotel. Good location. Friendly staff. But poor bathroom facilities like shower thermostat not working (very hot water scalding you) during shower. Some missing bathroom fixtures like hooks for hanging bathrobe. In essence, room maintenance poor. Needs improvement to gain five stars.

Certainly not a 5 star hotel. Poor buffet breakfast, didn’t even get our drink served to us. Library area never open for drinks even though the main bar was full. Had to pay €30 each for the pool. Rooms a bit shabby. For what is supposed to be a top hotel in Brussels I was disappointed.

By far one of the best experiences I've had at a hotel and i feel incomparable to hotels I've visited in the UK. The customer service experience was amazing all staff were lovely to speak to and made sure we were well accommodated. The location is really great as you're just around the corner from this very foody street where you could have almost any type of cuisine down there. Shopping is literally only across the road and you're only a 10 minute uber ride/30 minute leisurely walk from the Eurostar. I noticed in my room on arrival there was loose parts/old rusting bits in the bathroom but by the end of the day and returning to my room I was pleasantly surprised this was all replaced without mentioning anything. The rooms are massively spacious and was so pleased with the bathtub and shower. I only wish I had more time to visit the spa downstairs on my trip. The WiFi also could not fault and the breakfast buffet had a great selection of foods.

The service here is absolutely excellent! You're barely walking through the door and they're already taking care of your every need. I've never met a friendlier staff! Rooms were large for Europe and well-maintained and have everything you need. The hotel has cabs at the ready and is also near the train stations. Tons of restaurants less than a quarter mile away.

If you like unfriendly, rude personnel in a so called luxury hotel go for it! 1 star cause I cannot give 0. Oh yes, several areas of the hotel are just filthy dirty!! Plenty of better hotels with friendly and knowledgeable staff at half the price in brussels.

Very disappointed for a 5 star hotel. The junior suite was ok, nothing impressive. We had to call the reception to send a technician for our tv because it did not work several times. The thing that shocked me the most is that they charge you 7.5€ every time you request for a room service (per delivery) and even if you request an extra cover, you’ll be charged 7.5€! I have never seen this in my entire life ! When you book a room, you pay for the service that comes with it already! Furthermore, the pool was only accessible to guests from 18years old, I couldn’t enjoy it with my little 1 year old girl… I definitely do not recommend this hotel !

Beautiful hotel but service is slow as always in western Europe. Very close to the shopping street. Breakfast costs £38 per person if you didn't reserve on check-in.

  • 1/5 N. A. 9 months ago on Google
You need to pay 35€ to access the spa! I have been to so many luxury 5 star hotels, and this is the first time I have had to pay to use the pool! What an aberration! And you even have to reserve. I think this should be a 4 stars hotel, since a 5 star hotel needs to have this included. Awful service.

One month ago, we were staying and celebrating a special day at the Steigenberger Brussels. It was a wonderful experience. Everything was excellent. We met Mr.Christophe Dias, who made sure and possible that we had a wonderful stay. For example helped us with recommendations, he reserved table at the bar and more then that he was there for us to any time during our stay. We met him as very friendly and super polite person. Also we really enjoyed the breakfast and also the location of the hotel. We will come back so soon
