I was for days now excited to have a vegan place in the neighborhood. It all changed after ordering their tofu scramble plate. The tempeh was good, but the scramble itself was totally tasteless, to the point that I could not even eat it. I don't think that is due to any super high standards, I have eaten in other vegan places as well, and it has never been bad! The waitress was polite but not asking a customer "is there something wrong?" if you see that they asked for scramble and they give it back almost untouched, is a bit of a problem in my opinion and doesn't make anyone to want to go back. Paying 10.5E for 2 small pieces of bread, tempeh, and 4 pieces of microwaved tomato... edit/answer: Of course I did say directly my complains to your colleague, I can speak out, but nothing changed. I had to pay 10.5E for a tofu scramble I could not eat, she didn't even propose a small discount :D Thanks for saying I can pass by again, customer service does not work like that for me.

One Sunday afternoon we decided to take a stroll through St Gilles and we were very happy to find this neighborhood, cozy, well-presented café not far from the commune building. The staff was super friendly, prices modest, and finally, our coffee and chai latte very good. The cafe is a relaxing place to chat and read. It is also possible to buy books and gadgets (like coffee mugs). We also liked that soy milk does not come with extra charges.

What a wonderful place for a nice lunch. 100% plant-based, the staff is very friendly and the place cosy and welcoming. You can also purchase a selection of their coffees and reusable mugs. I could not go without trying the Blue soy latte - made with blue spirulina (not only pretty but also tasty). And I went for the toast of the day: with scrambled tofu, mushrooms, a real treat. I particularly liked the focus of the place on encouraging reuse: you can take a coffee to go with their Billie cup and they offer a discount if you bring your own mug. Would definitively come back to try out their brunch.

Avoid. Waiting time is very long. Approx 30. min for scrambled tofu and grilled cheese sandwich. We had finished our drinks when the food came. The scrambled tofu was average, though the grilled sandwich was pretty good. Chai latte was not strong enough, i.e the vegan milk taste was strongly present. Overall, not worth the money.

Breakfast on a Sunday, which means there is only one option for granola, pancakes and toast. -1 star in the rating due to the milkshake, which was quite expensive and not impressive. Having a „Pulp Fiction like 5$ Shake“ in mind but instead getting what is shown on the second picture. Anyway the dishes we ordered were tasteful and contained a lot of fresh veggies, serving was quick and the waiters have been much more friendly than other reviewers experienced (plus speaking English).

Had a great lunch here. First we were sceptical about the prices, but portions make up for it. I wanted tea, but they didn't have lemon teabags and they offered me black tea with lemon slices. Perfect way to serve customers.

What you see is what you get, could ring truer for this Saint-gillean cafe! You walk into what could pass off as a cosy living room setting with comfortable chairs, a walled rustic bookshelf and (almost) vintage-ish dining ware. I tried their coffee and fresh juice blend and loved both. It’s a perfect hang if you want to work, read a book or just stare out the window :)

Actually stumbled in here because of their cozy and inviting atmosphere. After taking a look on their drinking menu I knew I want to try their homemade Golden Milk. Windy outside. Still my heart was melting. Spices on point. Hot. 🧡💛 They also have a menu with great sounding food options and cake.

We were looking for a vegan cafe to eat breakfast at and L'Alchimiste was recommended on a few websites. We ordered the breakfast bowl, which included scrambled tofu and smoked tempeh. Unfortunately the scrambled tofu was genuinely not seasoned at all, apart from a lot of curcuma to make it yellow. The smoked tempeh turned out to be two small slices of regular fried tempeh. Not bad but nothing amazing. The bread and mocha were okay, the black coffee was meh. Overall quite expensive for a very underwhelming breakfast.

Went there two mornings in a row when visiting Brussels. Loved the croissants, matcha latte AND the freshly squeezed orange juice! The place looks really nice and I can’t stress enough how much I love it’s fully vegan❤️

I could not believe that the pancake was vegan, the best I have ever eaten. Congratulation! Fantastic food and super friendly nice staff. I wish it was in my neighbourhood...

Lovely place, service and food. Small and cosy, just don’t sit by the door in winter as you’ll need to get up and properly close it after each customer. Food portions were quite large, felt super full. Very very tasty: blueberry pancakes and scrambled tofu on sourdough bread, very good!! Fast service and kind staff. Totally recommend, bit pricey but its worth it. And please fix the door;-) ill go back, thanks!

Wonderful small coffee place with great food. We got the pancakes and the Banh Mi and really liked it. The terrace is also very nice and lets you enjoy the view of some of the very nice houses of St Giles.

Amazing food, amazing coffee and gorgeous view. The service was great and gave a good description of their product. The pancakes were fluffy and tasty.

A nice place for a plant-based breakfast. We did not opt for the brunch option, as we found it expensive. Instead, we had a warm drink and pancakes. Both were very good. The staff is very friendly but seemingly struggled with coping with a full room: we had to wait long for our order to arrive, our order was not correct, they spilled our coffee and did not even offer a clean saucer…

Expensive brunch: 25e for one tiny pancake w 1 cercle of banana, a tiny toast with a bit of nice pea hoummos topped w a piece of baked squash so small it's laughable it was even spelled out on the menu as "roasted vegetables" (in plural!), a tiny juice (though good) a coffee and a rather sandy cookie. We had high expectations and while most of it was tasty it left us hungry and feeling robbed. We told the waitress and she had nothing to answer. It's a disappointment to have to go to the supermarket to buy food when coming out of a brunch place... We won't go back, it's a pity because it is a nice cosy place and has vegan healthy food which was why we went there in the first place.

I love the curry sandwich, breakfasts and coffee here. The decor is super cool and Perrine is lovely. Highly recommended this Vegan gem.

Best flat white I've had in Belgium. Nice people, breezy sidewalk tables with shade, fun old China cups. Banana bread was just OK. Decent prices, too.

Delicious food and really lovely staff. I'm looking forward to visiting once lockdown is over and it's open for eating-in because the decor and atmosphere are very nice. We tried the breakfast with tofu scramble which was delicious but quite small. It was perfect for a light breakfast but probably not enough if you're hungry. Everything is vegan, many options are gluten free and they serve all day breakfast as well as lunch.

We had a wonderful light vegan breakfast here. Coffee is also nice!

Better and more local than hipster exterior suggest. From the outside I worried this was yet another standardized hipster coffee place. But once inside I was pleasantly surprised by the personal touch: home made foods, good coffee, nice books and friendly for kids. We had a latte, americano and a babycinno which they made with cacao powder. The baby didn’t love it, but I did. Would go back

L'alchemist is not like any bo-bo-coffee place. This place really IS cozy, light and does feel personal. It's great to work, catch up with friends or just read a book in the corner. EDIT: Please drink they're vegan cappuccino, it's quite the best way to wake up. PS: Paulo Caulo definitely got his book title idea by seeing this place.

High class vegan food made with love and best coffee maker. Feels like home and even on busy days the atmosphere is lovely thanks to the friendly service. Check it out!

I can only recommend this place - great variety of vegan beverages, all kinds of coffee (iced coffee, even vegan affogato!), smoothies, milkshakes, soft drinks. The vibe in there with the nice music, the book shelves, the semi-cluttered decorations is just so beautiful! Also a great variety of breakfast, sweet, savory, smaller and bigger portions - everyone can find something here. :)

😠 Had to wait 30 minutes for a simple burger order. The burgers are just lying there, ready to be served, but staff is generally not capable or willing to pick one up and lay it on a platter. Be prepared to invest some time when visiting this place. Really makes you consider the "fast" in "fast food".
