It's not easy to bring great artists to life. But the international quintet of jazz musicians that paid tribute to Toets Thielemans on January 12, 2024, a freezing evening, had no problem with that. Their interplay brought the cozy Music Village into utter ecstasy. Harmonica player Olivier Vander Bauwede got into the soul of his great predecessor. The atmosphere and service in the jazz club were top notch.

My husband searched music nearby while in Belgium and “The Music Village” came up so we got car service there from our hotel. The fee was $20 euros per person to enter. We arrived with no reservations but was able to secure a cute little spot to enjoy the blues band that was just starting. The music was entertaining. The drinks and food were delicious. Great little jazz club in Brussels. They have some good food too (dark inside, hard to get a good picture). We went when we were in BXL last week, can't remember the band but I think from the card on the table they play twice a month or so. They were very good. They were only speaking French (though the server spoke English, as basically everyone in Brussels seems to) and I think I caught that the piano player had only started playing with the band recently? So extra good in that case! Food was good, super soft and light Brussels style Belgian waffle! Place was pretty food, but you can make reservations ahead of time (we did).

Enjoyed the jazz live performance here. The performing group was professional and had really good time with wonderful participation from everyone. Good variety of food and drinks to go with the music. The place can get full quickly on weekends so better to reserve in advance. Their website lists programs and allows reservations without advance payment.

A proper jazz club vibe, you will need to book ahead at the weekend. The cocktails are something special, restaurant menu is a little limited but good quality. Will go again.

I stumbled across their summer jazz show on Facebook and thought I'd give it a try. I was definitely not disappointed. If you like jazz and live music this is a must. Musicians and singers moved on and off the stage to give the audience varied music from such a broad genre.

I recently went to the Music Village for the first time. Although the band was great, it became very difficult to enjoy when halfway through 3 very drunk / high people were shown to the back, close to my table. They talked and laughed incessantly for the rest of the show. Three different people at my table asked them to be quiet on 10 occasions but were ignored, smirked at, and met with insults. The staff could hear the table talking but instead of asking them to be quiet, engaged them in conversation on multiple occasions. By the end we presumed they were treated that way as they knew the band, however we were then told that one of them was a waiter who had come on his night off. I am absolutely disgusted that someone who knows the atmosphere of the club thought it appropriate to come to his workplace on his night off and purposefully disrupt the music for customers who actually paid to enter. I’m even more disgusted that the staff on duty didn’t think it was appropriate to address his behaviour. The Music Village is not cheap. Coming from a household reduced to one income due to the pandemic, it was not an easy decision to come to for an evening, but we wanted to support a local venue that was probably struggling. After this, I won’t be back.
