Another interesting visit. There were very interesting original pieces! The voice guide was very informative. There was a Playmobil exposition when we were there. All children going crazy to see the impressive spectacle :-) and of course some parents. The history of the building was also interesting te hear. On the other side of the road, behind the church, there is a parking.

Situated in the center of Waterloo and part of the museum pass 1815, it's the museum where a refurbishment could help making it more interactive. The temporary exhibition although makes it worthwhile the visit. Never new the playmobil collection also covered Napoleonistic figurines...

Very interesting museum, well organised, beautiful collection, and the exhibition about Egypt is breathtaking. I will definitely come back as there will always be new exhibitions with different themes

A small museum - a memorial to the headquarters of the commander-in-chief of the united army, Englishman Arthur Wellington. History, Napoleon Bonaparte's last battle in 1815. The museum ticket MPass is valid.

The overview or the batlle itself is certenly good as starting point. Just across the touristic info office. I recommend the passaport ticket from the tourist office. Valid for a year to visit 4 historic spots.

More people should know about that place. Lots of Memorablia form 200 years ago when Napoleon fought the British. Against all odds, the British prevailed. This victory museum does a great job to keep the memory alive. We must not forget.

Interesting museum, especially due to the well preserved building. It has to be seen with the other Waterloo sites for a whole experience of the Waterloo battle. I expected more interactive themes as it was boring for the kids.

Museum currently being modified but remains very nice to visit. Too bad the films don't coordinate well with the site during the visit.

Any visit to the Waterloo Battlefield must include this important museum inside a former 1750 Auberge turned to Wellingtons place to rest overnight during the battle itself. On three floors of small rooms is packed information on Wellington's stay and that of his fellow staff officers. Gordon his aide-de-champ died in Wellingtons bed on the night of the battle and is all here to see. Allow a good hour to see it all. Well presented and carefully displayed. Also a splendid bookshop. Staff were friendly and very helpful in both French & English. Entrance thicket can also be part of the battlefield museum entrance

Another must see if you are a fan of history and especially of the 18th and 19th century. They had several different displays removed at the moment, including the French Cuirass with mortal damage. There was an Egypt Expedition Exhibition existing, extra Euros expected (€2). Enjoy 😉

A really great museum. Really well run with better artefacts and gift shop than either the Battle site or Napoleon's Staff site. The staff were knowledgeable and very friendly and made it memorable for all my family. Thank you very much for a great visit

The museum and battlefield excelled in my expectations. A fantastic day out. So funny in the shop, they only sold Napoleon figures. Staff very friendly. All information in several languages. A must for anyone interested in Napoleonic wars.

An interesting museum with the combined ties to Wellington and the battle of Waterloo, being where he stayed on the eve of the battle, then where he wrote his despatches afterwards. The courtyard includes the curio of the burial place of Uxbridge's leg. My only negative, but serving to knock a star from my rating, was the person providing the narration on the English audioguide who was unaware that the British army contains no "loo-tenants" and quite butchered the names of the German generals.

I went for the playmobil exhibit on Napoleon. It was impressive! (Did not see the Wellington museum itself though).

This museum is a gem in the middle of Waterloo. I must have walked past it several times. This visit followed a visit to the large Lion monument outside of Waterloo. In my opinian this is a more personal insight into the momentous events, so it is well worth a visit

  • 5/5 Natalie D. 10 months ago on Google
I really enjoyed the museum and it's great to have it in a building with such a great history as the inn where Wellington established his HQ. There's a great chronology of the main players so you get a feel for their lives and careers. The artifacts themselves are well-labelled with most having an English translation too. The latest exhibition is on the Egypt campaign and I found it really interesting- there's a great video playing of the area which really sets the scene. In the entrance, there's a really good little shop too!

Excellent... a proper old fashioned musseum with many interesting and original exhibits. The admission price includes an audio description device, which describes the contents of each numbered room in great detail. The buikding is over 300 years old, and was Wellingtons lodgings and headquarters before the battle. Well worth the admission price.

One of the beautiful museums I have visited. Those who buy a Waterloo museum ticket can also visit this museum.

Would have been better if half the exhibits weren't being renovated! No mention before going in and still had to pay full price. Would be worth admission when all open.

Person gallery on Wellington and his accompanies. Much less to give than the Waterloo museum.

  • 1/5 Kevin M. 10 months ago on Google
Unfortunately, this museum isn’t currently worth going to. If you want to see artifacts and already understand the context then it should be fine. If like me you want to learn something about Wellington and Waterloo, you will be disappointed. At this time it’s not possible to learn much here. Its undergoing renovation so hopefully this will change in the future.

  • 3/5 David C. 10 months ago on Google
Interesting museum in the building that Wellington used as his headquarters during The Battle of Waterloo. Would have rated higher if it wasn’t for the fact that a third of the rooms were closed for ‘maintenance’ and we were given no mention of this when we paid.

Absolutely beautiful and spacious with full of flowers and greenery in the summer. It is a museum dedicated to the Battle of Waterloo around June 18 in 1815. The museum exhibits a collection of documents and artifacts that indicates the historical significance of the battle. This location is also a charming destination for visitors or history enthusiasts in learning about this European history.

Not so easy to find but actually in plain sight! A bit tired in parts but nonetheless, very interesting with loads of stuff I didn't know and pictures that really tell the story. Seeing the history of Napoleon's invasion of Egypt was an added bonus.

(Translated by Google) For those unfamiliar with the Battle of Waterloo and the historical setting, the Wellington Museum is a good introduction with the battle going almost hour by hour, with details on the movement of armies, tactics, and characters - keys. We can also learn details about the daily life of the soldiers of the time and the weapons used. Visit of approximately one hour with an audioguide of reasonable duration. The museum is located about 1 kilometer from Waterloo station, in a straight line with rue de la Station.

(Translated by Google) This is the inn where Wellington took up residence for the battle of Waterloo. It is a pity that so little has remained original about the building itself. That made it a lot more interesting. You will receive a detailed account of the Battle of Waterloo. And it's a shame: a brochure states that this museum is free on the first Sunday of the month. NOT SO.
