Beautiful building filled with some great exhibitions. There's exhibits on the development of democracy in Belgium, the history of the city, migration, and some contemporary pieces thrown in. It's quite interesting and has a lot of history to show off.

Nice museum. Nice to know about Belgium and a such nice way. English available in the museum so you can read and listen to history. Easy access. There is a locker free of charge and a coffee place in case you are hungry at the end.

I bought tickets online, although maybe it wasn't necessary because it's summer and it's quite hot, so it's not crowded. The museum is wonderfully conceived and executed. We enjoyed visiting the old palace remains in the basement as much as in the pleasant garden of the restaurant. A small complaint because there is no ventilation on the first and second floors, so we had to rush the visit because it was too hot. All in all, it's worth a visit.

A really good museum. Focus historical timeline of Belgium from creation to modern day. They also have rotating exhibitions through the year. The exhibit on Belgium Art Nouveau was really interesting.

Amazing experience. I did not know about it, found it by chance since the palace are was closed, but it was the best introduction to the history and situation of both the city and the country. So complete and interactive.

Staff were extremely friendly, and the place itself is beautiful, but I just don't understand how in a museum about Belgian history there was barely any discussion (if any at all!) regarding Belgium's colonial history. Considering that it's 2023, I think this is exceptionally absurd. There was a lot of self-praise too and it seemed like there was a lack of objective and critical analysis because of this. Though I must say the real life accounts and migration stories were a great touch, and I thoroughly enjoyed this part!

Have you ever wondered what Belgium brought to the world? If so then the BELvue museum is for you, it is a small museum with the background and history of Belgium and unique features and invention. It will take you maximum an hour to walk through the museum.

We wanted to visit the museum on Monday, since the website shows that it's open on Mondays from 9:30 to 17. Once you get there, there's a big sign that says that Mondays are for groups that booked only. If you have your day planned, this is not ok.

This museum really glosses over the colonial history in the Congo. It’s an important part of Belgium’s history that deserves more than a passing mention. Really felt distasteful.

Nice exposition on Antarctic exploration and global warming. It is free and I advise everyone to check it out. Plus the building is amazing. I have not seen the permanent exposition (the Museum itself)

This is a very pleasant museum that thoroughly explains the history of Belgium. It was very informative and really helpful in understanding the country and its past. There were a lot of interesting subjects, and they made sure English speakers also understood everything, which we highly appreciated.

I was really impressed with the museum's restaurant, which is worth visiting in its own right. It offers a variety of organic and plant-based options, as well as meat, and fit mine and my friends' dietary requirements. Highly recommend.

For the moment a nice art deco exposition. Entrance to old streets and the rest of one of the biggest palace of the middle age

Not bad but I would advise you to rather visit the House of European History

A museum for the whole family - which means it remains a little superficial and simplistic at points. But it’s great to give you a first overview of Brussels/Belgium if you moved here

I haven't learned anything about Belgian history, so that's pretty disappointing... The objects in the museum are very random and there's little context or explanation as to why they are there. The rooms are full of information in text which makes it pretty boring after a while. The building is nice though

Must visit to learn about Belgian history. Very detailed and interactive museum.

very nice museum. not the best best in brussels, but absolutely good. an introduction to history, politics and society of belgium. it's a little introductory, so it's mostly interesting e.g. to people who have recently moved to belgium and want to get to know the country. or also school classes. it's modern, very well-done, clever, multimedia. On the website it says to plan 90min, but that's totally wrong. I spent 90min only in the first two rooms (of 7). Plan 4 hours easy! I absolutely recommend this museum.

Good place to visit to know about Brussels and Belgium in general. They also have many exhibitions at the venue, so check the website for more updates. The entrance fee is €7 and it's okayish. There are two floors for Belgium History and I enjoyed it. There are many artifacts and video descriptions for them. You can learn about Belgium from its formation up to modern times.

We were surprised on how good this museum was! Had never heard of it and visited because it was included in the museumpass. The exhibition has a nice mix of multimedia and things you can touch, things you can read. It's rather small so also kids managed it really well. if you're in central Brussels and have 1-2h, just pop in!

Very good use of interactive multimedia. Great display of infographics outlining Belgium's change over time. Should engage even the more reluctant museum visitors.

I’m travelling in Belgium for the first time and this museum gave a beautiful introduction to the fundamentals of the Belgian society i.e history, political system, social security, languages, migrants, industry etc. I personally learned a lot and lost the track of time. I also saw many families with young kids who looked like having fun with the many interactive parts of the museum. Highly recommended.

Very interesting exhibition on Belgian history and society. Some of the stats could be refreshed but as 2016 situation is likely close enough, the big picture is not distorted. Highly recommended to everyone interested in Belgium and its inner workings.

Open on a Monday - we were hesitant to head over because of the complexity of the themes in the museum and the fact that we had our 7 y/o son with us. Geez were we wrong. The staff have us a warm welcome and as a total bonus, there was a kids activity log book which kept our kiddo super interested throughout the visit! Loved it and recommend it to anyone trying to figure out the fabrics that make up Belgium.

Another Top-5 Must for visitors to Brussels. A charming, informative, entertaining, eye-opening, and sobering introduction to Belgian history. I found the guide book and exhibits so interesting, I took my time and spent several hours absorbing the information, visuals, and objects. Wonderful models, posters, pamphlets, pie-charts, film, samples, and interactive stations abound, but the museum is relatively small--seven main rooms on two floors--which keeps the experience moving and not at all overwhelming. Well laid out both historically and thematically.

A beautiful museum detailing the contemporary history of Belgium. A visit here is good to understand the belgian culture and the problems faced by Belgium currently. The staff is really nice and there are activities to keep children engaged. The are souvenir and coffee shops also. There are two sections one for the museum exhibits and the other for the coudenburg palace. Not too crowded generally

really a nice place to see. Even though, Belgians are normally shy about their country, here you are going to learn a lot. I would suggest Belgians to also visit this wonderful place.

Great place to start exploring and learning about Belgian history. It can take up to 90 minutes for a visit if you want to immerse yourself in everything.
