One of the most beautiful museums I have ever been. Amazing architecture with attention to details. Free access to the rooftop with panoramic view. Numerous halls with art.

Awesome building, very friendly staff! The panoramic view access is free and is open from 09:30 a.m. There are a lot of views on the way too. Every story is a different museum and you can buy tickets for different parts too.

really nice museum to visit during your time in Antwerp. They have many cool and interesting stuff in the museum. Also the 360 view on the top is amazing! You can see the whole city from there. Really recommend it!❤️

Museum aan de Stroom (MAS) in Antwerp is a cultural masterpiece! Its striking architecture mirrors the city's modern spirit. The exhibits seamlessly weave together Antwerp's maritime heritage and contemporary art, offering a dynamic exploration of its identity. The panoramic views from the rooftop are breathtaking, providing a unique perspective of the city. The museum's commitment to diversity and interactivity sets it apart. From ancient artifacts to thought-provoking installations, MAS captures the essence of Antwerp's vibrant past and present. A must-visit destination for art enthusiasts and anyone seeking an immersive cultural experience. Five stars for a truly captivating journey!

One of the main museum in Antwerpen, a 10 floor museum with an amazing architecture, and INSANE expositions. You have also some temporary exhibitions. Take at least 3h to visit this museum, you will need it. Each floor as a theme and plenty of different pieces of Art. The employees are really nice as well, and super available if you have any question.

Very nice building in a nice marina area, walkable neighborhood with trees some shade and benches to take a break and some nice little art displays like statues and a heart display❤️ with locks. Unfortunately I didn't know that one can take the escalator upstairs for free. There's apparently a good view from up there, but since I was there in the evening it was probably closed anyway. On the way from my hotel to the museum I took a wrong turn and ended up in the red light district which was interesting and rather colorful, reminding me of the laser light show up in the Atomium, which was great. Along the water one eventually gets to the ferries wheel which looks rather pretty at night 🌙

Only visited after museum hours to explore the Panorama and Viewing Gallery. Wonderful experience.. escalators took us all but last floor.. ever opening vistas .. great images of folk around escalators... glimpses of museum exhibitions made me really want to return. Views from the top across city, river and port were stunning. Huge thanks!

Almost see nothing in the gloomy winter day! Free enter to the roof top. All floors can be accessed by elevator or by escalator. Nice place to see all the ports and buildings in Antwerpen. Luckily it is not too cold in the rooftop compared in the downstairs.

Majestic panoramic view from the top of the museum and the best part is anyone can view it without buying any ticket. If you are in Antwerp, you must visit this beautiful museum once. And for the art and culture enthusiasts, there is a very amazing collection on each floor.

Such great exhibits and building! It’s a short walk from the city center and a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle. I only viewed the permanent exhibits. I loved every floor and found it all so fascinating. The lookout from the roof (free entry) was fabulous too. The WWII and shipping exhibits really stuck out with me.

Wonderful panorama view from the 10th floor. It is free entry to the art exhibition at the 2nd floor. For other art exhibition it is necessary to buy the ticket.

An iconic building in the heart of Antwerp's historic dockside area. Taking the escalators up to the tenth floor observation deck is a must but you also get some great views of the city while inside through the waves of glass panels that make up the distinctive walls.

The museum was empty, no one there but we where told that “due to Corona” it was not possible to go for free to the top (what is possible normally) - but if we would buy tickets for the museum it would be possible? So what is normally for free cost now 10€ ? again, we were the only persons there, no problem for the hygienic concept due to Corona, it didn’t make any sense to not let people go on top, we were very disappointed :/

Spent a good few hours here. There was something to see on nearly every floor. Exhibits were very big and detailed; some audio-interactivity in some areas was a bit heavy handed and overwhelming, but if you have a lot of time you can really lose yourself in each of the exhibits. Panorama at the top is worth the long escalator trip to the roof, with a full 360 of the city on offer. The building is an architectural delight too.

Very beautiful museum. It has a lot of floors and the rooftop gives you an amazing sight of the city! Its not expensive the entry and we were lucky to have found the museum almost empty. Really enjoyed the stands and wished i could see also the paintings they had in the locked cage. We visited quite fast (half a day) but you can spend the whole day inside thr museum.

We visited this place due to the good reviews. Museum shows a collection of collections made by various artists. However, we didn't get the theme behind the exhibition, which is why the content didn't mean anything to us. The platform at the top offers a great view over Antwerpen and the window design is fancy.

Poorly signposted and enigmatic about where to go, I was expecting a museum about the history of Antwerp but it felt more like a modern art museum dedicated to multiculturalism in the city rather than the city itself. Full marks for the fact you can go to the very top for free and get the best views of the city available. Best avoided on holidays as when we were there it was full of screaming children and the acoustics made it echo around the exhibition's.

Museum aan de Stroom offers a captivating experience with its unique concept showcasing the diverse life stories of local individuals, spanning generations from elderly to infants. The intimate portrayal through pictures creates a profound connection to the community. Visiting on a Friday morning provided a peaceful and uncrowded atmosphere, allowing for a leisurely exploration of the exhibits. The museum's commitment to preserving and sharing these personal narratives adds depth to the cultural experience, making it a must-visit for those seeking an enriching and reflective outing.

One of my favorite places in Antwerp is the Mas museum. its location. the views… the fact that you can sit inside and drink your coffee or read your book. You can go to the roof and enjoy the Antwerp weather and panoramic..

I really like the architecture of the building! The use of curved glass is definitely admirable. It is definitely worth a visit for anyone who admires good modern architecture and panoramic views. I also visited the museum exhibits on different floors and liked the content of most of them. Well stitched narratives for exhibits on each floor. The building has a striking resemblance to the Philharmonie building in Hamburg. You might feel a Deja vu. Overall, would recommend that people visit this place if they are visiting Antwerp.

Several floors of really interesting exhibitions, done well. It does a great job of looking at Antwerp’s history and putting it on the world map. The architecture of this building is incredible — well thought out, practical, and has all the amenities you should expect from a museum. The exhibition spaces are sizeable and give enough space for the exhibitions to breathe. The whole space is world class. View from the rooftop, which is included in the ticket, is fantastic and the best view you can find in Antwerp. Overall, a phenomenal museum and well worth a visit.

(Translated by Google) This weekend for the first time I visited the MAS. Obviously a very popular museum because we had to book 2 weeks in advance to get a seat! We were welcomed very friendly and went upstairs. It is a large and beautiful building where you have a beautiful view of Antwerp on every floor. The museum consists of clear subdivisions. Different levels with beautiful themes. You can easily spend a whole day there. We have been there 2.5 and had not seen everything yet. So I can only recommend it!

In 1998 the Antwerp city council decided to build the museum at the Hanzestedenplaats. On 14 September 2006 the first brick of the building was laid. In 2010 museum objects arrived from various other museums like the Ethnographic Museum and the Maritime Museum, which both ceased to exist. The museum opened for the public on 17 May 2011

Jedno z piękniejszych, bardziej interesujących i ciekawszych architektonicznie muzeów w mojej opinii odwiedzonych przeze mnie. Zdecydowanie obowiązkowy punkt do odwiedzenia podczas pobytu w Antwerpii. Gorąco polecam.

Its appearance looks great but the exhibits do not deserve the fame, even those wallpapers seem to be better😌 Anyway, relics from India, China, Pakistan, Peru and etc keep reminding me of the long lasting detriment of colonial era. Then the question comes out. Shall those belongs be returned to where they belong? I doubt. Truly.

Great museum, several separate excibitions, themes are very different and super interesting. What I like the most is that there is a logically understandable story behind each exhibition, not just a bunch of objects, like many museums like to do. And of course price is very good!

This is an architectural gem. Inside and out wrapped in the same stone material. The Mass manages to bring the outside in and the inside out, in a connecting way. There are spectacular views over the city for one to enjoy as you go up and around 10 stories of this public beauty. Each corner opens to a unique view of the city. The double curved glass openings give one a surreal art viewing experience ontop of the journey, inside the journey. Go visit I strongly recommend!

When we visited Antwerp the weather wasn't in our favour, and we also only passed this museum in the evening. We decided to go to the rooftop anyway. It has a nice view, would be even better on a clear day. Stunning piece of design and architecture though. Loved how the different members of the society and community are also represented with their photos on the walls.

One of the most beautiful and interesting museum I have been! The building is stunning with amazing view to the river. Each stage presents different show. Some are presenting the history of Antwerp economic and food chain. One show is about Antwerp dancing. You will learn a lot of different knowledge there and it is worth to pay a visit!

  • 4/5 Willem F. 2 years ago on Google
Looks beautiful at night and is very well placed. The roof terrace has a nice view and is free but has nothing else to offer. Also it takes some time to go up the ten escalators and the air condition of the building which is up there is very loud. Museum seems to have a very random variety of exhibitions, which are all rather small. All in all I’d definitely recommend going here but not necessarily entering it, just look at the building from outside

Very nice place in the heart of Antwerp city. Special and nice design, you can go to the 10th floor using the electronic stairs and enjoy a very beautiful view of Antwerp, also you can visit the halls in different floors for more activities. Wearing masks is mandatory and hygiene liquids are available, and you can buy a gift from the gifts shop near the museum or enjoy a drink with the view. Highly recommended

MAS is a unique experience with a multitude of diverse exhibitions, encompassing the maritime history of Antwerp to global issues. Also worth noting is its architectural design with a curved glass facade. Please be aware that the public area of the museum, including the panoramic viewing platform on the rooftop, could be entered free of charge.

Is located along the river Scheldt. It opened in May 2011 and is the largest museum in Antwerp. unfortunately I could not get in, (I cannot remember what was the issue), however, just the fact to be walking or riding one of the scooter around make me realize the contrast with the surroundings, in a sunny day you could have some food by the water or in one of the pubs really close.

  • 5/5 Bastian A. 2 years ago on Google
The building is really beautiful, it’s even a bit shocking see the building with those huge glasses , the inside is beautiful as well and it has a lot of interesting areas, definitely if anybody comes to Antwerpen they should visit this. In case you are carrying a lot of things don’t worry cause they have lockers at the entrance, also the areas are very clean and there’s plenty of alcohol all around the building for you. One more thing that i liked to make the museum more interesting is that you can take a game at the beginning of each exposition that made me focus more on the things I was watching, really cool! Thank you very much.

Museum with a really wide variety and genre of history. I decided to enjoy the permanent and temporary exhibition and I spent about 2 hours to enjoy all of them and reached the panoramic view on top of the museum.

  • 4/5 Daniela de la T. 1 year ago on Google
The buildings architecture is cool, big windows inside that let you see Antwerp from every floor. The coolest part? You can enter for free and go all the way to the rooftop to see the complete 360 view of the city. The exhibits weren’t that exciting.

  • 4/5 Kai K. 1 year ago on Google
Well, it’s big, so big that most of the time it feels but empty. Once a while an exhibition interesting to visit. But most of the time, it’s good for climbing all the way to the roof top to enjoy the panoramic view of the city and the harbor. So worthwhile give it a try. : :

Every floor has its own collection. 10th floor is the panoramic view of the city. The most impressive part were the ship displays. Really goes into the history of Antwerp and what influenced its current day politics. The large landscape paintings gave an insight into what was popular during the time were both countryside and urbanization were shown together.

  • 4/5 Khalid M. 10 months ago on Google
This review is for the building itself and the view from the top floor, as we didn’t spend much time actually exploring the different exhibits. This was a really cool structure on the waterfront in Antwerp. It stands out from the rest of the historic buildings and is really like any other structure I’ve seen before. The views from the top (free to enter the building) are definitely worth the visit. For tourists, I’d recommend visiting this place either at the start or end of your trip as it is a little bit out of the main tourist drag (tho still within walking distance).

Lovely museum, showcasing both art and history of the place. They are also interesting exhibits such as "what is home to you", exploring and allowing you to reflect on what do you think home is. To visit the permanent exhibit, it cost €10 per adult, to visit the full museum it is €12 per adult. The roof is opened till 12:00 midnight doing summer season.

Museum aan de Stroom is one that you don't forget easily. To start with, the building is spectacular and merits a visit even if you don't pay to get inside the museum. Access to the roof is open to all. Just the experience of getting up there is enough to impress even the most jaded. On a clear day, the views extend for miles around. The museum is at once a beautiful, surprising, confusing, memorable, impressive, moving, thought-provoking and infuriating experience. The collection is extensive and might go all over the place, but in the end, your mind will find a way to process it. To enjoy your visit, make sure to allocate a few hours. You'll need them!

Unbeatable free admission cost on Heritage day. Excellent architectural design and wraparound terraces on most floors. Some cool expositions too. Close to city center.

This is an unbelievably huge museum for which you have to save a several hours, if you wanted to go through and read everything, a whole day would not be enough, English-speaking staff, excellent entrance fee, lockers available, several toilets inside, great views of the city from building through its glass walls, many many many very interesting exhibits related to the city, food, port, culture, tradition, art... there is a free city-viewpoint from the roof, also a souvenir shop in front of the museum, even some refreshments available, incredible experience!

  • 3/5 tiff1567 9 months ago on Google
The panoramic view was great, but we couldn't stay on the roof floor longer than taking a few photos. It was almost 28°C on the day we visited. The exhibitions involved some videos and interactive elements, but we thought they were quite boring. Can skip them if you are more interested in enjoying the city view.

  • 5/5 amanda B. 9 months ago on Google
I loved this museum and ran out of time. There are floors devoted to a broad theme like food or home and then bring together historic paintings, current interviews, examples of say food businesses like bakers, sausage makers, historic equipment. It was really fascinating and enlightening. One floor explains what they collect and show you this looking in on storage areas (these looked a little staged) but all making for much more interest than many.

Wow… I’m speechless. Amazing museum, amazing curators, amazing exhibits. Some are paid some free. It’s accessible to all. The panorama on top is great, really windy. Nonetheless an excellent job is done by the city and the establishment for keeping art alive.

I liked it here. I've been to this museum twice with different groups of friends. The roof top lets you have a 360 view of Antwerpen. The view from the top is truly amazing.

Visited because we had the Antwerp pass. It would have been worth the €12 ticket though. The story exhibition was great. The panoramic view and the storage vault is free to visit so at least take some time to view those if nothing else. Very interesting architecture as well, a great addition to the dock. The shop was shut one the day of our visit though which was a bit of a shame.

A must see in Antwerp. There is an amazing view from the rooftop. A lot of exhibitions related to the history of Antwerp as a trade hub.

  • 5/5 Jad B. 7 months ago on Google
A lot of positive things surround this building and make it worth the 20 mins walk from all the other main tourist attractions of antwerp in the city centre (het steen, grote markt, cathedral etc..). First the exterior. This is a beautiful modern looking building that sits near a yacht port. The best part is that there are many hands on the building exterior ! Nice if you know the story behind all the hands you see in antwerp ! On the inside there are many exhibitions (paid or free) that are constantly changing. I recommend 100% you take the stairs all the way to the top ( 10 floors ) so you get some of the best views over the city of antwerp ! This is completely free 👍🏻

There is different exhibitions at different floors. Best ones were Colombia and Home Life exhibition for me and my wife. There was also temporary Flemish Master Painters exhibition that was also wonderful. Panasonic Antwerp view is adding another taste to your visit.
