This is a very interesting place, a veggie gastronomic restaurant. The place is nice with old style but modernized furniture. The only one menu is made of 10 plates during the week and you can have a drink pairing made of wines and alcool (or not if you want) infusion with vegetables or fruit spare parts that are very good. The food is really tasty, original with some Nordic style inspiration (I guess the chef likes Noma like restaurants). The plates are small as the aim is to have zero waster but I find the proportion fine at the end (with all the plates that is enough). The only potential issue that some may experience (but I did not) is as the portion are small, if you like a lot one dish you may have some frustration. The service is mostly friendly and good. I really enjoyed the experience even if you need to be aware of what the kind of restaurant it is to before you chose to be sure you will not miss a big steak (that they do not have as veggie). The chef received some distinctions for the one cooking vegetables (deserved) and the michelin green star. Maybe they could also have the first michelin star.

Great experience! Beautiful place, excellent staffs, pleasant atmosphere. The dishes were exquisite. The quantity could be a bit more 🙂. To my taste, all the drinks and the plates were too sweet.

I very much enjoyed my 5-course dinner at HxH. I was super lucky and got a table for 2 walking in 5 minutes before their opening time. Service was exceptional good, portions sizes are what you expect from a fine dining restaurant, taste is incredibly good - very special and well thought through. I definitely recommend this place if you want to fine dine in a cozy, but still very elegant atmosphere.

Pretentious, overpriced and most importantly, not good. We went on a friday night and got the full experience. Some of the beverages were good, but most didn't pair well with the food. A lot of smoked and fermented stuff was served. It tasted special but not nice. The dishes were overpowering in taste, it left me feeling nauseous. There was a soup/broth served that I couldn't even finish, despite the portion being so small. It tasted so strong, almost burned. Simply put, it tasted bad. I had no idea what was going on, but the dishes left me feeling disappointed one after the other. If you love food, this is not the place to be. Overall, very disappointed by the food. I wasn't expecting the world, but to dislike almost every dish... But I did love the tiny macarons served at the end, they were adorable. Besides that, I don't recommend this place. I walked out disappointed.

So uhm, long story short: I ended up in a vegetarian restaurant @humushortense (GF's Bday obligations) 🍆 Place was really nicely decorated: I'd guess the ceiling was either #artnouveau or #regence, the furniture was more #NonIkeaScandinavian People were extremely friendly and helpful (I needed some assistance to understand what was on my plate) 🧐 Flavours were top class (both food and drinks)! Words can't describe. Getting their first #michelinstar is only a matter of time! ⭐ More expensive than what I usually post (about 120eur pp) but the quality is definitely worth the price (not always the case at this price point) 💶 Need to make reservations 1 to 3 months in advance

(Translated by Google) Nice place, food carefully prepared, but price details unclear. The waiter announces a glass price of € 7 but charges him € 9 in the bill. Despite my remark, the amount has not been changed. In addition, filtered water is offered to us without notifying us of its price (€ 10). Too bad it ruins this culinary experience that had started well.

Venturing into Humus x Hortense, I was introduced to an entirely new realm of vegan fine dining, and the experience was nothing short of astounding. As Belgium’s first of its kind, the restaurant presents a culinary adventure that is profoundly innovative and deeply rooted in an ethical and plant-based lifestyle. The genius of Chef Nicolas Decloedt is evident in every dish. Trained in the renowned culinary institute Ter Duinen, his commitment to a plant-based lifestyle and botanical research shines through the exquisite, artful presentations on the plate. Each dish is a testament to his 25 years of ethical cooking, transforming seasonal ingredients into sublime creations. The meal began with a local Belgian organic gin, setting the tone for the culinary journey ahead. The amuse-bouche intrigued and delighted, followed by an array of meticulously crafted courses. From the pickled turnip on a delicate crumble to the carrot dish accompanied by a vibrant ginger, apple, and carrot drink, each course was a revelation. The wild or wine mushrooms paired with roasted barley and chicory drink were especially memorable, as was the bread with smoky beetroot ketchup. As the courses progressed, the roasted butternut and butternut gnocchi stood out for their comforting flavors, while the celery/celeriac-based meal demonstrated the power of simplicity and quality ingredients. The ama sake with smoked long black tea provided a rich, deep flavor that perfectly complemented the main course. Desserts were a poetic conclusion to the meal, with poached pear and yellow beetroot with apple sorbet offering a refreshing, sweet end to the gastronomic experience. The accompanying drinks, especially the rhubarb and lemon, were the perfect pairing, enhancing the flavors of each dessert. Dining at Humus x Hortense was more than a meal; it was an artistic and sensory journey, reflecting the passion and creativity of everyone involved, from the chefs to the sommeliers. The ambiance, coupled with the warm, attentive service, made for an unforgettable evening. I left feeling inspired and satisfied, eager to return and experience the ever-evolving menu. This restaurant is a true gem for anyone seeking an exceptional vegan dining experience.

(Translated by Google) What creativity, it is breathtaking! We chose the 4-course vegan menu, with cocktails (alcohol-free). We come out well filled (and we are good eaters). The dishes are simply exquisite. We can feel all the work behind it. The cocktails are surprising, delicious. We were impressed by the know-how and the passion of the team. The service is impeccable. Warm welcome. The decor is sumptuous. The atmosphere is very cozy and intimate. It was a magical experience. I must also add this: the bread was very good, and the olive oil ... olive oil! I don't have the words! I would eat it every day, just with bread! We will come back for another season because we are very curious to discover other dishes. Thanks thanks thanks. Merci merci merci.

Very disappointing experience! The food was okay, but definitely not the best vegetarian food I ever had. The 7 course menu is okay for quantity, but I was very disappointed by the quality. Non of the dishes were exceptionally good. The cocktails (as part of the drinks pairing) were very good, but that should not be the highlight of the meal when going to a restaurant. The service is not very transparent (we got served (and were charged for) 2 cheese plates, whereas we only ordered 1). Water is charged at 5€ per person for filtered (tap?) water. Additionally, they charged us 20€ too much for the dinner which was a frustrating end to an overall disappointing evening.

Full experience menu! 7 delicious small dishes with a few inbetweens. Assorted alcoholic or non alcoholic drinks. I enjoyed the first 5 dishes the most. I'm not as much a fan of the desert dishes. The assorted non-alcoholic drink missed something special ... nice, but too plain for me. Lovely interior. Friendly staff.

Presentation dishis could be sharper at this price level. The extended 6 course lunch with drink arrangement for two: eur 210.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, the taste is not there (completely inedible failed dishes and communicated to the staff without any feedback) ... Even for a gourmet, the quantities are completely inappropriate (We have already experienced several stars ...). I am a vegetarian and disappointed with the restaurant which is however right next to my house. Very expensive in the end, but if I had been surprised by the flavors and the dishes were successful I could have overlooked. Très cher au final mais si j'avais été surprise par les saveurs et que les plats étaient réussis j'aurais pu passer outre.

We had a pleasant enough experience here, food was delicious and well presented however we left feeling somewhat confused and disappointed. I look forward to hearing a response to the following: What lacked, was a human and honest explanation of the coming experience. We were expected to know too much about the menu and as a result there was much confusion over what we would be receiving and most importantly, paying for. The water was lavishly provided with hidden costs and this resulted in us feeling a little taken advantage of. Reasonably small points for improvement however when buying into this kind of cuisine, one expects to leave with the feeling of complete satisfaction. This was not the case.

The food was amazing. Not everything was perfect but it was a lovely meal. The problem started with a somewhat dishonesty of the service. By the time we were informed of the meal types and the costs, we had been served already 3 plates, 2 cocktails (almost 30 eur for 2 small glasses) and a bottle of water. The staff was nice but they push you a lot for the full service which is 150 EUR approximately, and as told before, we were sat, given drinks and Food before even been given the qr code to see the menu, which was not very clear and really almost didn't applied to us in its entirety. Wouldn't go back, I had a bittersweet experience, and maybe it's because I'm not used to fine dining but the biggest impression I have from the experience is that is was disturbingly predatory. PS. The water bottles cost 7 eur each, hold 2 small glasses of water and the servers will keep on changing it without you asking for it

The steep cost might mean this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but if you can afford it then I recommend you treat yourself to this eco conscious food adventure. The paired drinks might seem outlandish when served, but each serves to compliment their dishes well and helps to squeeze every last drop of goodness out of their vege-source.

We went with great expectations and definitely a positive prejudice. It was a massive disappointment. Such a pity. A lot of up and downs on the plate: the cauliflower main and the beetroot cracker apéritif top, the (IMO) massively oversalted Belgian saffron broth with a contrastingly very sour "ravioli", and the (IMO) very bitter tartlet bottom. The rest varying from highly forgettable (e.g. the unevenly cooked leeks) to very good (e.g. the split-lentil falafel). The shiitake-based dessert I didn't get at all, but it's me. We are in a great season for fruit, but there were none on sight on the plate, some in the drinks e.g. the sustainable apple leftovers in the (potentially yummy, very small, warm - and what is an ice cube doing in a Martini?) apple Martini (15€). And personally I found the drinks pairing "for which we are famous" (said the chef at the beginning) absolutely not up to standard (the cocktails, in particular) and incredibly stingy. To note: the menu published on the website does not correspond to that which is served. Great décor; friendly, smiling service - and staff. Lovely atmosphere in general. With a Michelin star and at 423€ + tip for two, I would have expected much more. Pity.

I went for a lunch on a Saturday, we celebrated my partner's bday. The owners prepared a little happy bday desert, which was really thoughtful of them. All in all, I think the food is worth the experience for the whole sustainable approach. The menu is entirely vegan, it is tasteful and is presented in a colourful way. The service was very friendly and thoughtful as said earlier. The real minus for me were the non-alcoholic beverages, which all tasted like vinegar. They were supposed to be infused with certain ingredients, herbs, etc. But all I could taste was vinegar. I do recommend it if you want to have a nice vegan experience, but i would avoid the non alcoholic drinks.

My first visit to HH when it opened years ago was fantastic. Upon returning recently, we got the full lunch menu... which was quite disappointing: most dishes had this vinegar taste or a twist that made it hard to savour the main ingredients. Each step missed somehow to be subtle, simple or original for the palate. The 3 stars go to: the excellent herbal drinks, the veggie philosophy and the atmosphere.

Our experience was amazing from the first to the last bite, and each and every sip. Very happy we took the full menu and the very original alcoholic pairing drinks, they elevated everything to another level. I can really recommend to go for the full experience. My lover took me here as a surprise for my birthday. Each dish was beautifully balanced and interesting as well as surprising texturewise and flavourwise, with interesting ingredients. The amounts were perfect, we definitely did not leave with hunger. It was the right amount. Also very interesting concept and a very well deserved green star. Please keep doing exactly what you are doing for WE WILL BE BACK.

An amazing restaurant, showing you flavours you didn't know exist. The staff is extremely professional and super nice, guiding you through the dishes. I don't think that the reviews complaining about the size of servings are right - even though they were, indeed, small, the fact that they come together as a menu make them filling. In the end. On the pricier end, but definitely worth the price.

Overall, we think this restaurant was underwhelming. No AC, it was too warm to really enjoy dinner there. On top, quite noisy/ no nice background music. You are rushed through your 7 courses because of the double booking. Waiters could be more competent for this kind of restaurant. The food was of very good quality and prepared on point but too expensive for what you actually get. There are way better options in Brussels for this price. Please note that on weekends you are obliged to take the full menu with pairing.

What an amazing experience ! This was just perfect from all perspectives: the food, the service, the place,...This is a veggie/vegan restaurant, however everyone would enjoy it as the creativity and tastes would work for you anyway. I would recommend the "full experience", which comes with an assortment of wines and beverages that makes your dishes even more tasteful. Botanical gastronomy at its best !!!

Great culinary adventure, full of great discoveries. Certainly, when you choose the beverage matching, we had tried non alcoholic and with, both were just like boarding on a cruise, heading to the sunny part of the world. I am very much impressed how they managed to make my culinary sens move to a higher level just with vegetables!!! The only thing I was not impressed about was the confort of the chairs, when you sit down for more than 2h, they are by far the less comfortable chairs I used in such environment. Apart from the chairs, you are welcomed and taken care by a very friendly and dedicated team!

Great dining experience with an interesting combination and preparation of ingredients. Could do without the lengthy presentation for each dish and drink, especially since the acoustics aren't great. I didn't appreciate the EUR 6.00 per flask of what tasted like tap water and how these were refilled without our asking. It's also unfortunate how the staff ask you if you'd like a cheese platter without indicating that it's not included in the set menu and even worse, when there are no vegan cheeses available for patrons who do not consume dairy products. All in all, great food but the service nor experience do not match up to the price charged.

Humus x Hortense was definitely a surprise, both in the plate, in the glass and with the staff. This team works with passion and you can see, smell and taste it. With some knowledge about aromas, I discovered surprising fragrance combinations, I discovered what can be done with a “simple” cauliflower and that even a powerful, beautiful round wine can match. Every time we go to H&H we're blown away with the creativity of these people. It's not even about it being a purely vegetarian place... I'm a raging carnivore but this place still beats a bunch of other "normal" gastro's in flavor and price/quality.

We enjoyed a great evening with a party of five at Hummus x Hortense. The restaurant is a beautiful but at the same time hip place. The food is great - we had a vegan tasting menu with locally sourced produce. Allergies were perfectly catered for. And the service is attentive but unpretentious. If you expect an oldschool Michelin Star restaurant it is not for you. If you like great food in great atmosphere prepared and served by a young and motivated team Hummus x Hortense comes highly recommended!

The food is undoubtedly interesting and the service is excellent. However, at this price point I would have expected some more luxurious ingredients. Décor is fabulous.

A disappointment. We went for lunch with wine pairing. It lacked overall of precision and subtlety in the tastes of most of the dishes. The cocktail was really good but wines were average. Not convincing for this price range.

The Full Experience menu is interesting. A lot of different flavours are served. Accompanied by drinks with or without alcohol. Vegetarian and vegan only.

In such type of restaurant you expect everything perfect but unfortunately it wasn’t the case. Our entreé was great! The interior is cosy and stylish with beautiful meadow flowers on the tables. Service at the beginning was great but spoiled by one waiter who was apparently in a rush to kick us out because the second group was supposed to come but there was still enough time. It spoiled our experience! The food is delicious and original and surprisingly very good local alcohol drinks.

Disappointing. We were surprised with the obligation to take the 'wild' menu. The drinks were more interesting than the food. But even for the drinks, the matchup with the dishes was not obvious, it seemed all a bit random to me. The check was indeed 'wild'.

A phenomenal restaurant. The best vegetarian restaurant in the world and rightfully so. The chef will treat you to a load of extraordinary tastes and textures, flavors will explode in your mouth. Local veggies grown by wild farmer Dries Delanote. You're in for a real special gastronomic treat. Paired with an amazing selection of organic wines and unique drinks. A true and wonderful journey. Amazing host, chef, staff in a wonderful art deco setting. One of the go-to restaurants on the planet!

The positive: the food. It was excellent. I am a very reserved person and I even said "wow" out loud once or twice, which is very unusual for me. Complaining about anything on that front would be like complaining about the amount of sand grains on a perfect beach. The negative: The waiting staff, while very friendly, feels a little inexperienced. Just a little push to get everything perfect :)

Overpriced and the food is simply not nice. Nothing against tiny portions, great idea to use local and seasonal ingredients... but it should also taste good - expecially for that price!

(Translated by Google) Even if the dishes are very good, they are too small. We were all hungry when we left after a 4 course lunch. In addition, they refused to serve us coffee at the start of the meal, we had to insist. (Original) Même si les plats sont très bons, ils sont trop petits. Most of the food was really really delicious. It was all beautifully presented. The highlight for me throughout was the sauces. There was a pumpkin gnocci served with the most amazing bubbly white wine sauce, a brilliant burnt leek deep sauce, and an asian broth that was one of the nicest I've ever had. I loved the carrot stuffed with apricot mousse, and the apple cigar dish at the end was really exciting. The beetroot dessert was a bit of a let down for me. There was a delicious mushroom tofu dish, but I wasn't keen on the accompanying mushroom cabbage dish. The cocktails were great. The wine and beer pairings were not for me. Don't think my taste buds are refined enough to identify 19 lambic flavours! Like another diner who posted recently, I did find a tiny caterpillar in my cabbage. Certainly didn't spoil my enjoyment of the food, it just shows that the food is fresh, no biggie, and the staff did apologise and carefully transported the little creature to the compost. I booked several weeks ago as a solo diner, so initially I was really disappointed to be sat at the bar, and almost left. It wasn't the most comfortable seat and I did felt feel I was getting in the way a bit, but the staff were very welcoming and friendly and did their best to make me comfortable on their busy night, so in the end it worked out fine, and interesting to get a genuine insight into the workings of a commercial kitchen. I definitely recommend this venue, the chef and staff, and overall had a great meal.
